GOOD MORNING CHEETAHS!:)

Dallas: I am teaching an after school session of advanced studies one hour per week. It is for students who score well on their standardized tests. They also have to be tested by the school psychologist to be admitted into the program. We are doing a mock election this year. It should be really fun!

Christine: Great job on the ride!

Karen: Thank you for the kind words. I know you are just as tired as I am. Teaching is not an easy job.

Cath: What are your thoughts on performance pay for teachers?

Jackie: It was great sleeping in. No biggie on the run, made it up yesterday. Nice getting in the 6.1 miles!

I am up at a ridiculously early hour. Not sure what I will do. I really liked my Imax blast premix day a few weeks ago, so I think I might do just that. Have a great day everyone! :)

Good morning, cheetahs! :)

Gloria, I'm joining you at a ridiculously wee hour, but at least I made to 3 this time. Still, I imagine I'll pay the price later.

Wendy :: Well, we haven't been back at work long enough to be in a grind yet :), but it was a worthwhile in-service. Yeah, I was looking forward to a run in the rain while it was relatively light, but it was too heavy by the time I made it home. We were only expected to have showers in this area, but it was sunny and muggy all day. Not a drop. Enjoy your long run today--we'll be running together. How are your toe and knee this morning? How did you manage to bruise your toe? Did you trip on a curb? How was your hang with BF?

Judy :: sounds like an intense ride!...Ditto on the bunion here. Do you do anything for yours that seems to help?

Christine :: that is something that struck me at the time (9/11)...the outpouring of support and solidarity that was expressed worldwide...I saw some J-41s while out shopping yesterday, but they were more casual than what I was looking for and weren't that cute like the pair you posted for us. Here's what I found yesterday:
th_clarkshoe.jpg

Clark's (black)

th_sofftshoe.jpg

Sofft (black) - never tried this brand before, but like the Clark's, these had added cushioning

th_nadineshoe.jpg

Aigner (brown)

Oh, wow--that sounds like a helluva ride! WTG! I think I know that feeling of what-the-heck-have-I-gotten-myself-into very well!
th_biggrin-1.gif
*lol* But I think I have gotten past that now, which is a relief. Sorry about the catastrophe in the downstairs bathroom!

Gloria :: I am sure you are right--reacclimating to standing all day is part of it, but my feet are bothering me a little more than usual. Don't know if it is partly the marathon training and then just the issues I have with the one foot. But I did buy 3 new pairs of shoes yesterday :)) :) :)) that look like they might be more gentle on the feets. Will PM you shortly with some shop talk about challenges. :) Hope you enjoyed your run yesterday. Performance pay? Well, this is not something I think about usually--generally, I'm just happy to get paid for something I love doing! BUT I will say it has crossed my mind before that it doesn't seem totally fair that we earn the same exact salary based upon # of years, regardless of effort, whether you work 40 hours or 60. However, I would be strongly opposed to performance pay. Measure that by what--test scores? Please. I don't believe that salary or funding should be tied to scores. In NJ, we have gone from testing kids in 4th, 8th, and 11th to now testing them every year. More testing does not equal more learning. I think the data should be used to inform instruction, and that's it. There are too many variables at play. I'm in a better socioeconomic district than I was before. Kids generally do well here. There might be 1% of kids who receive free and reduced lunch. In my former district, those numbers were in the double digits and climbing every year. I don't think it's fair to my former colleagues that they might be punished because, in one year's time, they couldn't jack up the scores enough. As we know, kids don't learn at the same rate. It doesn't mean that valuable work wasn't done in the classroom just because the scores on one test may not reflect it. I'm a believer in the idea that it takes a village. And if you work in a district where many of the students are disadvantaged, you may not have the stellar test scores, but by no means does that suggest you are not teaching your heart out. Chances are, you are working even harder in those districts because you're doing a lot of surrogate parenting. Oh, I could go on. Sorry you opened that can o' worms? *lol*

Linda :: oh, duh!
th_brainfuzz.gif
Forgive me. I forgot your marathon is almost a month after mine. That is exactly what I have been doing on cutback weeks--shooting for somewhere between 10-13. I considered pushing it up a little more this week--like going for 13-16, but I got a migraine last night, and that helped me decide. :) Will you keep your cutback weeks to that or will you increase a little when you get closer to the marathon? I have no idea what is even out at the movies right now. How was it? I have to chuckle along with you at the concept of "short long runs." It is funny how our perspective has changed now, huh? Have a great run today!

Jackie :: it's funny you should say that...I was thinking of trying a reflexology massage sometime soon. Have you ever had one of those? I am scheduled for a regular Swedish next Sunday afternoon...So, after all this talk about dogs, you had a four-legged partner yesterday? Great job pushing through your 6.1. Enjoy today's rest day.

Dallas :: The TJ's by me is always NUTSO unless you go first thing in the morning...are you almost settled in your BTS routine?

I believe that catches me up. :)

Yesterday morning, I had to wait for a FedEx delivery (sig required), so I couldn't run first thing. Had no idea it was going to get so stinkin' humid! I changed up the plan and did an EXT-based circuit using LIC and the abs from C&W. Near the end of my workout, a migraine came on. Please, this is gettin' old, isn't it? *lol* I finished and still made it out to dinner later. I'm about fed up with these things and am determined not to let it cut into my life. I will take it nice & easy on today's long run, though, aiming for somewhere in the 10-12 range.

BTW, Posh says hi!

Have a wonderful Sunday!

Mornin' Chickadees!:)

Had a nice night with BF. We ended up heading to Champps restaraunt in the local mall by BF where we had dinner and drinks and then did some shopping. I ate really badly. First we split a chicken quesadilla appy, then we each ordered a meal and and lastly we shared a dessert. In addition I had 3 mixed drinks! Great example the trainer from hell sets for her client, ey? It sure was yummy though! :p They do not have a nutrtion info site so I'm outta luck there. I can't even BEGIN to GUESS how to input the crap I ate! I felt guilty about it for a time but I am officially over it now. ;)

So I am pleasantly surprised at the mild DOMS I have from yesterday's work out. This work out might be a good quick way for me to sneak in working each body part a second day while finishing out my CTX rotation. Because it's split up into 4 rounds, it's easy to shorten if need be too.

Today's work out will be the run that didn't happen y'day. I haven't decided wether I will take it outside or to the gym. It really depends on what time I get my arse movin'....

Obviously I never had time to get back here y'day so I will catch up on personals now...BBIAB with them. :)

Sunday fun

Hello Friends :)

Cathy- I have been referring to the book, Instant Relief, Tell Me Where it Hurts and I'll Tell You What to Do, by Peggy Brill. I went back to it to see if I had forgotten about any PF stretches and stumbled upon the bunion stretches. Cute Shoes! I have been wearing flats and cross trainers or running shoes consistently, unless we are out to dinner. I realize at hockey tournaments, I stand up for the whole game, so flats or running shoes have helped there also. In two weeks we visit DD in Manhattan, ( big walking weekend) I hope to be able to wear cute shoes at least at night! did you nip the migraine early?

Gloria-Karen- Cathy- If you haven't read this before, I'll repeat it. I have a high respect for teachers and value the work and effort that is required prior to class time. (I taught for a very short time) The years that I spent volunteering in the kids' classroom gave me an appreciation for teachers, and I learned a few little parenting tricks along the way.

Christine- !!wow!! What a ride! I do not think potato chips would have sat well either.

Dallas- I am at a loss... BTS routine?

Linda- how was the movie?

Carole- did Mom enjoy her printed e-mails?

Wendy- Did you and BF have a pleasant visit? any Coronas consumed? ;)

Today I'll be doing a full body WO of sorts (maybe a circuit if I use the EXT for the cardio) After mass and lunch I will attempt to do the 'Monday Clean Max Routine' for two reasons. 1. There will be major smelly laundry when the boys return from the tournament, and 2. Stanley Steamer is scheduled to clean our carpets tomorrow.

Ta Ta

Good morning cheetahs

Cathy...Wow, you did get up early yesterday, glad you got back to sleep. You know, I think I saw a PC screen in the hallway of the rehab place. I guess I should ask if the patients can use it and if it has online accsess. Nope, no fish for me friday as I did not go, but none for DH either...:(..Cute shoes, I like the 1st ones. Sorry about the migraines...are you still seeing a Chiro regularly? Enjoy your 10-12 miles today.

Gloria...yes, my Mom does like her emails. Sorry you were a bit frazzled friday. I bet it was one busy week getting back to school. Good job with the 6 mile TM run yesterday. Have fun with your Imax premix.

Wendy...I posted yesterday at 5:20AM, which is about the normal time for me to be here, no, not super early. You were just late!!...:D..Enjoy your run today.

Judy...yes Mom enjoyed the emails I shared with her. Have fun with your full body workout today.

Karen...good job with 2 miles on the TM and driveway repeats yesterday...:)...YUM, roasted marshmallows!!! Sorry you guys could not have them, I bet the Ice Cream worked well.

Linda...nah, you east coasters were just late yesterday...:)..What movie did you watch last night?

Christine..I agree that Beau will not be a "big" lab. He does seem to be getting tall. yes, they do seem to sense the camera...:). Sounds like a brutal ride. Glad DD's BF made it with you. I bet it feels great going downhill after that tough uphill climb. Wow, sorry about the flooding. I bet that was a mess...glad it stayed out of the house.

Jackie...I did have a good workout and visit with my Mom. I got her to eat some of her "Goldfish" crackers, but I had to have some to do it!! I do think increasing your miles can also increase the appetite. Way to go on the 6.1 miles when you were tired. Funny, I have run with neighborhood dogs a few times. I saw this cute littel chiuahua cross the other day. He seemed friendly and started to follow me, I kept yelling at him to stay as I did not want him to get hit by a car (my biggest fear with loose dogs). I went back another way so I could avoid him.

Dallas...sorry abiut all the rain and flooding. I hope you and your family stay safe. Sounds like an interesting church challenge...:)...My mish mosh was an Amy premix of ITR, after combo & int 1 I then did the walking lunges from B&G, I also did the lunges after combo & int 3, and then finished with combo & int 4. Nice little sweatfest. I also added B&G abs. No, I dod not get Rumble. I am not too bad getting up at 4:30, but I am sure the kids would soon wear me out if I had your schedule!!

Now today I am up early...4:20. My sister is planning a work party at my Moms, so she wants to run about 6AM...In the dark!! It'll be fun wearing my headlamp again!! I am shooting for about 14-15 miles. Our friend will join us at 7AM.

Have a great day...:)

Trying so hard to get motivated today and clean the house and do the laundry. Today is a rest day other then the above mentioned. It so HOT I can't take it. All time high today at 95. In two days it should be in the 70's. Come on fall.

Karen - I'm with ya on the fall season! It's sticky humid here too. I had to put on the air~ that is practically a sin in September in western NY! But like you I will be cleaning and I have already showered!

Work out is done yay! ext 25 minutes at steady but challenging pace ( tried to make it similar to a short tempo run) and total body premix of Drill Max. I forgot I need to get lunch food for the week so it is off to Wegmans after mass.

Good Morning Cheetahs!

Jackie – As I told Linda – I guess we’re all a little crazy in Cheetahville. I think we all love a challenge and endurance challenges come with a bit of pain! Sorry your run was tough yesterday morning and that your neighbor’s dog decided she should keep you company! Enjoy your rest day today.

Dallas – yep, can walk today, my hamstrings aren’t even too sore. I’ll bet if I tried to lift, though! :p How does my bum handle it? I have a great saddle and wear padded shorts. If you’re going to ride distance on a bike, investing in a good saddle is paramount! Hope the rain lets up.

Karen – you’re sweet! I appreciate the complements on my riding. Sorry the kiddos couldn’t roast marshmallows. I love doing that. Hope they enjoyed the ice cream!

Gloria – enjoy your Imax blast premix!!

Cathy – oooh, cute shoes!!!! I know Cole Haan makes some shoes with Nike Air cushioning, too – but they are about $300. The people I know with them, though say that their 3” heels are more comfortable then some of their flipflops. I can certainly imagine that you’ve gone through the what-the-heck-have-I gotten-myself-into! I’m sure next weekend’s ride will be great, but I’m hurting just thinking about it. :p Hope the run is nice and the migraines stay FAAARRR away!

Wendy – ooh, your dinner sounds fabulous! Think of it as letting your client know that it’s okay to let loose every once in a while. That’s an important lesson to learn, seriously.

Judy – Enjoy your full body circuit. Oooh, having your carpets cleaned! Don’t you LOVE that fresh clean feeling from that? Yeah, the potato chips were a bad idea in hind sight. I was thinking the salt would help. It didn’t. :p

Carole – I woke up at 6AM and thought it was way too dark to get up! Good job getting up and running in the dark and 14-15 miles! Wow!!! Have fun! At about Beau’s age, Jimmy went through a spurt where he was ALL legs! His breeder called it their Claudia Shiffer phase. ;) He grew into them, but I was afraid he would be HUGE for a while.

Judy and Karen – I’m with ya too on the fall thing! I’m ready for cooler temps!!!

Fortunately, we called a local plumbing company (after Roto Rooter came out, spent 5 minutes and basically said they did not “feel” like doing the work!:eek::eek: I will never use them again!) and fixed the back up. All is back to normal. The guy who came was great – very personable and explained everything thoroughly. We have to leave by 10AM in order to get to Napa in time for our 1PM walk through of our new condo, and I have to make Kimo’s food this morning. I’m hoping to get in some yoga as well. I’m actually feeling pretty good this morning. Legs are not sore and I got a great nights sleep. Hope everyone has a great day!

it's a blazing inferno out there!!

Back from my "long" run, but let me respond to personals first...

Judy :: thanks for the tip. I will check that one out on Amazon. I do not know how folks walk around Manhattan in heels! I was able to nip the migraine well enough that I could go out to dinner, so if it doesn't interfere too much with what I want to do, I don't get too disgruntled. Still feel a little "off," but if it's going to happen, I'd rather take my lumps on the weekend. Hope you enjoyed your circuit. I didn't realize you taught for a time, too. Thanks for your kind words.

Carole :: that would be great for your mom--incentive to get up and move around, too...All 3 of the shoes look a little dowdy in the pics, IMO, but they are actually cute on. I hope sturdier heels and the extra cushioning help. Oh, I'm sorry--I must've misread. Thought you said you were going fishing...How's the smoke situation?...I go to the chiro every 2 weeks. Last time I was there she found some kind of knot in my neck which she theorized might have contributed to the migraine. I will let her know I had another. I thought of you while I was running today. I'd planned to do 11, and I kept hearing this little Carole voice telling me I should shoot for 14-15-16. *lol* Alas, I didn't even make 11 (see below).

Christine :: If that's the case, a pair of Cole Haans might be a splurge that's well worth it! Come to think of it, I have a wealthy friend who has mentioned them in the past, but of course, because of the price, I never gave it a second thought. However, I have seen them at our local shoe "warehouse," which is where I went yesterday. It's row upon row of discounted brand name shoes. I'll have to take a closer look next time...Oh, I wish I would go through a Claudia Schiffer phase! *lol* Instead, I got the Oompa Loompa.

This morning, it stayed so dark, I thought rain seemed imminent, or at least it appeared I'd enjoy my run under cloud cover. So I didn't rush out. I watched the PBS Team Nova program, which is really interesting and inspirational, and then headed out close to 8-ish. Well, the sun broke through, and within the first mile, I was completely drenched. I mean, it is a scorcher out there. About mile 8, I decided I was cooked and I cut it short. So, I wound up doing 9-and-a-quarter. How in heck 9-and-some-change can be more difficult than 20 is beyond me. *lol* But oh well. I'll take it. Now to start praying for that fall weather...

Hope everyone is enjoying their Sunday!

Hey Girls.

I was able to get in 5.81 miles outside this morning. I ran at a good clip but took quite a few quick walking breaks for water. The run felt much better then wednesday's. That's for sure. My knee is fine and my toe, although not healed, was okay too. I was aware of it through the run but it wasn't painful. I wondered if I'd have to duck behind a tree or a bush or hightail home a couple of times during my run due to some mild intestinal distress I was feeling at times. I was afraid it might get bad. Thank goodness it didn't. It would have been my own fault though as I got there pretty quickly after eating a bowl of cereal. I think it was too much food too close to a run.

Christine: I can't believe Rotor Rooter didn't "feel like" doing the job! WTH is that all about!?!? So is you condo completed now? How fun to do a walk through. Are you excited to see it? :) Great job on your ride with DD's BF y'day. How great that the 2 of you ride together. That's so cool. You must to be considered a COOL MOM by your DD's friends. Am I right? :)

Judy: Nice work out today. I remember doing the tb pm of dm after a 5 mile run on the tm quite some time back. OMG, I thought I'd die! LOL No CL's yesterday but I DID indulge is some pricey mixed drinks. I should have asked how much they cost before I decided to have THREE of them! LOL Oh well. They sure were yummy though. :)

Karen: Sorry your motivation is lacking for the housework. I get it though. Sometimes I'll clean just cause I'm bored or I actually feel like it and other times there is NOTHING that will make me wanna do it. BLECH. LOL Laundry is the most hated chore for me though. Sorry about the heat. I don't blame you for wanting the cooler temps. I'm ready as well.

Carole: LOL you are right. I DID oversleep y'day. :) So you get up before the sun every morning pretty much? Running in the dark doesn't make you nervous? How'd the run go? I see you are really picking up your mileage these days. Any thoughts of racing or just doing it for fun and fitness?

Cathy: Hope you had a good run this morning. My knee is fine today thank goodness. My toe is doing the black toenail thing again. YUCK! It's not actually BLACK but it is greying and it was very painful to put any pressure on it y'day. Today it feels much better though it's still unattractive to look at. :p All of the shoes are way cute though I think I like the middle pair best because they are a little different looking. :)

Gloria: Enjoy IMAX'ing today....or whatever you choose to do for a work out. Sounds like you are excited about the new class you will be teaching. Hope it is as great as you expect it to be. :)

Off to find some food.

Hope to BBL!

Cathy: We were posting at the same time. Isn't that funny how a shorter run can feel so much more difficult at times? I'm sure it was the weather conditions that caused that to happen. I headed out around 8 as well so we were definately running "together" this morning for a while...:)

Good morning Cheetahs!

Dallas - How's the weather there today? The church challenge sounds like so much fun. I'm not running with friends for the St. Jude. I'll register for the half as soon as I finish my post. However, my boss is running the full mary. I can register for $40 if I do it today. I'd rather pay the $40 now and decide not to do the race than to pay $70 when I know I want to do it. And, it's for a good cause. So, I want feel bad about giving $40. I'm using Hal Higdon's training schedule. I like his because his tempo runs aren't as long as some of the others I saw.

Karen - Sorry the fire ring didn't work. Hmmm, ice cream is a good substitute for marshmallows. Enjoy your rest day.

Gloria - You were up early. What workout did you decide on?

Cathy - Another one up early. The shoes are cute. Bet those Clarks would be very comfortable. I've never had a reflexology massage. I know how my feet feel when they massage them though. I'm sure a full foot massage would be heaven. Yeah, usually the dog just watches me pass by. She was playing with a dog (her neighbor) within an invisible fence. She saw me and I guess she wanted to play. It's the same dog that would come to my house while it was being built and take the workers stuff. She's friendly but I didn't want to play. Oh, no on another migraine. Hope it's better and didn't interfere with your run. Sorry you had to cut your run short. Some days we have it in us and some days not especially if the weather is not agreeable.

Wendy - Glad you enjoyed your time with BF. How's she coming along? Nothing wrong with enjoying your dinner and having what you want sometimes. You're back on track today, I'm sure. Have a good run.

Judy - Good job on the EXT and DM premix!

Carole - Haven't had Goldfish crackers in ages. I'm always afraid of the dogs getting hit by cars too. I hate people thinking they're mine and I need to get them out of the road. Remember, when I first started running, I'd have 3 to follow me. I eventually started going the other direction so they wouldn't see me. Hope you had a good 14 - 15 miler.

Christine - Yeah, that's it, we're crazy here but a good crazy. :p I think I was reading in RW or somewhere that if you didn't have some pain during running, then you're not a true runner. I beg to differ though. Glad you got the plumbing fixed. Only used Roto Rooter once and that was at work. They couldn't fix the problem but the local plumber did. Guess that says a lot about using a small company versus the big one sometimes. Have fun walking through the new condo.

Rest day for me and I need it. My alarm went of 3 times last night. It rained and the winds were so strong, it kept making the alarm go off. After the third time, I just disarmed it. The security company called and stayed on the line with me while I checked everything out. Realized it was just the winds. Still think the company needs to check it out because if I'm not home and it happens, it will cause false alarms. The first time it went off scared me to death. Needless to say, I've been awake since 3 am and feel like a zombie now. May try to sneak a short nap in. Can't be long though because it will interfere with sleeping tonight. The winds are dying down some now.

Enjoy your Sunday!

Morning Cheetahs!

Today is a rest day. It's so dreary and rainy though, I probably should do something. You never know. ;)

Jackie ~ I would completely freak out if the alarm went off in the middle of the night. That was good the alarm company stayed on the phone with you. Oh dear! We've gotten a ticket for a helium balloon setting the thing off while we were gone. Guess you're getting Ike's fury before us, huh?!?! I'm sure it will settle down before it gets here. The bottom of our driveway is flooding. Still raining.... You're right - your marathon is for a great cause. :) I think the church challenge will be enlightening. :)

Wendy ~ Glad the run was uneventful. Hate when my tummy starts giving me trouble on a run. Or when you need a bathroom and there's none to be found! Sounds like you had a fun night out at Champps. My dd loves those quesadillas. :)

Cathy ~ WTG on your 9.25 mile run! I like the shoes you posted too. Do your feet throb when you go to bed at night? That's how mine feel and I'm not logging anywhere near your miles. It was nice running under cloud cover yday, but I was still drenched. You could send some heat this way! ;)

Christine ~ Did your friend fair as well as you re: DOMS? I can't believe a company actually said that they didn't want the work?!?! A new condo? I know I missed something now??? Enjoy your day.

Judy ~ I wrote that one down. DM - total body premix. I don't think I've tried that one yet. BTS, back-to-school routine. Right, Cathy?;) I had to think about it at first. We need our carpets cleaned too. Good luck getting it all done today.

Carole ~ Wrote that mish mosh down too. :) yeah, you're right getting up is usually ok, but trying to stay awake through dinner/homework gets tricky. How did your run go?

Gloria ~ The mock election should be fun for the students. It should really help them learn the process. Thanks for explaining the AS. Sounds like your excited about it. :)

Karen ~ Bummer about the fire ring and no marshmallows for the kids. I know exactly how you feel about the up/down of your situation. It's mentally and physically exhausting. Between my mil and dh it's been hard over here too. :( (((HUGS)))

Hi to Shelly, Wendi, Posh, Linda, Lorie and Sunny!

Have a great Sunday.

Helllllllllllllloooooooooooooooo ladies!

Gosh, I missed you gals!!! Between my crazy busy schedule as of late and a few rather heated arguments with my computer I haven't even been able to get on to read up on the goings on around the den:mad::(. I feel so out of it. As it is I only have a minute here before I squeeze in my workout for today (Imax 2 and 3 step combos only...needed something fun that's not going to kill me in this heat since I don't have A/C). Too bloody hot to do anything at the farm so I snuck home and figured I could get *something* in before going back to feed tonight.

I *hope* to get catch up tomorrow morning though but just wanted to say how much I miss you all and hope everyone is doing fabulously. Off to get good 'n sweaty:D....

TTFN!

Christine...running in the dark was not bad, it was not dark for long. Yes, Beau does look tall, but I never thought he looked like he would get huge. I cannot believe a company like Roto Rooter (or any company for that matter) would say that they did not feel like doing the work?? WTH? A new Napa condo sounds fun! Glad you are not too sore today from that bike ride.

Cathy...The smoke seems to be gone, thankfully. I am just thinking more visits to the Chiro could help with your migraines? LOL about Oompa Loompa! About your run today, when it gets hot and humid I can only imagine running would get very hard. I wouldn't worry about only going 9 and a bit, your body does need some shorter runs too...:)

Wendy...good job with the 5.81 mile run. Glad the knne and toe are fine. yes, I do get up before the sun most mornings. I am just happy to be picking up my mileage as I have always loved distance running. No races real close but hopefully some long races next year.

Jackie...that sounds not fun about your alarm going off so much last night! Hope the company can look into that for some fixes. I hope you can get in a nap as the zombie feeling is never fun.

Dallas...as I got up way early today I might be asleep by dinner! My run went good this morning. It sure was nice and cool. Enjoy a nice rest day.

I ended up going 14 miles. The weather was nice and cool and now I am cold! Need a warm shower at halftime!

Hello again, cheetahs~ :)

Wendy :: Glad you enjoyed some time with BF. Champps can be a dangerous place to eat, I know! I went to my favorite Asian seafood place last night and threw caution to the wind myself, so you were not alone. I'm talkin', I went for the four-course special! :) Bang Bang Shrimp, Asian Pear Salad, Walnut & Ginger-crusted Salmon, and a Brownie. For the first time since using Cathe's program, I did not try to log that one in...I'm glad your knee is better. I get some twinges occasionally, too, but taking the Advil prior to runs of 10+ miles seems to keep that in check. Sorry 'bout the toenail. That is never fun...I'm glad you didn't have an emergency en route. I had the same experience the other day and was so relieved to make it home in one piece!!...I wasn't sure about that middle pair, but when I tried them on, they felt good and looked cuter than they did on display, I thought. Today (though I was not looking for more shoes), I found a REALLY cute pair:
th_snakeskin.jpg

They are pointy, so I probably won't wear these to school often, but they are really sharp on...Weather definitely contributed to a weaker run today. I do NOT hold up well when it's very humid. Basically, we lucked out with August being as mild as it was, for the most part. It seems not to have bothered you as much--that's good! Do you get a little ocean breeze at all?

Jackie :: I would schedule a reflexology massage, but my feet are not in the best shape these days. I have some stubborn callouses from training that are somewhat persistent. Used udder cream and some other stuff, but they're just not "ready for prime time" these days...That stinks about your alarm. I hope you were able to get in a refreshing nap.

Dallas :: What does BNS stand for? I've always been curious, but I forget to ask...A rest day on a dreary, rainy day sounds good to me. I will definitely trade ya weather! I would rather run in rain than the goop this morning...My feet only really throb after I take off my dress shoes...It's good to know that the training might be a part of it, though, and not just age! How is your stomach holding up these days?

Carole :: You could be right. I will talk to her on Friday morning when I see her next. Awesome job with the 14 miles! I smiled at the image of you running with a headlight on. Those things are cool. I tried to score one in our family gift swap on Christmas Eve, but no dice.

Hi Wendi, Karen, and everyone else stopping by, including our MIA probably ultra-busy cheetahs Shelly & Lorie!

Wendy- at least you had fun with the expensive drinks!

Cathy- I am a fan of Cole Haan shoes, especially the ones with Nike Air Fit Technology. Nike owns Cole Haan. My all time favorite shoe company is Stuart Weitzman. SW sells shoes in all widths and they are made extremely well. I am just retiring a pair of flats I bough in fall '02. They are a non trendy style called 'cream puff' that they are still selling! I'll see if I can post a link:.

they are great with jeans, pants and capris

Hey everyone! I am pretty late in checking in today, huh?

Dallas - You had asked yesterday if my friend and I stick together the whole time. Yes, we do. There have been a few times in a couple of races that I told her to go on, but she wouldn’t . Both times was when I was cramping. The “One Month to Live Challenge” sounds interesting!
We were supposed to be getting rain from Ike, but we have never got the first drop. And now, it looks like, other that high winds, we are going to get absolutely nothing. I just wish it would rain!!~

Karen - I am glad your knee did okay! It was 94 here today. It was sooo miserable!!! The humidity was horrendous, too! I agree….Come on Fall!!! I hate hot, humid weather with a passion! Enjoy your rest day!

Gloria - Hope you enjoyed your Imax Blast Premix! The Advanced Study class you are teaching sounds great! I am not a teacher, but I do know that it is definitely not an easy job!

Cathy - That is okay! Seriously, I am just confused as to what I should really be doing! So I sure do welcome advice and ideas! I was thinking of keeping my cutback weeks to around 10-13. But I have read sooo many different things! So, you increased your cutback weeks a bit, didn’t you? I guess that I should probably do that from now on, too. It sounds like your run was about as uncomfortable as mine! I am sorry it was so hot and humid for you! I agree, it is amazing how some shorter runs are so much more brutal than the really long ones! My run was in the most humid weather I have ever run in! Good job on yours!

Wendy - I am glad you had a good night with your BF! So, you liked Road Warrior? I will have to give mine a whirl! Good job on your run this morning! Glad your knee and toe Was okay!

Judy - The movie was really cute! It was Fly Me to the Moon….and even though it was a kid’s movie, I still enjoyed it a lot! Enjoy your circuit workout!

Carole - Oh!!! I got me a headlamp last year that I have never got to use! I always thought it would be cool to use it! J Great job on your 14 miles!! You are lucky having the cool weather!! You are really logging some miles lately! LOL….yup, I guess I was late getting up yesterday! ;)

Christine - That is nuts that Roto Rooter treated you like that! I am glad you were able to get the problem taken care of, though! I am glad the ride went well! It sounds great! (Especially the downhill!! ;) ). I am glad you aren’t sore! I agree with you on us loving challenges and them coming with some pain…or at least some discomfort! We’re a tough bunch of ladies! J

Jackie - Oh my! I am sorry about the rough night! I am glad there were no intruders in your house, though! I hope you were able to get some rest! I know what you mean about naps interfering with your sleep, though. Oh! That is great that you are registering for the ½!

Wendi - Hey there!! Missed you! Enjoy your Imax 2 and 3 combos!

Posh - Hey there!!!! HOpe you are doing well!

I ended up running 11 miles today. We were planning 10-12. It was sooo humid and hot. I have never in my life sweated as much as I did today. I am totally serious. ;( At one point I felt so overheated that I just stopped and told her I had to find some shade. We walked for about a minute and found a shaded street and I was okay. But still, we stopped at 11. Actually, even though it was so humid and hot, I felt strong, so at least that was good.

The movie last night was really cute. It was 3-D. My 2 DD’s and I were laughing and whispering back and forth during the movie. My little 3 year old grandson looked at us and whispered loudly “You guys please be quiet!”. It was so funny! He was sitting there with such a serious look on his face with his huge 3-D glasses on his tiny little head! J

I hope I didn’t miss anyone!!! Hey to everyone and hope everyone had a good day!

Linda

Cathy – Sorry for the humidity and heat! Ouch! Never fun to run in that stuff! I know what you mean about the Cole Haan. If I had a job where I was on my feet and had to dress nice, I would splurge. I know your feet would thank you! Not all Cole Haan shoes are Nike Air, so you have to check them out. CUTE shoes you got!!

Wendy – good job on the run!! Glad you did not have to duck behind the bushes! Yeah, I wasn’t happy with Roto-Rooter. They certainly will not be “invited” back. My DD’s friends are not quite sure what to think of me as I’m so different from all of the other mom’s.

Jackie – I hope the weather calms for you! Ouch! 3 times last night? That is too much! I would have disarmed it too, after a major panic attack wondering who was in the house! Yeah, I agree we’re good crazy. I don’t mind the kind of hurt I had yesterday – it was all muscle soreness. I don’t like the stuff that’s not muscle related! :p Yeah, Roto Rooter is useless. I’m sticking local.

Dallas – DD’s BF is tired, but I think he’s okay. I’m happy – but then again, he’s 16 – so he has that to his advantage. :DThe condo is our Napa condo – it’s a Westin property. Technically we own it, but they rent it out for us and furnish it. See below for more info.

Wendi! Always happy to hear from you! Hope your computer starts to act better!!

Carole – Great job on the 14 miles! It’s fall out there, isn’t it? Even Napa was cool today. I am sooo enjoying it! Did you see the 49ers? What a game. And the Pats are looking good! Wow!

Judy – I love Cole Haan shoes, too!

Linda – great job with the 11 miles in the humidity! Ouch! Too cute about your grandson and the movie! I’m glad you enjoyed it! Yeah, the downhill part of the ride is always the most fun. Especially as this one is literally 6 miles down a mountain – we hit 40 MPH a lot on the way down. *WWWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!* :D:D:D

Back from Napa, and we are thrilled. The condo is even better than we had hoped!! I cannot wait to be able to use it. And I’m so totally serious when I say we HAVE to do a GTG there. It sleeps 4. And I’m sure we could get a trundle or 2 there. The hostess was telling us that she leads a 3 mile run every morning through the town of Napa. And there is a weight room, too! No workout, but hey – I’ll get one in tomorrow. :p

PS - posted this on OD, but thought I'd repost here - amazing story - glad I don't commute by bike in Montana! http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/odd_bicyclist_vs_bear
