Cathlete
Good morning, cheetahs~ :)

I was quite peeved yesterday that I had to even scrap the TM. I went to the movies with my mom (we saw The Lives of Others - WOWOWOW!!! My interest may be biased as my mom grew up in East Germany and later escaped, but I thought it was a phenomenal film!) and was feeling pretty good, so I decided to grade some essays (yeah, I'm still doing that -- *rolls eyes* lol) Anyway, I guess that level of concentration was the wrong move because -- bang! -- the migraine came back with a vengeance. Again, I'm grateful that I no longer get them as often and yesterday's wasn't the worst by any means, but I just HATE how they interfere with your life!! Well, I will try again today with a run + YogaX. Since today is day 7 of the rotation (I started on Monday), it won't be that bad. I'll have two cardio and all the weights in. I can live with that.

OK, now off to catch up with yesterday's posts. Seems like it was a light day for the cheetahs...

Cathy :)

Oh shoot - I just realized I have the wrong date up there...sorry, guys!

JESS :: I know you get them frequently – it sucks! And isn’t it weird how they usually occur around TTOM?? I don’t understand what exactly triggers mine…do you? I’d never really gotten one until my mid-to-late 20s. The first time it happened I thought something went terribly wrong with my contact lenses. But in the last year or two, the migraines started to go away, and then adult acne came and took its place – DOH!! *lol* Re: the film, see above. Let me know what you think of Music and Lyrics. If you love cheesy 80s music (as I do), you’ll probably get a kick out of it…Absolutely, hindsight is 20/20. I really believe that most runners learn it the hard way at some point.

SUSAN :: how was the movie?…I didn’t realize there were SO MANY downward dogs in YogaX!! I figured I could handle a few—I was probably feeling too cocky, though, because this one wasn’t as bad as most migraines I’ve had. I agree that yoga is an excellent complement to running. I really should not let it lapse the way I do…Glad you were able to get in a run of some kind. I think your approach makes sense. Progress, no matter how slow, is good!! Hang in there, and keep being gentle to your body.

MARCIA :: was YogaX your introduction to yoga? I had to cut it off at about the 30-minute mark, too ~ but I’m going to give it another shot today. Not sure of my thoughts on it yet. From what I have seen, I can say it is different from the practice I am used to. Is the white stuff still comin’ down up there?…The snowmobile pub crawl sounds fun!…Hope your power stays put!

LINDA :: Being that I am now on the P90 rotation, I will probably hold off on Barry until I’m through. I like your ideas for how you’ll be modifying the classic rotation. I imagine I will be doing something similar to make sure I get in my running and (soon) Fluidity…Ugh! I hate when our devices crap out on us! Good run, anyway!

BARB :: I can see how being Taxi Mom might work the nerves every now and then…my commute to work is 30 minutes each way. Most days, I don’t mind – it’s great to clear the head and relax. But some days, it just gets ya and you don’t want to be in the car….Isn’t it great when you get can get two days out of a haircut? :) Great job on remembering where most of the cheetahs are! I’da screwed that up, for sure!

CHRISTINE :: hey, there ~ sounds like yesterday was a busy day for you. The silvar and kurta sound very pretty as do the saris you have mentioned before. You really should post some pics for us! :) I love your new signature...I should get me one o' those.

What happened to Carole yesterday?

Cathy :)

Good morning ladies,

yesterday, never had a chance to fit in my run so i will add it to today's workout (MM).

me and my girlfriend went to see daddy's little girls. such a wonderful movie. a real tear jerker. afterwards we went to a restaurant called pig pickin's and well...we ate like pigs, lol.

cathy- good job with the grading of the papers. one day you will have to fill us in on the story of your mother. sounds very interesting.

Have a great day everyone and enjoy your workout of choice today:)

Hey Cheetahs!

Cathy: I thought the same thing about Carole. I didn't post much but I was reading a bit y'day and noticed that Carole never came by. I hope she's okay. It's odd for her not to pop in atleast once a day. Sorry that the migraine came back. NO GRADING PAPERS FOR YOU TODAY until you finish your work out, you hear!?!:p Congrats on just about completing week 1 of the X! I'm glad you are enjoying it. So are you doing Doubles? I can't tell cause the first phase is identical to the classic rotation! LOL

Sorry I wasn't around much y'day. I ended up blowing off my work out too. ACK! It's really not so bad. I took my rest day 1 day early and will run today. I downloaded a new ITread for the first time in ages so I'm excited to try it! It's a 30 minute run composed of all sprints! WOOH HOO!}( }( }( Tomorrow I start the recovery week of phase 2 with yoga! I may get to the gym for a run in the morning as well. I want to add 2 or 3 runs to recovery this time. It's a good time to sneak them in!;)

Joey's been at his Aunt Gina's house since Friday. We are going to meet them at my MIL's house for dinner this afternoon since we have to pick him up anyway. First I have to get to the gym and clean my house though. DH is going ahead of me to help his dad again so I will have the golden opportunity to be in the house ALONE again. I am going to use the time to clean. I love to clean when no one is home!!! It's fabulous!!!:) ...Um..did I just say that cleaning was fabulous!?! *re-reads what she wrote and sighs in relief* No no...I said that being able to clean when no one is home is fabulous...cleaning itself still stinks! LOL *high fives Sunny ;)*

Okay, I think I have made up for y'day's absense with my chattiness so I will stop writing my novel now! LOL I think I will catch up on some personals though so I'll be back!

ETA: Hi Sunny! We were posting at the same time! No worries...DH and I ate at TGIF's last night and I didn't exactly watch myself either! OINK! LOL :7

Hi Laura! You snuck in there too somehow! LOL Good luck househunting! We are supposed to be putting our house up for sale soon.

:)

hello,

I didnt do any exercise yesterday. we went and looked at houses yesterday. We found one that would be perfect for us but they want alot for it,plus we still will need to sell our house. I would have so much room in that house I wouldnt know what to do. I cant wait until we can get a new one,we are so bunched up in my current home.

anyway I plan on doing something today but dont know what yet. I was thinking either barrys total body bootcamp or splitting upper and lower body workouts and doing p90x shldrs and arms and a cathe lower body. I didnt get a chance to do upper body the other day and I need a second leg workout this week. decisions, decisions! I will add on to whatever I do the barre method sculpting workout again. I plan on doing the 10sessions to see if I notice a difference.

talk with you all later!

OK, I just tried to fool around with adding a signature, but I'm not sure if it will work...here goes a try.

SUNNY :: glad I'm not the only one playing catch up this week. Even though I have gone to matinees two weekends in a row, I am really out of the loop when it comes to movies. I don't know what Daddy's Little Girls is about...Both my parents have pretty interesting stories...My father grew up in W. Germany post-WWII and they actually met in Africa. I think I'll have to give you the CliffNotes version :)

WENDY :: my plan exactly - my workout comes first today! One of the things I love about weekends is being able to work out without a time crunch, so the ill-timed migraine ticked me off. I am doing the Classic. I can't believe you are already in Phase 2. When do we get to see the progress pics?

LAURA :: I would like to squeeze in a Bar Method tonight, too. I think the time goes by quickly. Meant to ask, how's the situation with your father?

~Cathy :)

Those who indulge...buldge!

http://www.cartooncottage.com/images/scalestranslil.gif

ETA: Hey, it worked! Now how about I go back and spell BULGE right! *lol*

Susan, Oh I know how fast they grow up! I can't believe we'll be celebrating Joey's second birthday in only a few months! Where did the time go!?!? I remember when I found out I was pregant like it was yesterday!!!!

Jess, I know what you mean about the kids outlasting you in the cold! When I took Joey out the other day I was freezing and he didn't seem to care at all! LOL

Marcia, So is that snow all cleared up so you can go out and get yourself a yoga mat? ;)

Linda, I am starting phase 2 recovery tomorrow and I am ALREADY thinking of how to approach my work outs post X!LOL It's so hard to commit to a rotation for me! I am very surprised that I have stuck w/the X for this long with out faultering! LOL I was thinking of alternating various 1 month rotations with a month of the X. I thought that might be an interesting mix!}(

Barb, I am subbing for all X cardios pretty much and I added some cardio as well. I am running 1x, taking a cardio class at the gym 1x and doing a lowerbody circuit 1x each week. I will add a few runs in during recovery this time as well.}( I am bracing myself for Joey getting older and having activities that I have to shuffle him around too. I can be very stingy about my work out time...it's going to be quite the adjustment for me when the time comes!

Christine, How was the dinner party? Are you sore from SS? What's on the agenda for today?

cathy- i will anxiously await your stories re: parents. i love fascinating love stories:). daddy's little girls is about a poor single father of 3 little girls, while falling in love with his rich lawyer (one of the issues) he has to fight a completely unfit mother for his daughters. good movie!

wendy- high five's right back at ya...did i ever tell you i finally got to hire someone to come and clean? when i was working both jobs it was just too much to have to clean the house also (besides, you know how much i just loooooooooove cleaning, NOT)so we hired someone. even though i am not working both jobs now, i refuse to give her up...lol. how is the pt manual coming along?

laura- have fun with your workout today! good luck househunting.

christine- yes please post pics wearing your new saris!

ttyl...

Sunny,

Good for you girl! NEVER give up that cleaning lady! How often does she come??

I have less then 100 pages left of the manual. *phew* Then I will start the exam. I will do the section that is taken from that manual and then move on to reading the NEXT book. It's *ONLY* 200 pages though so it should be a breeze! LOL ;)

Cathy,

Right now I intend to reveal the progress pics at the end but if they continue to be AWFUL then they may not get revealed at all and the #'s will have to do!:-(
So what made you decide on the Classic rotation? Doubles is a lot once the 5 days of cardio kicks in. Is the time factor what made your decision? Less cardio coupled with the heavy lifting is doing wonders for me! I admit to missing the cardio but I can deal for 3 months!;)

wendy- i will fight to the death for her...lol. she comes every 2 weeks. so i still have to do some cleaning in between her visits, but she does the bulk of it. wooooooohooooooo!! how many manuals do you have to read? i am taking the group ex. cert. on 3/17, so i really need to buckle down and start studying. i have barely picked up the manual (GASP);) I am so excited for you to complete your exam and become a pt!!!

thanks to everyone who continues to support my pt job!! it has really picked up so quickly. my GM told me yesterday they are planning to open more gyms in the areas so there will be more advancement opportunities for me!!! yesterday one of my clients ( she was a very unhappy client until i came) told my mgr. if i were to leave she is taking her business elsewhere...haha. just had to toot my own horn a bit:7 :+ :D

sunny-wish I could have someone clean my house. It is never ending with 3 rugrats!

cathy-hope your migraines go away. Have you ever tried excedrin migraine relief? My dad hasnt been as bad lately. He asked why I was picking on him so much lately and I told him I just cant tolerate someone who is dirty,he didnt say a word. But He got his hair cut and has been changing his clothes more often and lighting his candle in his room.

wendy- we still have to sell our home which will make it more of a pain with buying but I guess there are bridge loans you can do until your house sells but it's more money you have to pay. Hopefully ours would sell fast. It will be one of the more affordable homes in our area so that will help.

My job with the new company starts on thursday, meaning more money but I am nervous about whether they have the coverage or not ,we'll see I guess.I hope carole is okay. I agree with you all, she always comes by but maybe she got busy with soemthing unexpected.

see ya!

Well, we are officially snowed in! We had trouble just getting out the back door. DS took the four wheeler out with the plow, but the drifts are too big he couldn't even clear it. So, until the County plow or neighbors with their tractor come through we are stuck. x(

I believe the storm is over, though, so the bar will be very busy today with snowmobilers I'm sure. I will probably have to help, but that will get me out of the house anyway.

I am very stiff and slightly sore this morning, do you think it could be from StretchX, that workout was more stretching than I've EVER done.

Today is suppose to be Legs and Back, but if I have to work that will be put on the backburner until tomorrow. Unless my muscles loosen up a bit before I have to leave and work.

Marcia.

Good morning cheetahs

I was MIA yesterday...took a rest day as my lower back and glute were so sore on friday. Decluttered in my PC room, which annoyed my DH as it is HIS clutter!! And my sister and I are taking back my Mom's new PC today and exchanging it, nothing but problems with it! It runs way slower than I run..:)

Cathy...sorry about the migraines. I had a headache yesterday too but nothing severe as a migraine. That is how I feel about my back and glute...not bad but they seem to interfere with my life! Hope you get in your run and YogaX. Thanks for thinking about me yesterday and I LOVE your new signature...:)

Sunny...sounds like a fun day yesterday with your girlfriend. Have a fun run and MM workout. I think your PT business is really taking off well. You found a great niche!

Laura...so it is time for a bigger house! I bet you would like that...maybe a spare room for your workout stuff??...:)...thanks you also for your thoughts.

Wendy...thanks for thinking about me yesterday. Have fun with the sprinting iTread. I just love those iTreads and iClimbs. I think that would be good to add a couple of runs to your recovery week. Joey's pic is so cute as your avatar. Your couch looks the same color as mine...:)...I am so with you on cleaning the house when you are ALONE!

Well we have been getting alot of rain so today is a 10 mile trail run. It'll be like playing in mud as a kid!!

You cheetahs are great, thanks for being here...:) and have a great day...

Good morning cheetahs!!! I've been missing a couple of days:( I had a work stretch and with 12 hr shifts it can be difficult to work out and find the time to postx( Anyway, looking forward to a few days off and catching up:)

I got in a good steady 3 mile run yesterday and today will be an 8 mile trail run. This is the first time in ages I'll have run 2 consecutive days but I feel recovered enough from injuries now that I feel ready. I probably will hold my runs to 4 days a week though.
Still feeling strong and pain free:7 My speed is slowly coming back too:7 I'll probably get in the B&G leg blast workout today also:)

Last nite DH and I had a small dinner party to say goodbye to my sister who is headed to Pakistan. It was also to celebrate our 22nd wedding anniversary:7 which is actually today. My sister and I got to do a little motorcycling beforehand which was fun!

I'm unusually chatty this morning! Okay, I'll be back with some personals

ShellyC

Hi everybody! Hope you're all enjoying your Sunday!

Sorry, yet again, for being MIA. I'm still battling a few bouts of ehadaches that pop up during the day, and when I eat my stomach hurts. BUT....almost 100%. I've been doing nothing but relaxing and enjoying the weekend with the kiddos. No workouts, though, and I'm a bit frightened about how to jump back in and pick up my routine. This was supposed to be an 8-mile long run week, but none of this week's workouts got done due to illness. This coming week's schedule looks to be identical to this past week's, so I should be able to just start the fresh week tomorrow, as scheduled. We'll see.

We're about to get hammered too, with another winter storm. Several inches of snow followed by several inches of ice, starting this afternoon and going till tomorrow sometime. Looks like another snow day for the kids!

On a much more personal note, DFiance and I are working on some 'issues' of both our families together and his ability to stretch himself SO thin that he keeps promising different people different things, then dissappoints us all. Issues. What else can I say?

Sorry for babbling and for no personals. I DID READ IT ALL THOUGH!

And, I have to admit, I'm kind of craving the X once again! LOL. GEESH! How can a girl make up her mind???? LOL

Later, gators...or CHEETAHS!

Gayle

:) :) :) :) PERSONALS :) :) :) :)

Cathy- I LOVE your signature with the talking scale!! Too cute :)
One of these days I'll have to figure out how to do that. Sorry you got a migraine grading all those papersx( Those are quite nasty and can really ruin a day! Doing YogaX will be good for you today.
Despite it's length I really like this Yoga better than any others I've tried. Obviously I'm not much of a yoga person!

SunnyD- I't no surprise to me that your clients are so devoted to you. My guess is that you treat them all like individuals and really talk to them. Sounds like you had a fun girlfriend day :7
Glad you're finding time to relax! Have a great run.

Laura- How exciting that you're shopping for a new house! This is a great time to be buying. It can be a bit bewildering though!
I was reviewing Claire Kowalchik's "Running for Women" and I saw this bit and thought of you---"Being relaxed about your weight will help you manage it more successfully. It's often when we fret and struggle the most that we achieve the poorest results. When we stop worrying about weight and simply eat healthy foods and run regularly, our bodies find their own best weight and shape"

Wendy- You're spring iTread sounds like a good one! I don't think I've heard you mentioning speed workouts before. Hey... did you mention "fun" and "cleaning" together???? OMG that is sick! ;-)
Are you planning on moving also? Are you going to stay in the same town you're in now?

Carole- I'm so sorry you're still having the old "pain in the butt"
See what happens when you're so dependable??? You miss one day and everyone freaks!;-) Have a great 10 mile mud run today! Are you still planning on the 10 mile race next weekend?

Marcia- StretchX is unusually intense I agree! Hope the soreness and stiffness are leaving ya!

That's all I have time for now. Hopefully I can check back in later.
Hi to all the other cheetahs!!

ShellyC

Hi Gayle! Sorry you've been sick:) I hope you opt just for a light workout today and defer the long run! Stay warm!!!!

ShellyC

Hi ya!

Just got back from the gym a little while ago. I did the new work out (AWESOME!) and then ran on my own until I hit the 5 mile mark. I'm pooped! }(

Off to eat lunch, clean and then shower up for dinner at MIL's later.

I hope to get back here for more personals before I have to leave.

Love my Cheetahs! :*

Toodles!:)

Happy Sunday Cheetahs!

I was good last night. I ate one small plate of appetizers and one plate (not filled at all) of dinner. It helped that we were all talking about running and the races we were going to do. It’s funny to hear the ladies talk after hearing y’all talk. They are running at a 4.5 mph pace. I didn’t even know you COULD run at that pace. But, they’re doing it, and going some distance, so I’m cheering them on. They are all very excited about the races. Funny, though, I AM really the Cheetah of that group. :+ I’m not sure what I’m doing today. It’ll be a cardio mish mosh. I’m not going to the gym as I want to color my hair and that works best after a workout.

Cathy – I’m so sorry a migraine hit you yesterday. I hate headaches and cannot even imagine what a migraine would be like! Hope you’re feeling better!! That movie sounds incredible! I’d love to see it. Oh, your new signature is adorable! And I also thought the same thing about Carole!

Sunny – Have fun with MM and your run! Glad you had a great girls night and no one can do pig out food like North Carolina – was it a BBQ place? I miss NC’s BBQ! Oh, and I would not surrender my cleaning lady for anything! We had her even when I wasn’t working. It’s sooo nice!!

Laura – Good luck with your house – both selling and buying. Enjoy your workout whatever you choose! I’m in the same bag – should I do this, that or this other thing?!

Wendy – is that iTread 13 30 minute? I love that one. It’s short but FAST! I may do that over lunch tomorrow. So, you’re having a day alone to clean the house? Have fun – I like cleaning when no one is home, too. Things actually stay where I put them – what an amazing concept!

Carole – glad to see you post! But, I’m sorry your back and glute were sore!! Busy day!! Enjoy your mud run! It’s icky and windy here and you are far braver than I. I’ll stick to an indoor workout.

Marcia – Wow – that’s some snow!! Isn’t Stretch X good, though? I might do that today, too.

Shelly – that’s okay – we love to see you post whenever you can! 12 hours shifts? Wow! I hope your days off are relaxing (well as relaxing as our SuperCheetah Shelly can handle!). Your sister is in my prayers. I hope she’s safe. And HAPPY ANNIVERSERY!!! 22 years? That’s great!

Gayle – Oh wow – I’m sorry you’re not feeling well. I think you’ll be okay when you’re feeling up to working out – just take it slow… And I have some issues with my DH that way – he hates to say “no” and will promise things that he can’t do. Smart of you to work these out before you get married. It’s tough to blend two families – I know. {{{HUGS}}}
Barb – busy, busy lady!! How’d the long run go?

Waves hello to all who follow! Guess I should get my tail in gear here!!

Hi ladies~
Just came in from a 6-mile run (I think my nose ran as much as I did, but it was great to be out there in the fresh air!), took a quick shower to ward off the chills, and am sitting here warming up before it’s on to YogaX, round two!

Wendy :: I like the alternating rotation idea. I think I’m going to wind up subbing for most of the cardio, too. I’d prefer to get in at least 3 runs plus 1 k’boxing day per week. I wanted to give Plyo a try last week (and I still will give it a chance), but I don’t usually like high-impact, so in all likelihood, I’ll wind up doing intervals instead. And then of course, Fluidity will have to factor in there somewhere…Ya know, it’s too bad I have to work – it seems to be getting in the way of my workout plans. *lol* So yes, the time issue is what made me go for Classic – I figured I’d better start simple. I’ll bet your pictures look a lot better than you think! I took mine the other day and was aghast that I had just ordered a two-piece swimsuit from Victoria’s Secret—WTH was I thinking??? *lol*

Sunny :: ooh, that sounds like a good one ~ I’ll have to check it out! Any excuse for more popcorn works for me!!…OK, I will share the condensed version of the story in a bit…Great news about more gyms opening up in the area. No doubt your business will continue to expand. Hey, toot away! It’s such a scary thing to abandon the known for the unknown and embark on a totally new career – especially one that means a lot to you personally. So, to have the kind of instant success you’ve had has to feel utterly fantastic. You deserve it!

Laura :: yes, I used to use Excedrin Migraine when I got them more often. I found that that & Gatorade helped tremendously. Luckily, I do not get them often anymore. It has been over a year since I had the last one. I’m glad your father’s shaping up a bit.

Marcia :: is the bar connected to your house? I think you *could* be sore from stretching. Doing any routine for the first time that you don’t normally do can do it, I think. But I am finding with the P90 workouts that the DOMS sometimes gets me the SECOND day. I guess it's DDOMS.

Carole :: sorry about the back & glute! Hope the rest day helped. Fortunately for me, a migraine is a rarity nowadays. But it is annoying to have it throw off your day. Thanks re: my signature – I figured it might help keep me in line! Yeah, right! In reality, it’s just making me want a Twinkie. *lol*

Shelly :: Happy anniversary!!!…I’m glad you were able to give your sister and BIL a nice sendoff…Those 12-hour shifts must be rough when they’re back-to-back like that…The migraine actually initially hit me about an hour after I woke up (which was at a ridiculous hour)…I managed to go back to bed & sleep some and felt surprisingly better the second time I woke up. Thought I could tackle YogaX, but there were too many inverted poses, so I had to scrap it. I figured I’d give it another stab (or maybe just walk on the TM) in the afternoon or early evening. As the day wore on, I felt pretty decent and began grading the essays. But by the end of it, that danged thing was back full-force. It really is a mystery to me why women are prone to them.

Gayle :: glad you’re on the mend and have been able to relax and kick back some despite some of the other issues going on. Hope you two can work those out!…I also hope the storm wallops South Jersey ~ I wouldn’t mind another snow day, either. Just one more and then I will finally be out of this grading hole!!!! So, please, may the snow gods smile upon us!!

Christine :: good job keeping the feeding frenzy contained last night - it's SO hard at social gatherings!! Appetizers are my weakness. Thanks--I had to go and get myself an animated signature like yours! :)

~Cathy :)
