Morning, cheetahs
I’m kinda annoyed with myself – after dinner, I dozed off in front of the news and slept right through my workout. DOH!! Woke up at 1 am but did manage to get back to sleep without too much trouble. So, oh well. Two back-to-back rest days. Not the end of the world. But TODAY it’s GOTTA be Core Syn! *lol*
Marcia :: how was your circuit class? Re: the X, I say just stick with the classic rotation, sub your step/circuit for Kenpo and Plyo, and maybe fit in a run on one of the other days.
Judy :: same reaction here…we talked about it in my classes yesterday…one of my students has two older siblings attending school there. He said his sister would have been leaving class at the time of the shooting in Norris Hall, but she overslept that day and missed class. I like the plan to do endurance or circuits for a week before vaca, and then run while you are there. How are your legs responding to 3-4 workout per week? Before the X, I was doing legs 2x a week, and I was starting to see good things. I think after I finish this rotation, I'll go back to that, or try what you're doing.
Wendy :: I’m with you – that is the pattern of cowardice we keep seeing – WHY?…The other thing I wonder about it is why it is so damn easy to get a gun in this country yet you have to go through a much more rigorous process to be able to drive a car. Maybe only U.S. citizens should be able to get a gun. Maybe it shouldn’t be possible in some places to only have to wait a couple of days before you can legally own a gun. Maybe the parents who allow kids to access their guns and then use them to kill others should serve jail time for irresponsibility…OK, sorry - I'm done ranting!...You are definitely not imagining your results! After seeing your pics, I realized I forgot to take mine at the 30-day mark, so I can't forget at the end of this week.
Kristi :: What a relief to hear that Annemarie didn’t rupture her eardrum. Hope your 4-miler helped ease some of the stress you’ve been under.
Shelly :: we have worked on our security plans in the past couple of years…We now have all doors locked at all times, and staff members have special access cards to enter the building…We do have lockdown procedures, which we practice…tehre are video cameras in the hallways…and a police officer who services all the K-8 schools in our district. I think we are as safe as a school could possibly be. It seems, though, that someone truly determined to do something like this is hard to stop. We don’t have metal detectors, and I don’t think I’d want them – that would make schools too much like prisons, I think. Personally, I think we have a societal problem on our hands, and the security measures are good, but they don’t attack the root of the problem, which is what we need to do.
Christine :: happy b-day to DD18! Glad DD14 is enjoying her trip and Jimmy’s getting more comfortable being alone for a bit. No need for puppy-less posts! I like hearing about him.
Carole :: yeah, I know what you mean re: the game – there was a fierce intensity in the players to do their best and yet they weren’t out to cream each other – it was cool to watch, really.
Jackie :: *lol* Nah, to them, I’m old! … Generally, the students just don’t understand the tragedy, and they are freaked out that these things keep happening. I’ll never forget – I student taught sixth graders in the fall of 2001, and what an eye-opening lesson it was for me to see how carefully you have to handle a national crisis with young kids. It is difficult to do when you are scared and don’t have any solid answers, either…Sounds like a good run. I might have to check out one of those iPod workouts.
OK, gotta get moving. Have a great day, all! I'll try to stay awake for my w/out this time!
