Good Morning ladies,

ARGHHHHHHH, I awoke this morning hoping to feel completely better and i am still slightly congested and coughing. I truly feel like crying. I trained so hard for this race today and feel like i won't be able to do my best. Don't get me wrong, I am not in it to win it (i am too slow) but wanted to at least feel like i gave it my all. I am still going to go out there and give it my best shot. So i already have my eye on another 10k in sept and if all goes well (can't believe i am saying this) a half in Oct:D }( .

I will report back later.

cathy- i am with you on CM. i just could never get it together with that one.

jess- i am so excited to do P90x with a fellow cheetah. however do you think i could still do it if i am preparing for a half? i am thinking i could just sub tony's cardio for runs. what do you think?

Have a great saturday cheetahs....;)

Good morning, everyone! :)

Sunny :: sorry to hear you are still battling the cold...I can understand your disappointment that you won't be able to perform at 100%, but I give you a TON of credit for going ahead & running it, anyway. That is true cheetah style! Best of luck!! We'll be with ya in spirit. :)

I will be doing a 30 min. run + a Squeeze lower body mishmosh. Since the sun's not out and the humidity is down a bit, I don't feel a need to rush out the door. I'm enjoying lazing around a bit this morning.

Happy Saturday!
Cathy :)

Hey guys! Happy Saturday. Wonderful weather forecasted for the entire weekend, and that makes me happy. (it's the little things, you see, lol).

Cardio Coach Press Play. DONE! Logged over 7.25 miles!!! First CC workout EVER for me. Unbelievable. Just what I needed today...AWESOME way to start the day and weekend. BUT....I don't know if I like it better than the iTreads. lol iTread....Grace gives you specific numbers for specific levels, which I love because I can challenge myself with the higher numbers if I want. But I LOVE the music in this CC workout. I would have to call it a draw between the two. Either one....AWESOME workout!

We're headed out in 2 hours to go to DS's baseball tournament. We are coming home instead of staying the night, then tonight we have our annual neighborhood adult softball game followed by the usual pizza and pool party for the kids. This is ALWAYS a fun time each year and so glad I'm a part of it.

BBL, most likely tonight, just to check in, catch up and relax before bed.

Hey Ladies:) Haven't been around much, busy week to say the least! Everything is building up around my job change but I can't give notice yet as the gym is still under construction. I need to time it right as the concensus seems to be that when I tell the chiro who owns the clinic that I'm leaving, he will be pi$$ed and say 'just go', I'm dreading it, I don't do conflict well. Premiere has a 'Grand Opening' Tuesday and the club looks amazing. The CEO wrenched his back while in Kingston early this week and called me, it went very well, he was thrilled with the work and says they will 'keep me very busy and be very good to me' Here's a link, the Kingston Club will open soon...not soon enough :D

One of my dearest friends is visiting from Cairnes Australia, she was our babysitter when the kids were little but our relationship blossomed and when she married 5 years ago I was her matron of honour. She didn't have a great family life and we informallly adopted her, she was a saviour to us when John was sick, helping out in ways beyond her years. We've had a wonderful 3 days together but I have to take her to the train in about 15 minutes:( Fabulous timing for her visit though, she watched Elizabeth go off to kindergarten and was here for her High School Grad on Thursday. I've had too little sleep, not enough exercise (wired and tired:)) but it's been a wonderful, crazy week. After I get home from dropping Paula off, I'm planning to workout HARD}( , maybe IMAX3 and B-Max u/bx2.

I need to get back into my Cheetah groove! Thanks for asking about me Cathy:)

Take Care
Laurie

Sunny ~ I definitely think you could do the X while training for a half. How exciting!! I'd sub in the runs for Kenpo & then do doubles (if you can) like Tony recommends. Cardio first thing, weights later.

I hope you feel better. I ran my first half marathon w/ a sinus infection- NOT fun & not what I wanted but I did it. Have a great race & take some pics for us to see!!

G'morning Cheetahs! It's my rest day! It's been a little while since I've taken one! ;-) I'm going to head out shopping in a bit, Kohl's is having some good sales. I need another *gulp* swim suit, so I hope I can find one. I hate swim suit shopping! I still need to find a pair of jean shorts too, no luck last weekend!

My MIL is coming here for lunch & spending the day. We're doing a little bday party for Allison. She's so excited, she is calling today her *pretend* birthday.

OK, I've gotta shower & get out the door so I can get back home before my MIL! Have a great Saturday!

http://www.picturetrail.com/gallery/view?p=999&gid=16840032&uid=8948436&members=1 In case anyone missed it y'day, I posted some new pics! (Thanks for looking, Cathy! Too funny on trying to keep up w/ Wendy. Thanks to the X, right?? }( )

Good Morning Cheetahs.:)

Wow, it feels like ages since I've posted and it's only been since y'day afternoon! LOL

I ended up going to see "Knocked Up" last night with a friend of mine. OMG-freakin' HILARIOUS! :7 :7 :7 :7 :7 :7

Today is my rest day but I feel the urge to work out creepin' up on me! We'll see if I fight it or go with it. I SHOULD do yoga if I'm gonna do anything but it's a run that I'm in the mood for!}(

I am meeting my friend in the park at 8:30 tomorrow morning for our run. Hopefully it will be a bit cooler then it was last time and maybe we can "go the distance" this time. Speaking of going the distance...I think we are going to sign up for a 5 mile race in a couple of weeks. I know I wasn't into racing but the race with Cathy and Shelly got me going and now I want to do another one!}( I'm not into it enough to want to do it alone but if my friend wants to do it with me I'm in!:+ I now regret not meeting Shelly for the Sheehan. :-( Ah well...live and learn, right?

So I am home alone this morning! I slept until 9:30! OMG! I didn't get home until 2am and to bed around 3. DH and DS went up to his sister's to visit and packed a bag to stay overnight so here I am in a quiet house on a saturday morning. I actually wish I hadn't slept so late cause it's beatiful outside. It would have been a great morning to hit the streets. I hope tomorrow is nice too.

Okay, I'm done boring you with my incesant babble :7 ..... I'm going to make another cup o' java and ATTEMPT to catch up on the goings on around here since y'day and post personals!

Be Back in a jiff!;)

Gayle: Sounds like you have a great day planned for you and your kids. It's so nice that your community does so much together. Having neighbors you are really friendly with must be so nice.:)

Carole: I got my Barely There underwear at Kohl's. Do you have them out by you??

Amy: Your friend runs 6 days a week? Holy cow! What kind of distances does she do?? Losing 40 pounds is quite an accomplishment. Kudos to her! Have you introduced her to Cathe yet?}(

Shelly: I LOVE Grace! The Itreads are tough but so much more fun then just running to music! How did you survive your first night back to work?

Marcia: Haven't heard anything about your TS venture lately. How is that going??

Sunny: So sorry you aren't feeling well! I am cheering you on and know you'll still do great at your race today!

Cathy: So what do you think of new yoga dvd's after previewing them? I know education doesn't or lack thereof isn't the only thing that matters. I sometimes wonder where I'd be in life if I HAD finished college though....*sigh* Oh and you didn't FAIL in the "family" category! You are still young and obviously holding out for the guy you know you deserve! Good for you! I've never told anyone here this before but I am far from "happily married". It's not a total wreck of a marriage but should be LOTS better then what it is...:-( I do love my son to pieces though and cherish every moment I have with him!

Jess: I am still on the fence about the X. I am not sure if I want to commit to it this soon even though it's tempting. Committing to the Masters series isn't so bad! LOL I'll let you know though...:)

Jess :: enjoy the pretend bday party and time with MIL.

Wendy :: These DVDs are going to be a BIG departure from the kind of yoga I am used to. From just a brief preview, I'm thinkin' they're a little far out. *lol* I'll probably try one of them on Monday, so I'll let you know my true first impressions then...I am one of those who believe that you always wind up where you are meant to be...Maybe someday you will have an interest and opportunity to pursue higher ed again. Do you regret not finishing or do you just wonder about "the road not taken"?...Thanks for trusting us...I wouldn't say I'm holding out - maybe drying up. *lol* But I do have a fear of being alone.

OK, off to a matinee of Ratatouille. My back is really hurting today. I am calling the doc first thing on Monday.

Cathy: I wish I knew what I wanted to do when I first went to college. I was unsure and I think that put a big damper on my motivation to do the work! LOL At this point I have been out of school for so long that I don't think I could ever go back. Like I said, my p/t cert was hard enough to get myself through and I obvioulsy know what I want to do! It also wasn't even "real school"!:7
I hope your back feels better so that you don't have to see the doc come Monday. Enjoy Ratatouille! Let me know if you like it cause I want to see it!:)
You are not drying up. LOL You sound like my best friend. She got married at 25 and divorced after only I think 3 years of marriage. She's been single ever since (7 years or something like that) and gets down on occassion because she thinks she'll never find someone again. She also, though, appreciates the "freedoms" that come with being single so that kind of stops her from actively looking for Mr. Right. LOL If you want to settle down you will find him...I believe there is someone out there for everyone but you have to be patient and be open to it. You also have to be willing to possibly kiss alot of frogs to get to him! LOL

Good morning Cheetahs!

Cathy - Congratulations on getting that Masters! You rock!!

Sunny - Good luck with your race today! Sorry you're not feeling better but you have the right attitude of just doing your best. A half sounds like a good goal.

Jess - Glad to hear Kiersten is better. Yay for you and the chin ups! Great pics of you and the family. Thanks for sharing.

Gayle - It's just something about the iTrains that make me want to kick it into gear much more than CC. Coach Sean has this nice voice and all but sometimes I need that cheerleader in Grace to push me through. I still like them both.

Laurie - Good luck with giving notice to the chiro. You sound really excited about the new job. The gym looks great. Looks like one I would love to visit. I'm happy for you. Glad you enjoyed the time with your friend.

Wendy - Enjoy your rest day. Got the racing bug, huh? The races are so much fun once they're over. :7 I know you will do great with the 5 miles if you decide to do it.

I got in 8 miles this morning. I was out about 5:30 and it was about 71 degrees with a little breeze. Finished up with Cathe's Basic stretching. My Road Race Series begins on July 8 with the first 5K.

I have a wedding to attend at 1:00 today and then the reception is 30 minutes away. I'm still behind on things here at home. I'd better get moving.

Enjoy your Saturday ladies!

Jackie

Shelly - As promised, here are the only photos that I could find of the 5K last weekend. The first is DD in #6093. She has on red bottom and white top and a bandana. The second one is the only one of me. If you will look closely, you will see me with dark shorts and a white top and a knee brace on my right knee. Don't know what happened to the rest of the pics they were taking.

good morning,

I managed to get up around 6 am and went for a run with my SIL and her sister. we ran 4.5 miles and I was happy that my shin splints allowed me to do so. Thats the good thing about being in therapy, as soon as I feel something coming on I work on it right away and have been able to limit the amount of recovery time. Light therapy is great. with both of my issues that I have had it has really helped me. I am happy to report that the first floor on my house is up. they dont have the internal walls up but the outside walls are up and they will finish monday or tuesday. Its exciting to watch the progress of something that I have dreamed of for years. I always told my DH that one of these days we would build our own home and he said yeah right. well I told him ,see I told you we would do it. I guess you just have to believe and have patience. God has been good to me and I cant complain of anything. sorry to get mushy and all . anyway , have a great day!

So here I sit on a beautiful day, free to do whatever the heck I want but I am sitting at the computer having a fight via text messages with my DH! I'm such a loser!!!! x(

Happy Saturday Cheetah's!

Today I was up again and ran 3 miles (same as yesterday) at a local track.

I feel great! I am going to do 4 days of running now, instead of 3. I would really like to get to 5! :) I know I could do it, I just don't want to hurt myself.

Wendy - Yes, my friend Christine runs 6 times a week, about 3-5 miles a day and lost 40 pounds! She is addicted she says, as we all are. :) She loves it and she also does some road races. I told her that this fall we will do some fundraiser road races together. I have a running buddy for this!

Jess - Your family is so darn cute! I love children (am a teacher), and I can't wait to start a family some day with DH!

Gail - Sorry if I missed this from another post, but did you have that talk with your fiance? I hope you are ok!

One more question, and I am so sorry for this, since I am new to Cathe this past year, and I am not sure ----- but what is P90X? You ladies talk about it, but I have no idea what it is? Does it have to do with any of Cathe's workouts? Sorry if I seem clueless!

Have a great weekend ladies! Tomorrow I am going light - Cathe's Low Impact Step (which I love!!!!) and Weights.

Take care! :)

Forgot to add this!!!!!!!

Went for a great bike ride today with DH. Weather in Boston is fabulous this weekend! Humidity gone!

Wendy - saw Knocked Up in the theater also a few weeks ago. It was funny and cute!

Gayle - Just read your other post The Break Up, and I am sorry you are sad. :(
Thinking of you!

Bye ladies!

Wendy :: I was an undecided major for the first two years of college…I thought I wanted to be a writer in some capacity but wasn’t sure exactly…I loved my major…my last year or two of college, I took a second PT job at a YMCA elementary after-school program…over time, I realized how much I enjoyed working with kids. The principal, some of the parents, and teachers in the building would ask me, “Why aren’t you in education?”…But I felt it was too late to change gears… I then did an internship in the marketing department of a university, and I realized how stagnant it felt to work in an office. I couldn’t stand it…So I graduated, thinking I’d try to obtain teaching certification through the alternate route and see what panned out …I went on two or three interviews, but the school districts always asked about my teaching experience (I had none)…This led me back to school to complete the post-bac credits necessary for licensure. I *should* have enrolled in a Master’s program right away, but the uninformed folks at the university told me I had to have teaching experience prior to admission. In the meantime, I’d started working PT for a local politician…it became a FT gig and I started taking classes PT…at the end of the coursework, I had to quit my job and student teach and it was scary as HELL, not knowing if I’d succeed or fall flat on my face…it was a leap of faith but I do think when you follow your heart, most times you land on your feet. And I’m grateful for the detour into politics because I learned so much about state government and left with some terrific friendships…Going back to college is a lot harder for non-traditional students, but it can be done, and I think it makes the degree so much more valuable. I busted my A** to juggle full-time work with my classes, and so I have a greater appreciation for it, I think…And hey, your program is absolutely real!… Ratatouille was adorable – sweet message and some good hearty chuckles…That is true – there *are* freedoms that go along with being single…but there’s an aspect of it that sucks…I don’t date often, to tell you the truth – I just don’t have the opportunity to meet guys that often. I’m in a female-dominated profession…The last thing I had cookin’ was in the fall and that fizzled out before it had really even gotten started…he was damaged goods. It’s not easy. But then again, I should probably approach it the way I go after other things I want to achieve or acquire instead of waiting for HIM to just land on my doorstep. I tried online dating earlier this winter but I didn’t care for it…All right, now I’m rambling…this is the longest personal I’ve ever posted…stop me now before I get a cramp in my fingers. *lol*

Jackie :: thank you ~ hope you have a great time at the wedding!…thanks for sharing the pics. DD is gorgeous! And you look like her sister, not her mother! WOW!

I really should get outside. It's gorgeous. And I haven't worked out yet...I feel really lazy.

Amy :: P90X is an "extreme" 90-day fitness program led by instructor Tony Horton. It is designed for the advanced exerciser who wants to take his/her fitness to the next level. Many of us here have it and have seen great results (see Wendy and Jess's picture trails!) The workouts (there are 12 in the series) are put out by BeachBody (www.beachbody.com).

OK, I just realized I was quoting an actress from Dallas --NOT the runner Joan Samuelson in my new signature. Gotta change that!! *lol*

"I always loved running...You could go in any direction, fast or slow as you wanted, fighting the wind if you felt like it, seeking out new sights just on the strength of your feet and the courage of your lungs."
