Chin-Up Check-In Friday 3.31

Soosan

Cathlete
Good morning all! I don't think I'm going to attempt any chin-ups today because I'm pretty sore from my workout yesterday. I'll do them tomorrow and post about it. Have a great day everyone!

I'm posting what I ate for breakfast in an attempt to suck Carole into this thread.

Placed in juicer: One Beet, all beet greens, celery, bunch of parsley, 3 carrots. Yum Yum! (and if you truly believe that was yummy I have some swamp land in Myrtle Beach I could sell you - hey Debbie that was for you) :p :p :p

I am attempting to detox as I have felt so crummy. No donuts this week.

Chinup count after I get back from the doc with child who doesn't have the flu...I'm now sure it's strep throat. What a week.

Briee

Oh yes...Soosan..you are quite wise to wait a day, have a donut and rest.

I'm heading for the basement to do my first and always "biggest" set. Wait right there and I'll come back up with a report.

I'm back and was able to do 10 (non-assisted). I'll do more as the morning progresses before I go to Kohl's to get my "Drop and give me 20" t-shirt.

Happy chinning, y'all! We don't love to do them, we love what they do FOR us!!!! Oh, yeah, it's fun to brag about them, too!

Darn, I already posted in the thread started yesterday, but will repeat.

Mom's here, this is day 2 of no w/o, tsk tsk.

Will be back on track tomorrow.

Sending {{{{HUGS}}}}} to Briee, her mom and entire family.:)

Th following message was cut and pasted because I blindly followed Melody into yesterday's chin-up thread:eek: ...

Excuse me girls, I just want to to give a {{{{{GREAT BIG HUG}}}}} to Briee.

I'm sorry to hear your mom is in the ICU...gosh..I hope my MIL hasn't started something here. Please know that she is in my prayers, as are you;) .

Wow honeybunch!!! You are awesome:eek:

Does Kohls really have a drop and give me 20 t-shirt?? I want one!!!

Melody, I hope you are enjoying your visit. And your rest, cause you've got to "Bring It" as Tony would say!!!

Soooooooooooosan, I think I'm with you, I'll be doing mine Sat. I am due Chest and Back. I may try to do a few sporadic ones today. I just finished KenpoX.

Briee, hope your little one gets better soon. How's your mom?

:)

Catherine

Hey...I followed Melody and Michele too....but as a recap, thanks so much for your kind thoughts. My mom is doing better today, but it appears she had a bad interaction between meds, resulting in a heart rate of 38. As I said in the other thread...I work hard trying to lower my HR and to think all I needed was a pill x( x(. I'm inclined to think America is TERRIBLY over medicated, but I'm also thankful we have them when we need them.

Honeybunch...I want that shirt too, I'm calling Kohl's right NOW. You're doing great!! Do ya feel like ya got the "I can do 10 chinups mental block?" I ask because I have a terrible time with mental blocks. I can usually do 7 without a hitch, but beyond that there is this "mental" thing going on that I have to work through.

I did chinups yesterday so I'm debating about doing them again. I'm starting to feel like I'm a adapting a little bit, not so sore as in the beginning.

I want to go to Myrtle Beach.

Briee

I did the same set as I did on Wednesday. I'm feeling a little bit stonger. I'm going to try to do another set before I head out of town.

Joanne

I had to go to 2 Kohl's to find the shirt, and got the only one left, so you may have a hard time finding it.

I NEVER have a mental block - I know I will be able to do 15 by summer anyway.

HB,
how do the sizes of those shirts run? they have them online and I was thinking of ordering one.

thanks
catherine

Glad to hear you're feeling stronger, Joanne. Hoping it will be the same for me tomorrow. Have a great weekend!:)

Hey Tshirts are on sale for $9.00. Go to Kohl's and do a search for "tshirt drop and give me 20" and it came right up.

briee

I got the tee shirt online. $9 ain't bad!!! (Of course, I didn't stop with just the tee shirt...)

I'm barging into this thread because I attempted a pullup this morning and I could get halfway up. I was kind of impressed with myself, actually... I thought I would just hang...

So how can I keep progressing?? I've got P90X now so I'll start with bands, I guess, and keep attempting them maybe once a week? I asked DH to figure out a way to hang something from our garage roof so I can try these in the privacy of our (rented) home, rather than at a park...

Any suggestions are always welcome- you ladies ROCK!!!!!

Welcome Amy!!! Look over the previous threads and you'll get lots of ideas. Basically most are doing negatives - look up the "eccentric chinup" thread that I posted last week and you'll get a detailed instruction of an eccentric chinup. (I wish I knew how to cut and paste, but hey I can do a pullup - we all have our strengths:7). This is a great way to build the muscle it takes to complete one. You can use this in your P90X workouts by doing the first few/one of your pullup/chinups using this negative principle.

And remember....when you complete 6 reps of 10 count negatives..you get to eat a donut!! You're gonna love this checkin...we're really tough}( }( }(
