::: CHEETAHS ::: humptastic wednesday

A quick hello...then I need to get some work done for tomorrow, and then I will probably crash, to be honest. Workout-wise, I am disappointing myself this week.

Kath…DS sounds like quite the achiever! Mom’s gotta proud. :7 So do all the siblings take turns with MIL or do you and DH get most of the honors?

Christine…Congrats on the raise!

You are some mover and shaker in that place, huh? WTG!! Will you treat yourself to anything Posh-like as a reward? :7 Hope your allergies calm down some.

Carole…what a great idea on the hills…I can’t avoid them no matter which direction I go, so I may try your idea. Always felt a little silly doing repeats since the hills are on major roads…I’m pumped for Chicago for that reason, too. Seems like such a cool city. I thought it would serve as additional motivation to run it in a place I’d always wanted to visit.

Jackie…Saturday? That is great news to hear!! I really don’t know how you manage your workouts on so little sleep…I am completely zapped this week. I have to finish prepping tomorrow’s lesson, and then I’m not sure if anything’ll be left in the tank.

Wendy…I know a lot of people commemorate marathons with a tattoo…I had actually already pondered it…don’t know if I would go through with it altogether…however, I would never get a race finish time. IA the date is a better choice.

Posh…wtg on the 1st class flight arrangements! Lucky lady! I'll bet that will REALLY make a difference on the return flight.

Dallas…I don’t normally have chafing issues…sometimes with sports bras in the summer…this was a fluke thing with a pair of shorts I hate…that is really lousy what the parents were doing. Sorry they ruined it for everyone.

Hi to Sunny, Gloria, Lorie, Judy, and anyone else checking in.

Signing off,
Sleepy Cheetah

Hello ladies!

Just checking in after school.

Cathy: WOW! That is a lot of money spent. I have never calculated and now am afraid of what I would find out. It is the nature of the business. The PTO came through for us this year. They had a fundraiser and they put $400 in each teacher's activity account. We can use that to get reimbursed for things we buy, pay the money for field trips for kids who can't afford it, pay for the bussing to the field trip, etc. It helps. Without the PTO we wouldn't have anything. I'm sorry about your sleeplessness. I suffer from that at times and found a supplement called melatonin. I take that when I can't sleep and it really helps. It is right buy the vitamins at any store that sells them. With the way you have been sleeping you should not be beating your self up about working out. When you are exhausted and working out, it can lead to injury. You DO NOT want that when in training for your marathon. Give your body what it needs. You sound like a very dedicated person that just needs some rest. I have decided to charge for the tutoring, thanks for the advice! :) It is nice to have other teachers to "talk" to.

Wendy: I do not have any tattoos. I was going to get one in college, but my friend and I couldn't find the tattoo parlor. Then we kind of forgot about it. My friends are crazy about them though. They are Harley Davidson obsessed. They are a couple who found each other later in life and just designed their own matching tattoos and had it done on the back of their necks. It is actually a very cool design. I have lost some of my wild ways and would not get one done now. I am almost in tears and start hyperventilating when I get blood drawn! :) LOL! Couldn't handle that kind of pain.

Christine: I WILL be charging for the tutoring, not sure what yet though. Thanks for the advice! :) I am very glad you received the nice raise. Doesn't it feel great to be rewarded for your efforts? It always means a lot to me when a parent gives a compliment. We get a salary increase every year we teach. I hear you on the swearing at Cathe thing. When I did BC the other day she said "this is your last cycle." Outloud to the tv I said "THANK GOD!" I did the Gauntlet a few weeks ago and near the end when I thought it was over (only have done it twice) a whole new cycle started! I was like "YOU"VE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME! UUGH!" I think I will buy GS legs on payday this week! I'll be checking out Eion too. :) Cathe has NOT been a good thing to my budget!;-) See post below.

Jackie: So you are an early riser too! I get up at 4, but laze around and drink coffee until 5:30. I was wondering how you like those Istrength workouts? My Ipod is full (4g) and all I have on it are Itreads! x(

Sunny: Wow, 3 classes! You must be a woman of steel! :) Thanks for the info. re: afterburn.

Posh: This cheetah has only walked past the first class seats to coach longingly! :) Sounds like you are one busy lady!

Dallas: I do not know anything about curly hair. x( Everytime I get my hair cut the hairdresser always makes a comment about how straight my hair is! I hate that! I guess we all want what we can't have.

Carole: The NON ironing day was fabulous! I bet it would be fun to meet cheetahs. It has been fun checking in here. I have never done anything like this before. It has helped to keep me motivated. Nice workout you did there. I have kickbox extreme, but have only watched it. She looks hard to follow. I might give it a go this weekend when I have more time to play with.

Christine (again): What is it with bootcamp x2? You do that workout twice in one day! OMG! What kind of group am I checking in with here? I am way out of your league. Guess I'm going to have to start stepping up to the plate! :) Your rotation looks good!

Well, the next two days will be busy! I have 2 IEPs tomorrow and 5 on Friday! x( I have only 21 students. Does that tell you anything about my class make up? Only 4 of the special needs kids go to resource room for an hour a day. We are grouping sort of by ability level (it's not perfect, I have 1 advanced studies kid) and this year has been my hardest to teach by far. Andy has noticed this too. He has had to give me more pep talks than ever before. Things are taking A LOT longer. I guess it is making me a better teacher. That is a good thing. They are good kids though. It's funny, everyone is asking me if I am excited about this year coming to an end, and honestly, I am not. It's a wierd feeling I cannot describe. Anyway, I have been babbling here. I hope all the teacher talk isn't annoying. Have a great night everyone!

Dallas: I just remembered you posted last night. I can be scatterbrained at the end of the day! :) I decided that I will charge for the tutoring. I'm thinking maybe $20-$25 an hour. The economy here in MI stinks and I would feel comfortable with that. Thanks for your input. I took my AFAA exam when I was in college and had JUST taken human biology and anatomy and physiology, so it wasn't too bad for me (I am a science major). I am sure I would need that refresher course now! :) Are you going to be a personal trainer?

WARNING: RANT!!!

Humph...Another less then stellar TM run to report today. x( 3 miles in 35:52. How freaking awful is that!?!? It's getting WORSE, not better! My top speed is on a down hill slide and I have no idea why!!! I just can't get comfortable on the TM all of the sudden. I feel like I am unbalanced, can't keep up and will go down at any moment. I am grabbing for the side rails because I am unsure of myself!

I used to warm up at 5.5-5.8 and would run at 6 to 6.5 with out blinking an eye. I'd do my sprints between 7 and 7.5!

Today I was having trouble running at 5.5! I had to start my work out WALKING and gradually increase my speed from there. So my top speed today was 6.1 and that wasn't achievable until the very tail end of the work out. I'm at my wits end. This is THREE TM work outs in a row now that have gotten increasingly slower. Why is this happening to me!?!? x( ;( x( ;(

This is not about energy or being tired or anything like that. This is some crazy balance issue that is probably all in my head but I can't seem to get control of it and have no idea why it happened! UGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

RANT OVER...Thanks for listening!

Carole: Hope you enjoyed your k/b mish mosh today. Yeah, I couldn't imagine running 26.2 with a bloody leg. YIKES. She's a trooper for sure. Perhaps we should introduce her to our Shelly!:) Speaking of Shelly, I signed up the race she is doing in a couple of weeks right next door to me. It'll be fun to see her again.

Jackie: I am not fond of the weight work on Itrain. I have several sculpts and one strength work out and really never do them. I guess they just aren't my style. Oh well. Glad you enjoyed your strength work out today. You work out at 4:30!?!? YIKES! Kudos to you chic! I could never do that. WOW!

Kath: I don't talk during races really. I've raced with my running buddy and we really don't talk. We just go and who ever finishes first waits for the other. When we run on weekends together in the park, it's all about the chit-chat though!;)

Sunny: Hope you got your gardening done. IA that Sprints #19 is a goodie. I have yet to do 19 and 13 back to back...I'm afraid! :7

Posh: WTG on getting first class on the cheap! That's our Posh! ENJOY IT!:+

Christine: Yeah, Joey's is going to be three on 5/14. YIKES! I remember labor like it was y'day! LOL I am thinking of getting the runner girl design and then perhaps the name and date of the marathon with 26.2 in there as well ofcourse. Not quite sure yet, but I'll figure it out. Gotta figure out which marathon I'm doing first and actually work up the nerve to DO IT! ;) LOL

Dallas: Yup, f/t preschool. YIKES! LOL They have a half day program but that won't do much for me as far as getting back to work. I won't be able to work f/t since I don't want to put him aftercare but I'll atleast have enough time to work about 20 hours per week some where. You are right...they grow up waaay too fast.

Cathy: Hope you get some rest tonight, hon!

Gloria: Funny you should say that about giving blood as I am a nut when it comes to getting blood drawn too. I HATE IT!!! Getting a tattoo is different. It hurts, I won't lie but for some reason it freaks me out far less then a blood test or giving blood. I know...I'm wierd! LOL

Okay, off to share some popcorn with my little one before bed.

BBL maybe but if not definately in the morning!

Toodles!:)

I can't sleep. Even with the melatonin. x(

Wendy: I had a cat scan last year when my dr. wanted to make sure I acutally had a stress fracture. The nurse held my hand while they injected the die. That is how scared I was! :) Sorry about your runs.

Finished the plans and am going to try to keep myself up a little later, so I can sleep through. We'll see if this strategy works.

Gloria… I can’t remember what prompted me to start the spreadsheet…I think I was curious to see how much I was truly spending and wanted to try to tone it down some…ha!...I would say most of the money I spend each year goes to new books for the classroom library…They get beat down over time or lost, and there are always new materials to keep up with, so there is a constant need for that…I have to say, though, that spending during this particular year was probably a bit higher than normal…Usually the district will pay for *some* PD, but they wouldn’t for NBs, for some reason…The good news is that if I achieve certification within three years, I can get $625 of that back…That is great about your PTO…and the grant you recently scored is a huge boon as well…7 IEPs in two days! *shudders* I feel your pain. I also feel the same way about the school year ending. I am very attached to this group of 8th graders for the second year in a row. I will be sad to see them go.

Wendy…It could be that you are psyching yourself out on the TM. On the other hand, as someone who suffers from vertigo, the balance issues may not be imagined. I would see if it persists for another TM run or two, and if so, consider talking to your doc. Have you been feeling a little cruddy? It could be an ear infection in-the-making. Anyway, I fully understand the urge to rant. I can take a crappy run every now and then, but a string of 'em would irk me, too. Fingers crossed it passes.

OK, so try to rebound from three days of rest, I'm aiming for:

R-AM: 4DS B&B, PM: run & abs
F-AM: 4DS CST PM: happy hour :)
S- run & abs
S- long run & yoga

real quick cuz I'm still at work but I wanted to tell CHeetah friend CAROLE that I'm signed up for that Nike Women's Festival 5K in Sactown in June - we'll have to meet up! Um, of course I'm not going to be anywhere near your Cheetah speed but still, we can meet up and ya'llz ya'll can wait for me to drag across the finish...lol. Christine?? are you gonna join us????

Cathy - I get into Chicago about 4pm - flying alone because my friend is waiting to book her flight because she just had to buy a ticket to go home for a visit (England),so she told me to go ahead and book my award flight and we'll just meet up in Chicago. I'm not sure if she is coming in on Friday or Saturday yet.

Anyhoo, that's all I can get in now - I'm for sure coming back tonight later after I get home and all me chores and shtuff done...

Posh ;-)

Cathy: Thanks for the feedback on the runs. I am prone to vertigo as well but it's pretty much always been positional. I have a hard time sitting still in dentist chairs, getting my hair washed at the salon, sleeping on my back for more then a few minutes at a time, etc. I have heard that ear infections can cause vertigo issues. I don't feel dizzy on the TM per say but definately unbalanced. I'm also not feeling anything out of the ordinary anywhere but on the TM. I can't say I feel cruddy either but that doesn't mean there isn't something going on. I'll see what happens over the next week or two and if it doesn't stop or atleast start improving then I'll see a doc. I don't have an actual doc at the moment...I haven't had to go since DH's insurance changed and we "lost" our GP. x( We know who we'll use though and that's half the battle I guess. :)

Gloria: Oh you poor thing. I'm not that bad. You remind me, however, of my BFF. She is petrified of needles. She has passed out on more then ocassion just from the anticipation of having to get a needle. The kicker? She wants a tattoo! LOL Now realize I said WANTS...I did NOT say she HAS or is GETTING one ;) though she's actually entertained the thought!
