Cathlete
Morning, cheetahs :)

How are we today?

Laurie :: so, which KPC/LG premix did you do?

Carole :: Actually, I will be doing most of the work during the coming school year. (I have to videotape lessons and use student work for the other portfolio entries.) But the summer support classes give you a sense of direction and a leg up on one of the portfolios…Wow, you KNOW you’re a bada** when the race proclaims, “So strap on your oxygen and get ready to become an S.O.B. survivor!” *LOL* Thanks for the foam roller link. I didn’t realize there were a variety of sizes to choose from. I only saw the one size at Target and bought it.

Jackie :: I agree about the Amazon Prime...usually I go for the free shipping, anyway…I am the same about cars, too. :) So, are you burning fewer calories?…Tried to view your pic but I rec’d a timeout message. Can you repost?

Marcia :: after those storms came through, we are finally seeing some relief in weather, too…I mentioned this a few months ago…I bought the Tosca Reno book and wound up returning it to the store right away because it turned out to contain much of the exact same information included in an Oxygen special issue on Clean Eating. I don’t know if you can still get that issue in stores, but it’s only $5 as opposed to $15 for the book.

Amy :: how’s the packing coming along? Have you or any of your colleagues achieved NB cert?

Shelly :: good to see ya and know that you’re OK…yes, I upgraded to the 305 sooner than I thought I would so that I could give my dad the 201. He’s picked up a walking/running program over the past year and is now getting into the number-crunching. Hope you enjoyed the family dinner at your parents' house. How are sis & DH doing?

Wendy :: I like the way you split up GS Legs with ARX. Very creative!…That’s terrific that Joey feels so at-home with your mom.

Hi Jess & Gayle (good news about the job!)

Yesterday, I did CTX tri’s only. Will split the rest up over the next few days. Today will be S&H Legs + 200 walking lunges and possibly biceps later.

Have a great Thursday, ladies! BBL
Cathy :)

Edited to fix my rampant typos - I'm quite groggy this morning! Caffeine IV, please! :D

Morning Cheetahs!:D

Today is spin class and GSC&T Timesaver Premix.

I had a reaction to something I was using on my tat and it's driving me CRAZY! Some of the skin AROUND the tat has little red bumps on it and is itching like nuts! Since I am avoiding scratching the tat at this point just to make absolutely sure that it is healed, I can not scratch around it w/o looking in the mirror to make sure I'm not going "over the line". GRRR! I am going to stop at Target enroute to class this morning to buy cortinsone cream to put on the itchy skin around the tat. I won't make it through spin if it starts to itch during class!

Cathy: Heavy leg work followed up by walking lunges!? OMG girl, you are a brave one!}( It breaks my heart to see Joey cry but I love the fact that he is that close to his grandparents, etc. He often cries when we have to leave my MIL's as well.

Well, it is certainly more pleasant around here this morning. I stuck my head out and there is a cool, DRY breeze out there. Aaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh! My DH was VERY happy when he went to his car this morning. :)

S&H Legs + the lunges done - whew!

Wendy :: sorry to hear about the skin reaction - hope you can clear that up quickly! I know a few couples who never wanted to leave the baby with anyone, and it wound up being that, once they were finally ready to go out for the night or overnight, it became impossible. So, I think it's healthy for all involved if the child can stay with grandparents (or other relatives/close friends) now & then. Enjoy GS & spin!

I'm off to get showered and head over to my last class. Enjoy your day, ladies!

Good morning Cheetahs! MIA Cheetah reporting in. Work has been super busy. I barely have time to check out the boards lately, let alone respond. I miss you all.

Anyway this week is a good one. On Monday I started back with zigzagging calories again. No excuses this time, my clothes are tight and I've slacked for way too long. My workouts are going well too. Sunday I ran 5 miles outside. I had to walk a couple times, but I feel really good about the run. I've almost talked myself into running another half marathon on October 21st. It is a quick, flat course that quite a few runners use to qualify for Boston. The best thing is that there are not many runners, maybe 500. I'm got to wait until August and see how my training goes up that point. Anyway the rest of the week has been good too. Monday I did UB weight work on my own. Tuesday was a short 3 mile run. Finally, yesterday was a P90X Mish Mosh of C&B, S&A, and ARX. For C&B and S&A I did one of each exercise. It was a good workout, which was about 6 exercises per muscle group. Today is a 3.5 mile run outside. I'm trying to up my running days to 4 per week and making 2 of those outside runs.

Cathy - Congrats on your Garmin 305. I have plans to buy one the end of August along with a new treadmill and my own personal laptop, if all goes as planned. I can't wait to finally keep up with you all better. Checking email and the forum from work sucks!

Wendy - Congrats on sending in your PT paperwork. I hope you don't have to wait 4-6 weeks to hear something.

Carole - Thanks for the tip on saving my iTreads through Media player and then burning to DVD so I can play them on my DVD player. I haven't done it yet because DH is giving me back my MP3 player sometime this millenium. LOL:) :)

Sunny - Is there nothing you can do? You amaze me. Great job on all of your new classes. I'm so proud of you.

Amy - Congrats on your new marriage. Have lots of fun on your honeymoon! ;)

Hi to Jess, Gayle, Judy, Christine, Shelly, & Jackie. Did I forget anyone? I probably did. Sorry!

Good morning Cheetahs!

This will be rather short because yes .... busy packing for my big trip!

I ran for one hour today at the local park. I wonder what mileage I did. I would say .... maybe 4 miles?? I need a Garmin I guess! :)

Cathy - One of my best friends is certified in group fitness, yoga, pilates, spinning, personal training......she has done it all. She is my fitness certification inspiration! Good luck with your classes!

Jackie - Congrats on the race. I could not open your link. :(

Jess - How was the library yesterday?

Gayle - Did you hear anything about the job (not sure if I missed your post)? Good luck!

Wendy - Can't wait to see that tat! Did the rash clear up? How do your legs feel today after those slow lunges? That is my plan tomorrow!

Shelly - I hope that I can figure out picturetrail.com. Like I said before, I am so computer illiterate. I would love to post some pictures!!!!
That will be my goal after I get back! :)

Ok ladies, enjoy your day! I am off to pack!

Take care!
Amy

Mornin' Cheetahs:

Cathy - I do have that special edition of Oxygen so thank you for saving me the money on the book. I do love that edition and have read it a few times to keep on track.

I'm not feeling too good this morning so no workout and hopefully I'll make it through the day. I have a Tastefully Simple party to do tonight, so I hope to recover from this QUICKLY. ;)

Have a great day everyone!
Marcia.

Thanks Kristi!

Marcia I hope you feel better! Tastefully Simple is fun! I went to a party once and bought that spinach dip mix. Yummy!

Take care!
Amy

Hi Amy -

Actually I am feeling better-thanks, I think it's all the veggies and fruit that I've been eating the last couple days. My start to eating clean may have to take some getting used to in my tummy ;-) (TMI: once I hit the bathroom this morning it's much better :D )

Yeah, TS is fun, I've been a consultant for a year now and really enjoy it. I usually spend my earnings on Cathe DVDs :7

Marcia.

Yes Marcia,

Fruits and veggies can do that to me too, but I could never give them up!

TS is fun. I love sampling everything, it is all so good!

I too would spend most of my earnings on Cathe DVD's too!

I just purchased the 4 day split DVD's! The preorder form and check went into the mail yesterday! I wonder when they are going to come? I guess we will all wait in suspense!

I have to go pack now!!! The forum is so addicting! I am going to miss it for 2 weeks! No computer and no cell phone (well the cell does work in Hawaii----but I want to turn it off!!!!!)

Good morning cheetahs

Cathy..so your next school year will be quite busy. I knew there were other sizes in the foam roller but I really like seeing the benefits coming out more lately. LOL about the oxygen mask quote! The elevation is a bit higher than where I live, but it never seems to affect my running. And I sure hope it will be a bit cooler. Enjoy S&H and then some walking lunges!...I have often wondered about a Caffeine IV myself...http://planetsmilies.net/16626.gif[/img]

Wendy...I plan on having a lot of fun this Sat...nice way to do GS legs and ARX. I think I usually drop my weight amount for the slow motion lunges..:)...sorry about the itchy skin around your tat...that would drive me bonkers!..I have always been the kind that scratches the mosquito bite til it bleeds kind of girl....

Kristi...thanks for checking in. Great job on the workouts and the zigzagging. Another half in Oct?...way to go!

Jackie...the link didn't work for me either. Said "Shared Pictures not available". Being 10th out of 38 in your age group is not bad at all!

Gayle...good workout yesterday. Good luck with the job, I hope that works out for you.

Marcia...58 degrees would be heavenly!! This trail run is quite a lot of fun, and the scenery is beautiful. Sorry you are a bit under the weather this morning. I bet you will feel better for the party...

Amy...my allergies are fine as long as I keep on the meds. Wow, just a few more days til Hawaii!! Good job on the hour run.

Shelly...I did think you were most likely busy at work. I didn't marry the rich guy either...:)...I have been using my foam roller regularly too. I do think you are right and it helps with the injuries. So Las Vegas in Dec!! Yes, this is the 50K I attempted last year. I have done the 15K 7 times at least and will be doing the 15K Sat. My sister and some other running friends will of course be there. In fact my will be going too (and Sadie)...so I will get some fun pics. Hope you had a nice dinner with your sister and her DH. How are they doing?

Today is a 3-4 mile run after Ripped Slim & Lean from Jari.

Have a great day...:)

Good morning Cheetahs!

Sorry for the pic confusion. I didn't realize it would time out. Let's try this link:

http://share.shutterfly.com/action/welcome?sid=8AaN2jVs5atmUN

Click view pictures and choose pic # 106. If it doesn't show me in black bottoms and a pink top, it's still not working.

Cathy - What size is the foam roller you bought at Target? Haven't seen them here yet. Or, did you get it on line? Yes, I'm burning fewer calories with my running on the TM. It takes more to get my HR up to and I normally keep my incline set at 2%.

Wendy - Hope the itch clears up. Don't want to mess up that beautiful tatoo. Hope you had a good class.

Amy - Good run! Yes, you need a Garmin. I know you are so excited about your trip.

Kristi - Good job with the workouts! Hope the zig zagging works for you. It should keep the body guessing. Good luck with your decision on the half.

Marcia - Feel better.

Carole - Are you taking a rest day tomorrow so you'll be rested for your race? Enjoy your run and Jari today.

I did CC #1, S&H Triceps & Abs and I used the foam roller for a little stretching.

Have a terrific Thursday!

Jackie

I know we've talked about these foam rollers before, but I can't remember if one of you had a website for it or not? I'd love to take a look at them - anyone have a site for me?

Thanks, Marcia.

G'morning Cheetahs! I slept in this morning til almost 8!! Ahhhh! I needed extra sleep, after I posted y'day I went back to bed for almost 2 hrs!! (and then my kiddos were just getting up!) I guess I really did need this recovery week! :p The girls have been tired from getting to bed late for VBS.

We enjoyed the library y'day. I started reading The Eat-Clean Diet by Tosca Reno & am finding out that's very similar to how I eat anyway! But it's a good read. I have my usual oatmeal every morning for b'fast & typically eat every 2-3 hrs w/ lean proteins & complex carbs. The girls each got their next prizes for the reading club. Hannah read almost 500 pages of books so she got 4 prizes!! She's into reading the 100 page or so books, especially the Magic Tree House series and Berenstein Bears. Kiersten's reading is coming along very well, she'll read to herself & come to ask when she's having trouble w/ a bigger word. Allison just *pretends* to read the pages, but she's also picking up words from all of us reading to her. :) I'm glad that my girls enjoy going to the library & reading. We don't have cable, but I know my kids would watch too much tv if we had it. (they love going to Grandma's to watch Nick Jr, Disney, etc) They get to watch PBS cartoons and we have lots of DVD's to choose from! I actually hate the Sat morning cartoons, it's full of commercials for total JUNK food and other stuff. At least they only get to see it once a week! (oops, didn't mean to go on about that!)

Core Syn is on tap for today, I think I'll wait til naptime this afternoon to do it. It looks like another beautiful day, I think we'll head outside to enjoy it.

Tomorrow marks my 90 days of P90X!!! I'm kinda nervous to take my *after* shots. I am looking forward to seeing the changes in pics! And I want to take the fit test again to see how much I've improved.

Have a great day, Cheetahs! :)

Thanks, Jess, for the website. You are going to be P90X Grad tomorrow - CONGRATS! I can't wait to see your pics. :)

Marcia.

You're welcome! I saved it in my favorites as so many people have asked about it! It really helped me get over my IT band injury. I really need to get back to regular use again though, that's one injury I NEVER want again!! And I'm nervous about taking my pics, but hope I see the results side by side!!

Good morning cheetahs! I had a nice GTG dinner last night with family. My sister and her DH were visiting from Peshawar, Pakistan where they both work for the state department. It was good seeing her again. I ended up doing AllBody Attack yesterday, love that one for a great endurance/toning cardio interval workout!!! I also did KickMax, havent done it for a while and had a great time.

Jackie- Got a good look at your race pic.... you look like you ran hard!!! But still looking fantastic and in great shape there! I try not to get too hung up about placement in the age groups. It really all depends on who shows up that day ;-) It is far better to judge your performance on your previous times.

Marcia- Sorry your not feeling well today! But it sounds like it was just a temporary gastric disturbance... a major change in diet can certainly do that. You can't go wrong with WW, I believe your going to see some significant weight loss with this and your HM training:)

Cathy- Last class today:7 :7 Sounds like an awesome leg workout you banged out! My sister is doing great but I sure do worry about her.
They hear gunfire every night when they sleep and are under constant maximum security precautions. Even so, I guess they love the challenge of the job and have signed up for another year!

Wendy- Poor itchy baby! If the hydrocortisone cream doesn't help you can also try some benedryl cream. How maddening for you, especially since it's in a difficult to reach spot!!! Hope you can get in your spin.

Amy- Have fun.... but I don't really need to tell you that! I think you'll be far too much distracted with other matters to miss these boards much IMO;-) Great job on your hour run. Unless you were taking ALOT of walking breaks you likely got in at least 5 miles.

Kristi- That HM course sounds like a good one! I'm surprised it has so few participants but that makes it all the better. I'm never very comfortable in the big races where I feel like a member of a herd. At the start of the race I feel like mooing! ;-) Keep up the good work on your runs, your doing great!

Carole- Wow, you'll have quite a supportive crowd at this race! And you've done it so often it'll be a fun, comfortable run for you.
Can't wait to see the pics from this one!!! Sadie will be there too?
How cute!!

Jess- An official p90x grad now!!! An addition to your impressive growing list of accomplishments. I have no idea why you'd be nervous about your post pics! You look fantastic!

Time to get moving. It'll be my old favorite speed ladder workout, probably will go for 7 miles. Then, it'll be PLB. Back to work for me tonight!

ShellyC

Good morning cheetahs!!
Oh it feels like forever since I have been here. I have not fallen off the face of the earth, I have just been extremely busy and just trying to cope with some of the things that have been going on.

As most of you know, I have been helping my friend who has stage 3 breast cancer. She is doing well, but it has definitley been a rough couple of months for her. The chemo is very hard on her and she has been sick almost everyday. I have been helping her with her son Evan and just there for anything she needs anytime. I am very inspired by her strength and her will to beat this. It is a life altering experience for me as for her.

I have also had this stinking knee injury. I actually had an MRI and nothing is torn or anything, but still have some pain on the outside of my knee. It is getting better though, I just have to watch it. BUT, I will still be there at the roadtrip with bells on. I may not being jumping around as much or may not do every class, but would not miss this trip for anything.

I have been reading the posts and it sounds like everyone is doing well. I MISS you guys and am sorry I have not been here lately. I am really just trying to focus on one thing at a time and just put all my energy into my friend and my family right now.

I have definitley been working out. I have been doing mostly elliptical and upper body, but have been really enjoying my workouts. I will probably not run for a bit, so I can get this knee healed. I got a lecture from my doctor who said that it is definitley time to stop all the high impact, but basically told her that I could never give up Cathe and her high intensity workouts. She would go nuts if she say some of the stuff from bootcamp or Imax 3(LOL)!!!

Well, I am off to take my kids to VBC(vacation bible camp). I will try to check-in more this week.

Take Care friends!

Susan

Susan! It's great to hear from you. I was wondering if you were still planning on going on the RT and am very happy to hear that it is still in your plans!! I think your friend has a tremendous advantage in having your support. That and attitude can definitely play a huge role in ultimate outcome.

I'm sorry your knee injury is still with you!! It seemed like you only recently recovered from your issues with sciatica alsox(
Just a thought for you regarding your doctor's advice. There are many schools of thought out there regarding the benefits/risks of high impact exercising. Before your write off high impact forever you may want to obtain a consult from a physician who specialized in sports medicine.

Anyway, you sound like you are doing well yourself in spite of the many obstacles which have been thrown in your path. I hope you continue to check in with us to share your experiences and get support.

We care!!

ShellyC

Shelly,
Thank you for that kind post. I actually have an appointment today to see a ortho who specializes in sports medicine. I am going to pick his brain. I was told recently that I have a leg length difference of a 1/2 inch and that that puts a lot of pressure on the short leg and the knee. I am going to get fitted for orthotics and I think that will help. Trust me I am not even close to getting rid of my high impact workouts, especially since my knee MRI came back pretty clean. I just have to fine tune some things.

When are you getting in on Thursday? I get to the airport at 6:00pm. I am so looking forward to rooming with you and Carole, even if I am a gimp(LOL)! You guys take it easy on me:)

Susan
