Chinup check in 10/12/06

I only have the energy and brain power to wave *wave*.

May we talk about hating laundry in the chins thread?x(

Catherine, what on earth have you been eating, drinking? Share some of that enthusiasm would ya?!!!

Signed,
Wienie Wuss

Melody, what's the latest at your house? I've been thinking about you and hope everything's okay.

Your closing "wienie wuss" made me laugh out loud!:+ So glad to have a partner in crime.

Briee, I forgot to add that I am REALLY sore from doing BC Friday. I just haven't been lifting enough! Wienie, wienie, wienie.

I'm on a circuit roll, though, so am just about to do SJP. I did PY4H yesterday and tweaked my neck/shoulders a bit by doing push-ups in between up and down dog. It doesn't take much to make me lose ground in push-up land.x(

Okay.........I need you guys to keep me laughing. I got dressed today to go biking, beautiful day. I have NOT YET BEEN OUT. Maybe I need some new workouts. I really am attracted to spinning, but trying to get me to do anything right now is a stretch.

Thank you for admitting to being sore from bootcamp Sooooooooooooosan, somehow that helped me.

Melody you CAN complain about laundry, but just for the record....my dryer broke a few months back and I have just strung lines upstairs to hang laundry for 9-10 people (depending on the day) since it's too cold to hang outdoors. The only thing worse would be for my two washers to break and I'd be washing it in the bathtub!!!

Briee (man have I been in a whiney mood lately - gotta get over this...Catherine, what's your secret?)

Briee-Did you get out on your bike today? I hope so. I went biking with DD and it was such a beautiful day. I've tried spinning and it wasn't for me but it might work for you.

Catherine-love your little guys with the whip.

Melody-you can go right ahead and complain about the laundry. I really hate matching socks and it really drives me crazy when there are left over socks.

Sooosan-hope your neck is feeling better.

Joanne

Briee ^^^^

I promise to no longer complain about laundry.

BTW, are the kids swinging or playing zip line on your clotheslines? Let me give them the suggestion...I'd hate to think they missed an opportunity for another trip to the ER. It's been a while hasn't it?

Seriously, I noticed your crew has been sick and I hope everyone is feeling better.

*waving* to everyone. My brain is actually more nonfunctional than my body these days. That's not a good thing.

I'd really like to report some chin negatives but can't. I'm still working out hard but the neck says "no missy" to pulling/holding bodyweight.

Sweet dream alls.

Joanne.....what didn't you like about spinning? I'd love to know before investing. To be incredibly honest...I've heard about it all summer and never really knew what it was or that it even involved a bike until recently (I'm kind of sheltered here in the country). The only reason I thought I'd try it is because I've learned to LOVE biking most recently. I'd appreciate any feedback.. Thanks a bunch.

Melody, I'm a bit out of sorts with the people who run the little appliance store in town(had problems with 3 appliances that I purchased from them in the past), but I may have to bite the bullet and buy a dryer from them. I'm holding out as long as possible, but I'm trying to figure out who's really being punished, me or them??? x( x( x( .

Joanne.....I don't even try to match socks anymore. It's a mental thing that you eventually have to work through, but it can be done. We play a game with socks called "close enough's".

Briee

NO DRYER FOR HOW MANY MONTHS????? Could you buy one online? A friend of mine had good luck buying appliances online for her new house. I think she bought some of them from a place in Chicago that either doesn't charge shipping or charges minimally. Very reputable company with great customer service. I could get the name for you if you'd like. We live in the country too and our local yocal appliance store is a nightmare.

There's also a company who sells very colorful mismatched children's socks. I saw it on Oprah last year.

I used to bike all the time in the NJ town where I grew up. It was very hilly and I LOVED it. It's too flat around here and everything dead ends into water. Sounds like you live in just the right places, Joanne and Briee. I've never tried spinning but I've heard it's intense but easy on your joints.

You ARE always cheerful, aren't you Catherine?

I did SJP yesterday. No neck problems. I'm doing yoga and circuits for the rest of the week. I may throw in one of A-Jock's shorter mish-moshes.

Hey gang! I truly wish I could say that I am always cheerful!! I just try to keep life in perspective. Not always easy though.

I can not imagine not having a dryer for that long- Uggggghhhhh!!!

I skipped my workout yesterday. Will try to get it in tonight.

Have a good day all!

Briee-to sum up spinning for me - I found it boring. I love biking outside. Kind of like a treadmill for me also as I find that boring too. But, I have a friend that loves spinning. You should try it first before buying. BTW "close enough" I love it!!

Joanne

>mismatched children's socks......that is amazing. People can market anything!!!!!

Joanne...."I found it boring". Bummer, I bet I'll feel the same way. I couldn't run on a treadmill for the life of me, I'd die of boredom. AND it's so beautiful to bike outside. But I like the idea of the intensity and still love the part about twiggy legs. I've got to find a place to try it first....hmmmmm

Today...take mom to hospital with small case of pneumonia, stuck in Lacrosse for WAY too long, lock keys in car, take a wrong turn on the way home which made me hours later (no turn around), told dd that she would have to watch younger sibs for 2 1/2 hours and it turned into 12. The worst of it was I was starving and I stepped out of the car to run in for something and locked my FOOD IN. I COULD SEE IT, BUT I COULDN'T EAT IT.

On a good note...things can only look up right.

Briee

One more thing. Catherine you ARE so encouraging. I think I found some motivation after spending a day at the hospital. And you probably have some perspective on this subject. I watched 100's of people in their golden/silver years hobbling around with oxygen, overweight and barely moving. THIS IS WHY WE WORK OUT! I needed to see this, but oh so sad. Keep moving guys!!! NEVER STOP!

Briee

I really need to shut up, but had to thank you Soosan for the dryer info. It's become kind of a character building thing here in our household and it also adds humidity to the air. :7 :7 :7 ;) . We do plan on buying one sometime soon so I'll have to check that out.

Briee (I have to quit this multiple post thing)

I'm here too {{{{{{{{Briee}}}}}}}}}} and remind you things can only look up...don't look down, please!!

I kinda wish my food would get locked where I did not have access. The continual "revelations" around my house are getting to be excessive and I've turned into a stress eater. I won't bore you with details.

Sooooosan, I'm seriously thinking of beginning that yoga thread. I need encouragement to take a few each day to relax and pull it all together within myself. What do ya think?

Did you ever just want one day where you could stay in bed and vegetate? (is that even a word?)

I'm going to have to give up the chinups check-in. Let's realize they haven't been happening and probably aren't. Guess what, I've become completely OK with that, yes, completey OK. It's not that important in the scheme of my life!

But you guys are important to me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:*

I love getting up early each morning to read all the nighttime activity that goes on in the CCI!

Briee, whew! What a day! How's your mom feeling? When did you finally get home? I'm not sure I understand the "no turnaround" part? Were you on a highway with a median and no way to turn around for HOURS? Were you wearing matching socks?

I hear ya about working out in order to deter the effects of aging. A distant cousin of my husband's lives in a nursing home around here and we go visit her every Sunday. It really is sad.:-(

Melody, if you want to start a yoga check-in, I'm there, sister. Do you know if anyone else might be interested in joining? Maybe Laurie? It would be a revelation to actually be doing the type of workout stated in the check-in title.:p

Or maybe we can just take over this check-in with talk of yoga (which I've obviously been trying to do all along, but people like BRIEE aren't being very cooperative).

Just kidding - I'll join the YCI!:)

Why don't we do away with the chin-up check in and change it to a -in Yoga check-in. The discussion is seldon about chins anyway.

Ooooh we have to keep the chin-up check in. We do talk about chins here and there.

Soooosan-I did about 45 minutes of Yoga yesterday. That's right. 45 minutes!

Briee-Sorry to hear about your crazy day yesterday. I agree with Sooosan. You must of had on mismatched socks.

Maybe, we could combine the two check-ins and call it Yoga/Chin check in. (I know I am not very creative).

Joanne

I somehow feel we may have disappointed Honeybunch in regards to chins. But because of my neck/shoulder issues I can't seem to be physically ok with the actual exercise. I keep trying to bow out of this check-in because of that, but you sweethearts won't allow it!

How about the "Yogi Chinsters" or "Chinning Yogis" or "Balance Your Life with Chin-ups and Yoga Check-in"?:p Remember I'm sleep deprived. I'm playing around and not truly attempting to alter the chin ups check-in.

I hope everyone is well and all injuries and illnesses are healing quickly.

Well, I talk about chins all the time in this check in. I might not do them but once or twice a week, but I do them and post about them. Personally, for me, this check in is something I look forward to. It's fun to talk about all the things we discuss, even if it's not all about chinups. JMO!!

Catherine-I agree. I vote we keep the chin check in and combine it with Yoga (come on Briee-you can do it). Can you tell I have been working on the Election.

Melody-love the names that you came up with! And, glad you are not leaving us.
