:: CHEETAHS :: Wednesday :: Bust Butt!

RunninTeach

Cathlete
Good morning, cheetah dears!

Wendy :: enabling? Well, you did ask. :) Actually, I still think it probably would be prudent to wait a few more weeks. (If you look on the WM, bugs, and suggestions forums, you'll see that people are running into issues with WM.) But, for me, the number I saw yesterday screams EMERGENCY. I haven't been weighing myself regularly, and my eating definitey has not been consistent for months, so this is a tool that very much meets my needs at the moment. I felt full yesterday, and did fairly well on my "report card." Mostly A's, some B's, a C in Omega 3's, and F's in potassium (too low), niacin (too high, but that's 'cuz of my GNC multi-vitamin), and sodium (too high)...great workout! Do the Power Circuits require a lot of coordination?

Gloria :: I wound up doing well with the eating yesterday, and as mentioned to Wendy above, I felt full and satisfied. I think I got the scare I needed...love your new avatar!

Karen :: I opted for the $9.99 membership for one month, but I do want to upgrade. I'll wait til I go back to school, and regular paychecks are flowin'. I used to use FitDay, too, and then WW. I like this best.

Judy :: I forget how I did the color in my signature...I'll go back in and play around...Yes, initially I was supposed to meet a friend there, but his business schedule didn't pan out. Then my aunt (the one I always stay with in Germany) was going to go, but she changed her mind. Then I just figured, what the heck. I'm goin', anyway!...Have fun trying the kettlebells today.

Wendi :: hope the horse show is a success today. Is it raining up by you?

Gonna check what's doin' with the weather here, and then head out for a run if we're in the clear of the t'storms. Had some last night. I tried Winsor Pilates' Buns & Thighs last night--oh, my gosh! That completely burned up my tush. I really underestimated that one.

Have a great day!

Judy :: did you see Emily (materialsgirl)'s tip she posted in the O/F about going to your User CP, Edit Options, and then at the very bottom where it says Miscellaneous options, choose Enhanced Interface - Full WYSIWYG Editing. That'll make text formatting (bold, colors, etc.) easier when you post and also when you set up/edit your signature. HTH.

Good Morning Girls.

It's dreary out there this morning which means that work is probably gonna be a nightmare since the kids can't do things outside.

As soon as DH gets home from work we have to bolt to the alley to prebowl for this coming Monday. I hope we continue our streak and do well so we can move up another couple of spots. DH's new ball has set him on fire! He is kickin' some serious bootay with it. Unfortunately though, he will be dealing with dry lanes this afternoon and THAT is not a good thing. Oh well, I guess we will try our best!

So my upper body is FRIED! I am soooo sore! I am thinking I will be switching up bi/tri and legs and doing legs FIRST/today. I think the u/b needs a break. YEOWCH! So today will be 4DS Legs and kickbox. Painful but fun! LOL

Cathy: Thanks for additonal info on the nutrition program. I am "sold" but will take your advice and wait it out a bit. I am currently using FitDay so I will just continue until they've cleaned up the program a bit more. I hope this program gives you the tools you need to take back control of your eating. I find logging my food helps tremendously...USUALLY. I have been having issues in the weight arena lately as well DESPITE my use of FitDay. It's only a matter of a few pounds but that's where it starts. :( I know I have been cheating a little too much but I didn't think I was being THAT bad and now I get to go on vacation and eat even WORSE! :eek:The upside though is that we have an efficiency room and will be buying some easy foods for breakfast and lunch. I will make sure I buy what I would normally eat if I weren't being bad. No crap. Maybe I can keep the cheats down to just the alcohol :p and dinner. Couple that with my intended work outs while I am there and perhaps there is hope for me. LOL

Okay...THAT was a novel! LOL

BBIAB!

Cathy: Almost forgot to answer your question. No, IMO the power circuit blasts do not require lots of coordination. They are very basic moves. In the first one you go over the step and she puts a turn in. I hate the turn so I just leave it out. I think you would do fine with it.

Wendy :: yeah, it's dreary here, too. Sounds like the t'storms won't be back til this afternoon, though, so I'll head out shortly...I am joining you in some DOMS today. Just tri's for me. Forgot how much of a burner PH is...IA, logging food does help. I think it's crucial for me. I just stopped doing it consistently at one point, and that was clearly a mistake...Thanks for the info on Power Circuits. It's so funny that you did that one because I was going through my DVD collection yesterday, looking for circuits. (I was thinking doing all circuits in my next rotation might help with fat loss. Any thoughts on that?) Anyway, I came across BM2 (which I never do) and the Power Circuit segment caught my eye...That sounds like a good damage control plan for vaca. Enjoy legs & k'boxing!

ETA: Dining advice needed! I am going to dinner tonight at a place that doesn't offer too many healthy options. What do you think of this salad with the grilled chicken, no croutons, dressing on the side?

Aztec Salad
Romaine lettuce tossed with queso fresco, chile garlic croutons & aztec dressing…$5
*Add Grilled Chicken…$3.00 *Add Grilled Shrimp…$4.50

We'll probably get the chips and signature homemade guacamole as an appetizer as well, but I'll limit myself here.

HI Cheetahs!

Cathy- Thank you for the info on how to add color. I will check it out. I am glad the nutrition page is helping. Being that this is Cathe and Chris, I imagine the bugs will get worked out soon. In the mean time you did great yesterday on your report card! I will not receive Kettle bells until after my workout time, so I 'll have to do them tomorrow.

Wendy- Your plan to eat healthy breakfast lunch and snacks is my favorite way to vacation, especially with a family. It just helps with portion control. OK I have screamin' biceps and chest today thanks to 4DS upper body!

This morning will be a kick box workout of some kind and core. I am seriously considering STS now after holding out for all this time. I am back on the fence, but I spent so much $$$$ on the kitchen bar stools that DH is not likely to go for it. I also had a purchase from Cutco Knives. A friend's daughter is selling them for her summer job, and I felt that I should make a purchase to help the kid out. But, man are they expensive! I only bought scissors and a petite carver for $168.00. Well, perhaps the presale will last a bit longer.

Cathy: What is queso fresco? Aside from not knowing what that is, it sounds okay to me. They don't list nutrition info online? I wish all restaraunts would do that. It would make life so much easier. The only other suggestion I have is if you can find a plain chicken dish or a chicken dish that you can request the sauce be left off of or whatever.
I think doing circuits would be a good idea. I've always wanted to try it but I find it quite hard to create a circuit only rotation w/o feeling like I would be overtraining at some point. I've always wanted to alternate upper and lower body circuits but I don't think there enough options available in my dvd collection to make a 4 week rotation and I am too lazy to create my own. LOL

Judy: I will keep my fingers crossed for you that the STS presale lasts long enough for you to be able to take advantage of it, if that's what you want to do. Happy to hear I have company in 4DS DOMS! LOL

Cathy- thanks for the help on adding color!

Wendy- add shoulders to the DOMS list now too!

IA it can be hard, mentally and physically, to do a 4 week rotation with all circuits. But how about a week of circuits alternated with a week of either a 3-4 split or total body/ cardio of choice ? then repeat? I don't know how it would play out, but it sounds doable.

Good morning cheetahs

Cathy...I hope the neuro appt will answer some questions. Thanks re Beau. He is doing great now. Good workout yesterday. Sorry about the scale fright. I seem to be stuck at the moment just maintaining, it drives me nuts, as I need to loose about 10 more lbs. Thanks for explaining the nutrition program, I might check it out in a few weeks. I'd be interested in the chat too, but the 3 hour difference could be a challenge! I have also had some issues with the WM program and Calendar. My workouts disappear and I get other peoples. Hope they get those bugs fixed soon. I have that Pilates workout, it is a burner. Have a good run.

Wendy...I used to run with one of my dogs a lot. Until there got to be too many unleashed dogs in the neighborhood!! I am looking forward to it with Beau...thanks, he has been a healthy (very active) puppy since his sick incident. Great workout yesterday.

Judy...thanks re Beau. he has kept me busy ever since he got better!

Karen..sorry about the hot run yesterday. Humidity can be not fun at all. Thanks re Beau, he has recovered quite well...:)

Jackie...Glad you got here!! It is something that I soon remembered about puppies, they eat everything on the ground! Good workout yesterday.

Christine...You guessed it, I was in a panic monday watching poor Beau. It has probably been 15 years since I had a "puppy", so you tend to forget things. I was so happy he recovered and started bouncing around again...:)..Sounds like a fun run with Jimmy yesterday. Nice too you can take him to the office.

Gloria...it was scary with Beau. I am so happy he got better quick. Puppies DO take a lot of your time don't they!

Today is P90X+ Total Body and a 4 mile run. Yesterday Beau was watching me workout and then wanted to play, by biting my calves! He is too cute...

Have a great day...:)

Good morning cheetahs! Some improvements to the forums since I've last visited. Hopefully my avatar works! I missed yesterday's:(.. with all this shuttling back and forth between NJ and Philly I'm pressed for time lately. Hopefully it will calm down in a few weeks. Everything is going okay re: purchase of our new home in Pa. We're so confident we've rented trailers for ONE MORE move!!!.

Just returned from a sweaty 4 mile run but at least the temps were cooler if not dryer. In a bit I'll be heading back to Philly (I'm in NJ now) and I'll get in a good circuit workout before naptime... work tonight:)

Cathy- I gather you signed up for one of the memberships... they do look like a good deal to me and it sounds like so far you're a satisfied customer. Dining out is a challenge when you're on a diet isnt it? No wonder we have such an obesity epidemic in this country when you look at a typical menu. At my current job I've already taken care of more people than I can count who weigh WELL over 350lbs. Sorry for digressing....

Wendy- Good luck with the bowling tonight and I hope work isn't as bad as you are predicting. I did Kbox 4DS yesterday evening... that one does sneak up on you! Love the leg workout too.

Judy- Haven't chatted with you in a bit! Sounds like you are doing well.
I'm surprised you didn't spring for STS yet. Rats, you do have a dilemma! Sounds tho like they still have alot of editing work etc to do so I'm guessing you still have some presale time left.

I need to start moving and get back to Philly before the traffic gets wicked. Hopefully I can check back in later.

Hi Carole! Posting together now... you're up early as usual! Sounds like you're having fun with your cute new puppy! I'm holding off on trying out the WM until they iron out the bugs... no time for it anyway!

Shelly

Good Morning Cheetahs!!

Cathy – thanks for the insight on Cathe’s Nutrition software. It does sound cool! I just know myself, and WW is the easiest way for me to track. :p I would love to see the Great Wall, as well – but that’s pretty far from Beijing. Hong Kong is cool – I’ve flown in there and the city is gorgeous (Singapore, too). I’m glad you enjoyed your trip to Amsterdam! I would love to visit there. I think I’m weird about traveling alone. I’ve done it for business trips, and I just don’t enjoy it as much. I admire you for being more self reliant! Enjoy your run with your burning tush! Your dinner option sounds good – find out if it has cheese and sour cream … on it – sometimes they do.

Wendy – sounds like you have your Ocean City equipment planned out! That’s great! Love that I idea for HIIT – the blasts from BM2. You’re very creative! I like cleaning the house when no one is home, too – it stay cleaner longer and I can enjoy it more.

Gloria – I’m sure there are plenty of places in China that are nice, but the big cities are not. I’m sure Pip will love being your running companion. Enjoy her now. :p

Judy – I’m glad DD17 enjoyed her trip to China. We’ve taken our kids to India, which is similar (not as bad according to DH, but it’s still not the US). I think it invaluable to the kids to learn that not everyone has it like the US. And the home stays make it so much better. Oh, you get your kettlebell tomorrow? Enjoy! My DS25 did the CutCo thing one year – what a rook. The knives are good, but we had to put them away because they were too sharp and I wanted to keep my hands intact – I’m not the most graceful creature on earth. :p :p

Wendi – I’m thinking of ya today, girl! You were getting up when DD19 was going to bed! Ouch!! :(

Carole – Oh sounds like you’re having a fun time with Beau! I love puppies! I can so absolutely understand that you were in panic mode when he was sick. There are so many things a puppy can get in to, and they’re just the sweetest little guys. Enjoy him.

Shelly – I see your avatar! Cute pup! I’ll bet you’ll be so happy once you’re settled in your new home. Good luck with getting back to Philly before wicked traffic time!!

I’m a little sore from my run (I was sore to begin with though), but that’s okay. Today I’m doing PUB Up Only with a coworker over lunch. Then I’m going for a 14 mile bike ride after work with another coworker. So it should be a fun day. I got to sleep in this morning. Have a great day all!

Hump Day!

Hi Girls!

I have to be brief, but will come back later. There's a lot going on here in addition to what you already know. I never thought I'd want summer to be over so quickly. :(

Y-day's workout was a flop because I started having this pain on the side of my foot. Like Cathy said, I guess we'll get all sorts of weird pains, etc. After the Monday's 4 miles I felt a pulling, but no pain. During Sat's long run I didn't feel anything. I rolled my foot a bit on some stupid round thing (most have fallen off a tree). Nothing hurt though. That was the first long run w/my new Brooks, but no orthotics. I kept it low impact today using the spin bike and EXT for cardio. I did 4D-CTB and 4D abs. Whewie, that 4D weight work was harder than I remember!

I have to be out of here in an hour with the kids. Oh, I'm so happy about the smilies! ;) I need to play around with the User CP option a bit more.

Have a good day.

Dallas

Hi! I'm back for a minute to report a workout. KB of 4Ds plus power drills of Cardio Kicks ( starting with sequential power kicks ) then core of 4DS. In another hour I will head over to yoga class.

Shelly:: I held off on STS and figured that the MP# version would be more affordable. i am thinking I'll stick with my original plan now.

Christine:: The knives are good quality. Did you know the company is located in Western NY just a couple of hours from here?

Wendy:: Ok, Even my triceps are sore now...That makes a complete set of sore upper body muscles here!

Carole:: Oh you must be very busy keeping up with Beau! I cannot imagine you needing to lose 10 pounds.

Hi Wendi and Jackie and Gloria and Karen!

Dallas:: Hi I just missed you post. I am sorry about the foot pain! perhaps a day of rest and it will be better! Houw about ice and ibuprofn. Rolling also helps me quite a bit with my chronic PF issues.

Good Morning!

Wendy: What new fitness book did you get? Sorry if I missed it in an earlier post. Thanks re: the chat. :)

Wendi: Hope work isn't too bad for you.

Cathy: Thank you re: my avatar. I am just having fun here on the new site. Congrats on good eating yesterday. I did well too, except for a little cheese I put in my red beans and rice. I like pilates too, just haven't done it in a while. Have a great run! I hear you on the paychecks coming back in. I just balanced my checkbook, YIKES!! LOL! I really like BM2.

Judy: Thank you for the nice comment about my siggy. I really love the new site. Enjoy the kb workout today!

Carole: It is nice to know that I am not alone caring for active pups. Tiring, but so worth it in the long run. I have been putting Pip in the kennel when I workout. Have a great run today. I would have been stressed like you were if Pip was sick like that.

Shelly: LOVE your new avatar. Very pretty dog. Oh joy, only one more move. :) MI has a very high obesity rate unfortunately.

Christine: How fun to have workout friends today. I am enjoying Pip. I am enjoying that she is napping right now so I can do some things around the house! LOL! She truly is a gem.

Rest day yesterday. When Pip was napping I was playing around on the new site and lost my window of opportunity, so today will be my run. If Pip is up when I am ready, she will just have to go in the kennel. I have to eat something and tutor here in a bit. BBL!!

Good morning Girls. Today was PUB along with those abs and then just the floor work on the stability ball from PLB. No run today. I need to rework my long run this week so I'll be doing that tomorrow since my dd has a dental apt Friday which is normally when I do my long runs.

Cathy- We had T-storms here too last night. Knocked out the power too. All the kids were in bed with me and dh in three seconds flat.

Judy- Those knives are a ton of money. My sister has some and I know how pricey they were for her. Enjoy your yoga.

Carole- Gread job on the workout. What team NFL cheetah are you? We live in MD so you would think we would be Ravens fans but we are 100% Giants. How on earth do they trade Shockey? What do I do with all my Shockey Shirts.

Shelly- Haven't been on the boards in sometime but I do remember you and all your help in the past. I hope you have luck with your move. Now your closer to me on the east coast.

Christine- Seems like PUB was what the doctor ordered for the both of us. Enjoy the bike ride

Dallas- Sorry to hear about the foot problems. I have had my fair share that sidelined me in the past. Hope you feel better.

Wendy- Ah Ha. The mind of a three year old who thinks they are smarter then mommy. My girls are 11,9 and 6 but they still sometimes push their luck when leaving my parents house. They conviently always have one more thing to say to them or one more thing to show them. It doens't get better they just get smarter with there tactics. :)

Dallas: I am sorry you are having pain. Good idea to keep it low impact. I am looking forward to fall already too. I think I would rather work than be off. Wierd I know, but that is just who I am.

Karen: Yes, Pip is a dog. She is an 8 week old Setter who keeps me quite busy! :)

Judy :: ITA with your comments about Cathe/Chris. I'm patient in that regard, and the software works well enough for me. As you can see from comments elsewhere on the boards, some people get more frustrated than others with some of the glitches, so I felt I should mention them. One of my friends sold Cutco knives in college--they are good knives but pricey.

Wendy :: queso fresco is a Mexican cheese. A quarter cup is 90 calories and 5 g of fat. No, no nutritional info online or on the menu. It's a local spot. A very good, Mexican-inspired restaurant, but I will have to keep myself in check. How was work?

Wendy/Judy/anyone :) :: I was thinking of something along these lines:

M - HSC
T - run
W - HSTA (in later weeks, I could bring in DM, BC, LIC or their various premixes or mish-moshes)
R - run
F - k'bells
S - yoga
S - long run

Carole :: What would be a good time for a chat? 6 pm your time? I haven't used the Workout Manager yet. I did do a 1RM exercise, but it wouldn't save, so I figured I'd wait. I don't know how much I'll use it to record my workouts, though, because I already use a running journal and a rotation calendar where I can see the month on one page...I am going to try to use that pilates routine as an add-on a few times a week. It really gets into areas that are hard to hit, IMO. Have a great run & have fun playing with Beau!

Shelly :: cute avatar!...IA, the lower temps did help. Nice not to have the sun bearing down...Yes, I went for the one-month premium membership for now. I completely agree with you about menus--oh, and portions. Hope you have a smooth commute. You are rackin' up the miles lately, huh?

Christine :: it's all about doing whatever works!...Oh really? I would have thought Beijing was in reasonable distance of the wall. But it wouldn't matter to me where I saw it. It's just one of those world wonders that has always fascinated me. I've heard good things about Singapore. My fam is crazy about Thailand and vacation there frequently. The East interests me. I would even like to see Vietnam from the historical perspective. But I'm a travel hog. You could send me just about anywhere in the world--I love to explore new cities and lands and cultures. :)...My first choice is to travel with family or friends, but if it's not possible, that'd be OK, too. You meet a ton of folks when you fly solo, and that keeps it interesting. Enjoy PUB & your ride.

Dallas :: sorry about that foot pain and how rough things are lately.

Gloria :: oh, how I heart cheese. I could never eliminate it...Have a great run & happy tutoring!

Karen :: *lol* about your company in bed last night.

I enjoyed a good 3 mile run this morning followed by the BM2 Power Circuits (on legs that quickly turned to rubber!). Fat, be blasted off!

Good morning Cheetahs! :D

Gloria - Pip is a cutie! Keeping you busy I see. Hope you get that run in.

Cathy - The floor intervals in iBi has you doing side lunges, jump rope, core work and some plyos. Sorry about the scales scaring you to death! Naughty scales. Glad you're going to show it who's the boss. :D WP Buns & Thighs is a good butt burner. The dinner choice looks good. I'm sure you will have everything under control. Glad you had a good run.

Christine - Going to the winter games would be so cool! I don't like to travel out of the states alone either. It's nice to have company to help pass the time. Enjoy your workouts with your co-workers. Didn't you have one that was doing WW with you?

Wendi - Hope the shows went well.

Wendy - Laughing here at you and DS battle. Glad you have an understanding now. ;) Those young 'uns will try you. Hope work is not too bad for you today. Good luck with bowliing.

Judy - Nice buys you made on the stools and knives. I so desperately need some new knives. Enjoy your yoga class.

Carole - Don't remember if I saw a picture of Beau. Glad you're enjoying the new addition. He does sound like he's a cutie. Enjoy TB and your run.

Shelly - It won't be long now before you're all settled in that new home. You can relax and enjoy it. Know you will be glad to cut that commute down especially with gas prices. I'm fortunate that I get reimbursed for travel when I work in another office. Glad you got in a good run. Enjoy your circuit workout!

Dallas - Sorry for the foot pain. Hope it feels better.

Karen - Hi and welcome back! Good job with PUB/PLB! I try to do the abs first at times while my arms are fresh.

I did Super Body Sculpt and went heavy. Worked up a good sweat. Did Yoga Abs too.

Happy Hump Day!
