CHECK-IN 1/27/01

Wow, you guys have done one tough week of workouts!

Kelly: You're a better person than I! I NEVER answer the phone when it rings when I'm working out!!! Thank God for answering machines!

Andrea: Congratulations!

Aimee: Doing yoga everyday? Wow, I'm impressed. I'm trying to make myself do it at least 2-3 times a week but have yet to get past once a week!

So here's my week:

Monday: Nothing
Tuesday: PS Chest & Shoulders/Ab work
Wednesday: CTX Back, Plank Work, Abs
Thursday: CTX 10-10-10, Biceps, Triceps
Friday: TaeBo 3, MIS Legs
Saturday: Nothing, too nervous about going to the dentist!
Sunday: Worked out with my husband at the gym. Did Chest, Shoulders and Triceps. He showed me this GREAT tricep machine at the gym which I've never used before...LOVED it!!!

Hope everyone has a healthy week!

Terri

Not a banner week

Congrats on the babies!

Haven't been doing too much the past couple of weeks due to stomach bug followed by a cold. :-tired Mostly I've just been doing the hiking necessary for work--fortunately, it's been at fifth-grader pace so not too bad.

TUESDAY: hiking at work (2 miles)
WEDNESDAY: hiking at work (3 miles)
FRIDAY: brutal thigh workout via broomball game on pond at work (1.5 hours) -- was the only woman who dared to go out and run around on the ice; one opted out, the other two played goalie, so am feeling overly proud :-gloat of mountain woman self and have many nasty bruises to prove bravery/stupidity
SUNDAY: FIRM Maximum Body Sculpting; M&F Hers ab workout on balance ball (movement exercises)

Found out why I haven't been able to make any endurance gains for a while. Turns out I've had a post-surgical infection for several months, and now need another surgery to correct the damage. x( Fortunately, it's outpatient, and I'm looking forward to how much better I'll be feeling once it heals up. :D

In the meantime, I'm recommitting myself to five workouts a week, one dedicated to flexibility, and actually working my abs for once.

:) Gretchen

Hello Jacob Allen Henry!

Congratulations Andrea to you and your family! Your oldest is a male too isn't he? I bet he's happy & curious about this newcomer.

Only a true enthusiast would be thinking of a CTX rotation one week after childbirth! Take care.
Debra

Hi everyone!
Wendy, ouch! Take care.
Julie can't imagine doing the Classics on consecutive days. How do you feel?
Erica, oh no! How painful.
Trevor, not too bad for a sleep deprived papa!

Another rainy week here in California & the threat of blackouts still looms. I'm working out with my sister a couple of days. Gave her Cathe's Wedding tape a year ago when she became engaged. Now it's 6 months to the wedding & well ..., she needs to get moving. This is a great tape for someone who's a beginner or who's been on a fitness sabatical.

Monday: Wedding tape muscle conditioning w/ sister
Tuesday: Pilates mat class; cycle 22 miles (rolling)
Wednesday: Spinning; Wedding tape muscle cond. w/ sis
Thursday: Pilates mat class
Friday: MIS (solo)
Saturday: Spinning (still stormy)
Sunday: Cycle 45 hilly miles w/ DH

Husband & I have had different ideas on training tactics. He wants to do longer, flatter rides & I think we need to do more hills w/ less distance. He did some hill work on his weekday ride & decided we'll be doing more hill work in the next few weeks ;-)!

Have a healthy week everyone! Hopefully we won't have as many injuries next week.

1-2-3 rotation

Last week after doing v1 and 2 I was quite sore...I haven't done ANY floorwork since October so I was dying! But I'm missing Cathe's CTX series...think I'm going to combine Cathe and the Firm for a little while end of Feb. Off to do v1 again!
:D julie :D

Great Week & Smilies

Debbie - homemade multi-grain bread - what a terrific reward for the great week you had, especially MIS - that and IMAX are my favorites (except for the days when CST and Stepworks are my favorite, or the days when....). I'm still nursing an injured hip flexor and a pinched nerve so I'm living through you guys and this check out for a couple more weeks at least. (Cathe needs to add a "whiny" face to the icon list for times like these.)

Thanks for the help on the smilies (I'm sure Cathe had them make a confused face :-hmmm just for me) so I only have one more question - how does Julie get them to be so much bigger than regular smilies?

JanetH

PS: The sweet potato casserole is still on the menu regularly :9

Hi Janet!

When I need a "whiny face", I just use the mad one! :-mad Maybe I'm not seeing what you are, but Julie's smilies don't look bigger on my computer??? Does anyone else out there think they are bigger then the other faces? Maybe, I'm just not understanding you either, Janet, which very well can be. It is almost midnight and I have had a terrible sinus infection all weekend. It got so bad at my class today, I lost my voice. NOT GOOD when you have to call out routines!!!

Sorry to hear that you are still recovering. Is it getting better? What a bummer, huh? GET WELL!!!

IMAX & MIS are two of my favs, along with CTX, CircuitMax, MIC, BodyMax, yada, yada, yada!!! They are ALL MY Favorites!!:D Glad you are enjoying the sweet potato casserole. Your-Friend-In-Fitness, DebbieH :)

RE: Hi Debbie!!!

Oh man!!! I keep forgetting to email you!! I'm so sorry! So you liked the Yoga for Dummies? I have another tape with Sara Ivanhoe. She's very ummmm.......uplifting? I don't know how to describe her. I like her style though. Totally nonintimadating. If you want, I'll let you borrow my other tape with her in it. That way you can try before you buy. If you want it, just let me know. Ok, I WILL EMAIL YOU!!! I promise! Have a good week!

Aimee

Twilight Zone

It could be my computer, or my brain or aliens, but often times the smilies in Julie's posts are about twice as large as the regular ones. Never mind...I'll go call the guys in white coats now.

How do you manage to exercise, not to mention teach, with a bad sinus infection. I hope your class appreciates your dedication.

Get better soon!

JanetH

Oh brother, another double post...as if you need further proof as to my lack of state of mind.

They're...

...coming to take you away, Ha-Ha!! Just kidding! Thanks for the well wishes! Whew, it wasn't easy teaching yesterday. Today I wasn't 100% but much better. My students are great and very understanding. Luckily, I am off tomorrow. I am actually thinking of doing MegaStepBlast tomorrow. It has been ages since I did it but I have recommended it several times lately to others, so I have the itch. I've been keeping up on your injury in your posts. I feel so bad. What a bummer! Hope the therapy starts to help real soon. Hang in there. Maybe, I need to go back thru a few of Julie's posts and see one of these BIG smilies. :D Your-Friend-In-Fitness, DebbieH :)

Hi Aimee!

I really like Sara in my tape too. She is sooo laid back. The only draw back of the tape is that she explains all the poses very detailed (which is good first or second time around). The last time I did the video I had the remote next to me and would fast forward to the beginning of each pose as not to waste time. What is the name of the other tape she is in? Is it Joy of Yoga? I am wondering if they have it at Best Buy or somewhere near here. Thanks for the offer to lend it to me. I was thinking by the time we mail it back and forth two times, maybe I should just buy it?? Do you like it compared to other Yoga tapes? I trust your judgement. I think the Y4D tape might be a bit easy for you as it is just learning the basics and I am sure you have that down. THANKS again for the offer. Your-Friend-In-Fitness, DebbieH :)

RE: It was my first and

still one of my favorites!! In fact I just did it this morning!! Right now this is my list(#1 being the one I like best):

1) Ali MacGraw Yoga Mind and Body

2) Crunch's Joy of Yoga(you should be able to find it in stores)

3) Yoga Zone's Yoga for Weight Loss

4) Yoga Zone's Total Body Conditioning

5) Bryan Kest Power Yoga Vol 2

6) Power Yoga for Beginners with Rodney Yee

Now with the Rodney tape I like the workout, but it is only 20min long, I like for yoga to last at least a half an hour. The two YZ tapes are short segments, but they have two on one tape, so I do them back to back for one extended workout. As for Bryan K, I just didn't like his style. It always seemed like he touch the students and little too much. But if I just concentrate on his voice and I don't look at the t.v., it's a good workout too. Ok, that's it, that's the list;-)! I hope this helps ya'!

Talk about Embarrassed!

I didn't realize that Joy of Yoga was a "Crunch" tape. I went downstairs to all my tapes that are categorized by either instructor or company, and guess what tape I found??? Joy of Yoga!!!:-jumpy The shrink wrap has been taken off so I guess maybe I tried it a LOOOONG time ago and just forgot. Duuuuh! I feel spoiled ( and a lil' like an airhead!!) that I have so many tapes, I don't know all their names.:7 Anyways, I was tickled pink when it jumped right out at me. It will be my next Yoga tape to try. Thanks, Aimee, for taking the time to write all your favs down. It gives me a guideline. I'll let you know what I think of J-O-Y soon. Your-Friend-In-Fitness, DebbieH :)

RE: Talk about Embarrassed!

I wait wait to hear what you think of it!! Don't be embarassed, just be glad that you don't have to pay $10.00 now to get it;-)!
