Cathlete
Morning, cheetahs!

Tough to get moving this morning as I had another late night. Worked on NBs - no workout.

Judy :: I knew I missed something there. Hope DS's recovery is going well.

Wendy :: it's too early to tell for me re: the 5 miler, but it's a possibility.

Here is a link to the Sheehan Classic for any East Coaster who may be interested: http://www.sheehanclassic.org/ It's Saturday, June 14.

Sunny :: great workout! I ordered the forearm guards yesterday. My low back still feels a little "off." Do you (or Christine) have any recommendations for sites or books where I can really work on form?

Wendi :: "Hellbent for leather?" Not sure I've ever heard that one, but it made me chuckle. :) We do have some curious expressions, don't we? Have a great day & take it easy on that foot.

Warm hellos to everyone else! Have a great day!

Good morning Cheetah babes!

My workout is done for the day...well, my morning workout, that is. I still have Haymax around 11:30 today :p. I did ME LB split, (no abs...got core on tap for tomorrow), then BC LB only twice. WOW, what a little leg frier }(! The LB in BC was the toughest part because there are no breaks. I have to admit that I had to pause the DVD for a couple of seconds to get my HR down. I will definitely be doing this little combo again.

Wendy - I think I'm in for that 5 miler. I was a little worried about it being in the summer but it starts at 8:30 so no worries there! I was NOT looking forward to a hot one, I can tell you. Thanks for the hugs!

Cathy - Thanks for the link! Sooooo, will you be joining us??? Pretty please??? I really admire your dedication...you are really plowing ahead on those boards!

Gotta get moving. I'm not sure if I'll have achance to check in tonight or not. It will be a late night at work and I'm meeting DSO for a nibble later so it could get kind of late. Have a great day everyone!

Good Morning Cheetahs.

Cathy: Thanks for the race date. I just wrote it down. Watch out cause if Shelly and Wendi can both make it we may just plan to come kidnap you so you wont have a choice but to join us!;) :7 :p

Wendi: OUCHEES on that leg burner!!!}( Enjoy haymax...NOT! But DO enjoy nibbling your DSO. ;) That would be awesome if you came down for the Sheehan. I wrote it on my calander so I'm there baby!}( I have a party to attend that evening but that's it so it's no problemo for moi. LOL

So I have yoga on tap for today. That's it. YAY! I also have a bit of the crud coming on. GRRRR. I'm taking airborne so hopefully it doesn't turn into anything nasty.

BBL!:)

Good morning cheetahs

Cathy...was that guy Steve, doing the snatches on that you tube video?? He did look very strong. Glad you got in some NB work last night. Hope your day goes smooth today.

Wendy...Yes, the circuit yesterday was a fun one. You have a point, I might be able to save money if I don't buy all that is recommended!! Good job getting in the leg workout while the little guy was still awake. Enjoy yoga today and I sure hope the Airborne stops anything!! So many people around me have been sick...you feel like inevitably you will get it...I hate that!

Wendi...I have heard that saying but never quite understood it either! Congrats on the STS order. I guess I just think this is too good of a deal to pass up with only paying $5 something a DVD (and besides it is Cathe!). Luckily though I have all the equipment. Yes, the knee has been doing good, I will know more tomorrow when I run. Do you think lower impact cardio is better for your foot pain? Great little leg fryer today! Have fun with Haymax.

I am doing another total body circuit today using my EXT for the cardio, maybe DM, as I am not sure yet...

Have a great day...:)

Good Morning Cheetahs!

Well, my bike trainer is broken. Jimmy decided to start his chewing career on the yellow plastic handle that allowed me to adjust the wheel tension. It just spins in thin air now. I can probably get a replacement part, so it’s not as bad as it seems, but I won’t be using it for a few days at least. *sighs* It’s a good thing he’s so darned cute! So today will be HLX with some abs from Cotter’s Extreme Kettlebells. So far, DH is expected home on Friday. It’ll be nice, but strange to see him after so much time.

I’m actually thinking about putting together a kettlebell/P90X body weight rotation (using only the body weight exercises from P90X). I can finally pump out some push ups on my toes comfortably (thanks kettlebells for working my core so hard!), and it seemed like a fun thing to do. I’ll probably start in 2 weeks (when I can add meat back to my diet).

Lorie – I’ll bet your day off on Monday felt wonderful. Sounds like you really needed that day.

Cathy – Glad you’re managing to pull yourself out of the muck and on to dry land with the NB’s! You are working sooo hard! So you ARE feeling it after the kb workout? They are pretty interesting, aren’t they? I’m in awe of him as well – there’s another video I have posted under my message to Carole – amazing man.

Lori – I’m on the fence on STS, too. I have my preorder, but I’m really thinking about it. I don’t typically like the train that heavy, and I’m in love with kettlebells right now. I’m just going to leave the preorder there until I make up my mind. :p I am constantly amazed at my friends who are supposedly taking care of themselves and the junk they eat – then they wonder why they are not losing weight. But, I think it’s a vicious cycle – you eat crap, so you feel like crap, so you eat more crap. I honestly don’t think most of America knows how to eat properly (and are unwilling to try).

Wendy – Sounds like a great workout you got yesterday.

Judy – Sounds like you’re getting ready for your trip! Enjoy your workout and great job at even doing 3 chin ups!

Shelly – I did conquer the Red Zone, and would like to Have Mercy today, but alas Jimmy decided I should not. :p One more night right? Then a nice stretch off? Have fun with your workout!

Carole – I love using PLB in a mish mosh! I heavy up, but I know you’re doing a more freestyle training. But getting the lactic acid out between exercises, it’s great! How was it for you? How’d your chiro appt go? There’s another video about Steve that’s amazing – he’s playing around with a couple of other guys – so you have to listen to the chatting for a bit – then WOW - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Yr75_WwKAc

Jackie – Oh, I want to see the pics of your house!! I’ll have to go over to the Yahoo group! How exciting! Is it a total mess at your house right now? I hate having work done while it’s being done, but once it’s over – it’s wonderful!

Thomasina – Glad to hear you’re feeling better! It’s hard to stay on track when you’re sick. I think your plan is a good one!

Sunny – great workout! I love swings!

Wendi – you had me laughing about your mare. Too funny! Thanks for sharing! Sounds like you’re getting your cardio back – good job at going a bit easier! I’ll bet you feel so much better. I’m a cardio junkie, too. Hope HayMax goes well!

Time to get moving – I’m having a tough time like everyone else, getting moving. So I don’t have as much time this AM as normal. Have fun all! Oh, Title Nine Sports has some really cute things this year (not cheap, but CUTE) – www.titleninesports.com. I just got their catalog. They have a lot of outfits that go from gym to street. I like ‘em to go out for a bite to eat after a long hike.

Morning Ladies!

I was off the whole day y-day. I stayed up late the night before studying/reading and we all overslept. Nothing like running to catch the school bus when you have sleep in your eyes. To top it off I woke with a slight sore throat. It feels better today, but my energy level seems low. :( I guess two hospitals nearby went on bypass mode the other day, due to this horrible Influenza going around. They were turning ambulances away because they were filled to capacity. Shelly, maybe there was some truth to your hospital report??? I'm going to stick w/P90X -S&A and ARX. I think I'll hold off on cardio today until I have more energy.

I have to get DS to preschool, but I hope to get back after my workout to catch up here.

Have a good one everyone!

Quick post to say that I just got a call from DH - he's still in his home town and was supposed to leave today, but he's really really sick now. They are running blood tests to see if it's malaria. He's way too sick to travel - severly hydrated from the illness (think everything that pepto takes care of and he has it). I may not allow him to go to India ever again! He will not be home until Sunday at the earlist.

Good morning Cheetahs!

Posh - Glad you're feeling a little better. I'm sure you will be fine with your BFL plans.

Christine - Laughing at your comment about Steve looking like a monkey. Should have made the workout more interesting since it gave you something to laugh about. Can't watch You Tube at work. Will have to wait until I get home to see the clip. Sorry to hear Jimmy chewed on your trainer. Wonder if he was trying to tell you something. It's not a mess at my house yet because I haven't packed not one thing. I did collect some boxes yesterday. So, that's one step closer.

Carole - So far I haven't been too intrigued by NROL either. Just not ready to give up the videos yet. Enjoy your workout today. Think you will be ready for a run tomorrow?

Wendy - Hope your rotation change works out. DBF got my PP from Wal-Mart. Enjoy yoga today. Repeat after me - crud be gone, crud be gone!

Judy - Hope DS heals quickly.

Cathy - Did you sleep well last night? Girl, it sounds like you could use a few extra hours added to your day just for you. You will be rewarded for all of your hard work.

Wendi - Just be careful with the foot. I know it's hard not to do cardio when the body craves it. Let you in on a secret. I didn't preorder STS. What's wrong with me??? I may or may not regret it later after I hear how everyone loves it. How's Ms. Fall Down Horse? :) Haymax sounds like fun. x(

Dallas - You too? Hope you're not coming down with something. Feel better.

I did Timesaver #5 this morning. The leg workout in the middle of the week is working well. Makes that run on Saturday a little easier.

We have beautiful sunshine today. Temp should be in the 70's. Enjoy your day ladies!

Jackie

Cathy - didn't see your post asking for help with kb's. The absolute bible of kettlebells is Enter The Kettlebell by Pavel. It's a book. There are also two encyclopedias - one by AOS and one by Steve Cotter that are supposed to be incredible - you'd only need one. I couldn't tell you which one to pick as both are good. Forearm protectors - if you can't find them at your local sporting goods store, Amazon has them - I'd recommend something like - http://www.amazon.com/Adidas-Dipped...e=UTF8&s=sporting-goods&qid=1205329365&sr=8-9 I also wearing gloves now as I was getting nice calluses, and I don't want to get those. :p

Hi ladies,

afraid I won't be able to post much as my studying for my advanced PT cert. has begun:)

christine- sorry to hear about dh being sick. sending healing vibes.

wendy- oh no not again. don't let the crud get you.

dallas- i hope you feel better soon. don't push it today.

cathy- agreed with christine. also check out www.artofstrength.com he has great video clips for various exercises. if you sign up for his newsletter he sends a new mini clip each week. also try youtube.com. lots of great info. oh and another dragondoor.com. HTH

jackie- i don't think anything is wrong with you for not ordering STS. maybe later on you will decide you want it.

carole- have you tried your mr. eraser on the walls yet? i agree STS is definitely a good deal price wise!!

today's workout was HIIT on the treadmill. i went so fast i thought i was going to puke for a minute}( :p .

have a great day to anyone i might have missed.

Good morning cheetahs! One more night at work tonight and then its a nice 4 nite stretch off :) Yesterday I did a new itrain with a free credit. I did #16 Itri sprint. OMG What a sweat fest!! They claim you burn 800+ calories with this workout and I believe it
Since I don't wear a HR monitor I have no way of knowing this for sure but it sure did feel like it. Got in some good cleaning and painting work and then later did Timesaver #5- leg work.... no wonder I slept so hard last night!

Jackie- Thanks for sharing the pics of your new house. Its LOVELY!!
Even your mailbox is impressive. How nice that you have a dedicated workout room too!! Looks like we are both doing the timesavers now.

Thomasina- Glad to hear you are finally starting to kick that nasty bug!! Hope work is gong well for you.

Christine- That was an interesting clip of Steve cotter. My jaw dropped watching that one legged leap on the table:eek:   Your poor DH!!! After all he's been thru with this trip.... keep us posted. I didn't Jimmy had a naughty chewing side too him but I guess that's pretty universal with puppies... off ALL the things to pick to chew also... just when you got your bike in order too!

Carole- Your getting in some creative kickbutt circuits there!!
Hope your knee behaves for your run tomorrow!

Cathy- It's mind boggling to me the amount of work you are pouring into the NBs!! I sure hope it's worth it. Is is vaguely possible you could make it to the Sheehan classic? It is a very nice race... pretty course. If you check out their website you will see me in the results. I placed 6th last year in the 50-55 yr old females.

Wendi- LOL about Haymax!! I would think that would qualify as an excellent UB workout all on it's own! I would think you could get in a good low impact cardio workout without aggravating your foot very much. The Sheehan Classic is actually held in RedBank, NJ and it would be beyond awesome if you could make it!

Wendy- Hope you can work that crud right out of your body with your Yoga workout today. What is your fav yoga dvd anyway?

Dallas- Flu is always an issue this time of year all over the country but I know anecdotely that with my hospital anyway this really wasn't the case. Did you see my note to you yesterday about the Run for the Cheetah in Chicago?

I think I'm about caught up. My plan for today will be to get in as many Upperbody Timesavers as I can... we'll see if I can do all 4!

ShellyC

Jackie – Hope the packing goes smoothly! And glad to hear the leg workout in the middle of the week is working well. It may work out that you’ll want STS just when I’m deciding I don’t want it. I’ll work something out with you! :p Yeah, I think Jimmy was trying to tell me something – it’s “I need MORE exercise!!!” So, we’re playing often today. :p

Sunny – thanks for the healing vibes! Good luck with the Advanced PT Cert! You’ll be great! I think you also need to go RKC. :p Good info you passed on to Cathy!

Shelly – glad you have a nice 4 night stretch after tonight! You deserve it! Great workout today!! Steve is pretty amazing, isn’t he? He’s really muscular (well, duh! To be able to do that, he’d have to be), but he also very flexible. He attributes that to kettlebells. :p (no, not to enable!). I will keep y’all posted on DH. I feel so bad for him – I know he wants to come home. On the trainer - I’m hoping REI will think it just popped off! It’s not totally chewed – it’s only chewed where it would attach to the base – and it looks as if it broke off. Ironically, this is Jimmy’s first big ticket item for chewing. He is really not much of a chewer, but I think the plastic was just too tempting! That, and I think he’s bored. He was supposed to go to doggie day care today, but he banged his head and has a little strip of lose skin that I’m afraid another dog would rip off in play. So, I’m keeping him home. He’s such a BOY! I’ve had male dogs before, but none who remind me of a little boy getting into everything and creating all sorts of trouble like Jimmy.

I ended up doing Steve Cotters Upper Body video and mixed it in with HLX. That’s a tough workout if you use the right weights. I just needed to throw something heavy around after hearing from DH this morning, so I added them in there. I also did one of his 10 minute abs workouts – tough and thorough. If he’s not doing around-the-body passes, he does not look as much like a monkey. :p My lats are arms are on fire. I did about 10 minutes of his 20 minute cardio circuit – great workout, but after the heavy upper workout I had, I was an accident waiting to happen. :p

Hello my Cheetah friends! MIA cheetah reporting in. This week is zooming by. DH left on Sunday to go to AL and MS. He won’t be home until this Sunday. In the meantime the kids and I are hanging out and doing our normal routine. Monday night around 9 I got a call from DS’s T-ball coach. He told me DS’s first practice was the following day. It left me scrambling after work yesterday. Practice started at 6 p.m. but I don’t get off work until 5. That left me an hour to pick the kids up at daycare, feed them a little something along the way, and make it to the ballpark. The Tuesday night practices will definitely be rushed every week, but DS had so much fun. It will be worth it. He has never played before. On top of this, and the normal chaos, my office manager is out of town until tomorrow. I’ve been swamped with work. That is why I haven’t been able to check-in with everyone.

My inlaws are coming into town tomorrow night and staying until Sunday. They will be a tremendous help with the kids. I have my 10K Saturday morning and will need to leave my house at 5 a.m. to go pick up my race packet and get ready for my race at 8:30. Afterwards I will rush home to take DS to his T-ball practice at 1:30. Then Sunday my DD’s Sunday School teacher will be gone so she asked me to teach her class. Of course, I said yes because I am weak and always want to help if I can. I feel fortunate that I have great inlaws that want to help me out and spend so much time with their grandkids.

Well, this is way too much info about me. Sorry this is so one sided. I just want everyone to know why you probably won’t be seeing me around much until Monday. I miss talking with everyone. WAVES to my Cheetah Girls!!

Hello Again!

Christine ~ Your poor dh! :( Definitely sending healing {{VIBES}} LOL on the monkey business. :7 Nice workout! I just got a magazine from the health food store called Taste of Life http://www.tasteforlife.com/. It has some good articles this month about the different food we should be eating for our age. IA with what you said to Lori about food choices.

Shelly ~ Nice workout! I did see your link. I'm waiting for the new outdoor soccer schedule. I'd like for someone to run with me. I'm a fraidy cat. ;-) I know when I heard that about the hospital and woke with a sore throat, I thought **OH NO!!* I had nightmares from last year. How the heck do you stay so healthy working in a hospital?!?!

Sunny ~ Now - that was a workout!!! When you feel like your going to puke, I think you've done a good job. ;-) I took a spin class from this guy who was always trying to get this other guy to puke during class. LOL!! He could have passed the can my way. ha ha! Yep, no cardio for me. I think that worked out well.

Jackie ~ have to mosey on over to Yahoo to see your pix. Yes, it's gorgeous here too!!! :) Finally!!! We hit the 50's. :7

Carole ~ How did the appointment go y-day? Knee feeling better?

Wendy ~ Is it the throat crud again? The natural food store spoke highly of this throat syrup. I took some just now. **crossing fingers** I had to laugh when you popped open a Bacardi instead of doing core the other night. :+

Wendi ~ WOW! on the leg workout over there!! Have any DOMS yet? Enjoy Haymax. :+

Cathy ~ I bet you're making some good progress w/NB. Hang in there.

Lorie ~ How are you feeling?

Judy ~ Is it just you and your hubby going away? I seem to remember something about an anniversary.

Hi to the rest of the Cheetahs!

Oh, I ended up doing exactly what I said. I actually felt better after my workout. Weird, but I'll take it. If I had added cardio I don't think I would be saying the same thing. ;-) It would have been the best day, by far, to go to the stairs. Wahhhh!!! :-( Time to get dinner rolling.

Hello...hello...hello (I hear an echo. lol)

Is anyone here preordering Tracey's new ones? I was looking at the blog. I'm intrigued by three (Core, Circuit, and Strike Zone). Oye Vay! Cha-ching! :+ However, I can't log onto her forums anymore. Anyone else have trouble?

Dh just came home from work w/102 temp. Stop the insanity!!x(

Have a good night everyone!

dallas- i pre-ordered circuit zone and strike zone.

christine- eventually i will. there is a program called crossfit that i am very interested in. they often use KB's. the cert is veeeeery expensive. i am thinking about doing just the kettlebell cert. however it's still very expensive and they sell out almost immediately after posting the new cert datex(

Hi Girls.

I'm in a wierd mood today. Feeling very blah and had to FORCE myself just to do 30 minutes of yoga yet I'm bored to tears and antsy for something to do. Yeah, okay, I'm wierd but y'all should know that about me by now!:p A part of me wants to go to the gym for a run tonight. I doubt I will but ya never know! :7

Dallas: I preordered Tracey's strike zone when I was on her site some time ago when I ordered her High Intensity Kickbox and Sculpt Sweat Fest. I have done the first fifteen minutes of the k/b and have yet to try the sculpting vid!:p It's a constant internal struggle for me to stay on track with a rotation so sometimes new vids won't get tried for months! Other times I feel the need to trash whatever I'm doing to try the new stuff right away! LOL

Carole: I just reread your post to do personals and realized I am late taking my next Airborne dose. Thanks for the reminder. ;) Hope you enjoyed your circuit work out today.

Christine: A KB/X rotation? YOWZAS. Can't wait to see what that looks like!}( How terrible about your DH! I hope he recovers fast!

Jackie: I've been saying "crud be gone" to myself all day long. I actually think it's working!:7 Glad you enjoyed your work out today. Do you have a race on saturday or a training run?

Sunny: I am no stranger to slight feelings of nausea when pushing just a weeny bit too hard! LOL Glad you didn't actually hurl. That would have been ugly! :p I was watching some clips of kb moves online this afternoon. I'm starting to wonder if it's really smart to try to do this in my little work out area. Perhaps I need to re-think the KB craze....??

Shelly: So did ya get all the upper body t/s workouts in today? You are a beast! I love it!}( I am not a big enough fan of yoga to have a favorite. LOL I like Yoga X as well as Baron Baptiste though.

Kristi: Good luck with your race! Can't wait for the race report!!!!:)

K, gtg for now. Gotta feed DS and then we are going to Barnes and Noble for a browse. (I decided against the gym for tonight) He loves the Thomas the Train set up there too so I promised him I'd let him play some.:)

BBL!

We are back from B&N.

I picked up the newest issue of Muscle & Fitness Hers because it has a really cool lookin' work out in it that I just gotta try! I'm planning on doing it in place of Core Syn this week!}( If I like it I plan to incorporate it into whatever rotation I do in April. :D

Almost time to get the munchkin ready for bed. Actually it's PAST his bedtime but since we don't have work tomorrow I am letting him stay up a bit later.;)

I'll be back in a bit to see if anyone popped in!

Excuse me from personals tonight, ladies. The crud has made a resurgence and I think the danged cold is kickin' in. Persistent little bugger. I just downed some Airborne and will head to bed soon.

Just wanted to say: Christine :: Big (((HUGS))) comin' your way. You must be worried sick about DH. I hope it is not malaria. I'll be wishing for a full and speedy recovery for him.

Thanks, Christine and Sunny for the kb info. I did order the forearm guards last night from the site Sunny recommended.

Carole :: I'm not sure if that was Steve Cotter or not?

Re: the Sheehan Classic, I'm interested but don't know yet about that weekend. It's my mom's 60th birthday, so it depends on what the family winds up planning.

OK, I'm off!
