Sorry to hear about your hurting knees. I did something to my knees a few months back too and I ended up having to do lighter weights during strength training and the same cardio (but definitely minus much of the jumping/power). I did this for about 3-4 weeks and the twinges cleared up. Of course, if you think it's something more serious, you may need to consult a physician. Good luck !!
BTW, glad to hear your DVD player is back on track. We just got our multi-disc player back on Monday after THREE WEEKS in the shop...they certainly took their sweet time but it seems to finally be working okay .
