Checkin 1-6-02

Steppingup

Cathlete
Hello everyone! Our first official checkin of the year!!!! I just finished up for the week so I'll go first! I hope everyone has had a wonderful week. It's been a little difficult getting back into the "routine" after having so much free time. My week has been acceptable. I am trying to up my endurance because I have lost quite a bit with my back pain and having to cut down on my workouts. It's a little discouraging but I will get there.

My back is A LOT better but I am still having a small amount of discomfort. I have added in extra stretching every day and that seems to have helped some. I am going to wait and see how the visit goes with the chiropractor this Thursday before I decide when I will starting lifting weights again. It has been since the first of December since I lifted and I can feel the flabbiness accumulating. Yuck! Oh well, I'll do anything to be pain free!!

Enough babbling, here it is!!!

MONDAY: Advanced Step (30 minutes) AND Tamilee's Beginners Stretch

TUESDAY: Greatest Step Workout AND Tamilee's Total Body Stretch (Standing)

WEDNESDAY: Two Workouts in One (2K01) AND Tamilee's TBS (floor)

THURSDAY: Still Steppin (1st section) AND Tamilee's TBS (Standing)

FRIDAY: Still Jumpin (1st section) AND Tamilee's TBS (floor)

SATURDAY: Stretching (20 minutes) My own routine. I would have done Tamilee's Beginners Stretch but hubby had taken over the TV so I just did my own thing.

I had fun this week and hope I can increase my 30 minutes to at least 35 minutes next week. I hate that I have lost ground but that's life.

Okay, I'm ready to read about ya'lls week!!!

Hi! I am new to this board, but not new to fitness. I'd like to join in here and post my past week workouts. I have been reading these boards the past week or so, and really enjoy them. I have been an avid exerciser for 16 years, but my diet has been less than stellar the last couple of years. Coming here has kept me very motivated! Okay..I'll be quiet for now!

Monday -- Can't remember (last year's log book already put up)
Tuesday -- The Firm, Vol. 3
Wednesday -- Reebok Intense Moves; Abs.
Thursday -- The Firm Upper Body, Firm Floor Legs, and Abs.
Friday -- Voight's Energy Sprint w/ab portion.
Saturday -- Cathe's Interval Max; Abs.

Okay...that's it for now!! Excellent week nutritionally and physically!!! :)

fit@home

Glad to see you here, fit@home :). Your workouts sound great....Intense Moves and Interval Max both in the same week! :-wow We are going to start up a weight loss checkin (it can also be for just eating 'right') so you may want to join in!

I have been debating whether to get the Tamilee stretch tapes. Do you really like them Kelly? If they are good, I'll have to see if CKsales can get them.

Monday........PS legs (including abs)

Tuesday.......only about 20 minutes of Still Stepping and then I went on to do the Stepping Zone (without the abs).

Wednesday.....PS chest, shoulders, triceps...wanted to do a stretch or cardio but didn't have the time then and didn't make the time later in the day!

Thursday......Step Heat (including abs)

Friday........Still Jumping and Pure and Simple Stretch

Saturday......PS back and biceps (including abs) and Urban Training

Sunday........Nothing......yet but I think I'll do something like Angles, Lines and Curves or a Yoga.

I was much better than last week! :).

Hello and Happy New Year to all. I started back last week after taking two weeks off to have some varicose veins removed. Feeling much better but still sore. Tried running Thursday and had to stop after five minutes and walk on treadmill on an incline. The pounding is still too much.

Am very excited because I started another Slow & Heavy rotation last week and I'm really loving these workouts.

Monday -- SH Biceps/Triceps and Walk 1 1/2 hours.

Tuesday -- 20 Minute Aerobic Solution Lifecycle & Abs.

Wednesday -- SH Legs & Shoulders

Thursday -- 5 minutes of running 15 minutes of walking on incline & Abs. Yoga class at gym.

Friday -- SH Chest/Back & Power Yoga at gym.

Saturday -- 20 Minute Aerobic Solution Lifecyele & Abs.

Sunday -- SH Triceps/Biceps

Musclemaiden: Two questions for you - can anyone post to this thread or is it a specific group? Also, what is the Aerobic Solution Lifecycle? I do over half my cardio on my Lifecycle R7i, but I'm unfamiliar with that program. Thanks, Katie

Great news about your back Kelly! And have I told you I love Eeyore!

Join in!

We'd love to have you. I'm not musclemaiden, so I can't answer your other question.

Andrea

I'd like to join the check-ins, too :)

This week I did:

Wednesday -- Cardio Kicks
Sunday -- Hi/Low of MIC plus Kathy S. Ultimate Stomach & Thighs

I have been an at-home exerciser for years (mostly with Cathe) but haven't done much for the last few months, and so was really feeling these - especially the stomach & thighs tape which I had never tried before. The floor work is great on that one!

Sandi

Wow, a new year AND new people joining the Check-In! How wonderful....

Welcome, new people! You'll love it here...

Kelly: I was wondering about the Tamilee Stretch DVD also....do tell! Hope your back is better!

MuscleMaiden: I feel the EXACT same way about the S&H Series....I almost dread when I need to take a break from them. Right now I'm going into my 4th week of a rotation with them, and I may just go straight into a 5th!

Okay, here's my week:

Monday: Got up too late for work to get a workout in.

Tuesday: S&H Chest/Back

Wednesday: S&H Biceps/Triceps/Abs (My arms always feel so pumped after this workout!)

Thursday: AGAIN overslept!

Friday: S&H Shoulders/CTX All Step Cardio/Abs

Saturday: MIC (I am still always amazed at myself when I complete this whole workout!)

Sunday: S&H Legs (would have done some cardio but had to get off to a brunch!)

We're supposedly having a huge snowstorm tonight so am figuring I should not be able to get into work tomorrow, thereby leaving me LOTS of time for a good long workout....

Have a good week everyone!

Terri

Wendy

First of all, welcome to all the newcomers. Everyone can be included in these checkins so come one, come all! :)

Andrea: I love Eeyore too. He was always my favorite. I think I idenify with him way too much! LOL! I really don't complain that much...really I don't.

Susan and Terri: I LOVE Tamilee's stretching tapes. The Stretch for Beginners is 30 minutes and is just your basic stretches. The scenery is beautiful and Tamilee is very calm and reassuring. She doesn't make you feel bad if you cannot stretch as far as she can. By the way, she is not all that flexible anyway compared to say a dancer. The Total Body Stretch has 3 10-minutes segments which is perfect to add on to another workout. Same great instruction and great scenery. They are just your basic stretches, nothing fancy, but it feels really good. Hope this helps a little.

My first week of the new year resolution has gone pretty well I might say. I focused on clean eating and writing down everything I ate. I did excellent this week! Yippee!! My workouts werent as stellar as usual, but I'm so pumped that I resisted potato chips this week that I wont get too down about the extra rest day this week! Now it's time to push ahead to week #2.

Monday...Step Max
Tuesday...PS CST and practiced Kristin Kagen's Step This Way (I got this one for xmas and still haven to learn the moves)
Wednesday...Cardio Kicks
Thursday...planned rest day
Friday...UNplanned rest day :(
Saturday...PS BBA and recumbent bike for 35 minutes
Sunday...Step Jam (the biking the day before made my legs feel like lead today!)

Tomorrow I do my first weekly weigh-in and I'm NOT going to get discouraged if the scale hasnt budged b/c I really did great on my eating this week.

:)Stacy

Thank you for the welcome everyone! I am newly back to exercise after a 6 year break (I am a certified step aerobic instructor and former cyclist) I got up to 265 with my last pregnancy - and although a lot of the weight gain was related to my high blood pressure - neither issue resolved for a LONG time (my baby will be 4 in April!) I am now down to 185 and exercising regularly. I am focussing on the next 20...that will bring me to 100 pounds lost and within 25 pounds of my ideal weight for the Air Force (mandatory weight loss or I lose my job). I have all Cathe's DVDs and I really want to lift weights but I keep hearing advice along the lines of "You'll be so BIG!" or "You'll bulk up too much!" So, I keep postponing what I know in my heart is the right thing to do.

So...thats where I've been and where I'd like to go.

Here's this week:

Sunday: Treadmill intervals 45 min, 30 min recumbent cycling (65% MHR)
Monday: 30 min cycling (70% MHR)
Tuesday: 60 min cycling (75% MHR)
Wednesday: 60 min (75-80% MHR)
Thursday: 60 min (85% MHR)
Friday: 90 min (70% MHR)
Saturday: 45 min intervals (60-90% MHR)
Today: Rhytmic Step

See you next week. I'll be looking for the weight loss post. Katie

Pump That Iron!

You won't get big. Both of my BIL's are in the Air Force. One just got stationed at Travis and the other one is overseas...yikes!

Andrea

Thur: Latin Groove

Fri: Firm Vol 1 from push-ups to the end.

LAST EDITED ON Jan-07-02 AT 06:01AM (Est)[p]Oh, PLEASE! I get so tired of hearing that old saw, "You'll get big" or "You get BULKY" that I could scream! I would guess that the folks who are giving you these warnings have not lifted a weight in their lives, am I right? Even Denise Austin, who caters to the rank beginners uses weights, even if they are wimpy weights.

You can use high reps and low weights if you are still buying into that BS, just to get you started. Let me ask you, does Cathe look BIG and BULKY?!!!!!! Enough said.....please go ahead and lift weights, and good luck with your continued weight loss and shaping up program. http://plaudersmilies.de/person/hippy.gif

If you are in the Air Force, you must have access to some weight trainers. Please get an educated opinion from them, and lend a deaf ear to the baloney.

I couldnt have said it better myself!!

Happy Weightlifting to all!!

P.S. It's now Monday morning and I just did my first weigh-in.....I lost 2 pounds!! Yippee!! I know you shouldnt let the scale rule your life, but it sure is great for motivation when the numbers this week are smaller than last week! Have a great week everyone!

There's not a thing wrong with weighing in....I've got myself down to once or twice a week, and I feel it is a good reality check.

Hi my friends!

Good to "see" you all and a few new ones! Glad to have you join us. You'll like it here! I'm a lil' late posting my workout but decided to go ahead anyways. I got hit big-time this past week by the Flu-Bug!http://www.plaudersmilies.de/bee.gif Whew, it was a nasty one. My niece came over Christmas Day with it. Everyone in the family at my house (about 15 of us) had gotten it one after the other except my son, Kennedy & me. I thought after 10 days we were clear and then my son came down with it Wednesday and I got it Thursday! :-( I had even done IMax and a practice of Hi/Lo routines earlier in the day and felt great. It hit me like a brick wall about 8:30 that night. Spent that night and the whole next day in bed (or the bathroom!http://www.plaudersmilies.de/crying2.gif) By Saturday, I felt MUCH better, but it is still lingering a bit. Off & on I feel a bit queasy but not enough to stop me. Hope it doesn't come to your town soon. STAY Healthy! Okay, enuf, rambling~here's my week:

MONDAY~Started a rotation of Slow & Heavy again! LOVE this series! S&H-LEGS & SHOULDERS, MIC, Hi/Lo section only

TUESDAY~S&H-TRICEPS & BICEPS, CTX-Kickbox Cardio

WEDNESDAY~Spin with Jay, S&H-CHEST & BACK, also plankwork

FRIDAY~Unplanned rest day! UNPLANNED flu-bug!

SUNDAY~REST!

Have a great week all and again, WELCOME to the newcomers!!
