Hello! I've been a lurker here for a while!
I would like to ask those of you who run and use Cathe's (and other advanced level workouts) dvds how you rotate your workouts. Right now I'm training for a 5K after taking a break from running for a few months. I want to continue using my dvds at home for cardio and weights, but I'm not sure how to work running in again without over doing it. Any suggestions? I already work out 5-6 days a week for about 45 minutes to an hour. I don't mind spending up to an hour and a half if needed. Thanks in advance for your input!:)

Borna,

I think everyone's training looks a little different. It's important to find what works for you.

I was recently training and I ran 3 days a week, did cross-training cardio 1 day a week, and weight-training one day a week. I ran M, W, Sat. Tues I did some kind of Cathe Cardio. Thursday I did a Cathe TB weight workout.

That's just one idea. Others can chime in with what they did.

Hi Borna,

If I am training for a race like an HM or something, I will normally run about 3x per week and usually won't add in any Cathe cardio as my body reacts negatively to TOO much cardio. My weight training will depend upon the style of training I choose (full body, 1 body part per day, splits, etc) and how much time I have left to devote to it but I ALWAYS make sure I have time for atleast 2 full body work outs per week at minimum.

When I am not training for a race I simply make sure I run atleast once a week or my endurance will go down the toilet. That being said I usually have to tweak or add on to any rotation I am doing in order to get in the run-which sometimes annoys me-but that's the way the ball bounces.

I don't worry about when or how often I do other forms of cardio. Running is the only thing I HAVE to get in every week in order to maintain my level of endurance with it. When it comes to Cathe's work outs or anyone elses for that matter, I just do them when they come up in the rotation I have chosen (if running isn't being subbed in instead) or whenever the mood strikes me.

Thanks!

I appreciate the advice. I just didn't know where to start to mix running in with everything else.
Thanks again!
