::::: CHEETAHS ::::: Wed., 1/31

Hi Jess! I love ME, too! It is such a good feeling getting a good total body workout like that! Glad Hannah is feeling better! Glad you are enjoying the swimming! That would be an awesome thing to add!

Barb - I haven't done the B&Gs leg blast yet...but from all that I hear...it is a killer! What did you think? }(

Linda

Good morning everybody!

I come here, holding my ears and closing my eyes so I don't get the urge to tri a Sprint Triatholon! LOL. I just started swimming with an instructor 3 weeks ago and have been working that into my weekly routine. AND, everybody that knows me keeps asking WHEN I'm doing a tri....not IF. lol. I've been looking around for a sprint tri just to see.....but I'm not looking TOO hard. lol

OK....workout today was a great one. Step Jam (in place of my scheduled easy 4 miles) and then Leaner Legs. Burned over 700 calories and I'm good to go!

I'm headed to NYC this afternoon. My fiance and I are taking my boys to see The Lion King on Broadway. I'm SOOOOOOOOOOO looking forward to this!

Have a great day, ladies.

Oh, while I'm thinking about it, have you guys posted your scheduled races/runs recently???? I'm curious what everybody else is doing. I can remember posting my runs somewhere a week or 2 ago, but don't remember where!

Gayle

Gail - Hi there! Enjoy NYC and the Lion King! Good workout! It seems like everyone is incorporatint swimming! I have been looking for runs around close, but haven't settled on any yet. Since my leg gave me fits, I don't know what I will be capable of :-( Hopefully, it is fine.

Linda

Hey Gayle! It's great to see you again!! Engaged... I missed that too! Congrats & enjoy the Lion King!

So you're enjoying the swimming too?? How do you like having an instructor?? My good friend Melissa that I run with is a really good swimmer so she's going to help me out when she can. I am feeling pretty good though now that I'm getting used to the pool again. I think the harder part is going to be the transitions & getting used to going from the bike to running. I'll practice that more once the weather warms up. Good thing I have until June!! ;-) Great job on the calorie burner today!

So far my races are a HM (Indy 500) May 5th & sprint tri June 2nd. Nothing else planned yet, but I'm sure more races will come up inbetween there. There's usually a 5K in June that I do & a 5 miler on July 4th. I'm kinda seeing how my IT band is doing also. It seems like a never ending injury for me so far....;(

Have a good one.

Hey, Jess. I am loving the swimming and the way it gets my heart rate up there without all the pounding on the body! I'm a beginner, though. I have been able to swim since I was like 4, but I was never officially taught the mechanics and techniques of the strokes. My favorite is the breat stroke because of the leg kick and the way it uses your inner thighs. But I'm having 'issues' with my endurance on the back stroke and the freestyle. It will come with time, but it's frustrating how I can just run run run miles on end, but have to take a breather after 1 full lap in the pool! lol

Gayle

Linda--the Leg Blast premix was fun, but definitely challenging. Lots of repeats on the walking lunges and one-legged squats. I'm sorry about your injury, though. That sounds like it covered a lot of territory on your leg.

Gayle--from my kids' swimming: coaches have them do a lot of one-sided body drills and then put the stroke back together, e.g. do backstroke with 5 strokes on one side only, then the other, so you also are building your kick. Also, you can put a kickboard over your head on your back, and build core muscles & kick to help make to flow better when you put it back together. Also, doing dolphin kick while on your back (that's the butterfly kick) and using a kickboard or just holding hands in a triangle position above your head. really helps strengthen the core.

Good morning cheetah friends,
I am now the very proud owner of the life fitness x30 elliptical crosstrainer. I LOVE LOVE LOVE it!!!! I used it yesterday and it is quiet and it is easy to program and it is just wonderful. So, today I do not have to go to the gym becuase I can workout at home, YAY!!!!!

I had my pt appointment yesterday and they said finally they are really feeling good about my back and my L3,4,5. I probably have about 4 more sessions. I am so excited. They did say that I have to start the running slow, because even though my mind is ready for the workout, my back needs me to ease into it slowly.

So, today I will do 50 minutes on my elliptical and abs and stretch. I did ME upper body last night and I tell ya it was tough}(

CAthy, can you give me the exact amount of the check again, sorry this cheetah is slacking:) Enjoy Drill Max:)

Linda, Wow, Aruba sounds heavenly. Glad you are back.

Marica, sounds like a yummy dinner last night. Today is another day for me to stay on track with the clean eating. So far, I have had a few peanut m&m's, OOPS!!!

Wendy, cam't wait to see those pic's. Have fun with Kenpo:) Oh, how is the studying going? When do you think you will take the test?

Judy, my mouth is doing okay. I get my permanent crown in a couple of weeks. Good for you for doing pilates. I really need to get a few good pilates dvd's. I have never cared for it, but maybe I did not have the right instructor.

Christine, Great workout planned! I am so intimidated by this P90x. I have the whole thing here and have never really opened it. I have done plyox and that is it. I don't want to put a chin up bar in my room. Maybe after I see Wendy's pics I will get into it.

Kristi, love love the pyramids.:)

Carole, You are a happy smiley face gal today. I love them too.:)
How is the back doing?

Jess, sounds like you are really enjoying the Ymca. That is great!!! Does allyson like going with you?

Barb, Love the butts and gutts. Have fun in your child's classroom. I love visiting my kids classes. I always leave so proud and happy to be a mom:)

Gayle, welcome back. 700 calories burned is a great way to start the day. I have not done step jam in probably 10 years.

Where is Laurie these days? I miss her posts.

Hello to everyone that follows. I am off to watch Curious George with my little one.

Cheers!

Susan

Hey all!! I’m back! Really enjoyed my morning workout – I feel so STRONG doing P90X! I’ll be doing part or most of Cardio Coach Choose Living again as I forgot my adapter for my iPod so I have to do what is on it already – and that’s the only thing. That’s okay – I had such fun with it on Sunday, that I’m actually looking forward to doing it again. It has given me an idea though – I’m thinking of taking all the CC’s I have and creating mish moshes of them. The hill climbs of #5, with the 10 sprints of CC CL … I think I could come up with a fun workout that way, and because each segment is separate – unlike the iTrains which are one long workout – I can do it.

Carole – definitely you should do a tri! I think you’d do fabulous! Really all it would be is a few swim lessons and you’ll be fine. The gym I just joined has a swim masters session on Wednesdays at noon and they have coaches to help with stroke, etc. I think I’ll start going as soon as it’s a bit warmer out – the pool is outside, and even though it’s heated it’s the trek to and from the pool that is killer! How about this – there’s a Napa one that is supposed to be the absolute best tri in the area. It’s already booked for this year – but there’s no reason we couldn’t start training for next… Plus it’s a 4 mile trail run – not a road run - http://www.envirosports.com/events/displayevent.php?eventid=1742

Jess – you are SUCH the Tri Enabler!!! If it weren’t for you, I wouldn’t be considering one. But, I am content to wait until next year! I want to concentrate on cycling this year and maybe get in a century ride. I’ve been going back and forth on what I want to do this year – I have a few runs scheduled, but for some reason, the cycling bug bit hard. We’ll see. What kind of Trek does Greg have? I love my Treks – I have a road bike and three mountain bikes (bought one for DH).

Barb – and DH is doing the triple century – well – over three days! I think you should go out there and ride distance with him every now and again… :p Nah, do what you want to do. But really 13 miles on a bike is really like a warm up…

Linda – yeah, I do have the bestest doggie! Everyone who meets him says so. But I did spend a lot of time training him. Of course, he’s an Aussie so he’s smart as a whip and picked everything up very quickly. I swear he’s smarter than I am – he’s done a much better job at training my DH than I have! My only saving grace is that he still eats worms off the sidewalk after it rains, and I don’t. :+ Yes, it is hard to deal with the death of a parent and it hits is such odd and unexpected ways. My mom was always so strong and her family is so long lived that I didn’t think it would happen like this. And she had lost so much weight from the cancer that her body did not look like her, so part of me refuses to believe she’s actually dead. But, I could argue that as long as I’m thinking of her and she’s a part of my life, then she isn’t really dead anyways. Thanks for the support! {{{Hugs}}} for the loss of your dad.

Gayle – wow – you are gearing up for a Tri, aren’t you? Maybe not this year, but… Sounds like you got quite the workout! Wow! Enjoy the Lion King – I so want to see that!! I’m taking DD14 to see Camelot in San Jose next weekend. It has a famous Broadway singer – Rachel York. So it should be good.

Susan – Oh, enjoy your elliptical!!!! How fun! Glad this one is the one you want and love! I’m so glad you can run again – even slowly!! P90X intimidates you? I think you’d really like it. It’s really no tougher than the GS Series or S&H just very different. And if you don’t like the cardio – do your own. What I like about it is that you do what you can – if you can do 8 reps, you do 8 reps. If you can do 20 you do 20 (then you up the weight the next time), so it’s not like Cathe were you match what she does.

Enjoy your day ladies!

Hello ladies,

I am desperately trying to find the time for a workout today. could have been this morning but, my mgr. forget to tell me the client i had rescheduled so i went to the gym this morning for nothing:( . if i do fit it in today it's supposed to be b & g abs and a steady state run.

wendy- don't sweat all the questions, keep 'em comin':) . since i work for a separate co. from the gym i get back a rate for each 1/2 hr. if someone wants an hr then i get paid double. it's a very good rate, lol. one of the drawbacks i can see is if someone is solely dependendent upon making a certain amount each paycheck because you will have clients who cancel/reschedule. if you don't train you don't get paid. our co. has a policy they must call at least 24 hrs in advance to reschedule ( or in enough time) if they don't, say for instance i had a client call in about 5 mins. before we were due to train i still get paid.

karen- i have just recently become a personal trainer. i've been doing it full time since last week, lol.

cathy- yippeeeeeee!! can't wait to get my cheetah t-shirt. i plan on wearing it for my race on the 3/31.

christine- the job is going very well! thanks for asking. yes the boys are enjoying more mommy time as is mommy ;)

laura- www.freediet.com. i am not good at posting links. so let me know if you find the info.

please forgive me if i missed anyone..ds just fell asleep. i am running upstairs to workout now..lol

have a great day ladies...

Christine - eeww! Yuck! Worms off the sidewalk! LOL. Probably yummy for a doggie, though! ;) Your dog sounds great! Sounds very smart! Madison seems like she is really smart. But it is just like having a little baby! She is wearing me out! ;) (but I am not complaining....it is great!) Very good idea about combining different CC's in a file!

Susan - Congratulations on your new Ellip.! Have fun with it! I really should use mine more often. I am sure my legs would appreciate it! ;)

Linda

Hey Ladies:) Not getting on here much and it really is because of my on-line dating quest, it really cuts into my Cathe.com timex( My 2 older Girls have been home most of the week because of exams. They're home tomorrow and Friday is a professional development day. They earned their rest though, they've studies lots and I know they'll be happy with their marks. I have a great workout this morning, MIC hi/lo followed by LowMax blasts only pre-mix Woo Hoo!!! These legs are FEELING it!!}( I finished with 30 minutes yoga for hips/hams/back. I'm on my break now and back to work in about 40 minutes. My 16 year old Maytag big load washing machine died yesterday in a show of white and blue smoke while I was working out 6' away!!! I was almost ready to call those firefighters back to come and see me again but things calmed down when I unplugged it. I plugged it in a few hours later, it agitated twice then with a grand THUD gave up the ghost! I may be able to have it repaired if it isn't the transmission (WHO knew there was a TRANSMISSION in MY WASHING MACHINE!!!!) Pretty inconvenient to have no laundry!! I'm glad I taught Faith to play cribbage a few weeks ago, she can play with me while we're at the landromat!! Haven't been in one of those in decades!! Sorry to be so long winded but I missed yakking with y'all!! Oh, I'm meeting someone for coffee tomorrow and someone else on Monday:+ I am being very careful and as anonymous as is humanly possible!!!

Cathy, I PMed you yesterday:)

Marcia, I used to have an automatic starter, it was fabulous!! Enjoy!

Wendy, that's awesome that you're progressing so well with P90X. I've been good with my eating and working out creatively and the pounds are starting to shed!

Judy, hope your run was a good one and you got to stretch those hard working hamstrings:)

Christine, hey you! Sounds like you're working hard as always and having fun doing it! I'm gearing up for lots of cycling this spring 'cause I'm beginning to wonder if my ankle will ever let me run. Cycling is awesome, my best friend that talked me into last year's half says it's my turn to pick our next challenge so I'm on the lookout for a good cycling challenge this year!

Kristi, you are so right about PUB, I never tire of it!

Carole, that's fantastic for John, driving is such a huge part of independence. I think you're sister is smart to think like that, those are some powerful drugs! Are you doing a P90X rotation or mixing things up. I need to shock my body and am really trying to put together challenging workouts to do that, maybe that scary B&G premix you mentioned a while ago in a few days after my legs recover from this morning:)

Jess, you're to cute stirring things up:) I've never swam for fitness, just fun...maybe I should try it:)

Barb, have fun at your son's show and tea!!

Susan, thanks for missing me, you warmed my heart:)

All apologies to all of you wonderful Cheetahs but my time is up, I gotta get back to work!

Take Care
Laurie

Hey there ladies! Kenpo X is done. I have to say, that is a FUN work out! I really like it except for the star block segment. That one totally confuses me so I skipped it today! :p

Judy: How was your run? Did you get in those stretches? The worst thing I can ever do to myself is overbook my day. If I try to cram too much in and end up having to rush I get overwhelmed and very irritated. Once I'm like that it's very hard for me to accomplish anything so I try not to do that to myself. :)

Christine: How was spin class? I am LOVING the X and feeling AWESOME! I am seein great results! Not to mention the fact that I am actually starting to appreciate yoga *gasp* and I *AM* noticing increases in my flexibility!:)

Kristi: Definately get yourself an auto start for you car! They are great! I have one in my car and DH and I each have a remote. Well mine died first cause I used it more so I was w/o for the first part of the cold weather. I was going out there and starting the car for it to warm up every morning...ACK! That is such an 80's thing to do! ACK! LOL :p ;) :7

Carole: You have good reason for not using DB's for PLB! I see your point!}( Enjoy S&A today!!!! I found the superman-banana to be one of the easier exercises! Not that it was easy, mind you...just EASIER than others!!!

Barb: How was your visit to your son's classroom today?

Linda: My mom went to Aruba many moons ago. She loved it! Glad you enjoyed it too!

Susan: YEAY for your new toy! So now that you don't need the gym for elliptical training...will you still go for other things? I'm not sure when I'll take the exam. I want to get through all of the reading (LOTS!!!) and then I'll look over the test and see how I feel about it. I have until mid May though. :) I'm sooo happy to hear that you are almost all better! PLEASE take it easy when you get the okay to begin running again even though I know it will be hard to hold back!

Sunny: So your gym does not hire thier trainers directly I gather? I wonder why not? The cancellation policy is pretty standard I think. That's cool. It protects you as a trainer from getting jerked around. How could your mgr forget to let you know about a reschedule? That stinks. x( I hope you get a work out in today!!!

Laurie: Sorry about your washer. Maytag is a good brand though so it may be worth repairing. My mom replaced her maytag washer after 20+ years (and a few minor repairs) a few years ago but the dryer which was purchased at the same time is still going!!!! I bought Maytag when we moved into this house because I saw how dependable they are! Any luck with the online dating yet?? Glad to hear the pounds are starting to shed. Good job!:)

Hello to Jess and Gayle!:)

Okay, well I'm off to make coffee and then see if my little one wants a snack.

BBL!:+

THE SHIRTS ARE IN, and they’re GREAT!! <<happy dance time!!>>

Marcia :: no problem…if that had arrived the next day after you mailed it or even today, I’da been *very* impressed with our good ol’ USPS. ;)…I’m sure it’ll be here Thursday or Friday.

Wendy :: I know you’re are good for it :) – I just have to do it this way. I’ve organized some big bus trips in the past and have learned some things the hard way :: get the money up front! It’s no offense to anyone. :) I do like DM a lot—except the pendulums in the stability ball drill. I feel goofy doing those. I doubt you’ll be letdown on measurement/pics day! It sounds like P90’s doing great things for you. I do measurements once a month, but I think the pics are a good idea. Enjoy Kenpo! I think that’s k’boxing, right? I’ve been curious about the name…why is it “Kenpo”? *lol* about going out to start the car being a very 80s thing to do…and what is wrong with that??? ;) :D

Judy :: you strike me as someone who is very disciplined about both working out and eating. Hope the hammies stayed loose today!

Christine :: sounds like a tough workout – enjoy! How are you today?

Kristi :: yes, I did get your check. The Triaxx’s were my first running shoe (a long time and many incarnations ago!)…I loved them but had to stop wearing them because of the achilles issues. Hope you get a snow day tomorrow! :) I wouldn't mind one o' those myself!

Carole :: oh, that’s right! I forgot about the 3 barbells! Glad to hear John is continuing to piece a life back together for himself…Sounds like another typical hardcore Carole workout today!

Barb :: the leg blast is killer! I’ve only done it once & literally fell into a heap after I finished. Hope you can squeeze in the UB.

Linda :: glad you enjoyed Aruba…it must’ve been a wonderful escape from these winter temps!! I think I’d enjoy vegging out on a warm, tropical beach right about now…I remember reading somewhere that the downhill is actually harder on your body than the uphill…(((HUGS))) to you on the recent anniversary of your father’s death. Tough stuff!

Jess :: yes, I did receive your check. Endurance is my focus right now, too. I do like ME, and you’re tempting me to break my rotation, but I’ll be good. I know I’ve got that one comin’ up.

Gayle :: I believe you’re in NEPA…These guys used to offer mostly 5Ks but now they run a lot of tri’s & bi’s…you might want to check them out: www.lin-mark.com. Hope you guys enjoy The Lion King . Great show, great city!

Susan :: wow, that was quick for the new elliptical! Glad you are enjoying it so much. Nothing like a new toy. :) The shirts were $20. No problem…I’m not in a rush. :)

Sunny :: hope you enjoyed a good run & abs work. Stinks that you went to the gym for nothing! I think the client cancellation policy is excellent.

Laurie :: great to see you posting here! I’m glad you’ve been away from us b/c you’re busy workin’ your game! :) Ooh, not one but TWO coffee dates – exciting! You are starting to convince me the online dating thing has merit….We’ve missed you, too. *lol* about the washer’s transmission – I had no idea, either. Got your PM – will respond via PM tonight or tomorrow.

OK, ladies...I'm going to get these shirts ready for mailing and then tackle DM (or be tackled by it--I'm not sure which.)

Cathy :)

Since some people were wondering, I thought I'd post the checks I've received so far (I cashed them today):

Karen
Sunny
Kristi
Christine
Shelly
Jess
Colleen
Barb

OK, its time to don my cheetah shirt & get spanked by DM now. :)

Have a good night, all!
Cathy :)

ETA: A few people missed the shirt order & PM'd me about it...just wanted to let you know I am checking into the possibility/cost in placing a 2nd order.

Oh, I’m feeling P90X S&A today! Wow! Great spin, too. I really like that Cardio Coach. Funny though, but people are starting to ask me fitness and health questions. One of the girls I work with (one who did not speak to me for two months be we now go to the gym together – go figure – but I’m not going to hold grudges, they are stupid) has asked me about 5 times today, “So, do you think this is healthy?” It’s kind of funny. I feel like the food police!

Sunny – did you manage a workout? Glad to hear you’re having fun with your boys, and I’m glad you’re enjoying your job! Sounds like you have achieved what most of us would love – a job we love and the hours we want! Good for you!

Linda – I’ll bet Maddie is just as sweet as sweet can be. She probably just licks you and you melt. I love lab puppies at that age – they are priceless!

Laurie – so great to hear from you! Sounds like you’re chugging along in the world of on-line dating! We understand your focus now, but we’re thrilled when you can join us for a few! So sorry to hear about your washer! My cousin is a Maytag repairman and actually recommends going with a different brand (he services many brands). But if you’ve had it for 16 years and it does well, then who am I to question! A cycling challenge? Hmmm… there are so many to chose from! If you did a half – I’d say that cycling equivalent is a Metric Century – 100KM or 62/63 miles. Easier on the joints, tougher on the bum… But, of course, it’s up to you. I am enjoying cycling.

Wendy – yeah, I like Kenpo X – I have problems with the starblock too – I’ve done other drills but that one doesn’t make sense to me. I always feel like a scarecrow caught in a windstorm on that one. I’m enjoying my second go ‘round of the X, too. I’m feeling strong and energetic!

Cathy – GREAT NEWS *does happy dance around the room with Cathy* I cannot wait to get mine!!! I’m feeling much better today. Ready to tackle the world – well, kind of… Thanks for asking!

*dances off into the background thinking of her Cheetah Shirt and singing thanks to Cathy*

Cathy - Wow! That would be great if you could do another order! But I know it is a lot of work, so if you can't we would understand:) But if you can.....we would really love it:) Have fun doing you workout in your Cheetah shirt! :7

Christine - That is so funny about the girls from your office! Sounds like you had an awesome workout!

Wendy - glad you enjoyed your Kenpo!

Laurie - Hi there! Have a good time on your coffee dates! Good luck with your washer!

Well, I am exhausted :-( I think I am going to go to bed now. 4:00 a.m. comes awfully fast. x(

Linda

OK, we *can* do another order, BUT unless we have at least 15 shirts ordered again, we won't get that same price. The minimum order is 6, and that would wind up costing $27 per shirt. I don't think there were that many interested, but it is up to you ladies. Let me know.

I just screwed up DM...I selected the total body premix - thinking it was a timesaver. I didn't realize there was no cardio in it. Oops! Oh well. Now I know.

Talk w/ you all in the AM!
Cathy :)

I just finished reading the posts and now it's time to go. I'm so RUDE I know. Please forgive me.

I ran tonight in a light snow fall, very pretty and then did Stretch Max with the bands. Love that one.

I'm going to keep to 3 miles until the end of Feb and then ramp it up slowly.

Nite nite from frosty Minnesota.
