Cathlete
Good morning, all~

Looks like I was the last one to post last night... light day for the cheetahs, eh?

Well, I'm planning on MM or ME after school today. Haven't done either one of those in a while.

Just for fun...what items do you cheetahs HAVE to have with you when you run? For me, it's my iPod, my Garmin, and my Mace.

Hope everyone has a great Thursday...I'll be back to check in later!

Cathy :)

Good morning friendly cheetahs,

cathy- i received your christmas card yesterday, thanks!! i know you asked about adult acne yesterday and i do suffer from that also. right now i am on ampicillin and it is working great! i've tried many different things and they work for awhile and then the acne finds it's way back:( . have you seen a dermatologist? when i run i have to have my ipod!

wendy- thanks for the info. as long as i know that it can work in my ipod i am ok. i will make dh figure it out for me, lol

laurie- i hope you dd feels better really soon.

susan- yes i am doing the dec. rotation, it was too good to pass up. my eating since monday has been alright. mon & wed i did great. tues. i slipped and had some doritos...(shrugs). hang in there, we can do this!

today's workout is GS c & t and a interval run. I am going to use CC #4.

have an awesome day ladies

:)

Good Morning Cheetahs.

Cathy: Well for my TM runs I have to have my IPOD, a towel to cover the screen and my water. :) For my outdoor runs, just my garmin. I bought mace quite a while ago but haven't even opened it. I am afraid of it! LOL Dork, right? :p I don't think what I have would be termed as ACNE per se, but I do have issues with break outs. I've used Proactive and it worked great. When we had Joey and I first stopped working $ was very tight so I stopped using it and tried to use real cheap store bought face cleanser. I noticed the difference IMMEDIATELY! Since the $ situation has gotten much better I have tried Mary Kay products-eh. Okay but not worth the bucks IMO so I tried one of the Proactive "imitations" that they sell in stores. It's like $20.00 for a 3 step system (I got it on sale for like $16.00 though!) and I am very pleased with it!It's less then half the cost of Proactive AND Mary Kay and works very well for me. :) Okay, novel complete!:p

Sunny: Yeah, the Itrains will certainly work with your IPOD. An IPOD is an MP3 player. IPOD is just part of the the brand name so anything you can download onto any other MP3 player should work on an IPOD. :) Ooooh, have fun with GSC&T! I did it the other day and y'day and still this morning my u/b is reeling in pain from it!}(

I have a run scheduled for today again but I still am feeling pretty oogey (nice word, right? :p)so I'm taking an early rest day this week. I will be going to my mom's to visit right after work instead b/c she has the afternoon off today. If I am up to it, we will do some Christmas shopping after Joey's nap. If not, then it'll just be an early visit. Actually...I may pack my running gear cause if I feel okay when I get there I could run in her neighborhood while Joey naps! I grew up in a much nicer area then I'm in now so I'd feel completely safe. :)

Okay, enough babbling now...Have a great day ladies!

hello to all,

I didnt get a chance to post again yesterday. I had two bootcamp class to teach yesterday and by the time I got home lastnight ,ate and took my bath I was tired. I am not too sore but am tired this morning,at least initially getting out of bed. One of the girls I work with took my class lastnight so I am curious to see how she feels today. the people in my class lastnight told me I am much harder than my brother. the one lady said when her husband saw I was teaching lastnight that he was ready to turn around and go home because I am hard. I joking said, well I will have to tell my brother that we will have to trade days more often and keep you guessing. she said we will be here regardless. they also told me, dont tell your brother. I said I wont, its good to have different instructors,to bring you a variety of teaching.

thanks for all your support regarding my younger brother. the girl was fired yesterday, which was good because I would have had to say something to her and I am normally a nice person but when it comes to my family, I can blow up easily. he seemed to be in better spirits yesterday. hope you all have a great day!!!

G'morning Cheetahs! Wow, I have some DOMS in my hamstrings & calves this morning!!! GS legs got 'em good! ;-) I'll do GS BSB later today.

I never had time to check back y'day! I went to the dentist & he agreed that my tooth was *not* acceptable. I'm so glad! So they did another impression & now I have to go to a lab where they will do the color matching & paint the tooth right there. Yeah! It will take a couple weeks again til it's ready for that though. Allison went w/ me & kept everyone entertained. Her favorite color right now is red & she even had her little red cowboy boots on. (she's obsessed w/ them right now!) They are sooooo cute. When I had the impressions in my mouth, she said, Mommy, show me your happy face!! LOL The hygenist was cracking up. Then she showed me her happy face, her mad face, grumpy face, etc.

Then Allison & I ran to Kroger for a few things & headed home. I got 4 loads of laundry folded & put away, I looove how quick my new W/D is!!

I have another PT appt this morning. I have really noticed a huge difference in my IT band this week. I'm taking it easy on the cardio & high impact (other than IMAX 2 on Monday!) and doing my foam roller/ stretching at least twice a day. Then I have to run a few errands AGAIN, I really want to get to the bottom of my Christmas shopping!!

Have a great day, Cheetahs!!

Cathy ~ I love MM!! That was my *first* Cathe workout!! (that & KickMax) It's a goodie! I don't have ME but it looks like a good one too! Have a good day!

As for running, just my Garmin & my dog! I don't have an iPod or listen to music. I just enjoy looking around & thinking while I run.

Oh, and I forgot to say for acne, I use some products from Melaleuca. They are made from Melaleuca (tea tree) oil & help clear up breakouts. It's called Zap it & has a wash, astringent, roll on stick, and cream. I used to take antibiotics in HS for my acne & used Retin-A & some other creams. It's gotten better & now I just get them on the sides of my chin & forehead. (especially while PMS'ing!)

SunnyD ~ Enjoy C & T, my fav workout!! Enjoy the DOMS tomorrow!! LOL

Wendy ~ Hope you start feeling better. Loooove Joey's picture, he's too cute! Have a nice visit w/ your Mom!

Laura ~ Sorry about your brother. That's just wrong. I'm glad that she was fired. Your brother sounds like a real sweetie.

Hi to all of my other Cheetah pals!!

Hey All!

Well, yesterday ended up being a rest day, so today it’s GS Back, C&W abs and a run. DD13’s Holiday concert was last night. That was nice. I had forgotten what a step up High School is when it comes to concerts. No more out-of-tune kids whispering to the audience. It’s both a sad day and a very happy one!! :+ The condo is a Westin Property. We own it, and can use it whenever we want, any time, but we get 29 days standard or there are additional fees. We get a percentage of the fees when they rent it out. And it’s such a prime location, I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s rented most of the time. So, we’re hoping to come close to breaking even. As so many people who own other Westin properties are buying into this, I can’t help but think it’s a good thing.

Cathy – When I run I carry a HRM and a bottle of water – unless it’s treadmill or a long run during the day, then I add my iPod. Enjoy your MM. Glad you were able to get in a run yesterday with your calf! Also, when my DD17 started in with acne meds, it did take a month to clear up, and it seemed to get worse before it got better.

Sunny – have fun with CC#4! Remember, some Doritos is not a disaster. We have to be able to live with the way we eat. A cheat occasionally keeps us from inhaling a bag or two. By the way – did you hear about the shipping container that washed ashore in Hatteras – it contained Doritos – I guess they were shrewn up and down the Hatteras beach – but many of the bags were whole and perfectly fine. Just what it is needed on a warm beach day – a bit of salt!! :p

Wendy – hope you’re feeling better soon! Have fun with your mom! Sounds like a great day.

Laura – Let us know what your coworker’s reaction is. I’d love to hear! Glad that girl was fired. There is absolutely excuse for that kind of behavior.

Jess – sounds like another full day! Allison sounds too cute. Love the red cowboy boots – I’m a big fan of red! Glad to hear your IT Band is getting better!

Well, I’d better be off to work out! Cannot miss today!

Hi Cheetahs :)

When I run outside I take an Ipod, my phone ( tucked in my ankle) and some tissues. Inside I cover the TM screen with a towel and forget the phone.

For facial care I am a Clinique user. It took some experimenting with in the line to fined best products for my skin, but I have stuck with them.

Today is a total body WO. Not sure which. There will be no impact today; I just did 4 straight days of high impact, and tomorrow will be a run again.

Hey Cheetahs! I didn't make check in y'day because it was a busy busy day! I did w/out tho. L&G and a run! I am not feeling the L&G this am like I thought I would. My hams are a bit sore but that is it. Maybe it'll be here tomorrow. Today I am doing BM2 upper and maybe a run, some kind of cardio I just haven't decided.

Cathy, Running outside, I always have my ipod and a watch and a house key tied to my shoe lace. On the TM(which I have been spending most of my time lately...oooh it's so cold out!) I have a towel, water bottle and ipod! Have a good day.

SunnyD, Enjoy the GS and your run. Have a great day!

Wendy enjoy your rest day if you take it. I said y'day I was only going to do weights and then I ended up running. I just felt like it that's all! So enjoy whatever you end up doing resting or running!

Laura, I bet you were tired , 2 classes! How many do you usually teach? Or is 2 the norm for you?

Jess, I am glad the PT is helping so much. 4 loads! My goodness. I try to never have to do that many at once because it overwhelms me. I try to get one done everyday. Of course sometimes I slack!! Glad you are enjoying the new w/d. I have to say I loved getting my new vaccum awhile back. It is so cool because it is a bagless one and I love to see it suck stuff up!!! Ok TMI, but I figured you could appreciate my excitement over that!:D

Christine, Glad the concert was good. I know what you mean about sad and glad. My DS, 6 just found out last night that he has his first loose tooth. I was thinking oooooh he is not my baby anymore. He's such a big guy. When I told him that, he said I'll always be your baby mom! It was so sweet!

Judy, I was wanting to ask you a question. When you first started back to normal running after PF, how many days did you run. I knwo we are all different but I am so scared of reinjury that I am worried that I am not running enough to get back to where I was. I don't mean mileage, I mean days per week. Yesterday, I ran 4. I have been running 3. I was thinking about adding a mile per week. Before I got hurt, I was up to 10 miles. Ok what was my question? I am rambleing. Anyway, I am just trying to get back to the mileage I was at an not get hurt again. So do you think 3 days a week would be enough as long as I am feeling ok? Anyone else can chime in. I was just asking Judy since I knew that she has had PF in the past.

Ok everyone have a fabulous day.

Good morning cheetahs

Thanks for all your good healing vibes for John. I have good thoughts about his rehab now and that he can put everything into it!

Cathy...glad your calf is feeling better! I also use the Retin-A Micro gel. It is tough as I get older to get this covered by my Health insurance company. I usually fight though...:)...For my runs it is my Garmin, pepper spray and a dog biscuit tucked into my glove (lots of dogs in the neighborhood). On long runs it is water or a sports drink and of course my Sharkies...:)

Shelly...I am sure LIC would kick my butt after a run!! Hope you had fun with your SB/SLP premix. I do agree being together this long there are times you function as one person. You do know so much about each other...

Susan..I get those out of the groove feelings too. I think it has alot to do with injuries and sometimes this time of the year can be rough. I am glad you are feeling better and I hope the PT visits for a month help your sciatic. Thanks...26 years does feel like a long time! We have been together for 28.

Sunny...sorry about ds#3 getting a cold. Don't feel bad, I run out of time every now and then for my workouts too. Have fun with the GS workout and CC.

Wendy...sounds like a good TM run yesterday. Sorry about the not so good feeling...Hope the DOMS in your upper body is better today. Have a nice visit with your Mom. A run in another neighborhood could be fun if you feel up to it...

Laurie...Circuits make me sweat buckets too. Tough with BM2 as I am usually drenched when the upper body exercise on the ball come up. Makes it interesting. Hope Faith feels better soon. I bet Elizabeth will like Sears compared to KFC! Although I feel everyone should work in fast food once in their lives!!

Christine...Love the Anniversary glasses!!! Sounds like the Condo isn't a bad investment. You have a good workout planned today.

Judy...enjoy your total body workout, with all the choices it can be tough to decide!

Jess....hope you get the crown taken care of. That can be a hassle.

Thank you for all of your Happy Anniversary wishes...:) My DH was so sweet and brought me 26 beautiful red roses yesterday at work...we had a very nice evening, the burrito was great! We are planning to check out a Thai restaurant this Sat night.

Today will be B&G standing, An Elliptical workout, PUB shoulders and some Yoga.

Have a great day...

Today

The condo sounds so great, Christine!!! I'm sure the holiday concert was great!! My 3yo has her Christmas program next week, I loooove the preschoolers!! Oh, you'd love Allison then. She's dressed in red from head to toe whenever possible!! ;-) I'll be doing GS back today also! (and shoulders & biceps!) I'm interested in your 5 day split though, looks like a good idea!!

Carole ~ Happy belated 26th anniversary!!! WOW, that's amazing. How sweet that her brought you 26 roses!! Great workouts as always, SuperCarole!

Hey LD! I try never to have that much laundry to do also, but didn't have a choice this time!! I try to do a load or so a day also, it's much easier to keep up w/ it that way! LOL that I would be excited over a new vacuum, but it's true!! Sick obsessive cleaner that I am. }( My Dad used to sell Electrolux sweepers when I was growing up, maybe that was the start of it??? :p

As for PF, I would say running 3-4 days a week & gradually adding up mileage is the smart way to do it. And try not to run on consecutive days. Are you wearing inserts??? Also, make sure to wear shoes at ALL times, my podiatrist told me NEVER to go barefoot. (of course, now that I'm over it, I'm always barefoot w/ slippers in the house!)

And your ds sounds so sweet. My 5yo told me that she'll always be my *middle* baby. ;-) She keeps wiggling all of her teeth but so far none are loose. She really wants to lose one though!!

"When you first started back to normal running after PF, how many days did you run."

I ran 2-3 non consecutive days at first, and I began walking on the TM at 3mp and increased my speed every minute by 0.2. I tried to go as long as I could and get to decent pace. ( I usually got up to 5 miles and went upt to about 7.5 pace.) After a month of that I just did a 5 minute warm up and jog or run (4-6 miles) 3-4 days per week.

"I was thinking about adding a mile per week."

Well, you can add 10% total distance per week safely according to what I have read. But it is mostly trial and error. I read in Runners World this month you can add 1 mile to each run per week, but it is recommended to stay at the new milage for 3 or more weeks before increasing again.

"So do you think 3 days a week would be enough as long as I am feeling ok?"

Yes, I think 3 non consecutive days are fine. See how your heel reacts to that and keep stretching. Most weeks I run 3 times and do 1 or 2 Cathe Cardio DVD's. But step can aggrevate it too....

Personally if I keep my total milage per run to 6.5 miles or less I can run a fourth day. I got into hip and PF trouble when I tried to run 4 times in a week with distances greater than 7 miles for all of them. I'm still learning about how to gage all this too.

Carole- Happy anniversary! 26 years :). DH and I celebrate 23 years of marrage on the 23rd of December. Yes, we got married the day before Christmas Eve!!! Our family were good sports since it wasn't an annual event.

OK, DM total body and B&G bonus abs are done.

Good morning cheetahs,

I am feeling a little better today. I just have a slight sore throat. I ended up doing 50 minutes on the elliptical yesterday and then LIC upper body only. Today I am doing all of Butts and Gutts with probably no weights due to trying to give my sciatica a break from anything that will put pressure on it. I am feeling very hopeful about it right now. I feel pretty good today and yesterday and I am going to continue with the no impact workouts.

I have to make more cookies today for friends and family. I also have to go to Kohls(oh darn!) (LOL)! I LOVE that store. Hopefully I can get out of there without spending too much money on myself(teehee).

I have to go start my day by dropping off kids at school, so I will be back later to see what cha all are doing.

Cheers!
Susan

Man, I'm feeling how Wendy must feel every day! I don't know what workout to do and it's sort of beginning to stress me out!:7 I have not done any sort of exercise since Sunday's marathon other than working my right elbow to get food up to my mouth. I'm feeling headachey and bloated from three days of eating crap so today is the day to get back on track. I'm thinking RTTC and elliptical.....

Cathy, When I run any distance I must have my Garmin, HRM and my pepper spray. When I run 12 miles or more add hydration to that. When I run longer than 12 add solid fuel (usually in the form of Clif Shot Blocks but will be changing to Sharkies cause I like them better). When I run 16 miles or more I must have my cell phone and a small towel to wipe the sweat out of my eyes. Until I typed this I didn't really realize how loaded down I get!:7

Sunny, You reminded me that I have a couple of cardio coaches that I have only used once. Hmmmmm, maybe I should use it today......

Wendy, I was watching House Hunters the other night and they had this sort of young couple with a little boy in New Jersey on. I don't know where they were moving from but they were looking for a house in Asbury Park. I kept thinking about you the whole time wondering if you had that cute Jersey accent they had.

Laura, Please don't tell me that the girl who did that despicable thing to your brother is 29 years old as well! I do hope she gets fired. It makes my blood boil when people pick on others like that and I would have the same desire to say something to that girl.

Jess, You are as busy as usual! I went to the dentist yesterday too but it was for my annual cleaning. All four of us went and only DS has to go back because he has a cavity:( It's his first (and hopefully) last one and he's a bit worried about getting it filled. I told the dentist to bypass the novacaine when DS gets it so that he has incentive to be meticulous when he brushes! I'm happy to hear your IT band keeps on getting better. My 5 year old DD desparately wants her teeth to get loose too! Such a cute age!:) :)

Christine, Can't wait for your Napa condo to be ready for our GTG!!! LOL! So do you have to designate your 29 days at the beginning of the year or what?

Judy, OK. You and Wendy need to fill me in.....why do you cover the screen or your TM???? I honestly cannot think of a reason why you would do that. I have never used a TM before but I have an elliptical I use all the time but I never cover the screen. I am perplexed.

Carole, Congrats on 26 years! I think I'm going to use Sharkies instead of Clif Shot Blocks. I didn't use them during CIM but I did try them the other day and I like the tase better than the blocks. Thanks for the tip! Glad to hear good new about John.

Runnergirl, Legs and Glutes is a workout that I have not done that many times. Not that I don't like it but I guess I like others a little bit more. I hope your PF continues to feel better. My DH struggles with it off and on but he's hardheaded and never quits running when it flares up. He just uses his night splint and makes sure he wears his orthotics.

Susan, I decided that I'm not going to make Christmas cookies this year. I've been struggling with bad eating since Thanksgiving so don't want the temptation around. I'm happy to hear that you are feeling better today.

Talk to you all later!

Elaine, I don't know why the others cover up their TM's sometimes but I do it sometimes so I am not constantly looking at the clock or mileage.

Judy and Jess, Thanks for the tips. I think I am only go to do UB today since I ran yesterday. Well, I might do maybe LIC, cardio only anyway I won't run since I did y'day.
LD

Well, darn! No wonder I was so bloody cold when I ran, even in a microfiber turtle neck and a lightweight running jacket. I just heard it was 38 degrees! I thought it was in the 50’s. Guess I should pay attention to the weather forecast before I run! My body was fine, but my hands were frozen! But, over all, it was a nice run. I do enjoy the early mornings. Only one annoying thing – I had that song, Mele Kalikimaka (the Hawaiian Christmas Song) stuck in my head the entire run. I’d try to think of something else, get caught up in the rhythm of the run and find that it had snuck back into my thoughts. Oh well, at least it’s cheerful and has a good beat!

Jess – oh, your 3yo’s concert sounds fun! I do love the little ones! When DD17 took dance lessons, I always enjoyed the concerts where the little ones danced. They’re adorable. And Allison is my kind of gal! On the five day split – I know people are worried about getting enough, but worry more about my legs. I don’t need to be ultra cut – so as long as I work my upper body muscles thoroughly once a week, I’m happy. It seems to be working well for me, too.

Judy – sounds like a good idea not to go impact.

Carole – I’m so glad you had a wonderful Anniversary! How sweet of DH to bring 26 red roses – think he can give my DH some tips? :+ And you’re going to my new favorite – Thai! I love Thai food! Enjoy!

LD – it’s hard, isn’t it? I love the little ones, but, as a musician myself, I really appreciate the entire choir being in tune and sounding lovely. You may not be feeling L&G as much because of B&G!

Jess – I have to do a load of laundry a day as well. DH and I both work out most mornings, DD17 has cheer and I swear wear 5 outfits a day, every day. And with the double/triple layered look and all that – it adds up! Funny – we bought an Electrolux from a door-to-door salesman (back when you could trust them!).

Susan – B&G with no weights will still be a killer!! Ouch! I’m STILL feeling it from Tuesday.

Elaine - hey there! Come on girl, you just ran a marathon - are you going to rest on your laurels or get ready for the next feat of superhuman strength and endurance? :+ Oh, I can't wait for the Napa GTG. AND just think - there will be a sofa bed and floor space for anyone who wants to do the Sonoma Half - although I'm really debating that one - it was too bloody hot!

Well, I'm going to take my sore butt and get back to work. Hope y'all have a fabulous day and stay warm!

Judy, I have done the Cathe DVD thing before while on my elliptical. I put in IMAX2 and did blasts when she did. It was a nice way to do an interval workout without having to think about it much. Usually I watch a television program or DVD.

Christine, Actually, I am getting my mind settled on a really small 1/2 that I have run for the past couple of years. It's a tough one so offers a challenge. The first year I did it, it spanked me good!! The next year I manged to knock 5 minutes off my previous time but still finished in over 2 hours. If we happen to have our Napa GTG during the Sonoma 1/2 I think I'll opt for the 10K! LOL!
