Cathlete
Good morning, cheetahs :)

Today I'm scheduled for L&B and a run, but I'm dying to try out Iron Yoga :), so I may have to mix things up again...

Hope everyone has a terrific Saturday!
~Cathy :)

Good morning cathy and all cheetahs to follow!

today i have on tap MM & some form of cardio. last dig before my cruise!!

shelly- i did get some really cute/sexy dresses and sandals. since i've been living in sweats, sneakers and my same ol trainer shirt, i felt the need to dress/feel more feminine.

carole- i agree i also the BBC's S& A. it's an awesome workout.

christine-many congratulations on the job offer!! i just knew you would get the position.

wendy- awesome job on your unassisted pull-up. what a great accomplishment!

ladies, i gotta run and workout and then i am off for a facial. haven't had one in many years...lol

I hope everyone enjoys their day and their workouts:)

Hello Friendly Cheetahs

Happy Easter!

Sunny~~ It 's cruise time for you! Enjoy the change of pace! :)

Wendy~~ What do you have on tap for after this recovery week? Are you doing the running class again this spring?

Christine~~ Nice article about Dear Tucker! Excuse me for being out of loop, but what is your job offer? Good luck with it :)

Shelly~~ I saw that you needed a good rest and got it! Rest is so helpful mentally and physically!

Jes~~ (If you check in from Mom's ) How is Kiersten today? Those ear infections can really be painful! Is she a candidate for tubes?

Hi to all of thre Cheetahs today!!!

OK someone posted this earlier, but How to ITreads compare with cardio coaches? I am using my Cardio coaches and treadmill a bit more often now, and I am thinking of getting a few more of one or the the other.

Yesterday was 5 miles on the TM starting with CC 6 and then just doing steady state until I reached 5 miles. I am running slower than I did before trying to recover from this hip issue, but my HR averages around 170 during my runs.

PS The knee pain I expoerienced during my previous runs has not returned. I went to a running store and had them look at my shoes; they were fine. However my inserts had been through 3 pairs of running shoes. I bought new ones and they seem to have more stabiliy laterally in the heel.

If you fail to plan, then you plan to fail.

Good Morning Cathy, Sunny, Judy and all Chetahs who follow. :)

I am one very tired Cheetah this morning *Yawn*! I was up late last night hangin' with my friends. We had a couple of beers and bs'd the night away. It was fun. I ended up crashin' there. Didn't get to sleep until after 2am and was up at 6:15 getting ready to head home.

I am no longer going to the gym this morning. I am meeting my running buddy in an hour instead. There is a highschool across from the park we normally meet at so we are going to change it up and run the track this morning. :)

Man, my biceps are sore from B&B y'day! YOWZA!}(

Cathy: Let us know how your new Yoga vid is if you end up trying it out today.

Sunny: Enjoy MM! Burn baby burn!}( So you are bringing your kids on the cruise with you, right? :p :7 ;)

Judy: I plan to do a couple weeks of BBC and then I am going to check out what Cathe has in store for her May rotation. I will give that a shot if it's to my liking. Yes, I *AM* actually taking another running class! It's starts on Monday as a matter of fact!:)

Okay, gotta go for now! BBL!

:)

Judy- so glad to hear you are no longer experiencing any pain. as far as CC and itrain's i really love them both. i've begun leaning more towards the itrain's because of the cost and variety.

wendy- ha, no kiddies:p . it's dh and I's anniversary so we are cruisin' solo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i didn't get a chance to do bi's and tri's with MM so i will have to hit those tomorrow.

BBL...

Good morning cheetahs

Cathy..I am sure the meathead clientele would have made me turn tail and run! I never minded Tony's banter either. To me he is just kinda silly...:)...so tell me about Iron Yoga. Enjoy your workout, whatever you decide on.

Sunny...have fun with MM and cardio. Enjoy the facial.

Judy..glad your knee pain is gone. I am not sure the real reason but I don;t like the CC's nearly as well as the iTrains. Could be because I use an Elliptical instead of a TM. I feel the iTrains are harder than the CC's.

Wendy...those strip sets in B&B are tough. Good job on upping your weights for the last round. Any word form SNM? Enjoy your run today.

Marcia...so, did you figure out and "X" rotation for yourself?

Christine...no commute would be great, considering gas prices!! I hope the new position works out for you. Yes, I would say to check out that iClimb workout. Thank you for you very sweet words...:)

Karen...hope you had a nice kickbox and core workout yesterday.

Jackie...I like Keith too and prefer him over the CC workouts and Sean. I do agree about the flow of some of the GS premixes...they always seemed a bit choppy to me.

Shelly...I also have used the Tylenol PM (minus the tylenol) too occasionally for insomnia. Sounds like another super workout for you yesterday!!

I got home early yesterday and did MM bi's & tri's and then 30 min on my EXT.

Today will be some sort of circuit using my EXT and legs, shoulders and back exercises.

Have a great day...:)

Hey gang - I'm up and ready to roll for the day after bartending/cooking last night. Whew....we were busy!!!! I made more homemade pizzas in two hours than ever before  I don't mind because that means people love it and will be back. Our business has really flourished, but being in the bar business for 11 years sure wasn't easy.

Carole - I haven't figured out a rotation yet. I'm struggling with all I want to do and the time it would take to do it. :) I teach 2 circuits, 1 step class, LOVE 'X' and running. So, that's a lot to put into a rotation. I'm feeling very committed because I want to see results. I need to lose weight, so that's a factor, too. Maybe today I'll have time to put something down, I'm sure it will have to be a doubles rotation.

Cathy - I'd mix up your workout, too, to fit in the new yoga. It's hard to have a new workout and not actually do it.

Wendy - Enjoy your run! What are you training for this time? A 1/2 or full marathon? Or just to have a group to run with? Your night with friends sounds absolutely wonderful!

Sunny - A cruise with DH A L O N E .........romance in the air!!! HAVE FUN!!!

Well, I'm off to make beds, color Easter eggs with DS and figure out a really good supper. We are ALL three going to be home for a change. Maybe lasagna???? It's not going to even reach 30 degrees AGAIN so we need some comfort food :7

Take care, I'll keep checking back.
Marcia.

Good morning cheetahs! Hope everyone is having a great weekend so far!

Cathy- The name "iron yoga" really got my attention! It's very hard to find a yoga tape that appeals to me. Let me know how it goes.

SunnyD- I'm gonna want to see some cruise pics with those new outfits! I treated myself to a facial (my first) about a year ago... it felt wonderful! Have a good one!

Judy- It's such a treat to hear from you and I'm so glad to hear that you are continuing to do well, (pain free) with your running. I bet the new inserts will help to prevent that knee pain from recurring.

Wendy- Hooboy did you ever have a girlfriend nite:7 :7 I'm surprised your throat isn't sore from yakking;-) --actually I'm quite jealous! Have a great track run today... that's something I could never get into, but it'll help doing it with a friend.

Carole- I love circuit days!!! I try to fit in at least on a week.
Going for a long run tomorrow?

Marcia- That's great that your business is doing so well. You obviously love that job.... it's too bad you cant do that one full time. Have a great family dinner tonight.... lasagna:9
You didn't mention a workout.... got any planned?

Well, today is my long run challenge. I'm running a local trail that is very hilly:eek: I've run it many times before in a single loop of about 6.5 miles. Today my goal is to do it twice. It would be comparable to the half marathon route I'll be running in May. I've downloaded more new songs on the iPod and have made up a fresh batch of Cytomax.... I'm ready!

Hi to all you beautiful cheetahs who follow!

ShellyC

Hey, I'm back.

I was more awake after my run but now that I've showered and warmed up and ate, I am sleepy again. It's almost time to go pick up the little one and then I can snooze! ;)

I met my friend at the track and we ran for 25 mins. We didn't count the laps and both of us left our garmins at home. It was kinda nice to run with out the added pressure of knowing EXACTLY how you are doing at all times!:p It was ***COOOOOLD*** out there! ALOT colder the we bargained for! The wind was killing us! We *ALMOST* hopped back in our cars to head for the gym instead but we endured!;)

I haven't heard back from SNM yet. If I don't hear back by Monday I'm just going to delete the message.

Well, I should go...I don't want to miss my window of opportunity to get the little guy before he wants to go to sleep! }(

I promise to come back later with personals!

Ciao Bellas!:+

Good morning ladies,
I am finally here to do some personals and try to catch up a bit. My sister and her family are leaving tomorrow so I will be here full time again soon:) We went to San Francisco yesterday for the day and had a great time at the wharf, but it was really really cold and windy.

My back is still feeling really good and I did Drill Max yesterday and it felt great. I still modified some of the moves with the elliptical to be safe. Today, I am going to do the elliptical and maybe add a 2 mile run at the end.

Cathy, That is great that you have Lasik in your future. My hubby did it and has had great results. Let us know how you like Iron yoga. I have heard good thinks about it. Also, I will try to book a flight to get in the same time as Carole and Shelly. If you are out of room, I have NO problem taking the shuttle. Thank you so much for trying to accomodate all of us.

Sunnydelite, how excited you must be to be going on your cruise soon. I too need to get some cute sun dresses. I am definitley a jean girl and t-shirt girl. When are you leaving?

Judy, it sounds like you are almost injury free as well. It is amazing how running a slower pace still gets the heartrate up there. I could not live without my inserts. I get new ones once a year.

Wendy, that is nice you met your friend for a run. It is cold here today too. It sounds like you had a fun time last night, you party animal}(

CArole, I did see Shelly's post a couple of days ago and I will be booking my tickets today. I am also going to come in on Thursday and will try to match up the times with you guys. Are you able to do step yet with your glute issue? I have found that running now for me feels better than the step, which is fine right now because it had been so long. I tell ya I am really liking the way I feel after the chiro and am definitley going to stick with it. I like using the elliptical too for circuit workouts. I used it with Drill max and it was a blast. Have a great day:)

Marcia, I too need to be doing something for easter for tomorrow, thanks for the reminder. I love Lasagna, YUM!!!! I have to have a loaf of French bread with it though and a little bit of wine.
;-)

Shelly, I am laughing at you knowing that you would love the name Iron Yoga. It sounds like something you would have invented}(
I saw your post about Thursday night for the road trip. Thank you for changing the reservation. I will also be there on Thursday and will try to be in on close to the time you and Carole are. I am so excited. Have a great run!

Christine, GREAT news on the job opportunity. I saw the last pic of the puppy and what a beautiful and sweet little face he has. I read the article about Tucker. That was so well written and I am glad that it was written. It is a lesson to all of us cell phone users.

Well ladies, I am off to fix breakfast for my family and relatives.

Cheers!

Susan

BTW, I bought the Karen Voight pilates dvd core and back and it is WONDERFUL!!! I highly recommend it.

Cathy-which workout did you end up doing? Iron Yoga has me interested! Lol

SunnyD-one last HARD workout before cruisin’ away into the sunset, hugh? I’m jealous. I’ve been wanting to go on a cruise for a long time now. I’ve even considered going alone. lol

Judy-I LOVE the iTread workouts. I haven’t used CC so I can’t compare them, but I absolutely LOVE and iTreads. With all the treadmill work I put in, I’m so happy to have discovered them! For me, I need a workout like iTread to increase the intensity on the TM since I don't get the chance to run outside all that much. And...I’m curious about your inserts. Do you go thru sneakers as fast using them or do the sneaks last longer??? Just curious. It’s about time for me to replace these!

Wendy-your evening and today’s workout sound awesome! Always good to sit and chat with friends! I agree with you on running just for running. It’s hard to not get all caught up in the numbers. That’s my biggest issue with doing so much of my training on the TM…that darn console! LOL

Carole-enjoy your workout!!!!!!!!!!!!

Marcia-congrats on such an awesome business. That alone is a daily workout, isn’t it? Enjoy the family time this weekend. And I feel your ‘pain’ when it comes to getting in all the workouts you want and feel you need to do. I have that problem now, while I’m following a training schedule. BUT…just decide what is your first goal, and work around that!

Shelly-can’t wait to hear how your long run goes today. What’s Cytomax? Like Gatorade or something???

Susan-you ‘sound’ wonderful. Between your family time and your back feeling better, I’m sure you’re doing really well.

OK…as for me. Well, I had really hoped to be able to run this weekend’s 13 mile long run with the team, but I wasn’t able to get anybody to sit with my kids this morning. Then, once I had it in my head that I was going to do my long run today instead of Sunday, well…..that’s all I needed. lol I ended up doing the 13.1 mile distance on the TM. {{{{BIG SIGH}}}} I did 4.5 miles on my own, then iTread 8, then finished out with music. Know what? I’m worn out now. lol I feel like I really took a beating on that TM this morning. I don’t think it’s such a great idea to incorporate an iTread workout into what SHOULD be a steady long run. I won’t be doing that again! lol

Anyway…it’s done. Then I worked in the kitchen a while….made a carrot cake (healthy version), pickled eggs and beets and a soup for tomorrow. All yummy and healthy.

I’m taking the boys bowling this afternoon, then a nice, yet healthy, dinner (feel like I really earned the calories with this morning’s run, lol).

BBL

Good Saturday morning ladies!!

How many of you will be waking up to a white Easter? LOL!!

Shelly - How often do you do double workouts? I just can't seem to force myself to work out when I get home from work unless it's the foam roller. Once I'm finished in the mornings, that's it for me. Did you get the new CT? Hope you had a good run.

Jess - Hope Kiersten feels better and you have a safe trip to your mom's.

Wendy - Great job on upping your weights. I like to use more than the women do in those workouts too. Know you're looking forward to that recovery week. Glad your run went well.

Cathy - I feel that way about Tony too. His babbling doesn't bother me at all and I don't fast forward either. Did you do Iron Yoga?

Sunny - Hope you enjoyed the facial.

Judy - Glad the knee pain is gone. I think Sean (CC) is a little more laid back than Grace (iTread). Sean's voice is a little more soothing. I like Grace because she gives you a point of reference to start your workout instead of leaving it to me to decide. I think I work harder for her because I will try some of those higher speeds.

Carole - I'm glad I'm not the only one that prefers iTrain over CC. I do them both but I really think Grace and Keith or more motivating. Grace screams, well maybe not scream but high pitched, but that doesn't bother me. It just helps me get into gear. Enjoy your workout today. Is the running still going well and pain free?

Marcia - Glad your business is doing so well. You are one busy lady.

Susan - Glad you've enjoyed having your sister there. Thanks for the Karen Voight recommendation.

Christine - Really enjoyed the article about Tucker.

I did 8 miles outside. It was 25 degrees. I layered pretty good and it wasn't bad once my toes and hands warmed up. My hands were so cold at first that they started to hurt. Pulled them inside my sleeves and they warmed up. The sun was shining so that helped a lot. The wind picked up on the last 2 miles. Came back and did Cathe's stability ball stretch #2 plus a little extra. Legs feel good. It was a big difference from the first time I ran in the cold a month or so ago. Next Saturday will be my 5K.

Have a great Saturday!

Jackie

Gayle - Glad you got that 13 miles in regardless of how you do it. I know what you mean about using the iTreads for a steady state run. I had CC Press Play and I kept thinking to myself why am I using this instead of just music. I wasn't keeping up with it but at least it was long and I know where I may want to use it for future runs.

Enjoy your day with the boys!

Jackie

Gayle,
I am so IMPRESSED by your treadmill dedication. I don't think I could spend that much time on it. Thank goodness you have it home so you can always get it in. Enjoy your carrot cake;-)

Jackie, sounds like you are more than ready for you 5k. It will be a breeze for you. I love the stability ball stretch #2, it feels so good. Have a great day!

Susan

Afternoon, cheetahs :)

Judy :: sounds like you are still getting in great workouts even at a slower pace…Glad you resolved the issue with new inserts…I bought Chi Running yesterday and started to read it a bit last night.

Susan :: glad you’ve enjoyed your sister & fam’s visit…good to hear about another successful Lasik procedure!…I’m sure we will find a way to get all three of you to the hotel. When you guys know what kind of luggage you’re bringing, I’ll know whether or not I need to borrow “the boat.” :) No need for the shuttle.

Shelly :: how’d the double hilly loop go?

Marcia :: I hear you on the comfort foods…I’ve indulged a bit in the past couple of days. But I allow myself a little more leeway when PMS is on the scene.

Jackie :: great job on the 8 miles out in the cold!

Gayle :: mmm, carrot cake! YUM!

Carole :: yeah, my friends told me it was *very* clubby inside, so I’m glad I bagged out on it. That is just not my scene. Hope you had a great workout today.

Wendy :: good job sticking it out in the cold & wind!

I just finished Iron Yoga – couldn’t resist. I had a little bit of DOMS in the quads (from yesterday’s Plyo, I’m assuming), and I have a feeling I’m gonna be feeling it tomorrow. I like this one. The instructor is Anthony Carillo, a soft-spoken guy & Ironman triathlete…He’s fused simple yoga poses with light weight work for a 60-minute routine that is surprisingly challenging. I started out using 5 lb. weights but moved down to 3s. He has you do three slow reps for each exercise while you are in a pose. Much of it is balance work. So you may be in tree doing shoulder work, or balanced on one leg in warrior doing tris. This is nothing that would replace any of our regular weight workouts, but it’s a unique approach to yoga that works you in a different way. Though Anthony gives you reminders about breathing and keeping your core strong and legs active, there’s nothing about this that feels flighty or meditative as I know some of you appreciate more straightforward yoga. This is definitely what I would call athletic-style yoga.

OK, now here is a gripe for today: why is it that every time I fall in love with a hard-to-find product, it is soon thereafter discontinued? Finding good jeans for me is like searching for the Holy Grail – last fall, I finally found the perfect pair – the PoloSport Kelly jean – and sure enough, they are now defunct. And now, what I call “the granny bra” from VS is also on its way to extinction! DOH! It never fails!

I’m surprised it’s only 3 o’clock…somehow it feels later & I’m getting hungry! I think this calls for a protein shake.

If I don’t stop back, enjoy the rest of your Saturday!
Cathy :)

Hi there! Back from my run and feeling tired but good! I guess my training is going well. It was challenging to be sure but not as bad as I thought it would be:) I ran across my first Arizona diamondback of the season also (the rattlesnake, not the baseball player ;-) ) Well, I'm going to fight off the urge to nap now and go out on a motorcycle ride with DH.

Cathy- Thank you so much for your review of Iron Yoga. It definitely sounds like my kind of yoga! I hate that meditative stuff! It doesn't sync with my ADD personality ;-) I saw on your note to Judy that you bought Chi running. I'm quite a believer in this and really concentrated on the technique with todays run since it was so difficult. It really does make a difference!

Susan- great to hear from you and that you are doing so well with your back now! That must be some chiropracter! I think that's so great you'll be coming in on Thursday!!!! :7 :7 The room is all set and Cathy is just a total sweetheart for being willing to pick us up!!

Gayle- Cytomax is an electrolyte replacement/energy drink like Gatorade. It is the drink that Dean Karnaze, the ultra runner who did 50 marathons in 50 days, uses. It comes in pink lemonade flavor.... my favorite! Great job on the TM run today!!! Wow, you must be beat to have put an iTread workout in there   You definitely deserve to have a good relaxing rest of the day. Have fun bowling.... even though I totally stink at it I love bowling!
At least I provide comic relief for the people I bowl with;-)

Jackie- The sale on the crosstrainers I was looking for was overx(
Ah well, I can usually do a workout in the morning and evening about 5 days a week. Working 12 hr nights 3x a week gives me alot of flexibility. If I worked a standard 9-5 M-F schedule I doubt I could do this! I didn't realize you are racing next Sat!!!!
I bet you'll blow em away

tata for now

ShellyC

I dropped in again to report that *major* DOMS is setting in to the quads & glutes! Iron Yoga should not be underestimated!! :p Tomorrow could be interesting as my last w/out of the week is to be L&B + (maybe) a run.

Shelly :: A rattler??? Yikes!! Glad you have that good-tired feeling & hope you enjoyed your ride on the bike... I can imagine an ADD personality would not embrace yoga so easily! I don't practice as often as I know I should - mostly b/c of time constraints - but sometimes I just can't handle slow & quiet, either.

Hello ladies,
I am done with my workout and I did 40 minutes on the elliptical and then a 2.5 mile run and it felt great!!! I could have gone longer but I am trying to work my way up and not too fast so I do not have any more injuries.

I am now going to chow down on some veggie pizza with my relatives and then I am off to tv land. Have a great night ladies!

Shelly- I would freak if I saw a rattler. We have garter snakes here and THEY freak me out. I doubt the snake could catch you though}(

CAthy, enjoy your DOMS!

Susan
