Cathlete
Morning, ladies! :) :) :)

Slow day for cheetah posts yesterday, so only a few personals to catch up with:

Christine :: I will have to look up TT on YouTube -- thanks for that tip...I'd never heard of Moreno before. I wound up NOT having any oblique DOMS from the workout. Will see what the rest of the DVD is like. Mmm on the chocolate hazelnut mousse! Bet you burned that right off.

Dallas :: oh, oops! Now that you mention it, I do remember you talking about DH's birthday not too long ago. Glad everyone enjoyed the celebration...I would just put a Band-Aid on your blister. Last time I had them, I used some special blister pad for "active wear" on one of them, and that fell off before the generic Band-Aid did! *lol* Today's run is 9.

Gloria :: I would recommend CIA 2604: Double Cardio. It has two workouts on it (a non-BOSU workout with Sharon Twombly that I'll admit I've never tried) and BOSU Blast with Seasun Zieger. It's a good BOSU workout with a KILLER abs section. I would skip Core Max, to tell you the truth. Rarely reach for that one. The Gym Styles are good. For legs, I would go with that or maybe the Pyramids. Leaner Legs is, IMO, the toughest leg workout she has, but it's on CTX...I wear my running shoes for running only -- I don't even just kick around in them. I use cross-trainers (Asics) for kickboxing, lifting, or aerobics...I'm laughing about your not being able to handle the rude customers because that is one reason I'm steering away from a PT retail position. Don't know if I could handle that again. I was a legislative aide aka jack-of-all-trades doing everything from constituent work to press releases to meetings/events to answering the phones to research to coordinating his schedule. It was a very interesting job for 5-6 years of my life.

Jackie :: Great run yesterday...how was the reunion?

Today's run will be 9 miles. Got some serious upper body DOMS from yesterday. Little bit of glute & calf DOMS.

Have a wonderful Sunday!

"Do you want to feel my spatula?" Run, Fat Boy, Run

Good morning ladies,

Yesterday me and my sis and her bf went to the gym and did UB (i first did KPC). I have some serious DOMS in my entire UB from our workout.

today we are going to the track to run the stairs and right after heading to the gym to beat up our legs}( . i don't want to do to much damage as i really want to run tomorrow.

cathy- enjoy your long run today! so will you sign up for another session of BC once this one ends?

jackie- thanks! so how are you enjoying your new workout room??!!

shelly- honestly i couldn't be more happy with this program.

kath- are you following any particular program? or do you mainly make up your own workouts?

TTYL:)

Hey Sunny! Mmmph, you guys are puttin' in some seriously hardcore sessions. I will definitely do this BC class again. I think it'll be offered again in the fall. I may also purchase some one-on-one training sessions. Looking forward to reading up on TT today. I am still absolutely wowed by your fantastic results!

"Do you want to feel my spatula?" Run, Fat Boy, Run

Good morning cheetahs! I hope you all are having a great holiday weekend so far! I had a very nice 8 mile run yesterday and comfortably maintained a 9:00 pace--- it helps to have no hills here!
DH and I went out and hit the garage sales. Just within a 2 mile radius here there had to have been at least 15 of them! DH loves these things... I only tolerate it I'm afraid. MIL and FIL were here for a long afternoon visit and then later I did Viper, so it was a pretty good day!

Wendy- Very impressive hill workout on the TM yesterday. It's kind of nice getting a break from running on hills for me, the Jersey Shore is pretty flat. There will be plenty of
hill running for me tho in Pa!

Kath- I get a kick out of your GIANT sets! What's your favorite part to work? I like that core exercise on the foam roller.... gotta try that one! Hope you had a fun time at the anniversary party. Were they friends or relatives?

Gloria- I'm so glad to hear you are on the mend now after some good sleep. That was some bug! When do you find out if you made it in for the NYC marathon (that is the one you are trying for right?) GSL and Coremax are great workouts... you wont regret the purchase! I usually do other workouts using cross trainers which have more lateral support, plus it saves wear on the running shoes which wear out fast enough!!! (at least for me) I have used trail runners also for other workouts because they also have more support all around then a normal running shoe.

Carole- Never ran a 5k??? Wow, I guess you were strictly a distance queen! Maybe you will discover a new talent with these shorter races. I'm betting you will finish with a pace way faster then 10:00!!!

Cathy- With the inlaws visiting never did get around to a bike ride and probably wont today but I'm gonna nag him into it on Monday!... that's the plan anyway. Those BC classes do sound tough... but fun! Hope you get a great 9 miler in today!! What's been your longest run BTW?

Christine- well, even tho the rain will spoil your outdoor plans I do hope you get some... okay, I'll cross my fingers that it rains all night! Curious to here what kind of a difference those mats make with your step workouts.

Dallas-Happy belated Bday to your DH! Sounds like it was quite a party! Blisters sure can put a damper on runs. Ya know, they do make "blister bandaids" I believe... try to make yourself a donut with cushioning around it. I'd love to see your pics!!! Looking forward to it.

Jackie- Wow, busy day for you yesterday! How was the reunion? Not surprised at all about the complements you got! Like I told Cathy- Hope to get the bike ride sometime in this weekend. I'd really like to get DH started in some kind of cardio exercise.... and he is willing to do this!!

SunnyD- I bet you and your sis really turn some heads at your gym! I was perusing Alwyn's website the other day.... makes me wish I weren't on a "no new fitness toys" budget! (sigh) someday I will check this out tho!

For today I'll be doing HLK and then HSTA lower body circuit.
More visiting with DH's family today... an afternoon BBQ at BILs,
I'll bring a quorn "chicken" patty to grill:)

Good Morning Loverlies. :+

I did not have a great night's sleep last night. Our "house guest" (a husky named Keiko) was restless. I think he was wierded out as his owners have never left him anywhere w/o them except for an overnighter at the vet several months ago. I have to wonder if the dog slept at all during the night! Consequently our dog was awake most of the night too and along with pacing the floors and playing, they would also occassionally come over and try to wake me up too!:7 It was cute, I have to admit, but aggravating at the same time. I'll be okay though. I'm not EXHAUSTED, just a little less rested then I should be. Oh well. *shrugs shoulders*

So today is my rest day which I am taking with the exception of a 30 minute stretch and/or yoga session of some sort.

DH is doing really well keeping up with his X rotation except we BOTH forgot he was supposed to do Chest and Back/ARX on Friday! DOH! He was going to skip it and do Shoulders and Arms today. I told him NO WAY BUDDY! You gotta do the work out that you missed! Look at him trying to cheat and thinking his trainer wouldn't notice!;) So it's great that I'm takin' it easy today and he'll be gettin' his butt kicked by Tony!:p

So I ended up doing Turbo Jam Cardio Party y'day afternoon just as I thought I might. It was fun. As a reward for my double work out I allowed myself to go out to eat. We went to Applebee's. I was very good. I ordered the Chili Lime Chkn Salad off the WW menu and only drank ONE Corona Light. DH ordered nachos as an appy and I ate with him but only noshed on the DRY chips w/jalepenos on them for flavor.:9 When I came home and input my food into FitDay I found that I did really well. My cals were just a tad higher then they should have been and my ratios were off only a little bit. :7

This morning was weight and BF day. According to my scale and my omron I've lost 1.5# and .95% body fat in just under one week!!!

Three cheers for Alwyn!:+ :+ :+

Now it's FINALLY time for personals after "talking your ears off"!LOL

Dallas: The dvd I am getting is a kettlebell dvd. I just purchased a bell and have only done the instructional dvd that comes with it once. I want a full body kb work out to do once a week while I am doing the AfterBurn program. After Burn is an Alwyn Cosgrove program that Sunny and I are doing. Turbulence Training is what Christine is doing. :) Glad the party was a success. Didn't it feel good to NOT be hung over while DH was hurtin' y'day? LOL I have actually learned where my limits are over the past few years. I have perfected drinking until I feel it w/o going too far. When I come home I take ibuprofen and drink water and when I wake up if I don't feel 100% I am darned close to it!

Gloria: I don't wear my running shoes for anything but running although I know a girl who posted in this check in briefly who says she wears hers for all of her work outs. She says it work outs just fine for her. I can be a bit of a shoe person though so maybe I just want the excuse to have more then one pair of sneakers!;) :7

Jackie: I know what you mean about pinching yourself.:) Enjoy the new space! Can't wait to hear what you line up in terms of races!

Christine: Yes, the GB was very helpful. I am glad I bought one. Heck, for the price you couldn't go wrong! I am excited to try the kb work out. I also purchased vols 1 and 2 of IronCore from Target but am not sure I should keep them so I haven't opened them yet.

Carole: Is it still raining by you? Gosh, I hope it clears up so you can enjoy some nice weather. So do you get robbed of a real holiday weekend since you are normally off on Mondays anyway?

Kath: Obviously I have not given up the CABS but am not indulging the way I normally would. LOL I am getting pretty close with the diet in terms of cals and macros so I'm very happy. Have you given any more thought to giving one of these programs a try?

Cathy: Enjoy your 9 miler today! So you are thinking of purchasing PT sessions? Very cool! I'll be excited to hear about that if you decide to go for it. :)

Sunny: Aw man I am jealous of your work out with your sis and BIL y'day! LOL Have fun runnin' the stairs today. That is something I haven't tried yet. I don't even know where to find the stairs to do it and maybe that's a GOOD thing! ;)

Shelly: Nice run y'day. Garage sales are cool to do once in a while. I also like flea markets. So did your DH buy anything? Will your inlaws be an almost permanent fixture in your home while you are living in NJ? :p

Okay, this post is really long!LOL I think it's time for me to move on but I'll be back!:7

Shelly -- boy, you really are seeing a lot of the in-laws these days. How is FIL doing, BTW?...I love riding bikes or running at the shore...My longest run, you mean during training so far? It'll be today's 9. Ever? Would be 13.1. Enjoy your workout & the BBQ.

Wendy -- Maybe a nap is in order today...Ahh, so DH has discovered the TFH? ;) :7 Yes, I am going to spring for PT sessions with my own local TFH (it'd be you if you lived closer! :)), but not until the fall when cash flow is rollin' again. The sessions ain't cheap! I'm just debating on whether or not to do them *before* or *after* the marathon. I guess I want to see where I am with training for that before deciding. Enjoy your stretch/yoga today.

Good morning cheetahs

Cathy...LMAO about the Wii guy! Doncha just hate discourteousness...:D...It rained all day yesterday but I got some dusting and vacuuming done, besides laundry. So extra punishment at BC? Good luck with the 9 miles today!!

Christine...We need the rain too and it did all day yesterday. When I ran at the lake last week, the water levels looked more like they do in Aug than May! Which is depressing. Glad the fire is getting under control, I bet the rain helped. So did you try out Jump Snap?

Dallas..Sounds like DH celebrated his B-Day well!! Sorry you missed your TNT run. I have not had a blister in a long time, but like cathy suggested, maybe a bandaid might help? I for sure agree with your marathon friend, this 5K will kill me!! No yard work yesterday so I might tackle it today.

Gloria...sorry about the cough. This cold really zapped you. Hope you are better soon. I did housework instead of yardwork yesterday. I only wear running shoes to run! I use crosstrainer's for my other cardio workouts.

Jackie...Hope you had a blast at the class reunion! You had a busy day after your run yesterday. I guess it would be best to wait a bit to sell your house. I know here, houses are not selling well at all.

Shelly...LOL about DH loving Garage sales...I think I have only been to one in my life!! yes, I have always enjoyed distance better than short runs. Thanks for your vote of confidence! Enjoy HLK & HSTA and then have fun at the BBQ later.

Wendy...Sorry about the dogs keeping you awake last night. Congrats on the great results so far!!...It is just cloudy now, but more rain is due. I guess I do get ribbed this holiday weekend...and of course DH also has monday off...http://www.emotihost.com/glass14/3.gif[/img]

I ended up taking a rest day yesterday...I am planning on an 8 mile run with my sister and friend this morning. Not sure if we will get rained on or not!

Have a great day...:)

Hey Cheetahs-

Weekend fly by here! Hi and Happy Memorial Day Weekend! I did an account of "life on the weekend " on the Alwyn thread so I won't repeat it here. I am off go golf for now.

Morning Cheetahs!

I am LOVING NOT to have to do lesson plans today!!! :) Had a good deep sleep. This morning Andy said I was talking about one of my students in my sleep last night. I said I missed him. That is wierd because he hasn't gone anywhere yet! :) LOL!

Cathy: Thanks for the info. I think I will look into that dvd. Do you do any of the other workouts on CTX or just the leg one? Wow, you did a little of everything on your job. Sounds kind of neat to me. Good luck on the 9 miler today. The weather is nice here again.

Shelly: I am in the lottery for NYC and find out in mid June. I am not much of a garage sale person either. Great job on the Viper! Enjoy the BBQ!

Carole: Good luck on the 8 miles with your sis and friend! Crossing my fingers for a rain free run!

I am going for a run today. Probably a slow one, but at least I will work out!
:)

ttyl...:)

Happy Sunday Peeps!

Wendy – Nice hill run you did yesterday!

Dallas – oh cool! DH really celebrated his 40th – eh? Sounds like a great time! Mole skin works for blisters. Cut out a hole the size of the blister, and put the mole skin around it, then cover that with more mole skin. It’s a little bulky, but it keep you going with blisters (distance hiker’s trick). Not too sure about the JumpSnap. We’ll see.

Gloria – Don’t feel bad about not working out yesterday. You need to rest. BOSU Blast is the best BOSU workout. It’s fun. I can’t do heavy leg work while training for distance, but others swear by it, so go for it. I keep my running shoes strictly for running (although I lift weights in my older shoes). I use aerobics shoes for all other cardio (except bike – I have bike shoes for that) because I was have knee problems, and someone suggested that my running shoes were causing problems when I stepped. Once I switched, I was fine *knocks on wood*. Enjoy your run today.

Jackie – Sounds like a nice day you had yesterday. I love busy days like that. How was the class reunion? Not too sure about the Jump Snap. We’ll have to see. :p

Cathy – Moreno is of Power Strike fame – she and Iliara (sp), did them. The went their separate ways, but she’s brought out some eclectic workouts. Enjoy your 9 mile run! Hope it goes well!!!

Sunny – Oh have fun with your sister and her bf! That sounds like a good time!!

Shelly – I’m with you on the garage sales. I’m glad my DH isn’t an avid fan like yours! :p Another Shelly workout yesterday I see!! Wow! I ended up doing Spinervals yesterday but when I used the Jump Snap, I was impressed with the cushioning. The concrete in my garage is just too hard. Enjoy your BBQ and your Quorn Chicken Patty. What do your IL’s think of your vegetarianism? Are they tolerant or more like Carole’s family?

Wendy – Sorry Keiko kept you awake. Sweet of you to dog sit though. I’m sure he is just spooked and trying to figure out what’s going on. Sometimes being able to explain things to dogs would make it so much easier. I just don’t want them talking back to me! :+ Good job to DH for keeping up with the X! You’ll get that workout in no time, if you purchased it from AOS. I always get them two days after I order and I’m in Cali.

Carole – We had some sprinkles, but no real rain. We need it here. That fire is growing and it moved directions. I think some of the Catheites are now in danger, like Beth. I wonder if they need volunteers to dig ditches for fire breaks. I’d go and dig. Yes, I tried the Jump Snap. I have to get the motion down more because I swing it’s not a perfect arch. How many weights do you have in yours?

Not sure what I’m going to do today. Some kind of cardio. I can tell the difference already in my intervals. For my ride yesterday I did Spinervals Mental Toughness, which is 90 minutes, and I was able to go harder longer. I felt GREAT! I also did the intermediate workout that came with my jump snap. Jury is still out on the Jump Snap. I have to figure out if I really like it or not. I’m really enjoying this rotation. I’m going to do it as is for another week (might sub some kettlebells, but we’ll see). Hope everyone has a phenomenal day!

Mornin’ Cheetahs!

Fly by for me (well you know my fly bys…lol) just wanted to say hello. Work was busy chaotic and I’ve had mega homework the past few days. Today we are celebrating DH’s birthday (it’s 5/29) with a barbeque here with family. Gotta get in there and finish my cleaning and cooking. Got chicken marinating in Yoshida’s, I’m having the halibut, red potatoes and sweet corn for the grill, green salad, broccoli, baked beans, WW recipe mac and cheese, and tortilla chips/salsa, fresh veggies with dip …anything else? oh yeah, I’m making DH his favorite cake – German Chocolate. Oh, ya and I got the girls’ bf’s a bag of super hot lime cheetos as both boys love this crappy stuff… it was a special occasion! And as long as they use a napkin and don’t wipe the orange/red crap from their fingers on their pants!... LOL

Yesterday, I had a nice run (in the rain – YAY for the rain!) and lower body beat-up afterward so today is gonna have to be a rest day me thinks with all the goings on here. Tomorrow since I’m off I get to meet my friend to run in the am again – and then I’ll get in some upper body as well…

Ok, I’ll try to get on later this evening and catch up what I’ve missed and post some personals…. have a great day ya’ll!

Hello Ladies!

Y-day was truly a rest day. Never did get that ab and floor work in like I wanted. Oh well. The kids had a playdate with their friends. The even had a lemonade stand. :) Today, the kids rode their bikes while I ran. We bike/ran to a park and there's a pond w/a path. I did twelve laps around that while they played at the park. It was kind of boring for me, but at least I got my run in and I could see them the whole time. Then came back and ran through the sub-division - quite hilly. I had to push DS5 up all the hills. Now that is a workout! }( Overall, I got in 8.5 miles w/avg pace of 9:10. I have to stretch and do some abs before the graduation party. We're taking the kids to the Sox game, but I see some bad weather heading our way. Hope it waits until after the game. **crossing fingers**

Christine ~ Thanks for the blister help. I have worn those shoes several times and have not gotten blisters. ???? Way to go on the Spinervals!!! I know my stair workout is really helping my endurance too! :)

Posh ~ Happy Birthday to your DH! Your meal sounds yummy! My dh fav cake is German choc too. Have fun today.

Sunny ~ Wow! What a workout! Does your dh work out with you too?

Gloria ~ Have fun on your run! It was so beautiful outside today. :) No, I have cross training shoes I use for step, kickbox, etc. I'm thinking of getting shoes for just my spin bike and classes, but I can't justify that purchase yet - need to use it more! ;-)

Judy ~ Enjoy your Memorial Weekend!

Carole ~ That seems so funny to me that a 5K is harder than a marathon. You will do great! Thanks for the blister advice. Good luck getting your yard work done.

Wendy ~ Congrats!!! You're doing great with the program! :D Yeah, I have two glasses of wine and I'm done. Beer does NOT agree with me. lol Way to do for your DH sticking w/the X! :)

Shelly ~ Sounds like a nice run y-day. I'm not much of a garage sale type of person, of course, I hate shopping of any kind. ha! I know - I'm weird! lol Nice workout plan. Enjoy your BBQ.

Cathy ~ how did the 9 miles go? Thanks a regular band aid worked just fine. It was pretty sore to the touch y-day, so I was worried. We played the Wii some more last night. I am terrible at the soccer header game. Again, the kids were giving me pointers. LOL! There was a little blurp on the Wii Fit on CNN this AM w/Sanjay Gupta. I like him. Personal trainers were going to make that option available at their gyms. They did agree it's not for intense training, but whatever works to get ppl moving. :)

Jackie ~ Good luck getting the rental ready. Hope you get to chill a bit!

Hi to the rest of the Cheetahs! Have a great day!

I did Awaken the Body this morning and feel good.

I'm trying to keep my cals lower then usual through this afternoon as I know I will be eating more then normal at the bbq. On the other hand, the last thing I want is to be STARVING when I get to the BBQ! I am going to try not to really over-do it but I know it'll be far from perfect no matter what! LOL

I need to get in the shower now but will come back for personals before we leave if there is time.

DH is taking our house guest home as we speak. My poor dog is all depressed and whimpering now that he's gone. ;(

BBL maybe!

Sunny: Glad to hear you are enjoying the time with your sister!

Christine: That is sweet of you to be willing to go and dig ditches. I hope they can get the fire under control soon. Glad to hear you are getting stronger on your workouts. That's a great feeling! I will look into that dvd, thanks! :)

Posh: Can I come over for dinner? Sounds delish! Happy birthday to your DH! :)

Dallas: That is sooo cute about the lemonade stand! When my sister and I were little we had one a few times, but we lived in the middle of nowhere so we never really had any customers! LOL! Great run! I am crossing my fingers for no rain during the game! :)

Wendy: Good luck at the BBQ! Aw, your poor dog. Maybe you should get another one to keep him company? :)

After reading your posts I ordered a pair of cross trainers. They are a pair I had a year ago for wearing on Friday and just around town. When I bought them I did a super quick try on and after wearing them found them to be a bit too snug so I gave them away to one of my students. I bought a 1/2 size up from the last pair I had so they should fit perfectly. They are the nike air zoom commence cross trainers in pink, grey and white. Very cute and functional. Ok, this spending spree is over! I promise! I ended up running 4 miles in 40:00 min. It was tough, but I made it!

:)

Holy hell, that was the hardest run EVER, and that was with some extra walk breaks! I was already feeling fatigued at mile 4 (!) with the glute DOMS in full force. Had to dig DEEP to make it up the hills. And unfortunately, I forgot my Sharkies, so I swung home at mile 7.5 when I was nearly out of gas, downed a glass of skim milk, gobbled up the Sharkies, and finished her up. 9.25 total. Now I'm utterly KAPUT! This morning I started to feel like I might be coming down with something, and post-run isn't any better, so I'm going to shower and rest up some. But I'll promise I'll get back later for personals.

Cathy: Oh my, I hope you are not getting sick! Hopefully it is not as bad as what I went through. I was in serious pain. I even considered a sick day and I NEVER am out sick. I am proud of you for making it through your hellish run! :) Today's was tough for me, but I have had worse. When I ran my first half marathon I do not think I trained properly and just about died. Not to mention it was in April and the night before the state of Michigan got dumped on with a ton of snow! Driving down to the race that morning I saw several cars in the ditch because the roads were so bad! I finished in 2:15 I think. It was very windy and falling snow stung my eyes. Get lots of rest, take your multivitamin and just kick back.
