^^^CHEETAHS^^^TGIF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

RE: ^^^CHEETAHS^^^TGIF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...

I just reached in my pocket and remembered one of my summer school students (one I had this year) wrote me a very nice letter telling me about her summer and asking if she can have my email because she had missed me last week. I told Cathy about her already. VERY high risk child. I feel a little wierd about this. Or am I being silly? Is this appropriate? In no way do I NOT want to communicate with her and help if needed with things, but just wondering what you ladies thought about it. My school email is public knowledge, it is right on the district website. As I write this I am thinking I am being silly, but just need a little affirmation. I would appreciate your thoughts. Thanks!

Cathy – Glad you had a great run! We’ve got some hot weather here – so expect that in about 3 weeks. Sleeping in for me is about 6:30/7. It’s wonderful, isn’t it? The weather in Boston was incredible. I was bummed to come home to a mini heat wave!

Marcia – Sounds like you’re keeping up the killer workouts! Glad to see you back here!

Judy – Great job at getting in your workout! I was pretty amazed at Tiger, too, but I have to admit I was cheering for Rocco – he was such an underdog and to put up such a fight! Oh yeah on the gymnast. She was incredible! We applauded so loud she must of heard us!

Jackie – Accents are the spice of life. I love listening to them. Good job at getting in half of UB+ and ARX. Hope your shoulder continues to heal!

Kath – I don’t have the patience for pettiness. What a waste of time! Enjoy your quiet afternoon!

Gloria – The trip was a blast. I really enjoyed it. Jimmy doesn’t come up on the bed or the furniture, but he’ll lay right beside me, then when he thinks it’s time for me to get up (or he has to go out), he’ll sit up and either put a nose in my face, or get his head underneath my hand. Goofy mutt. :p Aren’t dogs great? I wrote teachers and they really encouraged it. Even in college I kept in touch with some of them. I was not high risk, but I do know I really appreciated their notes. But honestly, just having someone to talk to with whom she connects could be a huge help to her. If her emails start getting dark and making you nervous, arrange a meeting with her parents and a school counselor or something.

Wendy – I think once you get the moves down, the workout will flow better for you. I’m anxious to see what you think after a second run through. Thanks for the review!

Well, I got my bike! YEAH!! I started the morning with UB+ and AC+ (Yowza! First time I did UB+ Great workout!). Then I picked up my bike (he sized me to make sure the fit is perfect, etc), and popped it on the trainer (as it’s 100 degrees out there) and did about 35 minutes of Spinervals Hillacious. Oh my! This bike is sooo smooth. I’m really loving it already, and I just got it. I’m hoping to get up early and ride in the AM. We’ll see thought. But I’m really loving my bike!

Gloria ~ I think the need for sleep is understandable at the end of the school year...I have students who email me, and a few who call or text me. My district is a little paranoid and wanted to advocate that we not communicate at all via email with kids, but if a kid needs to talk, how can you turn your back on them? No big plans. Have been enjoying some CABs :) :) :) while watching the Turkey vs. Croatia game. Went into overtime and PKs--man, what an exciting ending!!!

Christine ~ so happy for you loving your new bike! Oh no, don't send us another heat wave. Things are perfect as is! I also enjoy accents.

RE: ^^^CHEETAHS^^^TGIF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...

Christine: I can't imagine life without pets. We tried the no furniture thing with Ellie, but we kept finding that we wanted her close when we are watching movies, etc. Glad to hear you are loving the new bike! :) Thank you for the input!

Cathy: Thanks for getting back with about the email. As a teacher, I was very curious as to your opinion. Tis' Friday so CABS for EVERYONE!!! LOL!

When I first posted I had just gotten up from my nap. I decided to hop on the treadmill for a 4 mile run in 38:00. That is good for me! Off to shower and relax. I might order a movie off pay per view or just be a porch monkey. LOVE Friday!!! :)

RE: ^^^CHEETAHS^^^TGIF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...

Gloria ~ YW. I know nowadays there *is* risk, but the way I figure - this is why I'm in this field - because I want to help kids. If they want to stay in touch after they've moved onto HS, I'm honored, and if it's support they need, I'm there...*lol* about CABs for everyone. I'm doing my part.:7 Got a pizza and wings on the way. Life is good. With you on lovin' Friday!!

RE: ^^^CHEETAHS^^^TGIF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...

Cathy: YUM!!! Can I come over? I was thinking about pizza today. We live too far out so they won't deliver! x( Maybe I will get it tomorrow and suprise the boys at the shop with a pizza too. They would like that. As for the email, you are right. How can you not be there for kids when they need it. My goodness, that is our job, isn't it! I will hand write her a letter back this weekend and put my school email in it. I will save any correspondence we have. It was just so sweet, she handed it to me after class all folded up like they do with their notes. I have been really looking at the NB site. I was wrong, MI will only pay half. I can get scholarships etc. At this current time, I am financially unable to even submit the $560 for the sign up fee. Andy's salary is very minimal even though he works all hours of the day and I have to pick up most of the bills. Not only that, but we have to buy propane, get his breaks fixed, etc. I am by no means struggling, but have to hold on tight to what I have. I am dying for the new 8G ipod too, but just can't swing it. DH should be receiving a bonus here shortly and at the end of the year he will get another one. I will look more into it next year. I am hoping you will still be around here when I do seriously get into the program. Like I said before, my new principal has me fired up about teaching!

RE: ^^^CHEETAHS^^^TGIF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...

**passes Gloria a slice of thin-crust and a plate of wings* :)

Looks like it's you & me chattin' this evening. :7 That'd be nice to surprise the guys at the shop...I will definitely be here when you are ready to go for NB cert. If I'm not mistaken, I think there are corporate scholarships, too. Would you believe - I might actually start the reading specialist program as early as this fall? I'd figured on giving myself some time in between, but the outgoing guidance counselor really has me fired up, too. I'm, for sure, some kind of masochist! *lol* :7

RE: ^^^CHEETAHS^^^TGIF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...

Good Evening Cheetahs!:)

Dinner is done and potty time has begun. ;) Not sure what the rest of evening holds but I figured while Joey is sitting still watching a show, it's a good time to catch up on personals. DH is also in the other room watching some gross out horror flick. I was watching part of it from the kitchen while Joey was finishing up dinner and I swear I turned white, felt really nauseaus and almost passed out. I had to sit down. I'm such a wuss!:p :7

Lorie: Nice score on the seats! When's the show? Enjoy it! Sorry about your barking pups. I hope you were able to fall back to sleep shortly after you posted.

Cathy: Gotta love that internal clock, ey? I never really had one all of the years I worked full time but once I had a baby, it started! LOL I haven't been able to sleep past 7am much at all since Joey was born. :-( Oh well, atleast I get my quiet time in the morning. :) That pregnancy pact thing is way bizzarro. Kids today truly scare me. Good job on your sub 9 pace during your run! That's awesome! So what are your thoughts on the Godess work out? I think I recall you saying that the instructor is TOUGH not much of a smiler but that's all I remember. LOL

Kath: Sounds like your DD has one exciting job there! I know you worry but that's part of being a mom and you'd probably worry about her no matter what she did. ;)

Wendi: Don't feel bad about that extra hour's rest. You obviously needed it. I took a nap today before doing my work out. :) If staying away from sweets completely is what works for you then go for it. I tend to end up binging if I stay completely away for too long. }(

Shelly: Good luck with the house hunting this weekend! Thanks re the TM. It was very encouraging. Can't wait to get back to the gym on Monday now!!!

Carole: Ooooh Core Syn. I have a love/hate relationship with that one. Hope you enjoyed it!:)

Christine: I hope you are right about the SWAT work out. Time will tell. :) Glad you enjoyed your time in Boston. I've never been but it's on my list of places that I NEED to get to one day!:+ Glad you loved your new bike!

Marcia: Hope your feet have recovered!!!

Judy: I have a 5k tomorrow morning in the town right next door to me. I'm hoping it won't be hot/humid so that I can give it my all.

Jackie: Hope you caught my SWAT work out review that I posted above.

Gloria: Nice nap today! I don't have any advice re your student but I am sure you'll make the right decision. Go with your gut.

RE: ^^^CHEETAHS^^^TGIF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...

***Tastes the goodness and says, THANK YOU!*** LOL!

Glad you will be around. You are quite driven, but inspiring! I have a very high regard for our reading specialist. That would be really cool. Why not do it?? When I first started my Master's I was new to teaching middle school and wanted to learn the best strategies, so signed up for that. I didn't learn anything new that I couldn't have read on the Internet unfortunately. It was at the university where I earned my undergrad (very pleased with that training), but just not what I wanted. In retrospect, I wish I had pursued something like that. Have you ever thought of the future and possibly doing something administrative like curriculum director, or are you one who can't see yourself out of the classroom?

RE: ^^^CHEETAHS^^^TGIF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...

Wendy ~ That is one that Christine got rid of. I think it has a lot of premix options and what I sampled was a decent workout, but the instructor's personality is VERY DRY. I haven't reached for it again.

Gloria ~ I just love learning and want to keep improving. I have taught myself a lot about reading instruction and have amassed quite the professional library (*lol*), but I feel the specialist cert would be extremely beneficial, more so than a Ph.D., which was another consideration at one point. What was your Master's program? Ya know, I was urged to pursue admin by some in my former district and by my current principal, but I'm not sure I see what they see. I don't really envision myself ever going in that direction. Perhaps curriculum supervisor but not until farther down the line. That's what my M.S. is in--curriculum & instruction. I still need 12 grad credits to get NJ certified for a supervisory position. What about you? Do you see admin as an area of interest?

RE: ^^^CHEETAHS^^^TGIF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...

Cathy: Thanks for the warning. I'm a wierdo though so I'll probably like it!:p :7

RE: ^^^CHEETAHS^^^TGIF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...

Wendy: I do not like watching scary movies either. They give me nightmares. I will be thinking of you on your 5K. :)

Cathy: My Masters is in middle level education. Well, I have 6 credits to complete it, which I need to get on top of for next summer. I earned my professional certificate last year. I am in no way (at this time) interested in administration. I just love being in the classroom with the kids. I am lucky to say that I like my job. Yes, I bi@$h and complain a lot, but I can't imagine doing another job. The snow days are a bonus too! LOL! After thinking about it, I do not mind teaching in a low income area either. Have you read Tovani's I Read it but I don't Get it? We did a book study at the middle school and it has some great strategies. I definately think you should do this.

RE: ^^^CHEETAHS^^^TGIF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...

Wendy ~ I don't dislike KG, but it's not like Anthony for me. Though I've taken a break from kb's for a bit, I will certainly use it again to explore more of the mixes.

Gloria ~ Same for me re: loving being in the classroom. There is nothing really about admin that appeals to me. I do have ideas for different schoolwide programs, though. :) about the snow days. Yes, I have read Tovani's book and agree it's full of practical value. She is good. I guess you could say I am a PD text junkie. :7 I am a big fan of Nancie Atwell, Kelly Gallagher, and Janet Allen as well.

RE: ^^^CHEETAHS^^^TGIF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...

Cathy: My former principal took an assitant principal job in the new city. She has been at our school (first principal job) for 8 years and she is tired. She is very happy with the change even though it is a lot less money. They will be living on a VERY tight budget. Her girls are still little and she wants to be able to spend more time with them. She would eventually like to teach at the university level, and there is a university there. I wish her the best. She is one of the best I have ever worked with. That is great that your former administrators have approached you about your skills. That is quite impressive! This winter was a bear and we ended up with 5 snow days. :) I have heard of all the authors you are speaking of except Kelly Gallagher. Please share the title. We use the Lucy Calkins format for writing workshop. I am suddenly feeling my eye lids lower. Why am I so tired!!! I am signing off for the night. Thanks for the conversation! Have a fabulous evening! I will be back tomorrow! :) It is a good feeling to know so many good teachers!
