Judy :: Good job running in the 18 degree weather and snow! That sounds like a challenge. I’ve run only a few times after it’s snowed. It’s treacherous stuff for someone who’s a klutz on dry land! Thanks on the high fives.
Wendy :: sorry to hear you feel like crud…hope today’s a little better. Don’t feel bad if you have to take another rest day. Even just a cold sometimes can knock you out pretty hard, so it’s best to listen to your body. Sounds like you’ve made a good dent in your Christmas shopping. BTW, just peeked at the updated pics of Joey…he & those little dimples! Adorable. I did wind up at a happy hour last night but not at Champps. Ever hear of the Krazy Kat? Its name should tell you everything you need to know.
Laura :: hope you enjoyed your rest day and finished up your shopping. Thanks for your perspective on the advantages of flying solo – you have a point there. I know your comment was directed to Laurie, but I’m appreciating it, too!
I think we singletons have to remind ourselves of that sometimes. Fingers crossed that your company doesn’t lose its contract!
Carole :: funny, I just received a letter from my insurance yesterday that says they will agree to cover Retin-A for one year. What jerks.
Elaine :: that sometimes happens to me when I don’t do my workouts in the morning. Before teaching, I *always* ran/lifted in the mornings…it made the whole one-shower-a-day thing simple, too…But now it doesn’t work out that way with my schedule most days, so I’m all over the place in terms of WHEN I work out. Sometimes things do crop up…I just try to be flexible and do what I can. I completely agree that I never would’ve expected myself to find friends on the internet, but that is what I consider you cheetahs.
Thanks so much for the compliment re teachers. Here in Jersey some of the talk radio stations are on a teacher-bashing kick right now because our union opposes some of the proposed changes to our pension program, etc. Sometimes it feels like a thankless job…so thanks for the boost. I had a good chuckle about your laying-around-in-sweats-until-right-before-DH-gets-home-and-then-look-busy plan.
Laurie :: ugh. I groaned out loud when I read about Glen gettin' goofy on you…I’m sorry to hear it…It sounded to me like he likes you…but I get the impression that either he just said something stupid without thinking OR maybe his feet got cold…I think guys who reach a certain age without having anyone to answer to tend to get set in their ways, and they freak out at the prospect of someone coming along and changing their routine. Still, I think you might hear from him again…If so, would you give him another chance? Somehow, I suspect he is beating himself up over his comments. That *was* fast delivery for the card…I have relatives in Germany and in the past few years, I have lost almost all faith in our USPS ability to get mail & packages somewhere on time! Sorry about the flat. How’s Faith doing? How’d she wind up with a swollen eye? Cracked up about the vanity vs. endorphins...man, you are not making this easy! *lol* I do want to run but I'd also love to milk two days out of this "salon hair." It's not like I have anywhere to go tonight...lol
Colleen :: I lost it when I read about not being able to see anyone’s faces but feeling the “good for you” vibes through their face masks and mufflers. Too funny! And 7 degrees! Too crazy! You win the prize for being the toughest cheetah! Try typing your responses in a Word document and just switching between the windows. That is the only way I can type personals to everybody in one shot.
Susan :: I am glad you are going to IL for Christmas…what a wonderful gift to your mom, your children, and yourself…I’m sure you’ll savor every moment together. I’m also glad to hear she is doing OK with the chemo…Will keep your family in thoughts & prayers.
Shelly :: thanks for the card...yours is the first cheetah card I received. Put a big smile on my face.
Jess :: I am more of a jeans and sweater girl, too…I love Fridays at my new school b/c we are allowed to wear jeans. Speaking of sweaters, I splurged on myself AGAIN y’day afternoon at J. Crew – three new sweaters. I have to say, I don’t feel as guilty when I buy myself clothes anymore because I have lost about 30 lbs in the past year, so with each season, I have HAD to buy some new pieces. Besides, I stuck with wool and avoided the temptation of the cashmere sweaters.
Glad you had fun doing your shopping solo. I do have The Stick, and I like it a lot, but it sounds like you’ve had success with the foam roller.
Christine :: hey, you scored some great deals! WTG! I love Amazon…I also did a bit of my shopping on there. I’m the same with B&G spanking me harder than GS Legs.
OK, I think that's everyone who posted. I have to run out in a bit...I need to pick up ski socks (I only have 1 pair but will be out in Colorado for four days during Christmas break, so I need more...at $20 a pop, grrr!)...then I'm coming back here & chaining myself to my desk to grade 100 essays. Oh joy. If I'm still conscious at that point, I *may* attempt to write my final two papers (hallelujah) for my classes. OR I may head out for a run. I'm really on the bubble. If hair wins out, I probably have to resign as a card-carrying member of the cheetah crew, don't I? ha ha
OK, everyone, have a great Saturday...have fun shopping, resting, working out, or whatever it is that's on your agenda today!
Cathy
