I don't know how many of you were aware, but I took the exam to become of certified personal trainer through AFPA and sent it in for grading about a week before I left on vacation. It was supposed to take 4-6 weeks to get the results back but to my surprise it was waiting for me when I got home last night and.............

I PASSED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Fitmom,
Wonderful. Congratulations.
How long did it take you?
Can you give me info on all that one
would have to do to become a trainer.
I want to be my own personal trainer:p
Thankx

Congratulations Wendy! Angie told me about you and how well you were doing. I am glad all went so well for you.

Thanks everyone! I knew I could count on you ladies to appreciate that news! ;) You are all so sweet! Thanks again!

Elaine: No customers...well, maybe a friend or two who CLAIM they want to be my guinea pig(s). :p I am going to be applying for a job in a local gym as soon as I get my resume together and get my cpr cert.

Robin: I am not applying in the gym I work for now. It's a great gym and I love being a member but they are crappy to work for. I would apply as a last ditch effort if I have to in order to have somewhere to start but that's about it. I am going to look up all of the other gyms in my area and send my resume to them and see what happens.

Rockael: Feel free to email or PM me with any questions you have and I'll do my best to answer them for you. :)

Hi Wendy,

Congratulations!That is awesome!

I just wanted to tell you that I also took my exam two weeks ago and passed!! I did it through NESTA but had to go take the exam at a Proctored testing site. I think that is a law that just changed a year or so ago here in NY. They just sent my ceritficate in the mail... it's pretty cool!!!

Do you need to continue with CEU's in order to re-certify? I have to re-certify every 4 years. Next I plan to get my certification as a "Fitness Nutrition Specialist" Then as a " Lifestyle and Weight Management Coach". Eventually I will get my Master Personal Trainer Cert. as well, but not yet.

I hope you find a good gym to work at. I currently have a few clients coming to my home gym, ( now I'm official so I plan to increase my fees, but need to get insured first) and I also currently teach classes. I am also looking into a company that has PT's go into people's homes. I'm not much of a gym person, but I still may explore that territory.

Anyway, just wanted to tell you again congratulations. I know how hard that course was! I wish you well... let me know how the job search goes!
