Cathlete
Good morning, cheetahs! :)

Posh—coming back to work after time off is always a bit daunting. So sorry Smokey is ill. Prayers? You got ‘em. Hope you have a good time at the wedding and can take your mind off your worries for a bit.

Wendy—Going with your tried & true shoe seems like a good bet. …this is my 8th BTSN, and it’s never NOT made me nervous. Some of my colleagues who have been doing this way longer say the same is true for them. Just want to make a good impression…We were up in Stanhope, so I don’t think we ever *quite* made it out your way.

Wendi—WOO-HOO on getting a break from riding!...And congrats on DSO moving in! Didn’t know that was happening…*lol* I had a colleague who used to joke with parents, “Don’t believe everything your child says happens at school, and I won’t believe everything he says happens at home.” J Random question, but have you ever considered/been interested in veterinary school?

Carole—Hmmm, OK, I’ll have to do some thinkin’ post-Chicago. I had been *very tentatively* looking at a ski trip for that weekend, but my powder crew looks like it might be outta commish this season with some caring for new babies and others trying for one. Will see. On BTS Night, I met the dad who gave me the hotel/restaurant advice, and we had a great conversation about running and marathons. Wonderful family! He was saying he would alter his diet the week of the marathon by going low-carb, high-protein Monday – Wednesday, and then real high carb Thursday – Saturday. What do you normally do? (Any cheetah input welcome, of course!)

Christine—Impressive that some bike 30 miles (!) to work every day. I could never do it. Besides the fact that I'd look like one hot mess, I’m always schlepping 18 different bags into school. *lol* I'd need a trailer…Initially, my first thought was to try to come out to Napa and cheer on Carole…But as the days inch closer to the marathon, I’m thinking more and more that it’s likely I will do this again. Whether it happens as early as Napa, I don’t know. I'm sure it be a blast out there, whether as a runner or supporter. I do like the idea of traveling to different marathons. J How are the legs today?

Jackie—I’m not a spotlight person at all. This is why I’ve never envisioned myself doing the traditional “dream wedding” thing. I would not like the attention. Or the formality. Always thought I would elope and do something fun. Now it’s just a matter of finding a man. *lol* That does look like a good little combo.

Linda—Congrats that it’ll be a grandson! I was wondering the same as Dallas—is he the first he? The Halo test, according to my doc, is the equivalent of a Pap for boobs and can detect the likelihood of your developing breast cancer…Napa is 3.1.09…Glad Patty is feeling better.

Dallas—Napa is a maybe for me. Initially thought I might go out to cheer on Carole, but in the past number of days, I’ve conceded that I probably will run another mary eventually. Will see if I still feel the same after Chicago! J …I carry pepper spray for protection. You could also get a whistle or alarm and run with your cell phone for added peace of mind.

The Dodge Poetry Festival yesterday was an absolutely perfect day. It's an outdoor (tented) four-day event held at a 19th century historic village. Very scenic and woodsy. And it was just the sort of rainy, damp fall day—the air filled with chimney smoke—that I find especially charming. We listened to readings by Billy Collins, Lucille Clifton, Sharon Olds, Linda Pastan, Naomi Shihab Nye, Joy Harjo, Ted Kooser, Maxine Kumin, and others. We were in our glory. My colleague/friend and I had our picture taken with Billy (!) when he autographed our copies of his most recent collection of poetry. *sigh* He’s just brilliant. HAVE to do this again next year.

In terms of today, I didn’t get home til 10:30 last night and woke up a bit earlier than I would have liked. So on the heels of a very busy week, I foresee a midday nap and then probably an afternoon run. Stomach's a little cranky this morn. Probably the not-so-clean eats I indulged in. Better check the weather.

Enjoy your Saturday!

Good Morning.

So I started my friday evening planning an exciting bath for DS before bed (LOL) and ended up driving him up to my MIL's to spend the weekend!? My SIL is a nut...in a GOOD way! :D

So after I dropped off DS I headed to the bowling alley where DH was subbing to have a few beers. We went out to eat afterwards cause DH was hungry. My food was good but I ate too much. UGH.

So now we have a free weekend again....What to do? LOL I'm still planning on a long run either later today if it doesn't start pouring rain or tmrw. I probably won't be lucky enough to find my old shoes online so that will end with a ride to the store for new ones and we may take a ride to the store to investigate new carpet for the room I work out in and the living room. It's totally shot. If I can get my run in today then we are thinking of (if I can walk!LOL) going country dancing tonight. :D

Cathy: I think the fact that you still get nervous over BTNS after several years shows just how much you care. It's more then just a job to you. I learned that long ago about you and this is just one more indicator of that fact. I'm sure you always make a great impression. :) So I see you are actually considering running another full mary after Chicago? How about running 2 in the same month? You can go out to Cali and run Carole's with her and then come back here and run mine with me and maybe Shelly if she's up for it! ;) I'm kidding ofcourse. LOL So I see you are starting to think about skiing again...I still would like to go back. Still want to try and get a trip together?

Okay, let me get this posted and then I'll go catch up on yesterday's posts!:)

Cheetahrific Saturday!

Good morning all! Is everyone sleeping in today?? I had a long 12 hour day at work but it went well and everyone there is quite friendly:) I'll be glad to start working nights again tho. I'm actually able to get more things done and especially, I'm able to get in my runs/workouts better.
It's raining outside, like most of the Eastern part of the country so I'll be a pansy cheetah and hop on the TM in a bit. I'll pick out a good tough iTread and go for 5-6 miles. Later today I'll go for a good lower body workout I think. Will be heading down to Hagerstown, MD (only 1/2 hr away) for some shopping with DH also.

Kristi- I was so pleased to see a post from you the other day!! Thanks so much for the update... I have thought of you and was wondering if you had recovered from that terrible knee injury. Glad to hear you are running again and are being cautious about it. Congrats on that job promotion!!!
You work hard and without a doubt deserved it!

Wendy- You do sound ready for LBI!!! Any luck finding the running shoes? I think you'd be a natural at Salsa dancing... does your DH like to dance at all or is it like torture for him? Anway, it does sound like fun!
I thought for a while that I'd be travelling alone to NJ for the race but DH has changed his plans and will be coming with me. Now I have to see if I can drag him out of bed on the morning of the race.... that's another issue!!! I'll try anyway.

Linda- LOL about White Coat syndrome. Kudos to you for getting all those uncomfortable exams done anyway! Glad to hear that your friends back injury doesn't sound to serious. CONGRATS on your soon to be new grandson:D:D:D:D Have a name pickout out yet?

Judy- Enjoying the rain also in your corner of the country I assume? Have you had to quit yet on the golfing for the year? I'm painint the kitchen a brighter color and hope to have it done this weekend. It will be an off white shade... linen white.

Jackie- The St Jude race looks fun... I peaked at the web site. Never really visited Memphis... just drove thru it but it sounds so nice!! Got anyone to run it with you? I didn't use a tinted paint for the first coat, just a good primer which is what is traditionally recommended for covering up bright intense colors. It looks like it's done a good job... I hope! I'll see if I can get away with just one other coat. I'll have to keep that tip in mind tho.

Cathy- Are you in the taper mode yet???LOL about my "Mcdonalds" kitchen.... I KNEW that color combo was somehow familiar!! We have a large pantry with double doors that were painted in THREE different shades of yellow/brown/red:eek: I was particularly happy to cover that up!
So you may be journeying to Napa? Awesome! I told Carole I would likely join her if I can get this &^%$%##$% house in Az sold! Unfortunately in today's economy that's a huge IF. I have to admit, all the advice about nutrition leading up to a marathon really confuses me:eek:
All I know is that our guts don't like alot of change suddenly so my best advice, for whatever that is worth is to not do anything too different.

Posh- Nice to hear from you! I have a prayer going out for your Smokey horse!!

Wendi- I bet Posh appreciates whatever sage horse advice you can throw her way. I like that nickname for your show horse! Sorry the rain is hampering the last minute prep for him but I'm sure you'll be fantastic anyway!

Carole- My R knee took the brunt of that fall and I do feel a twinge when I land on that side but it never progresses beyond that so it's definitely just soft tissue that's involved. I do make a point of rolling when I fall (like the sky jumpers) so it definitely lessens the impact. Of course I also have a nice hip abrasion , but that's okay! ;) Keep the house selling vibes coming my way!!!! I need every one I can get! I'd love to come to Ca for a race:D

Christine- Hope you got in a nice rest yesterday. I am in awe of your description of some of these bike races. I must admit. I find biking up a hill alot harder then running!!! What's your opinion?

Karen- Nice job on getting in that early am 11 mile TM run!!!!! I had to chuckle over your description of your perceived problem tush tho:rolleyes:

Dallas- Glad to hear all is well with you and you sound busy as ever, being everything to everyone! Do you ever just take a "me" day? I used to regularly carry pepper spray, like Cathy but I got out of the habit. It does work pretty well with dogs and most humans and I definitely would recommend it. With all the dogs around here I need to start carrying it again.

Whew! I think that pretty much catches me up with the fabulous cheetahs!! Time to get the but in gear now!

tata

Good morning cheetahs

Cathy...I do hope you can come out to Napa...:D..Isn't it fun talking marathons with runners! I don't really alter my eating much. I do go a bit higher carb the night before. One thing I do is make sure to get in a good amount of water the 24 hours before the marathon. See, we all have our tricks...:)..Sounds like you had a perfect day at the Poetry festival. Hope your stomach gets better as the day goes on. Enjoy your afternoon run.

Christine...it is nice to see Mom moving around a bit more. LOL about the girls weekend in Napa except for Mike the bike!! Loved the Gymboss. Funny about your DH's friend knowing more about the cable than the company...:)..Hope they get it fixed for you. How are the legs today?

Karen..I about spewed my coffee reading about you cupping your tush while running!! I am sure your butt is not nearly the size you think!! Besides, shadows are always bigger...:)

Jackie...STS will be a nice present for X-Mas. The Gymboss is great and perfect for my interval runs. Good job with the run and LIC upper and abs.

Linda..I do hope Patty can get to a Chiro with her back. Is she still running? I ended up only going 4 miles yesterday due to time, but had a nice fast run! The Gymboss is awesome. CONGRATS on the BOY!!!

Dallas...the Gymboss is nothing like a Garmin. It is basically a timer. When I do intervals I run hard for 1 min and then recover for 3 mins and the repeat. I can set the Gymboss for 2 times (1 and 3 mins) it has an alarm that sounds when you get done with the 1 min and then the 3 mins, then it repeats til you are done. It worked great. I think Napa is a great 1st marathon!! It was my 1st and not real close to home. After the long drive home it was a bit tough getting out of the car!!...:). I think that would be awesome if you could come out and do it!!!!

Today I am thinking about an Amy KBX premix and some abs.

Have a great day...:)

Shelly....we were posting at the same time!! Glad you have trained yourself to fall easier. I am a fan of belly flops on the dirt!! I do hope your house sells so you can join us in Napa!! I will keep the vibes coming. Enjoy shopping with DH.

Dallas...I forgot, I also run with pepper spray where ever I run.

Wendi: Glad you didn't have to ride yesterday due to the rain. Are you hoping it pours again today? ;)

Carole: So what training program are you following for your mary? I was going to follow one of Hal Higdon's novice programs. I have a question for you though if you don't mind. I will have to start training for the mary pretty quickly after my 18 mile race if I want to get every week of it in. Do you feel it's neccessary? Would I be doing myself a diservice by cutting of few of the earlier weeks out? I only ask because I will have just trained for and run 18.

Christine: My last long run is this weekend. I will probably do a 10 miler before the race but that's the farthest I'll go until "the big day". :) We had Joey in pull ups and he was waking up dry often which is what prompted me to switch over to regular underwear at night. He has accidents but I think alot of it has to do with how much he had to drink before bed. I'm trying to cut back on the after dinner liquids but sometimes it just doesn't work out. Oh well. He'll get it. :)

Jackie: I still have a few weeks before the race so I am hoping that if I buy new shoes NOW, I'll be okay by the time the race comes along. It's a catch 22 really as I don't want to regret running in my current shoes either. So how do you like CC 2? I don't have 1 or 2. They are the only ones I don't have. Should I get them? :)

Linda: Congrats on the boy! Now you can go SHOPPING!!!!!:D:D:D Getting your BP taken freaks you out? It IS uncomfortable. I am bad with bloodwork myself.

Dallas: Wow you've been busy. That was so nice to bring your MIL soup and visit with her for a while. Great way to help keep her going. Yeah there sure will be lots of laughs at the salsa classes...everyone laughing at ME! LOL

Karen: Great run y'day!

Ok, looks like that catches me up! I hope I didn't miss anyone!

BBS!

Wendy...I never mind questions...:)...I am loosely following an old Runners World marathon program. It will be a bit confusing to you, but it will be a 12 week program and I will run 3 weeks of 36 miles, 40 miles and 44 miles (for a total of 9 weeks) alternating the weekly mileages depending on what my long runs will be. Some weeks I will be running 6 days and some 5 days. The last 3 weeks will be the taper. How long is the Higdon program you are looking at for your marathon? 18 miles is actually a great training run for a marathon. You could take a few easy weeks before you start the marathon training after your 18 miler.

Wow...I just learned it looks like I am going to be participating as a chaperone for a student travel program next summer...19 days in England, Wales, Scotland, and Ireland!! Woo-hoo!!

Wendy :: good luck on the shoe hunt, and enjoy the break from mommy-dom tonight. Thanks...As mentioned, it really is pretty common among my teacher friends to get nervous. It just happens. :) We all want to get off on the right note and assure parents that we are on the same team...Yes! Always thinking about skiing. :) :) :) (At my school, most of us "name" our classes, and mine are all named after ski resorts, ha!) Yes, definitely on a ski trip! Any interest in Utah? *lol* Re: any future marathons, who knows?

Shelly :: yeah, we are due for continued wet weather east of you, too. I'm still hoping to get outside later, if possible. Thanks for the nutrition feedback. Makes sense to me. Yes, I am in taper mode! :) It feels a little weird.

Carole :: Definitely not a big deal going on with the stomach, fortunately. Just a little fussy. :) Thanks for the tip re: pre-marathon nutrition. I did have a good time--wish I were still there! Enjoy KB and abs.

Carole: I just counted and I have 24 weeks between my 18 miler and the full mary I want to do. The training program is 18 weeks long so I can take 6 weeks "off" before I have to start training and STILL do the full program. I think that will be good for me. I don't know if I'd make it another 24 weeks straight running 4x per week.
Sounds like an intense training program you are following. I am sure you will do wonderfully with it. I am polish and was born a blonde so it's not hard to confuse me! LOL Part of the reason I chose Higdon's training program is because it's very straight forward and easy to understand. Some out there might as well be written in hyroglyphics they confuse me so much. I don't need anything fancy as I just want to finish. :) Do you have a time goal for your mararthon?

Cathy: Utah?? OMG, LOL. Okay let's begin at the beginning here, girl. How about a couple of trips that are a wee bit closer to home first. ;) If you are planning Utah once I've had a chance to get my feet wet then I'd definately consider it. :) It's funny how just a couple of weeks ago you doubted you'd ever run another full marathon and here you are already considering a 2nd. Good for you. That's awesome. I had my doubts about a full after my first half. Funny how a little experience can give you a whole new outlook and alot more confidence in what you are capable of doing. :)

Shelly: The race does not start until 10:30. Your DH should be able to handle that, no? LOL

Morning Girls!

I've been up, but haven't actually done anything yet.

Cathy ~ That is exciting news!!!! That would be a blast! What grade will you be chaperoning? I'm so glad you decided to run another marathon and even before you completed your 1st!!!! I'm getting so excited for you and a wee bit bummed that my home life was too crazy to continue to train. However, there will be other opportunities. I'm really going to talk to dh about Napa! Hopefully, the weather we've been having will continue thru Oct.12. It's been gorgeous here! :) Now what is BTSN? Oh, you're such a romantic re: the poetry event. :)

Carole ~ Is that the running program (posted to Wendy) you have followed in the past? Thanks for explaining the Gymboss. I'll have to see how Cathy fairs on her post mary travels. ;) Of course, her flight would be shorter than mine, I'm guessing. :p I'm also praying that my mil will be done with everything come December. The party last night was just not the same w/o her. :(

Wendy ~ I've always wanted to take lessons myself. I have two left feet. You have a fun-filled, free day planned. Oh that would be so nice. Enjoy!!! :)

Shelly ~ You are super busy too!!! Well, I count my workouts as "me" time. I went to the chiro the other day...does that count. LOL My back feels much better. That's just what I needed. :) lol'd about your comment about "it works on most humans too" ha ha I know that I need to get something now that I'm not running w/TNT. I felt safe with them. I miss then actually. I'll have to see what races they've started training for now that Chgo and Nike is almost here. I know one is Arizona! ;) That's a huge fund raiser though.

Thanks Cheetahs re: pepper spray. Now the next question is where do I get it? Not one person at the party knew. I do carry my cell phone, but I keep it in the hydration belt.

Well, I think I'm caught up. You gals get here early...it's hard to keep up! lol Not sure what I'll do workout wise, but I'll come up with something good. :)

"I had my doubts about a full after my first half. Funny how a little experience can give you a whole new outlook and alot more confidence in what you are capable of doing. :)"

Wendy ~ That's how I felt after running the half. I thought how in the world would I have done another 13.1!?!?! I swear that mental thing is key. It seems my longer runs are not a problem, but when I'm running 3 it feels so much harder. Weird, huh!?! It has to be mindset.

Dallas :: I have gotten pepper spray at Sports Authority. I believe REI carries it, too. And I've also ordered it online...BTSN is back to school night...Napa would be awesome! Don't know for sure that I will do another, but in these last few weeks of training, the thoughts have been bouncin' around upstairs...I asked for HS, but it looks like I'm assigned to junior high. Which makes sense since that's what I teach. One of the activities will be rappelling down a castle wall in Wales!...Ha ha, yeah, I do enjoy poetry. As Collins was reading, I was thinking he would be my dream man. Cerebral, funny, and gifted with words. *sigh* :) Enjoy your workout today, whatever you decide. How is MIL doing, spirits-wise?

Wendy :: I was teasing about Utah, although I very much want to take another trip out West. I know you want to stay local ;)...From day one, I have said I'll do one and that's it. Check it off my list of things I want to do and see in my life. Didn't have doubts at the onset that I would pull it off. I'm very stubborn that way when I set my mind on something. The doubts crept in later during training. *lol* That's when reality hit! :) But I try to flush out that kind of thinking right away. Overall, marathon training has definitely given me a boost in confidence, but my thinking of possible future marathons has more to do, I think, with actually enjoying some aspect of this kind of training AND a desire to run more and run better.

Good Morning Cheetahs!

Karen – Wow! 11 miles on a treadmill. I don’t know how you do it! I did chuckle at your bouncy butt. I have to admit that I’m a little jealous as I don’t have enough of a butt to bounce! This baby has NO back.

Jackie – Thanks for the hopes for a relaxing weekend. It’ll probably be a bit of relaxing and running around. Hope you enjoy yours!

Linda – WOW! That’s quite the difference in blood pressure. You must really not like the OBGYN! :p (Not that I blame ya!) Yeah, 30 miles one way – could you imagine? Wow! I’d be spending 3 hours a day on the bike. I like my bike, but not that much! Congrats on your GRANDSON! How fun! I’ll bet you enjoyed that appointment!

Dallas – Yes, spending time with family is more important than working out. Too funny about the 10yo b-day party! Yeah, the Sox always do that, but they came back.

Cathy – I’m excited that you’ll probably be out for the Napa Marathon! You’ll love Napa. Legs are fine today. Ready for a hike. :p Tomorrow’s long ride might be tough, but it’s different muscles and I’m only doing rolling hills – no huge climbs, so that’s nice. Oh, sounds like a great time at the Dodge Poetry Festival. Yeah, my stomach is cranky, but I knew it would be after what I ate yesterday. How exciting that you’ll be a chaperone on that trip! Sounds incredible! And you’ll learn so much! Those trips are great.

Wendy – enjoy your free weekend!! It’s so easy to eat to much when the food is good – I did the same thing at the Indian restaurant. YUM! Have fun with your run and your line dancing tonight! Yeah, accidents happen. He will get it. He’s doing really well, actually. Boys are harder to train than girls.

Shelly – I can see that working nights would be more conducive to exercise. Enjoy your “pansy” TM run. I heard it’s pretty nasty out there. To me, cycling is so much easier than running – even uphill. I avoid hills like the plague when I run, but I do like them when I ride (most especially the down hill – that’s so much easier on a bike - :p). Enjoy your day Ms. Crazy Cheetah!

Carole – TV is fixed!!! I’m actually looking at tickets for next week’s SF/Pats game. I’d like to surprise DH and take him to the game. His birthday is in October, so it can be a birthday present. Tickets to football games are PRICEY though. Ouch! Enjoy your workout – it sounds fun!

Sad news about Paul Newman today. I admired him in a lot of ways. :( Today is a hike with DH and Jimmy. Obviously we did not make it to Napa. *Shrugs* Both DH and I are a bit relieved as a weekend away makes it tough to get caught up again. We did end up going to a wine tasting at Bert George – the ritzy wine shop. That was fun. Then we went to dinner at Amber for Indian food. We did not get that much, but man we were full! Very good stuff! Have a good day all!

Hello Cheetahs!

Life and getting rid of my cold have kept me from checking in. I feel like myself again. FINALLY! Sounds like everyone is doing super workouts! :)

Cathy: That poetry festival sounds like a blast! That is GREAT you will be going on the trip with the students! It will be something special to remember for both you and the kids. I bet you are happy to be in taper mode. :) Enjoy your run today.

Wendy: Sounds like a fun night you have planned! Salsa dancing? I would consider that a good workout! Enjoy your free weekend!

Shelly: Sending house selling vibes to you. It is great to hear you are liking your new work environment. Sounds like you are getting a lot done with the new home. Enjoy your run and weights today!

Carole: I just wanted to pass along that my DH said your soup recipe is the best soup I have ever made. :) I did put some in the freezer for a quick dinner during the week. Good to hear that you are running strong.

Dallas: I bought my pepper spray from a sporting goods store. Can't remember the name though. I bought it out in MT. So you might be running Napa? You girls will have a great time. :)

Christine: I was sad about Paul Newman too. You are always doing fun things over the weekend. I would love to go to an Indian restaurant. Someday. Have a great hike!

Posh: I hope your horse is ok. (((HUGS))).

Linda: Congratulations on the grandson!

I JUST ate breakfast so I will run later this afternoon. Might try and tackle some school work, but I am having a strong feeling that it will wait until tomorrow. You have to have one day off...right? :)

Take care Cheetahs!

Hi Again!

Wow, this may be a record for me! 3 posts in one day. LOL I ended up doing LIC, but using the treadmill for the cardio portions, however before the ab segment I had to finish out the 4th mile, then I did the abs and stretch. Whew, someone (was that you, Christine?) had said that the biceps were a burner in that one...that wasn't a lie! Ouch!:D

Gloria ~ Glad you're feeling better. Well, I'd **like** to go to Napa. I haven't talked to dh about it yet. I **think** soccer is done by then. I'm sure it's Spring training for softball/baseball, but that's not a big deal. Also, have to make sure my mil is on the road to recovery by then. Enjoy your run and the day off from school work!

Christine ~ I haven't watched anything but sports, well, a little of the debates. I'm over this election. :( 34 more days and counting. anyway, what happened to Paul Newman? :( I hear you on catching up when your gone. We're primarily away all day on both Sat/Sun, so Monday's are always fun for me....NOT!

Cathy ~ My mil sounded down on the phone today. We have a lot of b-days coming up, the holidays, etc. She's always the first one there. She misses seeing her grandkids and being able to come to the soccer games. :( She's nervous about the kids because her white blood cells do drop after the chemo. The kids have been sneezing, coughing, etc. I do think it's allergies, but if it's not, it could be really bad for her. :( We've agreed to let the kids call as much as they want. It's not the same though. If she called me to bring them over, I would do so w/o hesitation. Rappelling the castle wall should be fun!! :) Good luck finding a guy who meets those criteria! he's got to be out there, right?!?! Thanks about the pepper spray.

I've got to get the cooler ready for the game. Dh says it's not far, but it sure sounds far. Some of our up and coming games I've never heard of the towns. This is truly a travel team, unlike last year. We're so much happier w/this organization though. :)

Have a great day!

ETA: Anyone try recipes out of the Clean Eating magazine? They're really not hard and quite tasty!! :) I like the magazine recipes much better than the book. I just had the Dilled Salmon roll ups minus the roll up.;) I just sliced a tomato and put the salmon mixture on top. Yum yum! Anyway, thought I'd share. I have some other favorites I make frequently.

Hi Cheetahs!

Linda - Great news on the ultrasound! Congratulations on that new grandson! DD can start picking out names now.

Dallas - Nice of you to spend some extra time with MIL. I haven't started using any of the 1 rep max yet because I'm not getting STS - at least, not right now. BIL is a Cubs fan but he'll root for anything Chicago. Hope you knew the extra kid. :D I ordered my pepper spray on line that I carry with me. Some I keep at home I got from a police chief.

Cathy - Laughing at you finding the right man so you can elope. :D He's out there. He just doesn't know it yet. Glad you had a good day at the Poetry Festival. Did tummy get better? That's a great assignment for the summer! You will have so much fun! Congratulations! Doing a happy dance for you!

Wendy - Don't you just love those free weekends. As much as I like seeing DBF, I still like to have a weekend all to myself sometimes. Hope you find some fun things to do. Good luck finding carpet. I use CC #1 & 2 when I want easier runs. They're only about 30 minutes. #1 has sprints and #2 has hills. Of course, you can make them as hard or as easy as you want. He just doesn't push me like Grace though.

Shelly - When will you start working nights? I know you feel all out of your routine. Did you have a good dreadmill run? No one is running the St. Jude with me but my boss is doing the full marathon. I meant putting the tint in the primer. Sorry, I wasn't clear. Paint store recommended doing that. Glad you're finished already though.

Carole - Glad you like that Gymboss. Sounds like the perfect things for intervals. I remember how hard it is to get out of the car after a long run. I went to Wal-Mart and had a lady ask me why I was walking the way I was. Told her I was glad I could walk. Hope you enjoyed KBX premix and abs.

Christine - What happened with Paul Newman? Haven't heard. Sorry about the trip to Napa. Wine tasting and Indian food sounds like a fun night.

Gloria - Glad you're feeling better. Have a good run.

I ran 7.5 miles this morning. It was a good run. I ate a little something before I left and carried some Clif Bloks with me. Really helped a lot. Wanted it to be an easy and relaxing run. Never looked at my Garmin to see what my pace was. Still ended up doing right at a 10:30 mile. Then, I worked in my flowerbed and washed my car. Trying to finish up laundry before DBF gets here. He wants to see a movie.

Gotta get moving. Enjoy your Saturday!

Christine :: That would be an awesome b'day gift for DH...IA about Paul. Loved him in Cool Hand Luke, one of my favorite classic films...Sounds like a perfectly lovely evening last night. Hope you enjoyed the hike today...I would love to come out for Napa, but I'll have to see. There is the possibility of that ski trip still, and now that it looks like I'm doing the travel program, I will have a once-a-month commitment to think about. But it is most definitely a very serious consideration! :)

Gloria :: Yay for feeling back up-to-snuff again! How's my fellow teach doing? I'm very excited to be getting involved in this program. It's not school-based, so I may be traveling with kids from anywhere in the region, but I will try to recruit from my school. I have not tackled any schoolwork, either, and I'm thinking I will follow your lead and leave it for tomorrow. I need a mental health day. :)

Dallas :: I can understand MIL wanting to err on the side of caution while her immune system is vulnerable. Kids come into contact with so many germs at school. It is probably safest this way. There's always video conferencing!...*ha ha* re: my dream man. Not at all unrealistic, is it? :p

Jackie :: stomach is good. Just a little protesting from eating the wrong things. Nice run. Sometimes it's good not to be beholden to the electronic devices. I went w/out my iPod today b/c of the rain. What movie will you be seeing this time?

I had an enjoyable 5 miler, partially in the rain. Very refreshing. I have two little concerns at the moment, which have been present since my last long run: 1) a very slight twinge in the achilles (the bad one), and 2) a rather tight right hammy at the point of insertion. Kind of hard to get to it with a stretch, so I think I may need to foam roll. But overall, it felt great to get out there. :) :) :)

Tonight for laughs & inspiration, I'll be watching Run, Fat Boy, Run, which is finally out on DVD. :)

Workout is done. Did my 4.2 mile loop. Nice getting outside again.

Dallas: Sorry your MIL was not sounding so good. :( LIC is a great workout! Might have to revisit it soon. I am enjoying the day off of school work. Both dogs are sleeping right now too. :) Momma needs a little quiet time! LOL!

Jackie: GREAT 7.5 miles this morning! Wow, you have been productive today! The only thing I can say I did was workout and sweep the floor! Have fun with DBF!

Cathy: I always liked running in a light rain. It made me feel tough. :) I am not, but it's fun to think that sometimes. I have been doing ok. Very busy. The parent of the student I tutor called me this week asking me a math question and hinted that she would like me to add another day of tutoring during the week. I am a softie and offered the service another day. Now I have some obligation after school every day of the week except Friday. Oh well. She is a sweet girl. It has been hard for her to adjust to the middle school. This program you are doing sounds really neat! What organization are you working with? What a great learning experience! Yes, Saturday should be our OFFICIAL mental health day every week! :)

Hey everyone!

Am I ever frustrated! This has been a day from “you know where!”.

It started off that I was going to try to fit in a 15 mile run on my own, since Patty wasn’t running with me. I got to my destination, only to find that I had forgotten my Garmin, as well as my watch. Where I was running Is a lot of different loops, so I do different ones, change directions, etc. I did remember that my iPhone, which I had my iTrains, etc on. It has a stop watch and an interval timer. So I did set the stop watch and use that. I ran for 1 ½ hours and stopped. I have no idea how far I ran. I wanted to go 2 hours, but my youngest DD and I had planned a shopping trip to get the baby some stuff, since we now know the sex.

Today has been the day for everyone to get on my case about my running. My DH told me I would have more time to relax and not be so rushed if I didn’t run all the time. My oldest DD told me I never do anything with her because all I do is run (shoot….I spend at least one weekend day with her and the kids). My youngest DD told me after my marathon, I needed to stop running. Geez!!!! What is this….pick on Linda day???? L

So….I get home from running and sit down, type a looong post on a Word Document, then the girls and GK’s get here and we leave. I leave my document and Cheetah site up so that I could finish when I get home. I get home….it is gone! Grrrrr! DH had got on line and exited out of my stuff! I will try to type it over and hope to get it finished before we leave for dinner.

Okay…..sorry for the rant! I just want to cry!

I am sorry, I will try to post personals later, but if I get back too late, it will be tomorrow.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Linda

Gloria :: Nice job with the 4.2 loop. The fresh air did wonders for me, too. Your week sure is stacked now...I will admit, I would not like that, so my hat is off to you for being so selfless. I am sure it will mean a lot to your tutee to help her with the adjustment. I applied for People to People Student Ambassadors program. They travel all over the world. Teacher leaders recruit, run monthly meetings from Jan. to June, and are responsible for no more than 10 students during the trip. Every other detail about travel including flights, hotels, tour guides, etc. is handled by the organization, and the only cost to the teacher is spending money. If not enough students are recruited, I believe the newest leader would get cut from the trip (that would be me), but it seems that I have been placed on the itinerary I mentioned previously. I read up on some of the other activities, which include sheep wrangling (!) on a farm in Ireland, meeting a member of Parliament in London, a stop in Dublin, feeding the elderly, learning to put on a kilt, golfing in Scotland, visits to numerous castles, etc. I'm just so pumped! Some of my friends refer to me as the rolling stone when it comes to travel...this is just so me.

Linda :: Ranting can be healthy. No worries on the personals. Skip 'em! Your family, if I may say so, needs to back off. This is an important personal goal to you, and they should be supporting you, not giving you guilt trips and adding to your stress in the weeks before your marathon. I have the answer: anyone who wants to see more of you can strap on some running shoes and try to keep up! :) I see no reason for you to give up something you love, something that's healthy.
