Cheetah-Runners Check In Monday July 10

Hi Runner/cheetahs...

Just getting the thread started bright and early.

Push-Pull Premix on tap for me today and hopefully a swim later this afternoon when taking my kids to the pool

Hope everyone has great workouts today and weather that cooperates!

Barb
:) :) :)

Good morning Barb and all that follow.......

Barb - your workout sounds fun! Nothing like a nice swim to energize you. ENJOY!!!:)

I'm recovering from my busy weekend. Our team didn't win the golf tournament, BUT I got the longest drive and longest putt prizes :) :) I was very excited!!!

I have a board meeting tonight so not sure what I will be doing for a workout, or if I'll be able to even get one in. I'll be checking back with all of you later.....

Marcia. :)

Good Morning eveyone. I have missed you all. Today I'm doing Kelli Robets. I always loved her and her workouts. I have been listening to doctor's orders and not running to much. I did maybe 10 miles last week total. My IT band is feeling 75%. I guess it's a wait and see kind of thing. I'm glad I had a chance to sit down and say hi. By the way my hair turned out. Hurray. I'm telling you I was in shock. I just love it.

Good morning ladies! Just got back from a 13.5 mile bike ride w/ my usual early morning friends. It's nice, we can just chat & catch up from our weekends while we bike! It was a busy weekend & it's going to be a busy week! We have VBS every night this week, the girls are looking forward to it! (we're co-teaching the 1-3rd graders)

And thanks for everyone asking about Allison, she's doing MUCH better. She complains on & off about her ears, but she's on the antibiotic for 10 days which should take care of it. She loves her *bubble gum medicine*. ;-) She did fine swimming on Sat too! (she's a little fish!)

I think someone comes in & trashes my house over the weekend. How can things get so out of control in 2 days???? Laundry & cleaning on the agenda today!!!

I plan to do MM later, I'll do it at naptime! Must get to work now! :)

Hugs,

good morning,
I had planned on getting up and running this morning before work but didnt. Its my first day back to work after 10days of vacation and I had a hard time getting out of bed so I will have to run after work,oh well.

hope everyone has a nice day!

Good morning all! No running today, or yesterday for that matter
I will be doing SJP later (Haven't done that for a while) and a good hour or so of some cycling.

Karen- How nice to hear from ya!!! I guess your getting in some good crosstraining workouts lately. Glad to hear you're making steady improvement with your ITB injury.

Marcia- Congratulations on your golf victories!

Barb- It's so great to hear from you again. You always give such wonderful intelligent advice! I was interested in your comments yesterday about p90x, I finally caved and ordered it. Can't wait to start it! Did you do the long 2 set premix of Push pull? I just love that one :)

Wendy- Dont be too discouraged about your run yesterday. I'd say the heat was definitely a factor, it sure can drain you! I usually start my runs around 0700 and last Saturday I didn't get out til 0900, my pace was ALOT slower and I really felt it.

Pamela - Way to go on your race!!! I can't believe they made such an error on the course. I can understand being off by a tenth of a mile or so but they added a whole extra mile!!! Good for you that you hung in there!!!

Hey Christine! You're doing the infamous killer August rotation?
So much for being a lady of leisure this month! Have you given any more thought to joining Gayle and me in Phoenix next Jan?

Laura- It sounds to me like you are starting to recover your stamina.
(your heart rate improvement, specifically). It sounded like you were seriously ill there so it can take several weeks to get back to where you were. Don't sweat it. In the long run, you'll end up faster for having taken the rest.

Hi Mattea, busy lady! What online course are you teaching? Great workouts!!!

I'll check in later today. Hi Carole--how was Reno?

ShellyC

G'morning Cheetahs!:)

Actually, it is sooo NOT a good morning...it's Monday, remember!? :p LOL

Anywho...I am hoping to get in a f/b weight work out this AM and then get to the gym for a short TM run or possibly a spin class instead and tonight I have my class. :)

Barb: Glad to see you. Enjoy PP and your swim!

Marcia: Hope you can get in a work out today. CONGRATS on the golf prizes-that's so cool!:+

Karen: Welcome back!!! Missed you! Glad to hear you are listening to your doc. Hopefully your IT band will be back in tip-top shape in no time! Glad your hair looks the way you wanted it to!

ShellyC: You do some awesome work outs!!! I had a feeling that heading out for a run at 9am in the summer was the wrong thing to do! LOL

Jess: Bubblegum medicine...YUMMY! I had to give DS antibiotics a few months ago and it smelled of bubblegum as well!:9

Laura: Getting up early after being a lady of leisure for 10 days has GOT to be hard! Don't beat yourself up over it. Enjoy this evening's run. Hope you can go out late enough so that it's cooled down for you!

Good morning Cheetah runners:)

Barb, enjoy your swim today. Our weather has been too bad for a swim lately. Do you do the push pull premix that doubles the workout? I did push pull last week, love the music btw, but I've never tried any of the premixes.

Jess, I think that person also does the same thing to my house, but not just on weekends ;). Glad Allison is feeling better.

Karen, I missed your update about your doctor's diagnosis about your IT band, but it sounds like it's definitely injured. :( I hope you have a speedy recovery, and you're able to get back out there soon.

Shelly, SJP and at least an hour cycling? Have fun with that! I did SJP last Wednesday, and while it was fun, I definitely did not feel up to cycling afterwards. (but then again, you are bionic! :D)

Marcia, congrats on your golf prizes. Sounds like you had a fun weekend.

I don't know what I'm doing today. I know I'm not up for the August rotation (sorry Christine!), and I feel I need to focus a bit on building muscle since I let that slide a bit recently. Maybe the March strength rotation or maybe I'll make up my own.

Happy workouts everyone, and hi to all who follow!

Marcia--nice job on the putt and drive work and prizes. How fun!! With that board meeting tonight, maybe the optimal workout is lying down with ice on your head??? LOL

Karen-- So great your hair turned out nicely and you did it yourself. hair color experimentation is a little scary, but marvelous when it turns out well. Enjoy your workout today. Glad the ITB is steadily betting better.

Jess-- It's nice you have your group of friends to work out with. Sounds like your training is going well and congrats on the Family Circle article/photo. I'll try to take a look at it this week.

Laura -- good luck getting back into the work swing. Hope your run goes well after work.

Shelly -- thanks for the nice words about advice and the welcome. Cycling sounds fun. I'm toying with the idea of going on a bike ride with DH next weekend. Mostly just to do something with him, since he can't run due to prior knee issues and if we swim together, it's not a chat time. Have fun with SJP -- I love that tape except for step combo #3....
Keep me posted on what you think about P90x. It's been a big change for me to switch it up (from Cathe), but a good one. I feel like Core Synergistics has really helped me with running. The upper body workouts are just structured differently and a nice change: very challenging and an invitation to me to be honest and say: "How much weight do I need to use so that I actually attain muscle failure in 12-15 reps?" Also, I really like Stretch X. I am learning a lot an hope you enjoy the DVDs. Tony is a hoot (IMO!!).

Wendy -- ambitious to do spin before your run class tonight!! I find spinning really hard. good luck with the f/b workout and your day. It's is Monday indeed! }(

Pamela-- weather is definitely a factor, but interesting because around here pools don't close unless it thunders so last week, I got to swim in the rain, which was just a fun thing to do -- and great because the pool was not crowded. Let us know what rotation you decide to do. I am not up for the Aug. 2005 rotation either!! Ten-hut!

Hi to all who check in later:
Carole -hope your trip was fun
Hi: Elaine, Gayle, Thomasina, Mattea (I'm scouring the cookbooks for veggie burger recipes. You inspired me!) and everyone else, gotta go, my kids are calling me to help clean their rooms. Gotta seize the opportunity!!

Good morning cheetahs!

Pamela...geeze...that is WAY off for them measuring for your 5K! I can see a few tenths but 4.2 miles instead of 3.1! WOW!!! You did great sticking it out and still getting the pace you wanted...way to go! I think that person also messed up my house this weekend while I was away....and my DH just let them!!!!!

Wendy..sorry about your outside run yesterday! I doubt your warm up had anything to do with it...sometimes it is just one of those days!..:)...enjoy your workout today whatever you do!

Christine...glad you decided on a rotation, I need to do that after this weekend.

Barb...I am glad your hip is healing up. P90X Back & Biceps is a tough one but one of my favorites. Shoulders & Arms is my no 1! Crosstraining is very beneficial...Have fun at the pool today!

Laura...a 240 HR sounds WAY high, even for being sick. Have you done any kind of test to determine your Max HR? Speedwork is the best way to get faster, or running with someone fast once in a while. I am sure your speed will return in a few weeks...be patient..:)..I hope your work day goes fast today!

Mattea...sounds like you have been very busy! You have had some good workouts. You could try some tanning lotions for those lines...So your SIL's wedding is this coming weekend?

Jess...you will LOVE the GS workouts!!....http://smilies.sofrayt.com/%5E/r/dance.gif[/img] Way to go on your 12 miler...that is great Allison is feeling alot better..:)

Marica...good job golfing!!!

Karen...I have done Keli Roberts workouts before. She is good. Glad to hear your IT band is healing up. I am also happy your hair turned out...:)

Shelly...SJP is such a fun workout, and happy you caved for P90X!!!

Reno was so fun!!! No, I didn't win big...but those machines can be quite addicting. The wedding was very nice and it was so nice to see both of them again. The bride (Vicki) has always had this gorgeous naturally curly hair and she looked beautiful! We stayed at Circus Circus on the 27th floor....wow....what a view. I'll get some pics on Picture trail maybe today. It was actually nice not to workout. (We did walk quite alot though) I think my body really needed the rest. Funny as I only get toe cramps. I was stretching saturday night in my sleep and got this killer cramp in my calf!!! YEOW...it still is tender, I have no idea what sparked that off...

I am running this morning after a good stretch and maybe a TLT workout later as I'll be doing light weightwork this week before my 50K sat!!

Have a great day...:)

Hi Runners!

I have read all cheetah posts from yesterday and today, but am on a tight schedule. So no personals. I enjoy keeping up with all of your news though!!

We move on Friday and Sat and have so much to get through this week.

Today I did PS Chest, Shoulders and Triceps; then I ran with my girlfriends we planned on 6 but I kept going and then checked with car. I completed 7.4 and did a good stretch for my hips and legs afterwards.

PS- Marcia I just wanted to congratulate you on winning longest drive!!!! Dh and I really enjoy golfing. In fact we are moving to a golf course.

Judy "Likes2bfit"

If you fail to plan, then you plan to fail.

Good morning Cheetah Babes!

Barb – Sounds like a lovely day on tap! Enjoy!

Marcia – Great job on the prizes! I would be excited too! That’s great! Good luck with your board meeting tonight!

KAREN!!!! We’ve missed you too!!! I’m so happy you love your hair! That’s wonderful! And I’m glad you’re IT Band is coming back. 10 miles is better than nothing. You’ll get there again.

Shelly - I’m still thinking. I figure I have a few months. Depends on how I do with my running again. But do keep pushing me. I’m definitely interested!

Jess – glad to hear Allison is doing better!!! I remember the bubblegum medicine – it was the only one DD13 would take! J I’m also doing a bit of CleanMax today, so I understand the weekend trash syndrome – if you catch the person, let me know!

Laura – I KNOW the feeling of getting up and working out when you have vacation! Hope your run goes really well this evening!

Wendy – sounds like you have a nice full day! Let us know how the class goes!

Pamela – No worries!! I’m looking at it with a raised brow this morning wondering what the heck I got myself into! So I know what you mean. The march rotation looks good – just add a bit of running and you’ll have a wonderful rotation!

Carole! Glad to see you enjoyed Reno! I get cramps at altitude as well. Even when I haven’t done something killer. I wonder if it’s the oxygen levels. Hope you feel better soon! I’ll bet you’re so stoked for you 50k! I told DH that you were doing 50K, and a trail run at that and he thought I was pulling his leg!

Well, yep, I decided to bite the bullet and due the August rotation. Of course, half way through it I have my trip to Hawaii, but as that’s a family vacation, and the kids sleep in (I can’t understand that but they do), DH and I will workout in the morning. We're also planning to do that early morning trip up the volcano to watch the sun rise, then mountain bike down (talk about an upper body workout!) So, I’m hoping to keep strength up to come back and complete it. Maybe I’m nuts, but I started yesterday. I’m going to sub a 4 mile run today for Imax 1 (as I’m not a big fan of that one). I know I have the 10k on Sunday, but that’s when the 5 mile run is scheduled, and I’ll take Sat off anyway. And I know I can run 6 miles. So, Carole, or anyone, let me know if I’m just totally wacked and should rethink this. I do tend to bite off more than I can chew.

Oh, speaking of vegetarians... I got a new cookbook - the Vegetarian Grill. We've been having a blast cooking from it. Last night we made a pasta that had grilled peppers (red, yellow, green and orange), grilled garlic (like roasted garlic) and basil. It was incredible. I'm going to grill some lentil burgers tonight (hamburgers for the kids) that have raika (yogurt, cucumbers and cilantro) for a sauce. DH is laughing at me because ever since i got this cookbook, I've been doing nothing but planning meals and eating. I just feel healthier when I eat vegetarian.

Barb, No spinning today...got moving too late for that. LOL

Carole, Glad you had a good time this weekend! Back to reality..it stinks, doesn't it? :p

Judy, Wow, the move is coming up FAST! I was helping a friend with her move yesterday and remember my own quite vividly into this house...soooo much work!!! No doubt you'll be getting a good u/b work out come moving day!}(

Christine, Glad you are enjoying your cookbook so much! The dishes you mentioned sound very yummy!:9

Here's my work out for today, not including my running class...

GYM:
16 reps x 3 sets each of a quad, hamstring, inner & outer thigh machine.
32 reps on the roman chair.
Fast paced 3 mile TM run. The run took me 29.51 seconds and that is phenominal for me! I used my Itread w/o for the first 25 mins and then moved on to my own pace but I made sure I had it "kicked up" at the end even though I really just wanted to fall over!:7 ;) }(

HOME:
50 weighted walking lunges.
MM upper body push pull premix
MM ab work

I treated myself to overpriced but yummy protein shake at the gym after my work out so that I would have the energy to do what I needed to do at home right away w/o stopping to eat and now that I am done, I am eating a well deserved lunch!:9

Wendy - that is quite a workout! And that protein shake sounds like a well deserved treat! YUM!!!

I ended up running 4.2 miles this morning, then 200 walking lunges (per the rotation - I subbed a run for IMax). I followed that up with half an hour of Stretch X (from P90X). Felt good.

So now I'm waiting for the UPS Driver. We have a shipment of champagne coming in and they said that it would be here between 10 and 2:30. It's now 1:00 and they are not here. Normally they leave packages on the front step, but this is alcohol and has to be signed by someone over 21. DD13 got invited to Great America (an amusement park), so she's gone and it's quiet in the house. Weird! I have things to do, but I have to wait for UPS... Oh well, it IS nice to be home and not worry about going to work though!

Ahhh, CleanMax is accomplished, just got done w/ MM a little bit ago & now I seriously need a shower! 2 dd's are still napping which I'm glad about since they'll be getting to bed late this whole week w/ VBS from 6-8!

Sorry no time for personals today!! Have a great night!

Hugs,

Hello again! I finished SJP and was going out for a bike ride when I ran into the UPS man. Guess what he had for me....P90X!!!! I wasn't expecting it for another week or so, it sure came fast:)
Well, so much for the bike ride. I'm taking my new treasures (DVDs)
down to the basement....but what do I try first?

Carole- you and Barb were the prime enablers here re: P90X ;-) It sure sounds like Reno provided a nice break for you. I think it should help tune up your body for your upcoming 50k.

Judy- you haven't mentioned your hip problems for a while....are you better? Great job on your 7+ mile run today.

Christine- Wow...a whole month off and going to Hawaii too? Color me green with envy:p I don't think your workout/run plan for this week sounds like too much for you at all considering your present level of fitness. Your body will tell you if its too much, the trick is listening to it!

Wendy- What an awesome workout for you today!!! I am way impressed.

Time to do some p90x sampling!!!!! Later y'all.

Shelly

Christine...maybe it could have been the altitude?...my calf felt fine in my run today so no worries! I am laughing about pulling your DH's leg...:)...as I am not familiar with the rotation your are doing, I feel with Sat off you will be fine running the 10K in place of a 5 miler. The Vegetarian Grill sounds yummy! And when is the champagne coming?????

Wendy....nah reality is not so bad...to me Reno is kind of a dirty town. I always liked Las Vegas better between the 2. Awesome workout!!! You did deserve that protein shake!

Shelly...Core Synergistics is my opinion for your 1st P90X workout!

The 5 miles I ran felt great! I was so tired last week it was like I was barely getting thru my running! I felt so much better today.

Just a heads up for any of you with sports watches like Heart Rate Monitors, GPS units etc. If you need the battery replaced and don't want to ship it to the manufacturer, but get it done locally go to a jeweler who is familiar with that kind of watch. Do NOT go to a battery replacement shop. I went to the latter and apparently as the watch stopped working 4 days after they replaced the battery, something went wrong. I took it to a jeweler today per Timex's instructions and the watch is basically dead!! The place I took it 1st put the back cover on wrong, condensation got in the watch (which I saw) and it ended up shorting out the whole watch system!!! I am a bit irritated and will see what I can do. Either way I'll be getting a replacement watch..

Off to do a TLT...:)

Carole--infuriating about your watch! HOw annoying. Good luck finding a replacement. Maybe it will be blessing in disguise and you will get a new one that you love even more!

Shelly--Ditto on what Carole said about doing Core Synergistics. I started with that,so did my husband and found it a great intro. I haven't done all the tapes either, so I'm looking forward to the new ones I'm going to get to! What a nice surprise to get them early.

Christine-- is the champagne here yet????}( :p I bet your DD is having a great time, but isn't it weird having someone in the house missing? I'm bowing down to your tackling that Aug. 2005 rotation. Great job on your workout today!

Have a great night everyone!
Barb:) :) :)
