Hola, cheetahs…
I managed a slow, 6-mile run (not the greatest, but I did it) and stability ball abs from B&G.
Shelly :: I’m glad you have some time off to focus on the follow-up appts. and try to catch a breather! I hope the run helps you de-stress!! Does DH have a blockage? I don't believe you mentioned what was wrong exactly. Thanks for the advice re: the rotation…I’m gonna see how this flies and will listen to my body.
Judy :: thank you! I don’t feel wonderful, but I’m functioning at least! Hope you had a decent run despite the frigid temps, GI issues, and tight hammies! Yowzas! Thanks to your postcard, I now have a visual to go with it whenever you say you’re doing a canal run. Do you run over those bridges?
Laura :: hope you get a great workout in at tonight’s boot camp and it helps you snap out of your slump! I hear you on the difficulty waking up. Yet I have no trouble at all waking up early (sometimes too early!) on days that I’m off. I don’t have any wisdom to share about the intestinal issue…I assume you’ve tried a high-fiber diet? What does your doc say?
Kristi :: I admire you for working out during your lunchtime! Do you have time to shower, too? Thanks for the well wishes and the rotation advice. I usually do take 1-2 rest days per week, but I wanted to kick it up a notch now on account of the battle of the bulge! Anyway, what you’ve suggested sounds like a smart plan.
Christine :: thank you – I think those positive cheetah vibes worked on me. I know what you mean about the candy…I have a jar of Hershey’s kisses on my desk at work (a Christmas gift from a student), but so far, I’ve been good about avoiding it!
Carole :: Oops, you found me out! ;-) That is so interesting…you mean your chiropractor nephew?…How does one get his sinuses adjusted? (I am prone to sinusitis, so I’m very curious!)…With the help of meds, I do feel much, much better than I did yesterday—thanks!…still a bit headachy, sniffly, and watery eyes, but I suspect that being fit really does help us nip these things in the bud pretty quickly. Really, it’s a small wonder the way I’m surrounded by people (the kids) constantly sneezing, coughing, and hacking up all manner of germs!
Marcia :: CRACKED up about the nightmare and hopping on the elliptical! You’re too funny! Good idea re: the rotation…I will do just that…listen to my body and make adjustments if needed. I suffered a nasty setback with AT some years ago, so I am pretty careful about that and avoid pushing on foolishly. Three days—wow! Is your bar going to remain open for the week? Have fun @ tonight’s class…sounds like a nice, health-conscious treat for the b-day girl & co.
Jess :: I’ve taken a page out of your book and have decided I’m just going to plow on—bug or no bug! Have fun @ your mom’s and hope you’re feeling back up-to-snuff soon!
Susan :: first of all, you’re not whining, so don’t apologize. Secondly, you have every reason to feel frustrated. I think most of us, if not all of us, have been sidelined by injury at some point or another and we understand that you’re chomping at the bit to get back to your old form. Try to look on the positive side – you are not being totally sedentary in all this…you are still active…and you’re being conservative -- that is, smart -- in how you approach your recovery…You *will* get back to your ol’ level of intensity…just hang in there and do what you can for now! We’re with ya! Thanks for the thoughts re: the rotation…that is essentially what I have planned: cardio 4x or 5x a week and then weights 3x.
Wendy!!! Good to see ya! How is Joey? Hope your mood’s improved some today...the funk is understandable. I didn’t realize they had iTreads for the outdoors, either. I could've used someone barking in my ear today. I felt like I had cement blocks strapped to my thighs.
OK, cheetahs…I am *TUCKERED* out (Wendy, that was for you) and am going to hit the couch soon. Have a great night, everyone!
Cathy
