Cathlete
Good morning, cheetahs :)

Not too many personals to catch up with...

Jackie :: Yes, that was Cliff from Cheers!...Laila does seem a little cocky, but maybe that's why they paired her with Maks :).

Wendy :: sorry to hear about your friend's situation...how sad...I'm glad you were able to sit down face-to-face and lend an ear. I'm sure that had to help.

This afternoon will be a play-by-ear plan again. Hope everyone has a great day!

~Cathy :)

PS...We didn't hear from Christine yesterday ~ hope she's OK.

Those who indulge...bulge!

Good morning Cheetahs:

Tonight I teach step class, so I'll be cooking up something good for that one. }(

Our Sleep Number Bed is going to be delivered today - YIPPEE.....maybe if I actually get a good night's sleep I will get up and workout in the morning. I am a morning person by far, but just don't get good sleep so I'm all sore and stiff in the morning.

My goal is to the X Rotation in the morning and then do my circuit and step classes in the evening. Once I'm done teaching at the end of April then I'll be solely on the step with some Cathe thrown in, too, can't forget my ultimate favorite :) .

Have a super day everyone!
Marcia.

RE: ::: CHEETAHS ::: workin' for the weekend!! ~ thurs....

Good morning cheetahs! Finishing up a work stretch :) and looking forward to some days/nights off! Today will be BBC Arms and Abs plus cardio and later an hour on the EXT :7 Yesterday, I ended up doing 6miles total on the TM doing varying intervals. I've been able to get the speed up to a 6:40 pace with no discomfort:7 Although I can only sustain that for a few minutes.

Cathy- The ski weekend is nearing :7 :7 :7 Counting the hours yet?

Marcia- I fear for your students tonight;-) I'd really like to hear how you like your sleep number bed! As I age more it is harder to get a good nights (or days) sleep.... sigh :( I've been curious about this mattress.

Jackie- A 5k next month? Fabulous! What is your goal for a time, or are you just doin it for fun?

Susan- your appt with your chiropracter sounded VERY positive and encouraging:7 :7 Even though I work in the field of traditional medicine I dont discredit chiropracters at all. I think they can
do outstanding work for some cases such as yours. Hang in there
and you'll be back to running.... :) Pilates does sound like an excellent option for you now.

Judy- 5 miles:7 :7 :7 I think you may be on to something chicheetah!

Emily- Welcome to cheetahville!!!! We welcome cheetahs of all shapes, sizes and SPEEDS!!! We even have cheetahs who aren't running at all right now.... (in rehab!) We hope you continue to chat with us and share your experiences! Chi running is a technique for running that combines the principles of Tai Chi with running
and is supposed to (when done properly) prevent injuries and improve endurance. There is a book by that title by Danny Dwyer (I think)
If you are currently doing a base of 25 or miles per week and have been doing long runs (more than 5 miles say) then I'd say by May you should be fine for competing in a half marathon. I'll be doing a
HM myself on May5.

Wendy- Sounds like you had a bit of a gut wrenching day yesterday.
I'm sure your friend appreciates your support tremendously just by listening. I plan on doing your leg challenge tomorrow}(

That's all I have for now! Hi to all the fabulous cheetahs who follow
and I hope to check in later today.

ShellyC

RE: ::: CHEETAHS ::: workin' for the weekend!! ~ thurs....

Good morning Cheetahs! I chickened out of my dr. appt yesterday. Since I just finished paying off DS hospital bills from Thanksgiving and now I have an ER bill for DD, I opted to save my money for the ER bill instead. I’m sure I will be rescheduling though.

Yesterday I ran 3.5 miles because Tuesday I didn’t make the 4 miler I had hoped. Tuesday’s run was one of those where you set out not doing so well so I stopped at 1.5 miles. Today will be ME.

Gayle – What running plan are you following for your HM? You are putting in some great runs. I’m worried about not running enough miles. The doubting phase has set in on whether I can actually do this. Is this normal?

Well, I need to start working. BBL for personals. Waves to all cheetahs in cheetahland!

RE: ::: CHEETAHS ::: workin' for the weekend!! ~ thurs....

Kristi-I'm following a 14 week plan (we're in week 10 right now) that's written by Bart Yasso (a big wig at Runner's World Magazine). He emails it to us every Thursday. It's great! The Doc that's 'assigned' to this race has personally answered many of my questions (mostly concerning TM training and how to simulate outdoor running). And YES......the doubting phase is completely normal. We all get that. Me....with every race, no matter the distance! YOU'LL BE FINE!!!!!!!

Shelly----did you say 6:40 pace. 6:40?????? Holy cow, Batman! LOL That’s fast.

Emily-I’m glad you’re here with us. I agree on the fact that we all run at different levels. Congrats on running at all!

Marcia-you’ll have to let us know how the bed is! I have an all-foam mattress and LOVE it. No springs, nothing. All foam and it’s the best thing around my house (not to mention nice and warm all year long.)

OK.....this morning was 8 miles, with hill repeats. I created my own TM hill repeat workout last night, and used that. I tweaked it as I went along, but it was FABULOUS and I was drenched thru all my layers of clothes (which included a sweatshirt). That's a good thing! LOL Then a nice long stretch. It's been 3 straight days of hard runs so I'm looking forward to a no-running day tomorrow. We'll see what I come up with for that!

Must run....time to go clean my friend's house! Have an AWESOME DAY!

Gayle

Cheetahs Check-in

Good morning, Cheetahs. Well, it is morning anyway. I am finally realizing that I am just not cut out for recovery weeks. This is my third or fourth attempt at one, and I am battling the blues again. :-( I am having Cathe withdrawals! I am such an intense cardio junkie! I have not been sleeping well this week. After eating clean for 12 weeks, I went out with a friend last night and enjoyed my first restaurant meal of 2007. It was yummy. I ate a small bowl of cheesy potato soup and a corn bread muffin from Cotton Patch with a glass of sweet tea. :9 The portion size was not over the top, but I still woke up with a food hangover this morning. Ugh! Sodium is not my friend. I am sure the scale is not my friend either this morning.

I have not been totally sedentary this week. I have been doing TLTs and old FIRM workouts. I did Better Burn Better Buns Sunday, the Hare Monday, and Cardio Burn Tuesday. I was planning to do Maximum Cardio yesterday, but I woke up at 2:00 a.m. and took a nap during my workout time. After dinner with my friend last night, I was too tired to move. I did Jen Carman’s segments of Better Body and Buns this morning and fast forwarded through the rest. I am enjoying these workouts for a refreshing change of pace, but I am missing the Cathe endorphin high!

I booked my flights for the Road Trip yesterday. I will be flying first class on miles, so I am excited. :7

Thanks for the suggestions for socks. I have been wearing Thorlo running socks, and they really make my feet sweat.

Wendy, I am praying for your friend. Is this little Tommy that I have been praying for since November or another baby?

Blessings,
Heather B.

“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us” (Hebrews 12:1 NIV).

RE: Cheetahs Check-in

Good morning cheetahs

Cathy...I also hope the Accutane solves your problems and that you can soon be off of it and back to your old self...I am awful with nicknames, but if one comes up for Joey, I'll let you know...:)..I was also thinking about Christine as she didn't post yesterday.

Marcia....a new bed is great. I bet you will sleep very well...

Shelly...wow!! 6:40 even for a few minutes is awesome!!! Enjoy your BBC and EXT workout.

Kristi..sorry about your Tues run. Good job on the 3.5 miles yesterday.

Gayle...wow!! drenched thru the sweatshirt too....sounds like a tough run.

Heather...I have trouble also with recovery weeks. I understand the concept but sometimes it is just to tough to go easier...:)

Wendy...hope you had a good rest day. Your friends situation sounds tough...:(

Sunny...YES, I did enjoy my workout yesterday....lots...:)

Susan...the only Pilates I have are a few of the Windsor ones. I like them and think got then thru Collage Video. Yes, I am liking the BBC workouts. The run went good thanks. Your Chiro sounds thorough, I do hope he can help you!

Judy...your vacation sounds great. I have stopped doing any kind of heavy weights for my legs due to the piriformis pain and am back to a freestyle approach.

Emily...Welcome! All of us cheetahs run different paces so please, don't think you are too slow...nice to see you here...:)

Today I am doing B&G standing, BBC Chest & Abs and my EXT for about 40 min..

Have a great day...

Mornin' cheetahs! :)

Thanks for the welcome, everyone. You really know how to make a slow girl feel like a speed demon. ;)

This morning I did a 50 minute treadmill run and I kicked it up a notch and ran faster than my usual 5.0mph pace. I started at 5.0mph, and every 10 minutes, increased by 0.1 mph. It felt surprisingly comfortable. :)

Cathy - did I see that right? You're on Accutane? I took that back when I was in college. It really cleared up my skin, and I was fortunate to not have too many side effects. My hair thinned a little bit, but that was it.

Marcia - I'm jealous that your'e getting a sleep number bed! I want one so bad! My parents have one and they love it. :) Sooooo comfy!

Shelly - I'm not running 25 miles per week right now... frankly, I'm too slow to run that kind of mileage in one week. I barely made it over 30 miles per week during the height of my marathon training. I would have to quit my day job to put in more miles. ;) Or run every day, which doesn't agree with my body. But with that said, right now I feel like I could do a 10k no problem... and the HM I'm looking at is May 27. So maybe I do have time to whip myself into shape. I'm not looking to set any PRs this time, so I think I'd be alright.

And please allow me to gawk and drool over your 6:40 pace! I couldn't run that fast to save my life!

Kristi, we all have days like that where we start out on a run and then it just doesn't feel good, so we have to stop early. No biggie. :) And yes, we all go through the doubting phase. I had doubts up until I was at Mile 22 of my marathon! It wasn't until Mile 22 that I really knew I would finish. Just keep running, and try to tune out the doubts. You'll do great!

Gayle, awesome hill workout!

Heather, how cool that you get to fly first class to the road trip!!! WOW! :) I'm envious.

Carole, enjoy your workout today. :)

RE: Cheetahs Check-in

Good morning ladies!

Wendy - Sorry to hear about your friend's son. How awful for him. I hate when children are sick. Glad you were there to give him a hug.

Cathy - It's good you're going by how you feel on your workouts. Hope you have a nice one whatever you choose to do.

Marcia - Waiting for reviews on that Sleep Number Bed. Have a great class.

Shelly - WTG on upping that pace even if it's only for a few minutes. Don't know what you can do until you try. I'm in awe. I want to do the 5K for fun but I still want to see how fast I can run it. I'd like to do it in under 30 minutes. Good luck with Wendy's leg challenge.

Kristi - Hope you have a good workout today. You only have a month until your half. How do you feel?

Gayle - Glad the hill repeats worked for you this morning. Good job on surviving it!

Heather - It does sound like you are having withdrawal symptoms. You may need a 12 step program to a recovery week. :)

Carole - Sounds like a nice long workout for you today. Enjoy it.

I did Ripped 1000 on my Bosu. This one works well with it too. Did Body Target Pilates for Abs with Ana Caban. Legs are really sore from past 2 days workouts. Doing Ripped tomorrow. Plan on going easy with the weights. Gotta prepare for that 8 miles on Saturday!

Have a terrific Thursday!

Jackie

Happy Thursday! Looks like you all are doing well today! We are heading back home in a bit. I was able to use my Mom's TM & did a good 3 mile walk. Calf is feeling soooo much better thanks to my Mom's massaging it & stretching. It's gone from a huge knot to just a couple tender spots!!

Kids are having fun but we must head home so we can pack for our trip to St. Louis tomorrow! They are so excited, more excited I think about the hotel w/ pool to swim in! I hope to get in a few laps while we're there at least.

OK, must get movin' so have a good one! :)

Good morning cheetahs,

I am feeling so much better today after my first adjustment. I was kind of sore after it yesterday though. I go again on Friday for another one.

Instead of a rest day yesterday, I did ME upper body and 30 minutes on the elliptical. Today, I am planning on doing 45 minutes on the elliptical and then legs and glutes floorwork and a my new Karen Voight pilates abs and back dvd. I have always loved her.

Cathy, have a nice day and a good workout this afternoon:)

Marcia, how nice that you are getting a new bed. We really need a new mattress. I am also stiff a lot in the morning. Yop have a lot of working out planned today, good for you}(

Shelly, You are one FAST cheetah. When I was running I loved working on speed. I run so much faster on the treadmill than outside. Sounds like you are looking forward to some days off.:)

Kristi, don't doubt yourself cheetah, you will do that half marathon and you will do GREAT! I love ME}(

Gayle, what are you going to do on your rest day tomorrow? You have definitley earned it.

Heather, I have all of the TLT's, but have not opened one of them. I have had them for about a year. What is the impact like? I am trying to stay away from impact right now until my back is completely healed. I know what you mean about trying to take a rest week. I have never really ever done that. It is so hard for me as well.

Carole, I was reading the past posts about chiro and I see you are a huge fan of them. I think it really is about finding the right one. But, I am really impressed with this guy. Glad you are feeling great and back to your normal workouts. I will be there with you soon. I FEEL it!

Jackie, I have never really investigated getting a Bosu. I hear they are really good for stabilization and there is less impact.
Give those legs a rest;-)

Emily, Welcome to cheetahland. It is true there are cheetahs here that are injured and not running. As long as you love to run or have an interest in it, you are a cheetah. Of course, I am one of the injured ones;-) When I was first running I would start slow and take it up a notch every 5 minutes and then half way through I would go back down every 5. That really helped my speed.

Jess, That is great news that your calf is feeling better. Glad you had a good time with mom:)

Well ladies, I am off to work in Ally's classroom now.

Cheers!

Susan

RE: ::: CHEETAHS ::: workin' for the weekend!! ~ thurs....

Good Afternoon Cheetah-Babes!:)

So I got my arse to spin this morning. We had about 15 mins left before cool down and stretch when I was called out cause Joey had done a stinky in his diaper so they needed me to change him. ACK! I didn't bother going back afterwards. It wasn't worth it. Atleast I got 30 mins in, right? ;) Tonight I'll do my yoga like a good girl.:)

Thanks to everyone for the kind words regarding my friend and his son. Heather, to answer your question, yes, it's the same little boy. :-( I found out last night that this child has had his last rites read to him 4x since he was hospitalized back in November but he is still hanging on and pulling through it all! Thank you Heather...you are making a difference. I am sure of it! It's things like this that make me realize how much I take for granted. I have a happy and healthy son. Even our little hospital stay and the fact that he is now on meds for a year is absolutely nothing to cry about after hearing this poor little boy's story. My friend admitted to me last night that he had considered suicide if they were to lose his son while they were in the hospital this last time. I told him straight up that he can't do that. He has to think about his wife and how much she would need him God forbid thier son was to pass at any point. He agreed so I pray that the idea is out of his head now.

Sorry for rattling on about this...it's just so heart wrenching....I will start a new post for the personals. I'll be cheery, I promise! :)

Thanks for letting me vent!

RE: ::: CHEETAHS ::: workin' for the weekend!! ~ thurs....

Okay...now that all of the depressing stuff is out of my system I can move on to HAPPY personals!;)

Cathy: So what's your plan today girl? You can gonna kick some butt? }(

Marcia: DH's cousin recently purchased a sleep number bed. They LOVE it! Hope you and your hubby are just as happy with it!:)

Shelly: No worries about the RT class. I'm bummed ofcourse but I didn't have my hopes up on purpose. I am just ecstatic that I will be there to meet up with everyone at all!!!! So the challenge is Butt and Legs and Leg Blast Premix back to back! Did you do it yet? I can't imagine the pain...OMG! LOL }( }( }(

Kristi: Have fun with ME. Great work out! We have bills from DS's stay at the hospital over Christmas time. It stinks!

Gayle: So have you decided what to do on your day off from running?

Heather: Recovery weeks can be tough to get through. I manage to get through them with the X but I don't know how! LOL

Carole: Sounds like a good work out on tap for you. Have fun with it. I enjoyed my rest day....I cleaned instead! How's that for a fun trade-up?? NOT! LOL :p

Jackie: I don't have a bosu. If I had more room I'd probably have purchased one by now though! I am the queen of exercise gadgets! I have a gazelle which is collecting dust in my room and a rebounder which I finally moved upstairs because I stopped using it. I think I just like to spend money!!!!}( }( }(

Emily: Hey girl! I'm sorry-I haven't even welcomed you to the Cheetahs yet! So WELCOME!!!:) I am not a fast runner either though I am slowly increasing my speed as time goes by. I would love to run a 1/2 and a full marathon one day. I am just not prepared to the committment I would have to make in order to train for those kinds of distances yet. One day though!

Susan: Glad your adjustment went well.

RE: ::: CHEETAHS ::: workin' for the weekend!! ~ thurs....

This Cheetah is getting a shiny new step! I just ordered the platform from fitness wholesalers for under $50.00! WOOH! }(

RE: ::: CHEETAHS ::: workin' for the weekend!! ~ thurs....

Calling all Cheetahs..........I need help and/or advice, suggestions, anything!!!

Here's the deal......I'm going to put together a killer bootcamp rotation for a month for my aerobics class. Something that will get them geared up for summer. What I need are suggestions and ideas to put this all together. I want to make sure and tell them to eat enough, get good sleep, etc. How many days cardio? How many days strength? Most of them want to lose weight and sculpt.

Any ideas or help would be great, I just don't want to miss anything }( .

Marcia.

P.S. I'm going to post this on the open forum, too, in case there are others that might have some good ideas.

RE: ::: CHEETAHS ::: workin' for the weekend!! ~ thurs....

I’m back again. I did LIC Total Body premix instead of ME. For some odd reason I don’t have the motivation to do a full hour of weights these days. I will need to change this after my HM.

BTW, tomorrow I will taking a day off from work so I won’t be able to check in with you lovely ladies. Have a great Friday and weekend!!

Okay, enough about me, time for some personals.

Cathy – I hope you are having a good day today!

Wendy – I’m so sorry to hear about your friend’s son illness and the hardships he is having to face. My prayers are with him. You are a terrific friend.

Marcia – Enjoy your Sleep Number Bed. I hope it brings you lots of restful nights. You sound like an awesome instructor. If I lived closer I would love to try out your class.

Shelly – Enjoy your time off work. WOW 6:40 pace!?!?!?!?!? That is awesome. You are a CHEETAH. I hope to one day run at a 9:00 pace. So far I’m only hitting the 10:00 pace when I run outside only.

SunnyD- Only 17 more days til your vacation!!

Gayle – You have piqued my interest in your running program. I’m sure I am too novice to follow it. How many miles do you average per week? What did they say about simulating outdoor running on the treadmill? I’ve always heard that a 1% incline is needed. Is that correct? Sorry about all the questions. I do most of my running on the treadmill too. Great job on the 8 mile with hill repeats. What a great workout!

Heather – Enjoy the Road Trip. How exciting for you!

Jackie – Good luck with your 5K. You will do awesome. So far I feel great with my HM training. I’m having doubts about my capability to run it, but I know that my training will pay off. My goal is to finish it feeling strong with no time limitations and injury free. So this race will probably take me 2:30 to complete. LOL  I’m sure my next one I will be more conscience of my time.

Judy – How is the chi running going?

Emily – WELCOME!!!! I’m a slow cheetah myself. Good luck if you decide to do a HM. 25 miles per week is really good. I hope to have my base mileage up that high. My first HM is scheduled in a little over 4 weeks (April 28th).

Hi to Carole, Christine, Susan, Jess, Linda, and all other cheetahs. Sorry I have ran out of time for more personals. Take care!!!

RE: ::: CHEETAHS ::: workin' for the weekend!! ~ thurs....

Hi, I am back to the Cheetah checkin. It's been a while, I guess since fall. Anyway, I didn't think I'd be running anymore but I changed my mind. Imagine that. I've been running 1-2 times a week, today being a 7 miler. I was surprised I did not have a problem going that distance. I've never gone over 5. I plan on doing a 5K on May 6, on trails. You all are so motivating so I'd thought I'd join you here if that's o.k. It may take me a while to get to know you all but I'll do my best. Have a great day.
