Hellooo Cheeeeetahs !

I have not had time to post as we spent the weekend trying to get DD back from Hong Kong. All planes were grounded in Hong Kong due to a Typhoon. The group she was with was split up and she ended up traveling via London. She departed NY going west and traveled home also going west; she has circled the globe. Nina is here safe and very tired with ove 400 pictures for us to see. We have so much catching up to do with her.

I did not run or do any workouts this weekend. Two days physical rest was a good.

I will continue resting my hip with no running and do Cathe cardio as tolerated. sitting at the computer is actually painful. I will get up and stretch it now and then do my WO

~~~Although I have not caught up on everyone, I want to send healing thoughts to Carole's nephew.
Good morning, Judy - sounds like you have a full plate. :) I'm glad your DD is back safe and sound, I'm sure it was rather unsettling for you with all the delays and changes that she went through. Rest is good, I'm glad you listened to your body, that's most important.
I've got a huge busy week coming up both at work and home. But, I will most definitely fit in my exercises and runs because that is the only thing that will keep me sane. Teachers and other staff are slowly coming back to work, so now the questions will start flying through and I will be on my toes all week.
Have a great week everyone, I'll be back later.
Oh, I'm going to do a three mile run after work, the humiidity is way down again so we can breathe and it's wonderful outside.
Marcia.
G'morning Judy. I'm glad your DD is home safe. Have fun looking at all of the pics! I hope your hip gets better soon, hon!
I have Ripped to the Core on tap for today and then my running class tonight. Tonight is 2 mins walking and 8 mins running x 3 cycles. We will be getting some info tonight on the follow up class to this one that will take place in the fall so I'm excited about that. :)
LOL-I am watching channell 11 news (the wb) and they are down the road at the water park in my town doing a story on summer fun type stuff! OMG, this little cr@ppy town is famous now! :7 :7 :7
ETA:
Marcia, we were posting at the same time. The heat finally broke for us too. We had a BEAUTIFUL weekend and hopefully it will continue!:)
good morning,
first off what is an iclimb workout? I am assuming you can use it with an eliptical? just curious as I am getting an eliptical for my b-day,the store was out of the one that I wanted but it will be in around a week or so.
jess I read about the ball workout flattening out your stomach,i dont know if you got my post a few days back about asking you to tell me more about it? I saw the windsor pilates ball workout at target for 15.00 but wanted to ask you more about it before I bought it. I need something to help finish off that lower pooch area,thought maybe that would help.
talk with you all later!
Good morning Cheetahs!! I had a fabulous weekend w/ my sweetheart. It was wonderful having a kid-free weekend although I was happy when they came home last night! Actually, just 2 of them, my oldest is still camping w/ her best friend til Wed.
After my run (Greg biked) Sat morning, we went out for lunch at Chevy's (Mexican- I had the chicken fajitas- YUM!), then to see Pirates of the Caribbean 2, then did some shopping. It was so much fun, we just had a great day!!
Yesterday I got up to swim in my friend Erin's pool, then we went to church, then out to eat at Famous Dave's (we hardly ever eat out, so this felt so indulgent to eat out 2 days in a row!). Then we went for a 13.5 mile bike ride in the afternoon. Poor Greg, he said his butt was killing him from the bike seat 2 days in a row!! :7
This morning I did a 13.8 mile bike w/ my friend Erin (Melissa must have slept in- oops!). I think I'll do GS chest/ triceps & my pilates later.
Leg feeling good, it really must have just been a bad muscle pull!
Judy ~ Hope your hip is feeling better. Are you icing & taking any Advil?? Glad your dd is home safe!!
Marcia & Wendy ~ Have a great day!!
Hugs,
Hey Laura! We must have posted at the same time! Enjoy that new elliptical when you get it!
Sorry, I must have missed your post! I've been kinda scarce this past week being out of town! The new ball workout that I have been doing is a smaller body ball (which isn't released yet, we just got the workout to try out!), but I do have the regular stability ball workout (45 min) that is one of my favorites too. It is good at helping strengthen your abs & flatten your tummy!! Another good one is the Ab sculpting (20 min) that you can pick up at Target also. HTH & let me know if you have any other questions!
Hugs,
Jess
GM, cheetahs!
Judy :: sounds like your daughter had an incredible trip -- and quite an adventure coming back! Glad she's home safe. Take care of that hip.
Wendy :: that's awesome on the 4-miler! Glad that little trick worked for you. I upped my minutes this week, so I am constantly "bargaining" my way to the end of my runs.
Jess :: glad you've enjoyed such a terrific weekend w/ the hubby. Had to chuckle about the bike seat. I rode a lot in Germany and my tuckus was hurtin' for it, too! I kept thinking why don't they pad these things a little better?? (As if I don't have enough padding of my own!) Also glad your leg's doing better.
Marcia :: don't say that word - 'school.' I'm in denial that it's August. :) Forgive me for not remembering, but do you work for the Board office?
Laura :: I was intrigued by the all i-workouts, too. I went to the website, though, and I got the impression that the iTread workout wouldn't be applicable outdoors as I imagine you're supposed to change the speed & settings of the treadmill. Maybe those in the know could shed some more light.
Hi to Carole, ShellyC, Barbara, Elaine, Christine, Laurie, and anyone else who drops by. Have a great workout!
And oh yeah, I forgot to mention that I just finished a 3.5 miler - MUCH better weather! whew! - and plan to do one of the GS upper body later on. Usually, I lift right after a run, but lately, I haven't felt like it. I must be in a little bit of a slump.
Good morning cheetahs
Barbara...thank you. I can't wait to get the Elliptical! I'll try the iClimb today on my Nordic track.
Wendy...I'll let you know later how I liked iClimb. Not sure when I do get the Elliptical..I never checked the site to see how long shipping took! Enjoy Ripped...that will be nice at your running class to hear what'll be coming up in the fall.
Judy...Nina sure took the long way home!! Enjoy catching up with her and seeing all the pictures...:)...sorry about your hip...take it easy today.
Marcia...it does sound like a busy week for you. I am glad the humidity is down!
Laura...Wendy and Barbara know more about iClimb than me. The site for info is www.itrain.com
Jess...sounds like a really nice weekend for the 2 of you. Mexican is my favorite type of food...you have been doing some great workouts!!
Cathy..I am glad the weather is better for running!! I usually do upper body litfing after a run but lower body before and abs where ever they fit...I think we all have slumps on occasion. You will get thru it...:)
I'll be trying out iClimb on my Nordic and then P90X Shoulders & Arms and abs.
My nephew seemed to have a better weekend. He was eating much better. They have to do another surgery to remove a draining sponge of some sort. Thank you for your prayers and support...
Have a nice day...it just started raining here...
ETA. I should get the Elliptical in about 2 weeks..:)
Laura,
IClimb in a stairclimber or elliptical work out you download onto and mp3 player.
Hello to Jess, Cathy and Carole!
:)
Good Morning Cheetahs!
Had an excellent day at the beach yesterday, gorgeous weather and water temps (but the waves weren't as big as I'd hoped:)). I parked my chair in the water for a while to soothe my weary ankles. Yesterday's 14k took it's toll on them but my hip flexors feel good. I'm wondering when I'll stop finding new places to chafe (ouchie!!x(). No running today, I think I'll do GS BSB, haven't done that one for a while then iy's CleanMax, love the sand at the beach, hate it in the house!
Carole, an Elliptical!!! What a treat!! I'm jealous:) I'd love to get one but, as I've said before, I'd have to take the furnace out to make room for it, no problem now but come Novemeber, brrrrrrrrr:+ Glad to hear that your nephew is eating better. His body must be working so hard to try to heal.
Marcia, enjoy your run later today. I can't believe you're getting back to school already, my Kids go back the Tuesday after Labour Day, when do student's return where you are?
Judy, glad Nina is home safe and sound:) Sound's like she's put in a lot of miles!!! Sorry to hear your hip is giving you grief, hope you feel better real soon!
Wendy, thanks for the ^^^5 yesterday.:) If someone had of told me I'd be doing this 6 months ago, I'd have said they were CRAZY!! Now some of my friends think I'm CRAZY!}( :7
Laura, Wow, another Cheetah gets an elliptical, I WANT ONE TOO!!:+ :p
Jess, that's terrific that you and your Sweetie had such a good weekend, nice to keep the fire burning. Isn't it such a good feeling when something that's been hurtin' abates!!
Cathy, enjoy your cooler temperatures:)
I'd be embarrassed to admit how long it takes me to post some days! Have a great day Cheetahs!
Take Care
Laurie:)
Earlier this morning I posted in the Daily Check In that I was probably going to ask for an HRM w/gps for Christmas this year...Well, OOPS, I just ordered one NOW!}( }( }( I got the Garmin forerunner 101 for $90.00 and that includes shipping...I couldn't pass it up! I'm so excited!!! Now I don't have to run the same darned route back and forth anymore! I can go anywhere and know how far I've gone! YEAY! :) :) :)
I initially was going to order a few Cathe dvds but I passed that up for the forerunner...Please don't hate me Cathe! I still think you are the best!;)
LOL
Hey Laurie! I have never felt more of a sense of accomplishment in my exercise then I have since taking up running! It's such a great feeling when you progress, isn't it!? :)
Laurie...I opted for the Space Saver Elliptical as I don't have much room either!! The longer distance you run you might just find some new areas to chafe...have fun with GS!! I have the same posting problems...slow typer...:)
Wendy...congrats on the Garmin Forerunner!!! My sister loves hers...but hers measures only distance/GPS not her Heart Rate..sounds like you got a great deal...:)
Laura...I downloaded the iClimb workout to my Windows Media player and then burned it to a CD. I don't have an mp3 player so this works better for me.
Ut oh, Wendy...I feel like I'm going to fold to temptation now. 90 bucks -- wow! I have been eyeing up one of those on Amazon, but it was a little more. I've been telling myself to hold off and just keep using mapmyroute, but that's a great price. Where, girl?? Direct me, please! :)
Good Morning Lovely Cheetahs!!
Man am I glad that Monday is here! This weekend was jammed pack, so it will be nice to have an easier pace!
Judy – Glad your DD is home safely! What an experience though! Sounds wonderful!!
Marcia – Good luck at school! I know you’ll handle those teachers with style! And enjoy your run!
Wendy – oh! I would be excited too!! Have fun tonight! Now that your town is famous maybe we’ll have to go there for a race?! That Garmin sounds like a wonderful deal! Enjoy it!
Laura – thanks for asking our resident Pilates expert! I’ll probably pick up those workouts as well!
Jess – Glad to hear you had such a great weekend! Thanks for the rundown on the Pilates workouts – I’ll probably get those as well!
Cathy – Have fun lifting. Hope your slump is very short!
Carole – Glad to hear your nephew is better! 2 weeks for your elliptical? I’m not a good waiter. When I want something, I want it NOW! :p
Laurie – Sounds like you had a wonderful time! I know what you mean about the sand, though! I spend all my time at the beach cleaning, it seems!
Well, I feel like I’m sitting here regrouping! The afternoon listening to Jazz was a blast. DD13 formed a crushed on the bass player – he was fabulous – all three of the players are incredible. DH was skeptical at first, but now he’s a fan. Bill, my former guitar teacher, is incredible on the guitar. We had a great time. So, today is ShopMax (groceries) and CookMax (I’m going to make a Minestrone soup for dinner – I want something light). It’s also weight day, so I’ll be doing Legs and Glutes and GS BSB and some kind of abs – maybe KPC abs – my hand took all of the push ups of GS C&T so I think it can handle a few pikes…
Good Morning Cheetahs!
Again, things have finally settled down enough this morning that I can get to the computer, LOL!
Judy-I'm so glad that your DD is home safe! What an amazing trip she must have had. At the college where I teach many of my students are international and I've had quite a few from Hong Kong who have been just great kids:) BTW, I love your DD's name!
Marcia-I know! It's like a "cold snap"! It feels wonderful:7 Sounds like you are going to have your hands full. How is the business going? Is the website up and running yet?
Wendy-Enjoy Ripped to the Core (what a great name}( ) and class tonight. And most of all CONGRATULATIONS on your 4 mile run outside!!!! I know it's a little late, but this way you get to feel great all over again:+ What cool gift for yourself! You totally deserve it. Hope you weren't, ummm, "inspired" by anyone on this thread.
Jess-How cool that we have the same anniversary! Happy Anniversary to you and your DH. What a great thing that you got some quality alone time:7 Sounds like we pretty much spent it in the same way except we had Italian, lol! So glad you leg is feeling better.
Cathy-I used to lift right after a run as well, but then found I got much better results, (was more enthusistic about lifting, could lift more, got better returns) if I ate breakfast first and took some time to let you body recover and replenish my glycogen stores. Maybe a slump is a good thing?;-)
Carole-I'm so glad to hear about you nephew! I've been keeping up reading your posts and keeping him in my thoughts. :D I can't believe you're getting an elliptical? Sarah and Elaine must have done something to you...:p
Laurie-Soooo jealous of the beach! Are you using preventative measures on the chaffing? Put the BodyGlide wherever you even think that you MIGHT chaff---better safe than sorry. Just plain deodorant covered in a layer of vaseline works pretty well in most places too as sometime BG can get expensive when you have to put it in so many places, LOL;-)
Hey to all my other cheetahs!
Laura, Shelly, Christine, Thomasina (so sorry I missed your post earlier!) Elaine, Barb, Barbara, Patricia and anyone else I may have missed!
I ran 6.45 miles yesterday (a new very hilly but beautiful course) w/ CM #1 and today I'm doing a full body weight workout. Not sure which one yet, maybe the GS mishmosh that someone posted on the Rotation Forums awhile ago.
Have a great day!
Mattea
Christine! We did it again! What a cool afternoon:7 My DH plays the guitar, so I guess I know exactly how your DD feels;-) Sounds like some major weights today! Glad to hear your hand is feeling better. If you really want pikes do that killer abs punishment at the end of PUB!
Good morning to all my cheetahs:)
Judy I am glad that your daughter is home safe. I hope your hips is feeling better soon.
Wendy yes I know that the instructor had know right doing that. Next time I will speak up. Have fun with Ripped and your class tonight.
Carole I am so glad that your nephew had a better weekend. Must be all the prayers.
Laura iClimb is really fun IMO. It's like your own personal trainer telling you what to do and the music is pretty good. Time does fly by.
Jess so glad that you had a fun weekend alone with hubby.
Laurie glad to hear that the weather was nice at the beach. Too bad the waves weren't big enough though.
Hello to Christine, Cathe, and Marcia.
Well today I did GSC&T. Everytime I do this boy my arms shake at the end. I guess thats a good thing.
I love love love mine!!! Can't imagine running/ biking w/out it! It tells you your pace/ time/ distance/ cals burned, you know exactly your mileage for the day/ week/ month. You can download the info onto your computer, etc. TOTALLY worth it if you run outdoors at all!! You know you want to..... *insert evil laugh*
No, seriously, I've had mine for a year (actually, that was my anniversary present last year, so exactly a year!) and I use it almost daily!!
Hugs,
