Cheetahs Mon. 11/27

That is AWESOME, Christine!! I'm sooo happy to hear that!! *happy dance* I'm sure you were so relieved!! Thanks for letting us know!

Jes- I was in clean mode for a couple of hours this morning too.

Weddy- Happy Dance for your knee! Keep us posted with the new rotation. Will you keep up the running with it?

Elaine- I started running outside last March and it was cold then. However, I have yet to run outside below 20 degrees. I'll just have to play it by ear. But I'm guessing on very windy and very cold days I'll opt for a treadmill run.

Christine--Great news!!! That is such a relief. I am so glad for you. :)

Hi Cheetahs! I haven't caught up with all the posts but it sounds like everyone has had great workouts and happy TG days. There were really new TM at the hotel -- with fancy computer screens and I loved using them. No outdoor running because the hotel was not in a great location.

Wendy--great job on your race!!! I used the iTreads, too, when I was travelling and thought they were great. Which ones are you using? I like iTread 9 on days I want to go "fast" whatever that means for me.

Shelly C-- wow! A long run and Cathe answered your post. Too cool!

Judy--I'm going to try the pie this week. I did not bring chic peas in my pocket but used Amy's nondairy black bean burritos as the vegan travel solution...it worked ok.

I'll post more later but here are some quick highlights from the big TG weekend with DH's family.
Overall it was positive -- nice for my kids to connect with their cousins.
But my MIL & SIL are just whacko. My DH lost it on Friday night and had one too many Gin & Tonics and ended up watering his nutty sister's plants on the front porch. It was therapeutic for him, I think.

Quite amusing.....Luckily, DH and I managed to get along well amidst the family craziness.

My SIL literally put out dog food in dixie cups for an appetizer Fri. night??? to be funny? She is just so odd sometimes. She served food Fri. night with dog in one arm?? Even my kids were grossed out.

We had a great time seeing other parts of DH's family and we saw my brother, who let my kids cut down coconuts from a tree in his yard. I tried to stay in an unstressed state and obsess about what workout I was going to do the next morning.

Hi & hugs to everyone--
-Barb
:) :) :)

Christine, So glad to hear that everything is ok!

Barb, are you serious? She really put actual dog food in dixie cups?!

Elaine, My podiatrist gave me a sheet of exercises, which I was already doing. I am sleeping with a splint and cortisone. I think that's all. Oh yea, he told me to buy a certain kind of thing to stick in my shoes. I can't think what you call those things right now! I think I am losing my mind!

Hey I have a question for all you running cheetahs. I need to buy new running shoes soon. My doc says I have really high arches. Anybody else have this problem? Anyone know of a good shoe for this. I have been wearing new balance but I don't know about the arch support. I guess I'll ask him for any suggestions on thursday but I don't think he's a runner soooo... if any of you have any suggestions on brands... let me know. Thanks
LD

LD--I think at Runnersworld.com you can search for shoes based on your foot shape. I think NB are good for flat feet (like me). I wear ASICS and love them.

I was serious about the dog food: she is an odd duck. The thing about my family life, is that truth is stranger than fiction...

She put the dog food into little rinse-your-mouth dixie's and put them on a little butler statue :9 -- a little model butler guy with a tray...it was supposed to be a joke, I think, but it was just out to lunch....

Christine....so glad to know things are well with you!!!!

My morning was not so fun. I went to town to do errands before my workout. I was going thru a yield sign and my car stalled. I put on my emergency break and as I was just about to restart my car WHAM!!! A big Chevy plows right into the back of my car. Well, thank god he was a nice calm guy and he felt awful. I called the police and filed a report. He did have insurance. Now it is just the inconvenience of getting a rental and my car fixed. My nephew, my Chiro wants me also to come in for X-Rays just in case...I feel fine. But I believe a forced rest day is in order....darn....x(

Carole,
Oh my goodness. That is horrible. I am glad you are okay. That is good that the guy was nice. Some of these crazy people on the road have an attitude whenever anything like that happens, even when it is their fault. I would say you deserve a rest day after all of that.
How convenient that your nephew is a chiro.

Barb, Thanks alot for those links. I looked at them and realize that I have probably been buying the wrong shoes. I always thought that I needed alot of stability and these say I need midsole cushioning. Well I might not be explaining that right but I think that maybe the last shoes I bought might have been bad for me. Anyway, this weekend I am going to go to a specialtly running store and try on some shoes. I noticed that Brooks has several shoes for my foot type and in track and cross country in high school that is always what I bought. I think I might try those again. Anyway thanks alot for the links!
LD

Carole--So sorry to hear about the car Wham....How big was the Chevy? At least he was nice, but what a pain to have to deal with this. Does anything on your body hurt or are you just getting an xray just to be safe?
-Barb

LD -- glad the shoe links helped. I hope some new ones help your feet. I wore motion control shoes for a long time until I found out I didn't need that level of support and various aches and pains got better as a result.

Good Evening Cheetahs! I'm finally back for some personals....:)

Christine: Great news about the biopsy! You must feel like a giant weight has been lifted off of you! I am sooo happy you can relax now. I'm glad that you }( enjoyed }( the leg blast premix!BWHAHAHAH!;)

Mattea: The TM went well and my knee is fine. Thank goodness. I just ordered the last of the Christmas Eve gifts this morning. Now it's Christmas Day shopping that needs to get done.

LD: Good for you that your shopping is done! Enjoy DM today? }(

Laura: Sorry about the ugly turn of events over the weekend for you. I hope those boys get the care they need.

Judy: The coffee pot in my avitar is just there as a joke since I LOVE coffee sooo much and always talk about drinking it when I'm on the forums. I will soon replace it w/something Christmasy. There's nothin' special about the coffee pot except that it's a one cup make which I prefer since I am the only coffee drinker in my house. Keeps my coffee from burning before I can drink it all. :9 Oh and the new rotation I am starting is based on 3 days of running and 3 weight days using the GS series. Beyond that if I want to add any more cardio in then it'll be a last minute decision.

Elaine: I think I have seen ornaments made from sand dollars before though I don't quite remember what they looked like. I'm sure you and your DD will have fun figuring out how to make them. :) I know what you mean about the eating thing. I've been struggling with my diet lately as well.

Susan: A cookie exchange party with wine!?!? Time, date and address please! I'll be there! ;) Glad your sciatica is behaving today.

Sunny: The Itread I did today is a 60 min one and it's called Indoor Marathon Training. It should be easy to find. }(

Jess: Hope you had fun decorating! When ya get done cleanmaxxing at your place you are more then welcome to come over here and do some as well!;)

Barb: I don't recall the #s of the other Itreads I have. I have a 20, a 40 and a 60 min one. The 60 min is labeled as "indoor marathon training". I just do it cause it's tough and fun! Love the variety!}( Glad you enjoyed the fancy new TM on your trip!

Carole: Sorry about your accident. What a bummer! I am just glad that no one was hurt!

I previewed alot of the P90X work outs today. Looks interesting! I have not previewed AbRipperX but intend to "just do it" tonight cause I need to do abs anyway! }(

Have a great night ladies!

LD, Yep, if you've got high arches you need a cushion shoe. DH and I both wear that type. I've been wearing Nike Air Max Moto 4's. I've tried others but have come back to these everytime. My DH wears Mizuno Wave Rider 7's.

Ok. One other question.. LOL I know I have posted alot today but hey I am lonely my DH is out of town. My DH asked me what I want for Christmas. The Garmin is kind of expensive. Do any of you have a cheaper version that is good or do I really need that one? Thanks all and I'll try not to bug y'all the rest of the week even though he won't be back till thursday night!
LD;-) or is it
:-( lol

Christine, I am so happy and relieved that it is just calcifications that you are dealing with. I have one too and had to go back every 6 months for three different visits to see if there were any changes, of which there were none. I'm running a marathon this weekend. I could probably have fun with blaming your not knowing on your blondness but I won't do that to you! You didn't know because I didn't tell you!!:7

Carole, So sorry about the accident and I'm very glad that you were not hurt! Except for the headache of dealing with all of the hassles, that is.

Wendy, I hate burned coffee too so I have one of those that brews into a thermos instead of sitting on a hot plate. DD and I might figure out something crafty to do with the sand dollars but then the problem is going to be that they tend to stink for a while.

Jess, I see that you are busy as usual and glad to hear you had a nice holiday with your family.

Barb, Dog food, huh? Hmmm. Can't say I've experienced that one but I could probably still trade you story for story. All of my family members that lived in the area, except my best brother and his family, moved back east about 7 years or so ago. After the crazy ones were gone is when my brother and I found out what sane family get togethers are like!

Elaine--a sane family get together would be great. I bet you could match these stories with some good ones. One year some of the crazier relatives couldn't attend the annual TG get together and it was much nicer. At this point, we all laugh about the weirdness, because what else can you do?? Good luck on your marathon this weekend.:) :)

LD--the Polar RS series has a footpod instead of the GPS unit the Garmin has. I have both (sucker for gadgets) and think the Garmin is better for mileage tracking hands down. But I like all the other features on the Polar and other Polar HR monitors better. I'm sure you'll get good advice from other Cheetahs. Don't worry about the posts -- that's the fun of this! Post away!!!

Barb
:)

Runnergirl go to a speciality running store they will take good care of you. They put me in Etonics and I LOVE THEM!! They were well worth the $100.00. Also keep the miles on your shoes as they tend to wear out after 500 miles.

Today I did Drill Max. Lord have Mercy! What an excellent workout. I also got my replacement Cardio Kicks/Circuit Max DVD and my cathe tee-shirt today.

Tomorrow a 3 mile run for me.
