::: CHEETAHS ::: Going the distance ~ Sunday

RunninTeach

Cathlete
Good morning, cheetahs & happy birthday, Karen!!

Hope it's a wonderful day. Any special plans?

Mapped out my route for this morning's long run of 20. Hannah seems to have cooled things down some, but I'll still aim to get moving as soon as it begins getting light. This'll be eating a huge chunk of the day, and I'm still hoping to drop by the hospital and finish getting things done for the week. Couldn't square it all away yesterday. My grades in the nutrition program were not my best this week. I didn't go overboard most days, but I definitely haven't been eating as clean. I am hoping I do not pay the price today out on the road.

Have a great Sunday, everyone!

Good Morning Cheetahs.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, KAREN!
I hope your day is everything you want it to be though I know THAT won't happen unless you give your kids away!;):p:D (j/k)

CATHY: You go girl! WOW 20 miles. AWESOME! I look forward to reading your blog later! :) I can't wait to hear about your visit with the new addition. I'm sure mom is doing better today. Heck, I was exhausted too but it's such an exciting time and as much as I wanted to rest, I LOVED when people came to visit cause I wanted to show off my new "toy"!:p :D

So I am supposed to be running the half distance this morning but I woke up late and I have a ton to do today. I COULD push it off until next week and even though I'd rather not, I am thinking it may be the smart thing to do. There is no way I'll be able to get out there before 8:30 which will leave me finishing my run around 11:00 and I have to be at a Birthday Party that is 30 minutes away from me at NOON! Can you say NOT GONNA HAPPEN!? I also am supposed to go to the 2 pm visitation for BF's mom. I could go to the 7 instead but the B'day party is still an issue especially since I still need to buy the kid a card!:eek:

Gotta get more coffee...BBIAB.

I'm back to say that I am definately not doing my long run today. It stinks but it's just soooo not worth it. I wish I got up earlier! GRRRR! :(

Anyway, I will head to the gym in a bit and do a 60 minute Itread. Perhaps I can extend that into an longer run if time permits.

Good morning cheetahs

Hope you have a great day!!!

Cathy...Good luck with your 20 miles!! I will be looking forward to your blog..:)...I don't think how you have been eating will affect the run very much. Yeah, never a smart move to wear new shoes for a marathon! Mom did have an Ensure yesterday. Sorry you could not see your friend yesterday. I am sure 17 hours of labor could wear one out! Hope you can see her and the baby today. I would love to hear the light pitter patter of rain...:)

Wendy..enjoy your iTread.

Christine...glad the ride was fun. Can't wait for pics!! Sorry about your stomach not feeling great.

Wendi...so sorry about MK...:(...I agree with your feeling about the pain finally being gone. Sending {{{HUGS}}} Loved the Bucket List. Enjoy your company.

Mom was in a good mood again yesterday. She also has a very sweet room mate and I think that helps. Today she should have therapy for the 1st time.

I am doing a 13-14 mile run before it gets too bloody hot!! Then you all know what I will be watching...

Have a great day...:)

Good Morning. Thank you all so much for the wonderful Birthday Wishes. I love you girls. I don't have much planned today other than football. Dh and the kids got me an ice cream cake and made me signs and cards and home made gifts. Ill open those later and report back on my prizes. My 6 yo dd woke up at 6 o'clock to come in and wish me happy birthday. Scared me out of a dead sleep. Then she got into bed with us. I was trying like heck to sleep in today because noramly I would be getting up. I managed to sleep unitl 7 so it was still good. Today is my rest day so I'm going to do just that. I told the girls all I want is no fighting . Told dh he was in charge of dinner.

Cathy- good luck on your long runs today. I will be thinking of all of you. 20 miles is a milstone. Your training is going awesome. My eating wasn't too hot yesterday with the storm and the rain. We just sat here and played with the girls all day and ate junk. Horrible I know. Then today I have a huge giant M&M ice cream cake waiting for me. YOur not alone and probably doing better than most.

Carole- Have fun on your run today. I hope you miss the heat. Love my birthday sign. I hope your mom therapy session goes well.

Wendy= I think I would skip the run too and push it back some. I hate it when I wake up late and throw the day out of wack. It is so irritating. Thanks for my b-day wishes. So far no fighting between the kids. Well, there not up yet but I can wish.

Hello to everyone else

HI Cheetahs!

We are back early form our Tournament in Toronto. DS's team went undefeated, and still got eliminated. If we had scored one more goal we would still be playing. Go figure! DS is not too upset, because if we went to the finals, the last game is at 5:00pm today and we would not get on the road until 7pm. The drive is 3 and a half hours. So it is just as well. DS starts schol tomorrow, finally.

There was little time to stay current on Cheetahville, but I do have a few personals.

Karen- HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! I hope your girls can show you a day of harmony!

Cathy- Good luck today on your:eek::cool: 20 miler! I know you will do it! I will be checking your blog later! and congrats to your friend and her new baby

Wendy- I am so sorry about your BF's Mom. it was the hardest grief in my life to lose my Mom, especially when I was a youg mother with very little experience. My friends were a great comfort at that time. Wise decision to put off your run with your very full day.

Carole- How fortunate for your:) Mom:) to have a pleasant room mate! This morning DH and I watched the reviews of college football and I thought of you. I expectedyou to report a long run and an afternoon of football for an ideal Sunday. Have fun today!

I am thinking I'll wake my kids up for mass. Then we will meet DH(he is working/on call this weekend) at the grandparents house for lunch. And then back home to regroup for the week. ( meal planning, etc) We will definately have FB on here. But, DS still has to finish up his last of 4 summer reading assignments.

I need to get in a workout somewhere. I ran 4 miles on the TM at the hotel yesterday to cardio coach 3 and my foot did not feel too bad:D. But I will not do impact two days in a row like last week:mad:. I have been really rolling (a can and tennis ball) and stretching like crazy.

Hello to everyone I missed. I'll pick up on personals as we go forward! Enjoy your Sunday everybody!

cheetahs going for the long runs!!

Good morning lovely cheetahs!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY KAREN!!!!!

Just got back from a great 14 mile run at Fairmount park. This was my first weekend run there and it was really a blast! Lots of runners bikers and skaters of all fitness levels out there. This was my last run there until my marathon so I just HAD to run up the Rocky steps this time. No I didn't dance around at the top.... :p Just paused long enough to appreciate the view a little and then jogged down. I wasn't aware that Philadelphia actually closes the river drive (on the west side of the Schuylkill river) to auto traffic for all Sunday morning so the runners and bikers can enjoy it. Anyway, I ended up completing the run with an average pace of 9:25. I was pretty happy with that since I worked out hard yesterday.

I'll stay up relaxing and catching up for a couple more hours before taking my pre work nap. Down to only 3 more nights of work here (yay) Sun, Mon, with Tues off, then Wednesday for my last nite!

I'll be back with personals.

Good Morning Fit and Fabulous Cheetahs!!! :)

Cath: Good luck on the long run today! I posted a haiku to you on your blog. :) I don't think I could ever manage wearing heels. I am a flats person. My feet are persnickity (sp?). You are not the only one not eating clean. We will get there. I have a lot to do today too. Manageable, but a lot.

Wendy: It will be ok to push the longer run back. Joey sounds like he is liking school for the most part. Have fun at the birthday party!

Carole: That is great your mom has a nice roomate. Enjoy the football today!

Karen: HAPPY BIRTHDAY! I hope the girls do not fight for you today! :)

Judy: I am glad your foot is feeling better! :)

DH and I were feeling wierd yesterday. We met his parents for lunch and had a nice time. His mom is cleaning out the attic and she brought over 4 photo albums of DH pics. DH did not have the best childhood. His mom had brain cancer while he was growing up and it caused her to act a little crazy. They had to go back and forth to the University of MI hospital. His dad was just home from Vietnam. It must have been bad for him because he NEVER speaks about it. It brought back a lot of sad memories for him looking at those pictures. :( I knew this was going to happen, I was home before him and looked at them all. There were some good memories though. Dh loved Halloween and had some pretty cool costumes, the alligator one being his favorite. :) We went for a walk with the dogs last night. You would never think DH's parents were like that now, they are the most wonderful, caring people. Enough babble. I am running today. :)

PERSONALS

Hello again y'all!

Judy- How very frustrating for your DS!! I can't imagine going undefeated yet still be eliminated!! Your being very sensible in your workouts managing the foot pain and limiting the high impact... good job!

Karen- Sounds like a perfect fun family day for you today. Hope you have a fantastic and restful birthday!!

Wendi- Hey, I'm right with you in your views about your friends passing being a blessing at this point. In my line of work I see far too much suffering, often it is pointless and we are keeping people alive for the sake of their family. I do not see death as something to be feared and avoided at all costs. Sorry for the morbid sidetrack here.... just wanted to let you know you are entirely justified in your feelings.

Christine- did that mule ever get out of your gut??? (LOL) You certainly have a talent for describing things!!!:p Seriously, I hope you did end up resting.... you've been a whirlwind lately!!!!

Jackie- How did the open house go? Sorry your DD is having such problems with her knees... that is very frustrating. Has she seen a doc about it?

Carole- Great news that your Mom has really perked up since tramsferring to rehab. Great idea to push the Ensure on her!!! I guess we are sympatico in our long runs today.. goin the same distance. Hey, I forgot to tell you. I actually signed up for DirecTVs NFL ticket... any team I want every weekend. You can even split the screen as much as 8 ways at a time:eek: I actually didn't intend to to this but I renewed with directv at a time they were pushing this and said if I bought it I would get 3 months of premium service (which is what I wanted) free.
So it actually ended up saving me about $20.00/month, plus now DH and I can be entertained with some football this season!! I'm stuck here in Philly tho so I can't enjoy it yet..... but next Sunday I'll be there:D

Wendy- Sorry it didn't work out for you to get in your long run today. You have your plate full as usual. That Jersey Shore marathon does sound like a good one and if I'm still doing okay after the Philly marathon I'll be happy to join you.
Joey stayed dry eh? woooohoooo another milestone for your little guy:D
I expect to get the official word tomorrow about my job. There's no reason to believe I won't get the offer but I'll be relieved nonetheless!
I don't start work there until the 22nd so I have a good 10 day stretch off. I'll be using to repaint the house!!!

Cathy (saved the best for last!) You go girl!! I'm confident you can go the distance today:D:D:D Looking forward to reading your blog entry!
Have a fun time visiting your friend and the new baby today.

Hey Girls.

Quick check in from my mom's house before I head to the funeral home. The Birthday party I took Joey too was cute. He was being incredibly shy and leeching on to me for the first 15 minutes but when he finally "let go", he had a good time. He started acting up when we were leaving though. I was not happy. I told him he is lucky I don't tell his father how he was acting!:p

While I was at the party I got 2 compliments! My cousin (a guy) said to me that I looked all pumped up. He said my biceps looked bigger then his and that I'd probably beat him if we arm wrestled! Then he told me I look like the girl from the Terminator movie and that I look great! YAY! He made my day! Some time later his wife mentioned how great I looked as well. It's all worth it when others notice your hard work, ey? :)

DH came and picked him up from me a few minutes ago so now I am unwinding before heading back out. I can't sit at the funeral home for 2 hours so instead of leaving early I will go later and leave when it ends at 4. I was going to go out to eat with BF's work friends that will be there but I'm soooo craving healthy food. I've been eating nothing but crap since yesterday. :(

I also want to get home in time to make an attempt at a work out. I started cleaning up around the house this morning and before I knew it I had to jump in the shower. I completely blew my exercise time. GRRR. Hopefully if I skip the meal and get home by 4:30ish, I'll eat something light and healthy and then grab a quick work out before dinner. Wish me luck!

BBL with personals.

Karen...I did miss the heat although the run got a bit warm! Hope you are enjoying Football with the big screen! Glad Dh and the kids got you an Ice Cream Cake!! So cute about the cards and gifts. Hope DH makes a nice dinner for you...:)

Judy...I am not much of a College FB fan, only NFL. But I did watch some of the Notre Dame game yesterday with my Mom. Sounds like the kids have been busy! Hope your foot improves.

Shelly..I CANNOT believe no dance atop the Rocky steps!!!..:D Yes, we did both get in 14 today but you had a much faster pace...:)..Sounds like you got a great deal with Direct TV. I LOVE having the NFL ticket. Got to watch Farve play as a Jet today. That is just too weird!! Mom has been drinking the Ensure so that is great.

Cathy...I hope the 20 went well...

I was happy to make 14 miles. That is the longest I have run in over a year! It was a very nice run and I stopped on the way home to water some of my Mom's outdoor plants.

Off to watch some more FB!

Hey everyone!

Karen - Happy Birthday!!!! Hope you have a wonderful day!!!!

Cathy - I hope the 20 miler went well! That is awesome about your BF's baby! Congrats to her! How sweet!!

Wendy - Sorry you had to push your long run back! You have a lot on your plate! Hey....does't it feel good to get compliments like that?? :)

Judy - Sorry about your son's team getting eliminated! I don't quite understand why they would do that since they were undefeated! Doesn't seem fair!

Shelley - Great run and pace!!!! I would love to run up the Rocky Steps!! :) Sounds neat with the skaters and bikers. Wow! Only three nights to go!

Carole - Great job on your 14 miler today, too! That is awesome that you are building your distance again! It sounds as if your injuries are giving you a break from them! Let's hope they stay away! Hope your mom is still doing better. :)

Gloria - That is sad about your DH'sfamily! It really sounds like it was a very sad situation :( I am glad they are doing a lot better now :) It is wonderful that his Mom survived the brain cancer.

Wendi - I am sorry about MK :( I definitely understand what you are saying, though. ((Hugs))

Yesterday I ran 4 miles and did GS C&T and the abs from HSC.

Today was our long run. We did 17 miles, but had to walk back another 1 1/2 miles to get to the car. So....total distance was 18 1/2 miles, but only counting 17 as our "run". It was pretty good, actually. :) A lot better than last week's 15 mile "race". My friend takes pepper spray and I was really glad today, because we definitely got chased by a lot of dogs. She didn't have to spray any of them, but I did feel better knowing she had it!

Hey to everyone! Back to the grind tomorrow :(

Linda

had a GREAT 20!

Wendy :: the baby is too, too cute...she slept the whole time during the visit...BF is still in a tremendous amount of pain. I feel so bad for her. She was told it will be about two weeks before she is back to getting around again...GREAT compliments you received--enjoy!!!

Carole :: how was your mom's therapy session today? Glad you had a good 14. Fantastic that you are able to get your miles back up there. Hope your teams do well. You were right--the somewhat unclean eating of the week had no bearing. But I feel better without the junk, so time to clean it up again. The scale is finally cooperating, and I want to keep that momentum going!

Karen :: mmm, M&M ice cream cake!! Today calories don't count for you. Hope you've thoroughly enjoyed your day.

Shelly :: glad you enjoyed a great run complete with the classic Rocky climb. The theme song came on the shuffle twice today. Cheesy as it may be, those trumpets always put a little spring in my step. :) Woohoo, only 3 more to go!

Judy :: Understand why DS wasn't too disappointed over being eliminated. I'm glad your foot is responding well.

Gloria :: saw your haiku! It made me smile. I so appreciate the support here...I like heels to work, but I do not wear the killer ones frequently. I do have one pretty bad bunion on the foot with issues. I have two pairs of dressy shoe boots w/ a thicker heel that I wear the most. Otherwise, I tend to be a pretty casual dresser--jeans and tees or sweaters. But BEST of all--sweats!!! :) Wow, DH's family really went through some hard times. Is he an only child?

Linda :: I tried the pb Power Bar today--thumbs up! I think I might like it better than the Sharkies. The tropical berry Cytomax seemed a little sweet to me at first, but I was OK with it. Great job with your long run...I hate getting chased! Glad nothing happened. I had one dog behind a high wooden fence "ambush" me today. I couldn't see or hear him, and don't you know, the little sucker waited til I was right in front of wherever he was and then barked like a maniac. Scared the bejesus outta me. *lol*

Today's long run was one of the best of my training. As I wrote in the blog, it was just pure Zen. Which kind of amazes me. I wouldn't think 20 could feel, well, sort of good. Don't get me wrong--the going remains ever-so-slow and I do get fatigued in the later miles (esp. the last two today), but I am definitely making gains in endurance, and I'm just elated about that.

Busy day otherwise. Scrambled to get the rest of my schoolwork done before making a hospital visit. As mentioned to Wendy, my friend is in a great deal of pain post C-section, but they are thrilled with their new bundle of joy. She is just this perfect, little thing and slept peacefully throughout the visit.

Can't believe it is already Sunday evening. Where does the weekend go???

Have a good night, everyone!
