check in 11/12

Back on track (?)

I was gone for a month to Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and China. I had resolved to do push-ups every day. Guess how many days I did my push-ups: zero. I did walk and walk and walk, though. I was very excited that my new Cathe DVDs arrived just after I got home and not a moment before! So after a week of bad jet lag and a bad cold, I'm working my way back.

sunday: Kathy Smith Latin Workout part 1 + PS Biceps + Millennium Stretch

monday: Kathy Smith Step Workout + PS Triceps

tuesday: worked the polls for 13 hrs. and 14 min. :p (hope you all were nice to your local election judges--it's a long day!)

wednesday: Circuit Max Warm-up, push-ups and planks + PS Chest + PS Back + Circuit Max stretch

thursday: FIRM Prime Power Lower-Body Shaping (Ouch! All those dips!)

I'm traveling again, but was good today with walking my host's grateful dog and then doing push-ups and a bit of xertube. Working at camp this Wednesday-Sunday---hope I can keep it up!

checking in late

Mon - overslept; 25 min walk at lunch
Tues - a.m. Kathy Smith Fat Burning Breakthrough
Wed - a.m. PS CST - light weights because I stayed up too late watching the election returns
Thurs - nothing - overslept
Fri - same as Thurs
Sat - out of town
Sun - p.m. Method Precision Toning - I've had this tape for a long time but this was the 1st time I did more than the first 15 minutes of it. My abs are still really sore. I was so sore yesterday that I couldn't do cardio. It hurt just to walk. Usually when I do abs only my upper abs get sore but this tape made me sore in my upper and lower abs and obliques. I will definitely be doing this tape again.

I have been exercising regularly for 11 weeks now. My results are mixed. On the positive side, my hubby has told me several times (without prompting) that my rear view has firmed up. My jeans are also a bit looser in the hips and rear. I have more energy for the most part and am feeling tons better. On the negative side, I have been taking prednisone for my ulcerative colitis for about 3 months now and have gained 8 pounds despite exercising. I think this is about half fluid retention and half too much junk food. My face has puffed up to the point that I can hardly see my once prominent checkbones and I have 2 chins. I can't wear my wedding ring because my fingers are too puffy. I
am also finding it difficult to fasten my jeans in the am due to the fluid retention in my abdominal area. The dr says that the fluid retention will start to alleviate when my dosage tapers to 10 mgs and will go away completely once I am off the medicine. Unfortunately, I have at least 5 more weeks before I reach the 10 mgs mark and at least another 6 weeks after that before I can go completely off the medicine.

Sorry for the long whining post. I'm just feeling a little discouraged today.

Hope everyone has a good week!

Hang in there Christina!

Concentrate on the postives, such as the looser jeans, the energy level and most of all how you are feeling TONS better!! Thanks for the review of precision Toning. I THINK I have that tape?? (That's terrible not to know!) I think maybe I'll give it a try here soon. Again, stay focused on all the great things that are happening to you, not to mention the nice compliment from your hubby. Hi Trevor!

Yes, I'm still here. I haven't been posting much, due to a crazy work schedule and a killer sinus infection & cough that wiped me out for 3 weeks. I kept up a half-hearted workout schedule during that time.

I'm dying to hear about your trail run though. I was out in California on vacation a few weeks ago and found a nature trail in Yountville, CA that was wonderful. I was running early in the morning by myself and suddenly felt a little spooked -- as if someone was watching me -- I turned to look behind me in time to see a deer leap across the trail -- maybe 4 yards behind me. What a thrill.

I forced myself to run in a Veterans Day 10-K on Sunday -- I am completely de-trained, but couldn't ignore a race that celebrated Veterans Day (I come from a long line of veterans) AND was held on my 41st birthday! Yay me! It was a beautiful race course, right past the Jefferson Memorial, around Hains Point and back, on a beautiful day. I finished slow -- 6 minutes slower than a year ago on the identical race course -- but it was a great way to start off the year. I'm so glad I did it.

I'm happy to hear how well Michelle's pregnancy is going. What a miracle it is.

Hey Debbie!

Thanks for the pep talk! It was just the positive kick in the rear that I needed to get over feeling sorry for myself and back to focusing on the positive things. I am going to focus on the fact that I feel so much better and can do so much more than I could 3 months ago. This am I did Step N Intervals cardio, CTX Chest, Back, & Shoulders, and the Abs from Power Circuit. Before I went on the prednisone and started feeling better, the warmup of Step N Intervals would have wiped me out.

I really enjoy reading all your posts. You are always so positive and helpful!

Thanks again,

Christina

Did you hear that????

Sounds like a train derailing!...yup getting off track:-tired. Not a huge fan of this time of year, I never seem to be able to stay focused. I did manage to workout last week..I think I'll double up on Sunday and post both weeks..maybe both weeks together will look like one;-)
