Morning, everyone! http://www.steelbeasts.com/sbforums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

First, congrats to Spain! They were a superb team and deserved the championship.
http://spain.worldcupblog.org/files/2008/06/strong_feliz_strong_casillas_desbordo.jpg

It was a fun tournament to watch. And now it's just two more years to wait for the World Cup. *sigh* :7

Catchin' up on personals--

Gloria ~ my closet sounds like yours and Christine's...How did the soup turn out? The bread sounded yummy, too...Sorry about the Charlie horse. Good job with 4 miles on the TM. My hat's off to anyone who can put in the mileage on that thing! :7...I haven't read the book, but I've seen the movie. Fired for that? Seriously? I need to google that story.

Christine ~ how was the dinner?...The core routine involved: hanging straight leg raises, toe touches, The Sprinter (love this move! tough!) walking lunge plate twists, supermans, twisting windmills, bar crunches, and a hammer toss using a med ball. They also showed a bonus move called the Wicked Windshield Wiper using the pullup bar, but that one was just insane. The moves were put together by a few Olympic trainers...That was a nice bonding moment w/ DD19. Did she start working at your office yet?

It'll be a rest day for me today. Off to get ready for jury duty--lucky me. :)

Have a good one--

"Do you want to feel my spatula?" Run, Fat Boy, Run

Good morning ladies!

I can only manage a semi-quickie fly by this morning.

I do want to let Shelly and Dallas know that they and their families are in prayers. {{{HUGS}}}

Cathy - Keeping my fingers crossed that you have a short day at jury duty and/or are excused. I saw that same story on CNN about the fired teacher...ridiculous. Yeah, I guess the book is kind of graphic and there is quite a bit of language in it but nothing that high school students don't live with every day *rolls eyes*. Great run yesterday in the goop!

Speaking of goop...BLECH x(!!!! Although it was cool enough for my run this morning the humidity was insane. On top of that my legs felt like lead so my planned 5 miler turned into 4.25...that's how it goes sometimes. I woke up tired so I guess I should be happy with that. I certainly fell asleep early enough last night, had an easy enough day yesterday (ErrandMax) and yesterday's workout was pretty easy...BM2 Cardio & Weights premix. Maybe my runs from Fri and Sat are finally catching up a bit *shrugs*.

Ooh, sorry gotta get my tuchus in gear. I should be back tonight to chat. Have a great day ladies!

Hi ya Cheetah Babes.

K, so I know I said I was going to rest today BUT...I am more then likely going to A/C this weekend which means I will be indulging in many drinks and lots o' bad food. Chances are, in addition, that I may not get in ANY runs sat or sun because of the heat since I don't know how early I'll be able to get my arse out of bed. That being said, I am just going to keep plugging away this week figuring I'll be resting both Saturday AND Sunday. This means that I have AB weights stage 2 day 2 on tap for nap time w/*possible* HIIT afterwards depending on how I feel and how much time I have. }(

Time for personals....

Cathy: Glad you are happy with the championship winners. I don't think you give a rat's tushy about the actual game of fussball. I think you just like to http://www.millan.net/minimations/smileys/loveshower.gif" over the players. LOL
Oooh, I saw that routine in Women's Health that you are talkin' about and thought of trying it myself! Sounds evil!

Wendi: WTG for a tired, goopy run. Getting 4.25 in is a great job if you ask me! You don't see ME out there in the goop at some crazy early hour of the morning running, do you? :p DEFIANTELY give yourself more credit, girl. :)

Christine: Hey, if you are like most of us, you'd love to do Coach Sean in more ways then one. Nothing to be ashamed of!:7 }( :9 Good job on your elliptical work out. Great way to play it smart and still get in a good work out. LMAO about hoping you make it to the party y'day. So DID YOU?? ;)

Carole: I will start training for my 18 miler at the beginning of August. That's the plan as it stands right now anyway. It may change though. Not sure. I'm not out to break any landspeed records here. I simply want to get my mileage up to 15 before the race so I don't need a ton of time. I don't intend to start the training at 2 miles. LOL Glad the run y'day wasn't bad with the smoke. WTG adding the EXT on afterwards.

Dallas: Thanks for stopping by! It was great to "see" you. :)

Gloria: So how was the soup??

Good morning all! Sorry I was MIA yesterday but DH and I spent the whole day travelling thru Pa and got back late. I was able to get in a good 5 mile run in the morning first though.

Thank you all so much for your support re: my sister's situation in Pakistan. She called my Mother yesterday and things are a bit easier for them now. The Pakistan government launched a serious counteroffensive against the Taliban and things have cooled... for now! It's still a simmering cauldron there and I'll be VERY glad to have them home in August... although it is only for a long visit.

My other big news is that DH and I found a home we both want and placed a bid yesterday. The only drawback is that the commute for me is a tad longer then I wanted. I wanted to keep it less then 30 minutes and it will end up being likely 35-40... oh well. I should have thought to take my camera yesterday to share pics but I forgot:( Anyway, it's a beautiful home on 24 acres that backs right into state property in the Tuscarora range. I'll be back to running some serious hills again:eek: Well, I may be jumping the gun here... we've only placed a bid and the seller has to agree. However, he's had it on the market for a year and is quite anxious and we did put in a reasonable offer.

Well, I'll be busy today shopping for mortgages. I already got in 4ds HIS-Chest and Back. It'll be a double 4DS day for me and I'll do LIS later.

Cathy- x( x( x( x( x( x( sorry about the jury duty. Such a tiresome thing to endure. Hope it will be dismissed or you will be dismissed nice and early!!

Wendi- Sorry your run was a disappointing one today... I'd say everything just kinda caught up with you. Hope the rest of the day goes great for you.

That's all for now Cheetahs... I should be able to check back later.

Shelly

Wendy- Posting together today:) Good plan this week since you'll be playing in AC this weekend:7 Hey, I'll be starting to up the mileage on long runs and begin serious training in August also.
My end goal tho is the Philly Marathon in Nov. Part of the course is run on the Blvd right outside my apartment.

Shelly

Good morning cheetahs

Cathy...Sorry your team did not win...:)..John is having some problems emotionally and might not be in a great spot right now. I can only imagine many para's go through this. I just hope he figures out where to go next (as far as working and his life). He of course is always in great spirits whenever I see him. Mmmm chips & salsa....:)..Good job trying those hanging leg raises, they are way tough. Hope you manage to get out of Jury Duty somehow!

Gloria...LOL about the pretzels! That is why I have them here as they are not as good as chips so therefore I eat less of them, but they do satisfy my salt craving. Sorry about the calf cramp. I am fortunate there as the only kind of cramps I get are in my toes after long run sometimes.

Wendi..sorry about the humid run, I can imagine that is hard to run in.

Wendy..WOW, 2 rest days in a row this weekend!!...:D...AC should be fun. Sounds like a good plan for the 18 miles. I think speed records are much harder the longer you run. You just want to get your body ready to handle the longer distance, so the 18 miles won't be so painful..

Shelley...glad things have cooled down a bit for your DSis and BIL. I bet it will be great to have them home for a bit come August! The new home sounds cool. 24 acres!! I sure hope things work out for you...:)..Enjoy 4DS and LIS.

Christine..sorry about the smoke and your allergies. I know a lot of people here are affected too. Can't wait to see pics of you and DH all dressed up! Glad to hear the back is better. It is interesting as seeing John puts many things in perspective for me, and it is very hard to complain about a thing! LOL, my nails have been french for so long I am not sure I could survive with a color!!

Dallas...Nice to "see" you again...:)...Good job on the 8 miles and MM. Very sweet to take your MIL some soup and spend some time with her..Running in the smoke might not be a smart idea for me, but as I don't have a sensitivity it does not feel too bad. I have cut my runs somewhat shorter.

The air quality must be improving here as last night was the first time since the fires started that we had a normal (and not red) sun!!

I am planning on Upper Plus, Abs/core and some time on my EXT.

Have a great day..:)

Hi Cheetahs !

We had a wonderful but nonstop weekendwith DD22 home. I planned on taking two rest days and it was worth it!

Shelly- Good luck on your purchase offer!

Cathy- I hope you get dismissed for JD today!

Wendy- Your plan sounds good! Ps how long are the AB workouts taking? Do I sense another half coming your way????

Hi Wendi!

It doesn't look like I'll catch up on personals from the weekend. I'll have to be forgiveness!

Today was NROL4W stage 4A I was huffin' and puffin' and sweating like crazy. I prefer to keep the rests short, but it really adds up by the end of the workout with cutting short the rest time. I struggled to get through 2 minute plandks on the inverted BOSU.

I am not sure if I'll do cardio or not today. I just had a recovery shake and will start my Monday cleaning in minute.

I have been reading Michael Pollens best selling book, In Defense of Food. It is quite an interesting take on the food revolution. Have any of you read it?

Hiya Cheetahs!

Gloria – Be careful of the multi-vitamins with calcium – iron can prohibit absorption of calcium. For me it’s actually the magnesium that helps. Weird , I know. The party was a blast. I described it below. It was fun to get all dressed up and to see everyone in their best. We don’t do it often enough. I just need to learn to walk in stilettos. :p

Wendy – way to go on the shopping trip! A cute dress is always needed – what are you talking about?! Glad you enjoyed your run! Have fun with AB! Oh yeah, I made it to the party. I have a foggy head to prove it. A little too much champagne. :p

Cathy – sorry about Spain winning, but they are a great team this year. Dinner was a blast – see below. Oooh, I’ll have to look up that routine when I get better. I love tough core moves. I have my fingers crossed for you for jury duty!

Wendi – Yep, sometimes the runs are on, and sometimes they’re not. But man, when they ARE on?! That’s why we run. Have a great day!

Shelly – Oh, how exciting! You put a bid on the house? Wonderful!! Sounds absolutely gorgeous!! Congratulations!! Are you going to stay where you are? Or are you looking maybe to move to something closer eventually.

Carole – I think the wind is changing here – we’re supposed to have clearing skies the next day or two. *fingers crossed* It’s not too bad for me, just a little annoying. It is tough to complain when so many others have it so much worse. I actually like my nails colored. I get bored with the same thing, so I switch up. The red nails were perfect for last night. For the most part I keep mine French, too.

Judy – Glad you had a great weekend with DD22! 2 minute planks on an inverted BOSU? That sounds evil. My DD15 is reading Michael’s Omnivore’s Dilemma for school. I plan to borrow it. She says it’s interesting and sounds like something I would like. :p

Wow! What a party!! There were about 70 people there. We filled the restaurant. The theme was James Bond and everyone was dressed to the nines. The food was fabulous, the CAB’s free flowing. Think of the party you could throw if money was really no object – this is the party it was. Even the paper towels in the restrooms had James Bond on them. It was really fun, but I am so ready for a day off – I’ve been going, going, going! I think I’m going to work from home today. :+ I didn’t get home until 11PM, so I got up too late to work out, which is okay. I may be able to get something in this afternoon. We’ll see. The back is doing better and happily the stilettos didn’t bother it at all. Have a great day all!

well, i was mia all weekend resting (to really get rid of the crud i had) and i didn't even turn on the computer all saturday or sunday. it was kinda nice.

forgive me but i have not gone bback and read this weekends' posts so i'll try to do personals from this point on.

cathy-so fun watching the guys, i mean, the game! that casillas is sure yummy!!!

wendy-so, you just couldn't do it on the rest day, huh? i get like that. all good intentions to take a rest day but then i just don't feel like it.

wendi-4.25 in high humidity in nothing to scoff at!

shelly-wtg on placing a bid. i can't believe how much acreage you would have! that would cost millions here!!!

judy-okay, now you're scaring me with the planks on the bosu!!! i just did workout b stage 1 and that was wnough for me!

carole-i am so glad to hear that your air quality is improving! you must be very relieved.

christine-your party sounds top notch! glad you had fun.

i just finished up nrolw and bosu blast. i hadn't worked out for four days and coming back with bosu blast was a bit tough, but i just took it easy when needed.

i am thinking about going to the pool for a while. i am doing the washing right now and need to get something to eat.

hope everyone is having a good monday!

Good morning Cheetahs!

Sorry for being MIA. Friday was a busy day and I had to entertain DBF over the weekend. He feels a little left out if I spend too much time here. Of course, he will have to get over that. Also went to a BD party. I'll start with today on personals.

Cathy - Congrats to your winners! Enjoy your rest day! Jury duty! Yuk! x( Hope it's not too bad.

Wendi - Good job on your run today. Sometimes you just can't pull out that last little drop.

Wendy - Way to get some workouts in the bank for your party weekend!

Shelly - I'll have to go back and read posts but hope all is well with your sister. Will definitely be sending prayers up. Happy to hear you and DH have found that wonderful new home. Keeping my fingers crossed for you.

Carole - Glad the air is clearing some there. Maybe you can get in a smoke free run soon. Enjoy your workout!

Judy - Glad you enjoyed having DD at home.

Christine - I spread my multi and calcium throughout the day. That party sounds like it was so much fun! Glad you enjoyed it. When you learn how to walk in stilettos, please share the secret. :) Glad the back is better.

Lorie - Nice workout today! Enjoy your time at the pool.

Saturday I ran 4 miles, washed my car, washed a window and did Yoga Relax. Yesterday was a rest day. Today's workout was GS Chest & Triceps Supersets and HSC stability ball abs.

Today is Monday all over again. Better get back to work. Enjoy your day ladies!

Jackie

Hello again cheetahs. I finished seeing DH off and he's called me from NJ.. I miss him already:( Time for some apartment cleaning and lunch, then my second workout of the day.

Wendy- The seller of the house we want was given the standard 48 hrs for a reply so we should know by noon tomorrow. Yes indeedy there is a half marathon in Philly as well as the full. There is also an 8k... something for everyone!!! The races start at the same time and are on the same course to start with also.

Carole- Glad to hear your air is clearing some.. when are you going for a run again to test it?

Judy- That was great you had such an enjoyable weekend with DD!! That stage 4 of NROLFW sounds like a killer!

Christine- Wow, that was some party!!! But I agree you definitely need some decompressing time at home now. I will be staying here in my posh pad in Philly until my contract ends in Sept.
After that if all goes well I'll be moving into this new home. We set a date for closing for Aug 1.

Lorie- Yes, the price is very affordable for acreage in Pa for the most part. Even better then Az where we just came from. Glad to hear you are finally getting over that bug... got in a good workout today too!

later y'all

Shelly

Jackie- Posting together now:) Sounds like you had a busy but fun weekend. My sis is doing better now and thank you for your concern.
I'm 90% certain that this deal will go thru for us:) :)

Shelly

Hello!! :)

Cathy: Wow, two years is a long time to wait for the World Cup! It is pretty ugly in my closet. :) The soup turned out alright. Not my best work, but oh well. The bread was delicious! I looked up the story and the teacher was suspended for not talking to administration about it, although she did have the kid's parents sign permission slips. Maybe there was something else going on with the teacher that prompted this. Who knows. Gotta be careful out there. How did jury duty go?

Wendi: I would be proud of getting that run in with those conditions. :) I agree with what you said to Cathy about the kids. They are certainly not naive at that age, well most.

Wendy: The soup was okay. Like I said to Cathy, not my best work. Oh well, it is still edible. :) Nice plan for working out this week.

Shelly: The new property and house sound beautiful. Sounds like a nice place to run. Oh, I am so glad your sis and BIL are okay. I will be thinking of you and your family. Awww, so sweet you are missing DH already. :) Enjoy your afternoon workout.

Carole: I got the charlie horse in the middle of the night. Very wierd. I like pretzel braids dipped in my black bean hummus. Tasy that way! :9 Nice to hear the air quality is improving.

Judy: Good to hear your rest days were nice. I have not read the book you are speaking of. I might look at it on Amazon.

Christine: The party sounds perfect. I could never walk in stilettos! :) I heard it was good to take a multivitamin. Hmmm, I will look into this. Thank you very much for the information. Enjoy what ever it is you're planning for a workout today. It must be a good Monday for you since you are working from home. :)

Lorie: Sounds like a nice weekend. It is good to get away from the computer sometimes. Very nice workout you did today. Glad you beat the crud! :)

Jackie: Hope your Monday wasn't too painful. :) When my DH is home and I am on the computer he always asks if I am talking to my "pretend friends (his words)." He is only kidding and known to be a jokester. :)

I have been busy around the house and had to go into town again today. x( I bought some bananas so I don't get any more of those charlie horses. My calf is still a little sore, but much better than yesterday. Since I ran yesterday I will probably do some yoga and maybe something else. I am eager to try out my new ipod when it comes. :) Hope everyone is doing well on this lovely Monday!!!!!

Hey Girls.

I just finished my work out. Once again, I was unable to motivate myself for AB weight work. *sigh* I ended up doing The Kettlebell Way. I skipped the rest periods between rounds to make it more intense and added on the crush curls from KBG as well as the stretch. Great work out!

I am officially giving up AB for now. I'm not even going to attempt it once per week like I had thought. I think I need an all out change from it right now. I am feeling lazy and just don't want to work from a book right now. That's really what it comes down to. LOL That being said, I will continue with the HIIT 3x per week along with some steady state but am leaning towards a rotation using the bells for the most part. Perhaps I'll do what I had mentioned prior...2 f/b bell work outs and 1 regular upper body work out per week. Nothing set in stone yet though. :)

Alrighty, time for a shower.
BBL for personals though!:*

Hey Christine and Posh...we got some help!!!! A huge water bomber landed in one of our lakes yesterday called the Martin Mars. It is from Canada and was sent to help fight all the fires in Calif. Here is a video, it is about 8 min long but cool. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h1y6Tnczjuw

Christine...today seems better although the smoke is still out there. I think they sent the Bomber to Platina today. I would think the ocean breezes could help you somewhat? I guess I don't get bored with french, it has been a long time since I wore any color! Sounds like a great party! Glad the heels did not affect your back.

Lorie...good job getting rid of the crud. I am happy the smoke is better too and now with this huge water bomber we should see a lot of improvement. Glad you took it easy with the workout today.

Jackie...I won't run again until Wed, but I am hoping for even better clearing! I bet the rest day was nice. Glad you enjoyed your weekend with DBF. Good workout today! I am really enjoying P90X+.

Shelly...I am going to wait til Wed to run. I have not really felt any bad effects so far from running what I have in the smoke. Although I sure don't know what it does to me inside! I will keep my fingers crossed for this house!

Gloria...when I got my toe cramps it was usually in the middle of the night too. I do sometimes dip my tiny twist pretzels in the Sabra hummus...yum!! Have you tried the roller on your calf?

Cathy...sorry about the PC freezing! Have you defragged lately? Or checked for Spyware....yes, I am a bit geeky that way...:)...Did you get out of Jury Duty?

Upper Body+ was fun. And I got a clean bill of health from the dentist! I will be doing Abs/core later today.

Lorie – Are you finally feeling better? BOSU Blast is a toughie – you must be feeling better! Glad to hear it! Enjoy the pool. I may go out and float in ours a little later.

Jackie – Hope you found lots of ways to entertain DBF. :+ Did you enjoy yourself? Sounds like a busy weekend! I did not fall in the stilettos last night, but it was a near thing! :p

Shelly – I’ll bet you cannot wait to move into your new house, and be able to stay with DH full time. It’s tough to be apart especially in a new city. {{{HUGS}}} I have my fingers crossed for you!

Gloria – Have I been working from home on Mondays? I usually switch it up. There are just times I want to work from home. I do actually get more done at home than I do in the office. :p Hope the bananas do the trick! I hate Charlie horses!!

Wendy – Glad you’re enjoying Kettlebells!! Your rotation idea sounds good.

Cathy – hope you don’t have to go back for jury duty!! Glad all is well!

Carole – oh that’s too cool! I was watching video of those on the news. Amazing things, aren’t they? Glad you have healthy teeth! Enjoy abs and core. I was thrilled to just get a little weight work in! :p

Okay – so I did get a short workout in, man did it feel good to sweat!! I did Awaken the Body up to the yoga – but that warmed me up nicely. Then a pulled out a Fab 40 Cross Fit workout and did through the cleans – those bothered my back so I did not complete them, and realized I had done enough. Felt good to be using muscles again!! I had no way of figuring out how long 40 meters is, so I just did 40 walking lunges. I think it would be fun to change this up with different lunges once I can do them with weights - I used no weights on the lunges or the squats, and did the push ups on my knees – which did not bother my back at all! Yeah! Now I’m icing my back, then I’m going to shower again.

Fab 40’s
40 meter walking lunges
40 swings
40 meter walking lunges
40 push ups

Hey Cheetahs!

Quick workout report. Ran 5 miles and did yoga for happiness "the quickie." My calf is feeling good. For good measure I put some arnica gel on it after my shower. Ate some yummy nachos for dinner and am hanging with DH. Have a nice evening everyone! Will do personals at some time tomorrow. I am tutoring at noon and haven't prepped for it yet. :)
