Cathe's Live Classes

Cathlete
I am on the fence about attending the road trip. One of the reasons why I'd like to attend would be to experience Cathe leading a live workout. But tell me, is it a mad, competitive rush to get a decent spot in her class? Somehow I'm envisioning 100 women trying to get to the front of her class.

I'd be disappointed traveling all that way to be in the back of her class when that is the highlight of the whole cathe experience for me.

Thanks,
X

I HAVE NOT ATTENDED A RT MYSELF, BUT AM ALSO SERIOUSLY WANTING TO. I DID POSE THE QUESTION TO THOSE WHO HAVE BEEN BEFORE HOW WELL IT WAS TO SEE CATHE FROM THE BACK OF THE CLASS SINCE SHE IS ON THE SAME FLOOR LEVEL. THE RESPONSE I GOT WAS THAT MOST PEOPLE ARE GREAT ABOUT LETTING SOMEONE IN THE FRONT WHO PREFERS TO BE. I THINK I PUT THE QUESTION IN THE SECTION WHERE THE COORDINATERS WERE ANNOUNCED SO YOU CAN TAKE A LOOK THERE.

GOOD LUCK!
TAMI

Hi X!

Fall off that fence and hit that "SEND" button to try to come! :) You won't be disappointed. A lot of people DO go into the room early to secure a good spot for classes, but honestly, you aren't going to feel a mad, competitive rush. It's a very congenial atmosphere. If you feel that strongly about being in the front of the studio for Cathe's classes, you certainly can do that with no difficulty.

You may also be surprised to find that lots of other factors become true "highlights" of the RT experience for you. ;-)

Having never been on a road trip, but having the good fortune to live not all that far from Cathe's club, I've had the opportunity to take classes with Cathe, and feel 100% confident that the actual classes themselves are only part of the weekend experience. Cathe will go out of her way to make you feel welcome, and I am sure that if you wanted to, you could walk right up to Cathe herself before class, let her know that you're interested in being close, and she'll do everything in her power to make you happy in that regard.

Please don't let the chance you may not get to stand where you'd prefer deter you from going, you'd be missing out on a great experience.

As Jerry mentioned, working out live with Cathe is just one of the highlights of the trip. You'll have plenty of time to talk and interact with Cathe and her crew. Lots of time to take pictures and laugh. Yes, your belly may end up aching from all the laughter you'll be doing. Oh, I do know that many trippers, myself included, created lifetime friendships as a result of attending/working these road trips. Read Heather's post from her experiences from last year's road trip. I truly believe that she captured the essence of what these road trips are. A way of bonding with others on this Forum, seeing Cathe and crew, seeing her filming studio, and taking in all of your surroundings. It is truly a wonderful event that will generate many fond memories and create some awesome friendships! :7

Thanks for your feedback. While I think it would be wonderful to see and meet Cathe in person as well as meet other forum friends, I'm not really a gushing roadie. I tend to be private, reserved and a little independent when it comes to being a fan. (For example, I may not put on my jammies, perhaps some yoga pants, but I understand the intent to have some fun and engage all the participants.)

I really feel that my focus would be experiencing those classes live as I do every morning. I am very focused and intense with my workouts.

I'm leaning towards coming, I just may be an enthusiastic sideliner for a lot of social activities but up close for classes. By the way, I reluctantly will say that I have a visual impairment which is why I am concerned about being in the back of a large class after comitting to coming to Galssboro.

X - There were only a few Rt'ers who made a mad dash for a spot right behind Cathe. I would say most just picked a spot near their friends and with a decent view. We weren't running into the room throwing our underwear at Cathe and mobbing her or anything! :) In fact, you will probably find more competition for the back spots because most people realize that being in the front means that 104 other people have a really good view of you! ;) I stayed a few rows back and to the side.

I was in the back for kickbox (if you saw me kickbox, you know why!), in the middle for the sculpting class, and for the step class I really wanted to be up front, so I made a beeline for the front. But it wasn't difficult to get up there.

X,
I'm a very quiet person in real life (although I can be a blabber mouth online). :D I tend to feel overwhelmed in crowds but didn't get that feeling on the RT. Cathe is just as sweet and kind as can be and there's no pressure to run up and meet her. I always feel shy and awkward around her (because I'm used to her being on my TV, lol) but she makes you feel right at home and comfortable right away.

I've been on the last couple of roadtrips and have never felt the pressure to join into anything I didn't feel comfortable doing. The whole weekend is just FUN! The classes are exciting (no pressure to be perfect, believe me!) And you can get just about any spot in the room because everyone seems to be so accomodating to each other. If you have a preference, get in a couple of minutes before the class starts and set up your stuff up and you'll be ready to go. :)

Hope to see you there,
Kathy G

I participated in the roadtrip last year. I was definitely more on the quiet, reserved side. I pretty much would choose a spot near the back. Even though I did not always have a direct eye's view of Cathe throughout the entire class, it was still amazing! Just hearing her voice live as we all worked out in unison was truly amazing!!You could feel her energy, and the excitement of the roadtrippers. I did not feel a mad rush to get to the front, but then again, I really preferred to stay back a bit, anyways. I think everyone had plenty of room and a decent spot! They also take care of you very well. You will be very well fed, and Cathe and the crew patiently gives everyone who wants it a chance for a picture together, autograph, hug, quick chat, etc. Its also great to meet like-minded people from all over the country, and make new friends. It really is a fun, unforgettable experience, and the coordinators do an excellent job with everything. Take care, Nancy J.~~
