Cathlete
Hello cheetahs,

cathy- i have to admit all of the excitement really got me thinking about coming to join you if not for a full than maybe a hm or even as a cheerleader for our mighty cheetahs. looked at my calendar and was reminded i am in a wedding on oct. 11th. so i am definitely out. I will be there in spirit for all of you there.

wendi- i am going to give it a try as i have a heavy bag. i will let you know what i think.

carole- that would be so awesome if you also made it to chicago!

christine- so glad to hear all is well with kimo!

jackie- so have you made a serious dent into all of your packing?

dallas- you are going to be awesome!! will this be your first full mary? i am so proud of you. i will also donate to TNT:)

ok, so i never got to do KM yesterday as my little ones woke up and i had to just roll with the day. so yesterday wound up being my rest day. however i am up early and determined to get KM done this a.m. later on i am taking the boys to the track for a little run.

BBL...:)

Gm, everyone! :) :) :)

Wendi :: ^^^ 5s on the killer workout! That would be wonderful if we get to meet this summer when Sunny's up in Jersey.

Sunny :: sorry to hear it. :( But I am sure there will be more cheetah GTGs in the future, and hopefully some of us East Coasters will get to meet up this summer!

I missed Firepower again (yeah I know, somebody smack me!) but I'll DEFINITELY get to it today along with a 3 mi run. I got sucked into a vortex of grading and spent 4 hours on their short stories, so I figured I could just move FP to Sunday. Anyway, I have two classes done and two more to go. I hope it doesn't take as long! And then that will be THE END of the pile. Hallelujah. :)

Have a great day, ladies!

"Do you want to feel my spatula?" Run, Fat Boy, Run

Good morning cheetahs! Had a pretty relaxed nite tonight so I'm ready to burn off some stored energy now:) ;-) I'll hit the TM when I get home for a very brisk 4 mile tempo run. I just wasn't in the mood for kickboxing when I made it down to the basement yesterday so I never did do ITR. Instead I opted for AllBody Cardio and then followed up with SUS.

Sunny- I just smile picturing you at the track with your cute little boys! I sure hope you can post a pic or give us a link so we can see that race he is doing with you! Have fun with KM today.

Cathy- My oh My, Chicago is sure turning into a big group event:eek:
Hope that nasty ol Vortex doesn't suck you in today! Firepower is callin your name!

Beth- Great plan to do the GS premixes for now. You'll get in an awesome workout with them. I bet your DS is thrilled that you have started to run!! I think you are our first cheetah from Ohio:) I'm currently living in Arizona but am relocating in about 3 weeks:eek:
to NJ and ultimately southeastern Pa. Very excited about becoming an Eastern Cheetah! I am an RN (working nites) and have a reputation for kickbutt crazy workouts.... hence the nickname!

That's all I have time for now... Hi to all the fab cheetahs checking in today. Hope you have an awesome Sunday.
Carole- Hope your run is a great pain free one!!!!!

ShellyC

KM is done!!!

cathy- i will definitely let you know when i am in nj. it is looking like the end of june.

shelly- i dutifully promise to take pics! the race is on 5/3. susan g. komen's race for the cure.

beth- welcome again, glad you decided to stay with us:) i live in north carolina have a dh and 2 boys ages 7 and 2. my dh is currently in ohio for a track meet. he is a high school track coach. so cool your son is running and getting you into it. i am a personal trainer and group exercise instructor.

Good morning cheetahs

Sunny...looks like I will be going to Chicago! Sorry I will miss you...:(...enjoy KM today and a run with your DS's...

Cathy...loved the happy smileys you posted yesterday, you are so sweet. Talked to DH yesterday and YEP, it looks like I will be there to cheer you, Dallas and Posh along. I would love to run it but not sure that could happen. Seeing you and Christine again, and meeting more cheetahs will be such a blast!!! LOL about Planet of the Apes...think Shelly missed it???...:D....Good job on the grading pile...hope you will see the end of the pile today!! Enjoy the run and Firepower...

Shelly...hope you have a nice tempo run later. I am hoping for a pain free run too..:)

Wendi..it can be tough adding another workout after a run. I would love to get back to a 9 min pace...Way to go!!! I have been doing extensions on my bench but yesterday was the 1st day for leg curls as I was having some pain in part of my hamstring when I last did them. I agree with you on IA about the country chick and dreads going (sorry Dallas)...

I will probably run about 6 miles today, then hopefully some yard work or housework as both are calling!

Have a great day...:)

Back right quick to report my 3 mile run followed by Firepower General Alarm (the one with no breaks) is done! What a gorgeous morning it was out there.

Discovered, though, that I am a COMPLETE DUNCE! *lol* The kb that I *thought* was a 20 all this time is actually a 25. DUH!!! So now I have a 15, 20, and 25 and still no pair. :p :7

Sunny :: I think end of June is when the Pine Beach 5K is. Know I have the race app around here somewhere.

Shelly :: glad it was an easy night for ya! I know, I am completely pumped about Chicago. Maybe that might convince Wendy to go for it, since there are both rookies and veterans going.

Carole :: Really, I am still doin' the happy dance over how many of us have committed to Chicago. My fingers and toes are crossed that you might feel up to running it, but regardless, IA it will be such a BLAST to hang out with you again & meet the others. I will definitely see the end of the pile today b/c I have to input my grades this week. (Report cards are going home.) I never want to get myself into this kind of hole again! :p

I'm still thinking about that movie yesterday (Run, Fat Boy, Run). I think I need to see it again! It is definitely one I will be adding to the home library!!! :)

Hi to everyone else!

Good Morning Cheetahs –

I’m still worried about Kimo. She’s not eating and every time she drinks water she sicks up a watery blackish liquid. At the vet they gave her food and water intravenously, and she looked a lot better, but she went down hill. I don’t know. Everything I’m reading says it can take 2-3 days for insulin treatments to take affect, but she can’t go too long without water. Keep your fingers crossed for the poor girl. My workout plans today are Power Circuits by Dave Whitely (kettlebells), followed by a Spinervals.

Dallas – I’m a sucker for a good cause, so no worries. I do donate to everyone who posts asking for donations, but a fellow Cheetah will be special. Did you have fun last night?

Carole – I might be able to swing a room for free, actually – with DH’s travels, he collects points, and they really help at times like this. We’ll see. :p So far so good with the achilles! Your Mish Mosh yesterday sounds like FUN! Enjoy your run today!

Wendi – Good job on the workout yesterday! I like that feeling of wanting to just fall into bed and pass out. :p Good job on the run! Oh, I love Gauntlet, but yeah, with sore legs – OUCHIE! I fully admire anyone who can run a marathon, and I’ll avidly cheer them on and I know I’ll wish I could be out there with them, but I also know I just would not make it. :p

Sunny – Have fun with KM today! And really enjoy your time with your boys running the track! My first running session with DD15 is tomorrow. I’m looking forward to it.

Cathy – Too funny about Firepower. You’ll get it done (and get to drool over Anthony while you’re at it). I’ll bet you’ll feel WONDERFUL when the grading is done. Good for you! Editing to add – WAY TO GO! Sorry to hear about your kettlebell! The 25 will come in handy, but yeah, I know you’ll want a pair, especially for Firepower.

Shelly – 3 weeks eh? I’ll bet you’re ready, now that everything is sooo close. Great workout you got yesterday! Enjoy your run today!

Beth – I live in Northern California (Bay Area – not as northern as Carole). I’m a 43 yo mom of 3 – youngest is 15. As you can tell, I have dogs – two – Jimmy (the one in my avatar) and Kimo, a little while American Eskimo. I’m in sales/ customer service with a technology company (imagine that – is the Silicon Valley). Glad you’re here to stay!

Well, Jimmy is demanding to be fed, and I want to check on Kimo. Take care everyone!

Cathy....kudos getting in the run and Firepower. I think I'd be the same about not realizing the weight of the KB's...:)...I am doing the happy dance too! Meeting up with cheetahs is always a blast! I can only hope I might run it...but I am sure I could get Christine to run a little bit that day...:)...would be fun to run the last 6 or so miles with you...You do make me want to see that movie...

Christine...I am praying for Kimo, and hope she just needs a few days to be back to normal. I know how hard this is on you....sending {{{HUGS}}}. A free room would be great!! But I have no problem splitting the cost with you if the free room does not work out..:)...Enjoy your KB workout and Spinervals.

I had a nice 6 mile run and met my sister and friend for about 4.5 of it. I rolled out on the roller after. Made my DH & I some breakfast and will head out to get some sun soon. Not sure how long the nice weather will be here...:)...

Carole - thanks! I appreciate the prayers for Kimo. She's laying in the sun sleeping right now. She so far has been able to keep down some water, so that's good, and she's going potty, so that's good too. We'll see on the room. Need to get DH moving on it. :p It IS nice today, isn't it?

I ended up doing Power Circuits, which is fun - tough, but fun (Dave is a BIG guy - and to see him perform some of the moves is inspiring to say the least. No more excuses!). Then I put in a Spinervals, but ended up listing to my running music on my iPhone and creating my own spin class - that was FUN!! Now it's off to take DD15 shopping for running gear! :p

Hey everyone!

I asked DH if I could go to Chicago and run the marathon and he just said “we will see”. Hmph! I have been planning on doing the Marshall marathon in Nov. and I know I couldn’t do both…but if he would let me go to Chicago…I would sign up for that one instead! So….I will wait a while to register for Marshall and see if maybe I can do Chicago. That would be sooo much fun!

Cathy – I know without a doubt that you would not be slower than me! I have Jeff Galloway’s book…but I am thinking it was the ½ marathon book. That is how I trained for my half. I ended up doing no walk breaks, though. I trained with them, but didn’t use them on the race. I also like John Bingham’s Marathoning for Mortals! Anyway……Hey …did you ever get Extreme KB?

Shelly – Good job on ABC and SUS! Hope you enjoy your TM run!

Sunny – Good job on KM!

Carole – Glad you had a good 6 mile run and got to meet your sister and friend! Enjoy the sun! It is so cold here today (and cloudy!)

Christine – I am so sorry Kimo is having problems! I hope she gets better really soon! Wow! Her liver sounds really enlarged. Poor thing :<( Good job on PC and your spinning!

Friday I ran 5 miles and did my weight machine for the total body and some walking lunges.

Yesterday I ran 5 miles and did CM #1.

This morning was a 9.5 mile run.

I have been having a bit of a traumatic week :<( I tend to “hide” and not talk when bad things are going on, so I haven’t been posted for a few days.

My oldest DD and her DH split up and she moved out. She has 2 children of her own and 2 stepsons. Her Stepson's mother just passed away in August...so this is really going to be traumatic for them. I have just really been stressing and worrying about her ..and "all" of them!. So ..please say a little prayer for them.

I will talk to you guys later!

Hi to everyone that checks in later and that I have missed!

Linda

Happy Sunday!

Thanks for the kinds words and prayers for our friends. Yesterday, the funeral was sad, but a nice memorial with lots of family and friends that spoke of good memories. I still feel so terribly for his wife; she’s so distraught and lost without her Robert. It is so true what my DH says about them – one of his favorite sayings from Forest Gump – “they go together like peas and carrots”. We gave her $$ in the card to help out as we know there wasn’t any life insurance and I plan on calling her this next week to see how things are going. After the service, my MIL came over to my SIL’s (she lives across the pond on the adjacent property) so did oldest DD and her BF and we all had a first of the season cook-out. Um, the weather here was in the 80’s – can you believe it?

Well Chicago Cheetah friends, I’ve now enabled my friend/neighbor/running buddy to sign up for Chicago as well which is also good when splitting the cost of hotel. She’s the friend I ran the 4 halfs and 1 full for the Rock n Roll events last year to get the Rock Star Medal. Now I’m REALLY fired up to get going and lose the rest of the weight and get a solid base going by July so I can focus on good endurance training from July on. I’m not a fast marathoner by any means, but I do want to be able to match or beat my best time of 4:55. So I’ve got some goals set and it’s time to TEAR IT UP!! LOL. Also, if other Cheetahs are interested, there’s some availability and good rates at the Silversmith Hotel compared to the other posh hotels in the area – I booked a room there too thanks to the tip from Cathy. I’d be booking soon as it really is filling up everywhere.

Sunny – awe shucks, I guess we won’t be work the enabling on you then, huh? lol. Very cool you’re taking the boys for a little run on the track – lucky to have active, fit parents.

Cathy – Egads…I’d hate to do all those arduous hours of grading papers…ugh…my ADD would surely put me in spin cycle! Kudos to you for your teaching abilities – I’d be fired the first day. I so “stoked” about Chicago too! I’m going to focus on my weight loss and solid running base the most until beginning of July and then I’ll start a 16 or 18 week running schedule which will include building the long run on the weekends. I’m also going to do atleast 3X upper/lower body weights, 3X solid core work and 2X week yoga as me thinks this helps with remaining injury free. STRETCHING is sooo important for me.

Shelley – Wow, I didn’t realize you’ll be an East Coast Cheetah in just a few weeks! Good luck to ya’ll on your relocation. Awe, can’t you just hitch a ride in Cathy’s suitcase or something to Chicago? It’s going to be sooooo fun!

Carole – I ditto what Cathy said “YEEEESSSSUUUUH!!!” Carole is coming to Chicago! Yay! I can’t wait to meet everyone! – FINALLY… Um, I think I should go back a read the posts to see what the Planet of the Apes business is all about…

Christine – I’m so sorry about Kimo. (((HUGS))) What a tough situation to be in, but I hope all works out well for you all. I am SO excited you’re going to Chicago! It’s going to be a blast! What day will ya’ll fly in? We’ll be getting in on Friday late afternoon.

Beth – from the posts today, I gather you are new to the Cheetahs ( I really need to go back and see prior posts!) so along with the others I say, “WELCOME!” The Cheetahs are THEEEE Best!

Linda – Awe, (((((HUGS)))) to you too..I know what if feels like to worry about the kids. I hope things get better for her. Yeah, my DH grumbled and said, “um, no you’re not, no more marathons” and “I don’t want to go to Chicago” when I posed the issue of joining the Cheetahs in Chicago. But then I said, “too bad, you’re not the boss of me and I’m going to see the Cheetahs in Chicago”…lol. He feels better about the idea now that my friend will be going with me and I won’t be traveling alone. Also, he softened up after I told him there are enough airline miles for me to book a ticket for only $10 – sweet! I hope you get to go!!!

OH yeah, DALLAS! I did see something about you and TNT – so did you sign up for the marathon through Team and Training? COOL! I’ve done 3 marathons just for TNT. You can count on me for a donation!

Ok, my time is up, I need to get back to the long list of STUFF to do today. I hope everyone is enjoying their Sunday..

Thomasina :7

Good evening Cheetahville!

I'm sitting here enjoying a nice bowl of strawberries and blueberries with a dollop of FF Greek yogurt and am ready to catch up with all my Cheetah gals....life is good!

So, surprisingly enough, I had no DOMS or fatigue from Saturday's workout so Gauntlet was a breeze this morning...well, as much of a breeze as it usually is LOL }(! I felt great and was so pumped that I even had energy to spare after the Terminators...insane, right :p? However, I had some weird balance issues here and there during the step portions and, believe me when I say that I have *NEVER* tripped over the step, but I did three times this morning. I just chalked it up to my mind wandering or me just not being awake enough. My clutziness started before my workout (sliced my thumb pretty good with a knife and burned same thumb while taking something out of the oven) and continued after my workout (almost dropped a whole bowl of tomato sauce while taking it out of the micro, dropped my open seltzer bottle all over the living room floor). Sheesh, nice morning, huh?!?!

So I went to work and started to feel not so nice...a little nausea, headache, weakness, out of breath, yadyadyada, rode a couple of horses (not very well) and then it dawned on me that I probably had a teeny tiny concussion from a spill from one of the babies on Saturday morning...the little $#!^ spun me off pretty hard. I hit the back of my head pretty good but I felt perfectly fine yesterday. The only ache I woke up with this morning was some pain on the right side of my neck and lower back which was to be expected with the way I fell. So long (very long) story short I feel okay now, just a little achy but I just can't believe that I actually got through my workout this morning without any serious problems.

Anyway, the phone is ringing...I'll BBIAM with personals.

Sorry for the interruption...

Sunny - I'd be interested to hear what you think of that workout. Your run with your boys sounds like fun...I hope you all had a good time! Oooh, a possible race when you come out in June??? That would be so much fun!!!

Cathy - Wow, I can't believe the amount of grading you've been schlepping through lately...as if you didn't have enough on your plate already! Fantastic workout today! Oh, I'm so wishing I could join you all in Chicago :(. Hey, let me know when that 5k is...I'd be up for it :D.

Shelly - I hope you had a good run with all that pent up energy you had lol!

Carole - Soak up that nice weather out there...unbelievable temps you guys are having! Sounds like you had a great run today with your sis and her friend. Oh, I didn't realize Dallas liked "dreads"...sorry Dallas!

Christine - Oh, honey, {{{{HUGS}}}} for Kimo. Nick (my cat) and I will say a prayer for her tonight. I'm glad to hear that she was able to keep some water down today. Great workout today! Oooh, shopping for running gear is always FUN!

Linda - {{{{{{{HUGS}}}}}}} to you and your family! What a tough situation for all involved. I will keep everyone in my prayers. How amazing that would be if you could do Chicago, too! Fantastic run today...I can't wait to get back up the longer distances again, but I'm *trying* to be patient.

Posh - Sweetie, lotsa {{{{{{{HUGS}}}}}}}} comin' your way, too! That was very generous of you to help her out...that's our Posh! You gals are so gonna rock Chicago!!!

Well, I really do need to get to bed. I definitely still don't feel 100% and I think another good sleep should take care of it. I'm not sure what my workout plans are for tomorrow. Right now it's a toss up between a run and Low Max...I'll have to see how what the weather holds in the morning. Good night Cheetahs!
