Cathlete
Good morning, cheetahs~

Just getting this started...Am debating whether or not to run today...had intended to but now I'm hesitant to mess up my hair...how dumb is that? *lol* OK, let me go catch up with yesterday's posts & I'll be back.

~Cathy :)

Good Morning, I'm swilling coffee then off to do the step premix from B-Max2 (my new favourite). I'm working at the spa this morning then it's home for full tilt Christmas decorating. I've got 18 people coming for dinner next Saturday so I need to keep organized this week.

Cathy, you are too funny!!! I sooooo get that, my hair is never the same 2 days in a row and I completely appreciate good hair days. You have to let us know if you run or not, I for one will be wondering which one wins, vanity or the need for endorphins:+ :7

Okay, I'll be back later to see what you lovely Cheetahs have been up to! HAPPY SATURDAY!!

Take Care
Laurie:)

Judy :: Good job running in the 18 degree weather and snow! That sounds like a challenge. I’ve run only a few times after it’s snowed. It’s treacherous stuff for someone who’s a klutz on dry land! Thanks on the high fives.

Wendy :: sorry to hear you feel like crud…hope today’s a little better. Don’t feel bad if you have to take another rest day. Even just a cold sometimes can knock you out pretty hard, so it’s best to listen to your body. Sounds like you’ve made a good dent in your Christmas shopping. BTW, just peeked at the updated pics of Joey…he & those little dimples! Adorable. I did wind up at a happy hour last night but not at Champps. Ever hear of the Krazy Kat? Its name should tell you everything you need to know.

Laura :: hope you enjoyed your rest day and finished up your shopping. Thanks for your perspective on the advantages of flying solo – you have a point there. I know your comment was directed to Laurie, but I’m appreciating it, too! :) I think we singletons have to remind ourselves of that sometimes. Fingers crossed that your company doesn’t lose its contract!

Carole :: funny, I just received a letter from my insurance yesterday that says they will agree to cover Retin-A for one year. What jerks.

Elaine :: that sometimes happens to me when I don’t do my workouts in the morning. Before teaching, I *always* ran/lifted in the mornings…it made the whole one-shower-a-day thing simple, too…But now it doesn’t work out that way with my schedule most days, so I’m all over the place in terms of WHEN I work out. Sometimes things do crop up…I just try to be flexible and do what I can. I completely agree that I never would’ve expected myself to find friends on the internet, but that is what I consider you cheetahs. :) Thanks so much for the compliment re teachers. Here in Jersey some of the talk radio stations are on a teacher-bashing kick right now because our union opposes some of the proposed changes to our pension program, etc. Sometimes it feels like a thankless job…so thanks for the boost. I had a good chuckle about your laying-around-in-sweats-until-right-before-DH-gets-home-and-then-look-busy plan.

Laurie :: ugh. I groaned out loud when I read about Glen gettin' goofy on you…I’m sorry to hear it…It sounded to me like he likes you…but I get the impression that either he just said something stupid without thinking OR maybe his feet got cold…I think guys who reach a certain age without having anyone to answer to tend to get set in their ways, and they freak out at the prospect of someone coming along and changing their routine. Still, I think you might hear from him again…If so, would you give him another chance? Somehow, I suspect he is beating himself up over his comments. That *was* fast delivery for the card…I have relatives in Germany and in the past few years, I have lost almost all faith in our USPS ability to get mail & packages somewhere on time! Sorry about the flat. How’s Faith doing? How’d she wind up with a swollen eye? Cracked up about the vanity vs. endorphins...man, you are not making this easy! *lol* I do want to run but I'd also love to milk two days out of this "salon hair." It's not like I have anywhere to go tonight...lol

Colleen :: I lost it when I read about not being able to see anyone’s faces but feeling the “good for you” vibes through their face masks and mufflers. Too funny! And 7 degrees! Too crazy! You win the prize for being the toughest cheetah! Try typing your responses in a Word document and just switching between the windows. That is the only way I can type personals to everybody in one shot.

Susan :: I am glad you are going to IL for Christmas…what a wonderful gift to your mom, your children, and yourself…I’m sure you’ll savor every moment together. I’m also glad to hear she is doing OK with the chemo…Will keep your family in thoughts & prayers.

Shelly :: thanks for the card...yours is the first cheetah card I received. Put a big smile on my face. :)

Jess :: I am more of a jeans and sweater girl, too…I love Fridays at my new school b/c we are allowed to wear jeans. Speaking of sweaters, I splurged on myself AGAIN y’day afternoon at J. Crew – three new sweaters. I have to say, I don’t feel as guilty when I buy myself clothes anymore because I have lost about 30 lbs in the past year, so with each season, I have HAD to buy some new pieces. Besides, I stuck with wool and avoided the temptation of the cashmere sweaters. :) Glad you had fun doing your shopping solo. I do have The Stick, and I like it a lot, but it sounds like you’ve had success with the foam roller.

Christine :: hey, you scored some great deals! WTG! I love Amazon…I also did a bit of my shopping on there. I’m the same with B&G spanking me harder than GS Legs.

OK, I think that's everyone who posted. I have to run out in a bit...I need to pick up ski socks (I only have 1 pair but will be out in Colorado for four days during Christmas break, so I need more...at $20 a pop, grrr!)...then I'm coming back here & chaining myself to my desk to grade 100 essays. Oh joy. If I'm still conscious at that point, I *may* attempt to write my final two papers (hallelujah) for my classes. OR I may head out for a run. I'm really on the bubble. If hair wins out, I probably have to resign as a card-carrying member of the cheetah crew, don't I? ha ha

OK, everyone, have a great Saturday...have fun shopping, resting, working out, or whatever it is that's on your agenda today!

Cathy :)

Edited by an English teacher who's apparently so anal I could not allow myself to have an inappropriate apostrophe in the word "its"...ARRGGHHH!!!

G'morning Cheetahs! I got up & did BM2- Cardio blast. I hadn't done that premix before, but I liked it! I laugh every time I hear the song Jessie's Girl, I can just hear my sisters singing it to me over & over!! ;-)

I had a wonderful time at the ladies Christmas party last night. Tons of good food, but I stuck to the healthy stuff (and a few choc. covered strawberries, YUM!). Of course had the comments of *well that's why you're so skinny, blah blah blah*. Yeah, and I work my tail off!! (but I didn't say that, just smile & nod...)

Greg & the girls had a great time shopping for my presents. The girls ALL told me that it was a secret & they wouldn't tell me no matter what!! ;-) He took them to Kohl's & to Kmart (we needed more Christmas lights!). And then to Dairy Queen for ice cream, and then he said they told him he was the best Daddy in the whole world. Melted a Daddy's heart for sure! (and he is an awesome Daddy!)

We're finally going to cut down our tree today!!! We always go to a local tree farm & pick out the *perfect* tree. The kids love it & it's our tradition. Then we'll get the deco out & get to decorating!!

OK, gotta go get breakfast & take a shower!! Have a great Saturday!

Hey Laurie! I did BM2 this morning too, cardio blast! It was fun. Sounds like you're busy as usual! I'm sure dinner will be wonderful. I love staying organized too, I don't deal well with chaos!!

Oh, and you need to post a pic of your new hair do!! I'm one of those who manages to get mine cut about every 6 mos or so & then no one notices since it's so long & curly! But I can't go short or it's TERRIBLE!! (Little Orphan Annie comes to mind...)

Hey Cathy!! I had to LOL @ the hair dilemma!! My hair just has a mind of it's own so I just let it do what it wants!! ;-) Most of the time around here it's in a pony tail or clip anyway! I do like the wrap head bands now too, they make it easy to manage.

Great job on the weight loss!! I went through the whole new wardrobe thing about 2-3 years ago. I went from a L/XL top (40DD+- yikes! to a S (34C) so that was a BIG change. And a size 12/14 jeans to about a size 4/6. It was sooo funny going through my clothes & seeing how they just fell off!! Now my Mom's going through the size changes too & she's so excited! Enjoy your new sweaters! I got a new sweater at Kohl's that I wore y'day ($12 on sale! Woohoo!).

Skiing sounds so fun! I've only been once, when Greg & I were first married & I was on my butt more than on my feet!!! He & my brother Scot are good skiiers so they had a blast skiing together!

Anyway, have a great Saturday!

Good Morning Everyone.

Sick Cheetah here reporting for duty. :p I do feel a bit better today atleast. I know that because I am considering doing some kind of work out today. }( I am about climbing the walls after 2 days of rest and bad eating! *GASP!!!*

Laurie: I'm sorry that things didn't work out with that guy you were seeing. There a lots of fish in the sea. As long as you keep your pole in the water I am sure that you will catch one!;) Have fun decorating today and God bless you for inviting 18 people for dinner next week! LOL

Cathy: Krazy Kats I have never heard of but would surely enjoy it!}( Don't worry, we won't make you hand over your Cheetah card. We'll just put you on "suspended" status until you straighten out your act! :p LOL I got your card the other day, BTW. :)

Jess: Sounds like Greg and the girls had a blast shopping together. That's so sweet! Glad you had a good time at the Christmas party. That must have been really nice for you to get out on your own and do some socializing. :) Enjoy the day with your family today!

Joey is at his nanny's house as planned. I fought with myself over taking him there y'day because I thought he might not feel well. He has a stuffy/runny nose and was UBER cranky y'day but no fever or anything. We called SIL and asked her if she would rather we held off until today and she still wanted him. He was happy once he got in the car and was more than willing to be left at SIL's so I no longer feel bad. We left her with medicine just incase though...Tonight is the Christmas party for my DH's company. His fever is gone and I am apparently on the mend so we intend to go. I hope it's fun.

Well, I'm off to make myself another cup of coffee and possibly find some food. I hope to be back later now that I am feeling a bit more human. ;)

Hey I'm back for a quick sec...

Shelly: I got your Christmas card y'day and had to laugh! I LOVED the picture on the front! Where did you find them!?! :+

Good morning Cheetahs! I'm passing the time here waiting for my DH to come back after his 10 mile run and then it's MY TURN!!! Whoo hoo!! I have done *nothing* in the way of working out for 5 days in a row and am now soooo ready to go run! I'm thinking 4 miles for today....

Wendy, I am happy to hear that you and DH are feeling better today. After someone mentioned looking at Joey's latest pictures I went to take a look for myself! OMG! He is so cute! My favorite picture is the one where he is sitting in his highchair....6th one down from the top picture. In earlier pictures I used to think that he looked more like your DH but in this latest batch he looks just like you.

Cathy, I had all my hair chopped off way short in the summer but am growing it back now so I have perpetual bad hair days. If I ever have a good hair day again I might be tempted to skip a run just to enjoy it! Aaaaaah... I've always worried a little bit about how my spelling, punctuation and composition must look to you:+ I was thinking about you the other day and how you buy yourself gifts. My thoughts were that being able to do that so often is one of the good things about being single and then I started imagining what I would buy for myself if I were unattached and employed!:7 I think I'd be broke for sure.

Jess, I just love the descriptions of your family and the goings on with you all! Makes me think of the Waltons:) Have fun getting your Christmas tree. We have had a fake one for the last 7 years or so. My mil gave it to us and my DH is Mr. Econimcal so I wouldn't doubt it if I was told that he figured out the exact day that we broke even by using that thing. :) :) :)

Laurie, You're cooking dinner for 18 people?   . I remember the Thanksgiving when my DD was 2 months old and I somehow ended up cooking dinner for 15 people. That almost killed me! I am happy that you have a job you love to go to! Have fun decorating. I need to get some of that done around here myself.

Talk to you all later!

*Crawls into thread* Oh, ow! That was really stupid! Met DH at a local, much frequented, restaurant for happy hour and ended up with the bottomless glass of wine again. Ya think I would learn! A friend of ours was talking about his ex-father-in-law (he really admired the man) who is going to pass on at any minute, so I lent the prerequisite ear as he rambled, and did not pay attention to how quickly the wine glass was being refilled. Then after making sure I was soundly pickled, we went to Amber, our favorite Indian restaurant. Amber is under new management and the quality of the food has gone down hill. Cheap Indian spices are guaranteed to bloat me beyond belief. Well, these went one step further (probably the combination of the pickling and the spices) and I spent the night on the john (fortunately, not bent over it, but, still not the best way to spend the night). So needless to say this morning I am not at my finest. I am hoping to get in GS Shoulders, and then use the elliptical at the gym (may end up on the recumbent if that’s all my body can handle). We’ll see what DH thinks. Then it’s swing by to pick up a ski jacket for DD17 (Christmas), then grocery shopping. Wish me luck…

Cathy - I so totally understand. Good hair days are a precious commodity, and really good hair days require plaques and mementos! And we need good English Teachers! I, for one, appreciate your analness… And I got your card yesterday - thanks! Congrats on the weight loss!! That’s great!

Laurie - I love BMax 2- it’s so fun! It’s my favorite of the 5, too. I like what B&G does, but the fun factor is just not there (well except the firewalkers - they make me smile). And don’t take it too hard about this guy - after so many years off, the old dating radar is off. You’ll fine tune it and get yourself the good one you deserve.

Jess - I, too, spend more time on my butt than my feet when I ski, so I let the family ski and the dogs and I go snowshoeing. I like it better any way! Have fun with the tree - love the tradition!

Wendy - hope you’re feeling better soon!! Especially in time for the Christmas party. Good luck with the workout, and I love the avatar! Joey is sooo cute! That grin is priceless!

Elaine - oh enjoy your run!! It’s tempting to get a nice artificial tree- I’m the only who picks it out any more - fortunately DD13 helped decorate it. I’m also the one who crawls under it every morning to water it. So, you’re growing your hair? It looked super cute short. But I’m sure it looks just as cute long. Wish I could wear my hair short, but at 5’10 and fairly muscular, I look too masculine with short hair.

Shelly - I, too, got your card and laughed hysterically! GREAT card! Thanks!!!

Good Afternoon!

Christine: I just got your Christmas card!:) Sorry you are feeling badly this morning. I have had bottomless glasses of all types of alcohol in the past and it never seems worth it the next morning. LOL Feel better soon. (((HUGS)))

Elaine: Thanks re: Joey! I have no idea how my son got so dang cute! I personally don't think his dad or myself are even close to that cute!:p

Well, I did my work out and feel sooo much better for it! I opted for the GSBA&B timesaver and I lowered my weights on a lot of the exercises but I still got a decent burn. I considered going to the gym afterwards to hit the elliptical as I decided a run would be too much today. Well, I didn't feel like taking the extra time for the gym since I have to be ready to leave for the party before 5:30pm and have other things to do as well so I decided on CardioX. I enjoyed the work out alot. That is the only work out besides abripperx that I have done from the p90x program so far. I hadn't even had the chance to preview it yet so it was a surprise work out which was kinda cool. LOL I was sweatin' like a pig! Alot of folks say they don't find it intense enough...I don't know if it's cause I'm worn down from my cold or maybe I'm just a wuss, but I found it quite intense! :p

Okay, well it's off to the showers with me and then on to the 1001 things I want to get done before we go out tonight!

Ciao Bellas!:*

Pssst! Here kitties, kitties! Where are you? ;)

I just finished cleaning my kitchen and decided to sit down with a cup of coffee for a few. I was hoping someone would have popped in by now but I guess everyone is busy with the holiday crazies as well as life in general. With DS not here, I feel like I have more time than I know what to do with! LOL

Oh well...I'll be back later!

Good morning cheetahs,
I have 5000 things to do today, but I have time for a quick check-in.

I am going to go the gym and do the elliptical and them some ab work and later on upper body.

I just finished all of my xmas cards and I still have some shopping to do. It never ends!

Jess, I e-mailed you:)

I will be back later for more personals.

Susan

I am avoiding going out shopping now, I need to get baking for next week. I'm always amazed that I'll consume more butter in the next four weeks than in the rest of the year! It's so bad but it's sooooo good}(

Cathy, sounds like a full day for you. Skiing in Colorado will be awesome, I love to ski but the biggest hills I've skiied on are in the Eastern Townships of Quebec (close to Vermont). Mountain skiing is something I look forward to in the future. I'm so completely on the fence about how I would feel if Glen did call. I really don't want to play cat and mouse, it sucks that this stuff never gets easier as we get older. I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know him over the past 5 months I guess I should have just left it at that, he sees one of the chiros at our office so I know I will see him, I just don't want it to be (nor does it need to be) awkward. Good luck with your 100 essays, I'm sure the first 10 and the last 10 aren't so bad but that middle part must get brutal at times. Congrats on your 30lb weight loss this year!!!

Jess, I'll have one of my daughters' take a picture and post it, I should have done it when it was salon styled, I can never do what they do! All that I'm making for the dinner next week I can do ahead of time. My SIL is bringing Beef Stroganoff, I'll make a double batch of Coq au vin and a chick pea stew. I love dishes that taste better on day 2, I just gotta figure out how we'll sit everyone so that we can be together for dinner. There won't be a lot of elbow room but I am okay with that!

Wendy, glad you felt good enough to get a workout in!! I'm kind of disappointed that I don't have any dressy Christmas parties to go to this year. LOL at your 'pole in the water' comment. Too True, that's where my biggest problem is, I was restless and out clubbing from the time I was 16 to 26, the walls stopped closing in on me just before I got pregnant with Elizabeth. Getting out there again appeals to me not at all. I love being a Cheetah but would hate to be considered a Cougar }( :+

Elaine, I hope your run was a good one!! I think it's wonderful that your DH loves to run as well, it's such a positive thing to share. It's been 13 years since I've cooked for so many people, I got smarter though, last time it was a 27lb. turkey with all of the trimmings, stressed me out to no end. I realised then that I get way to emotionally involved with turkey, I'd rather cook 6 chickens than 1 turkey:+ I'm starting to doubt if I'll get my decorating done today. Maybe I need an eject button on this computer chair:p

Christine, I feel for you honey, I love my wine too (and beer, and tequila....) but there's a fine line for me and I'm still known to cross it on occaision, (it's hard to see the line when the vision is blurred;-) ) There should be comfort in knowing that your drinking was altruistic, your friend obviously needed to bend your ear. You are so understanding and supportive to us here, I'm sure he feels his load is lighter after his time with you.

Susan, sounds like another busy Cheetah running around on Saturday. You are so right, it never does end. Hope your workout is a good stress reliever.

Okay I'm outta here:)

Take Care
Laurie

I DID enjoy my run!!! 4 miles with an average 8:40 pace makes me *so* happy because it's 6 days after I ran a marathon, after 5 days of eating crap and three days before I turn 47!! Did you get that??? My birthday is on Tuesday!!

Hey Cheetahs! I'm workin' on your Christmas Cards today so you all should get one in the mail this coming week!:+

Cheetahs,
Good hair day won out. (For what? I don’t know because I have been home most of the day and not going anywhere. And guess what? Even worse, I’ve not done a LICK of schoolwork. I don't know where the day has gone. I took a two-hour nap and have been catching up with holiday cards, letters, and emails. Very lazy day! I am hands-down the Sloth Cheetah.)

Jess :: I smiled at the thought of you guys cutting down your own tree. Immediately my thoughts went to Clark Griswold… :) Thanks…I still have some to lose, but I *have* enjoyed fitting into my old things and buying new. WTG on the Kohl’s sweater…I should’ve gone THERE instead of J. Crew (I often find great steals @ Kohl’s, too) but that place can be a madhouse. I won’t go near it right now! I just started skiing last January, so by all means, I’m a novice who wipes out a lot – but it’s so fun!!

Wendy :: I think you *would* enjoy the Krazy Kat. It’s too bad we don’t live closer to one another…Anyway, let’s just say the clientele makes for an interesting evening. Glad you’re feeling a little better. Great job on getting in a workout despite the bug. Have fun @ the party!!

Elaine :: please do not worry about spelling & punctuation around me…the only thing that really grates on me is when someone uses NO punctuation whatsoever…You see that on the internet in various places, and it’s just impossible to read…I do not normally indulge myself as much as I have in recent months…I feel kinda selfish when I do… but on the other hand, I guess it *is* a perk of being single and having no kids. Who else is going to spoil me?

Christine :: I got your card today…thanks!…It’s so cute. Sorry to hear about the hangover, but your post (as always) cracked me up. You tell a helluva story! :) Hope you managed to get in your workout + the planned shopping.

Susan :: Hey, busy cheetah, hope you had a good elliptical & abs workout! WTG on fitting it in despite the hectic pace.

Laurie :: my friends and I would like to come skiing up there someday. Most likely, we will do Vermont a few times in the new year. I love Okemo. It’s funny that you say that about how this dating thing doesn’t get any easier with age. I was just thinking the same thing the other day – for some reason, I’d kinda hoped that the games would be less than they were when I was in my 20s. Foolish, I know. But hey, at least we are back in the mix and putting ourselves out there. Hey, you like beer and tequila also…now if WE lived near each other, I think we could have some deadly girls’ night out patrolling for trolls! *lol* BTW, I busted a gut about needing an eject button on your computer chair. You cheetahs are too funny – I’m truly always cracking up when I read these posts.

Elaine :: AWESOME 4-miler! Great job! Your post made me curious about the ages of the cheetahs...I will be 33 this spring (I sure don't *feel* almost 33!)...what about the rest of you?

Hi to anyone else who checks in!

-Cathy :)

Hi Cheetahs...

Got your card 1st Christine....very cute!! I showed DH and he said why the Super Cheetah?....

Laurie..I am truly sorry about Glen...:(...

Elaine....geeze...8:40....in my dreams...

Cathy...47 here...:)

I hope to catch up later with the rest of you. I had an unscheduled rest day. When I got home from church I had a call and found out my hairdresser's (who is a very good friend too and we work together) father had passed away last night. I kinda thought it was coming. It is her last parent as her Mom passed away 3 years ago. This finality of having no parents has got to be devastating. I know it'll happen to all of us, but it just bummed me out today. Such an awful time of year. So I cleaned house instead of working out! I just have memories of my own Fathers passing. I know tomorrow I will feel better and even in the rain, I will look forward to my long run. I am glad to be able to vent here...:)

I have yet to grade a single paper or write any of my own -- ugh, I'm the worst! :p -- but I did do some internet surfing & collected some ideas for a lesson plan to use this week when I'm getting observed. I'll at least put my weekly plans together tonight & will probably leave the rest of the workload til tomorrow. My plan is to get an early start. I think it's the winter weather that's making me a bum.

Carole :: I'm sorry to hear about your friend's father and the difficult memories it brought back for you. I'm lucky to still have my parents around, but the thought of them not being there someday terrifies me...I do my best not to think about it. I know it's healthy to give in to the feelings of loss from time to time, but I hope you can focus on some happy memories while you're out on your run tomorrow. I know you were close to your dad and I'll just bet you had lots of laughs together.

OK, now I'm gonna go become a lesson-plan-writing machine. I swear. }(

-cathy

Thanks Cathy....I so treasure you cheetahs...:)...Of course we will never think about this kind of thing. I do let myself grieve when things hit close to home like this. But...thinking of my Dad will always make me smile. His sense of humor was something he left in me. And those memories are always alive in your heart...:)
