Chest Press: How Low Do You Go

I expect the standard answer to "How far should you go?" would be to go where your elbows are at right angles and/or so that your elbows don't drop below the level of the bench that you're using.

It seems like most people that I notice go below that. (I notice the same thing with pushups.)

Today, I was just "playing around" with my husband's weight bench and found that I could press significantly more if I didn't go as deeply. (I assume that's because you use more shoulders when you go deep and they're not as strong as your chest.)

Just curious what you do.
