Cathe's back in Collage Video!

Just got my Collage Video paper catalog, and noticed that Cathe's Basic Step / Body Fusion, I-Max2-Cardio+Weights, and Pyramid DVD's are being marketed through them. I thought she and Collage were quits with each other forever!

I'm glad Collage finally wised up and realized they're ignoring a well-muscled cash cow by not having at least some of Cathe's products in their mix. I first learned of Cathe through Collage when I found Interval Max (the original) back in summer 2000. I really don't know where I'd be today if I hadn't!

The collage catalog is where I found Cathe too. I got my catalog in the mail yesterday, I need to check it out.

Hopefully more of her workouts will make it to Collage. Especially since I either have the current workouts in Collage or don't need them (Beginner/Intermediate Step):) .

I first learned of Cathe on a Firm message board. A few gals would say "did a Cathe workout today and...whew!" I had to check out the buzz. It's been me and Cathe ever since! Can't imagine I'd stray!

I quite agree AJ. Cathe was introduced to me via Collage Video also. I remember calling the operator and asking for a refferal. Her reply was "anything by Cathe" . Since then (1998) I have been an avid Catheite! It is nice to see Cathe back in CV.

I discovered Cathe on Collage Video, too. I was reading reviews/comments on a video I was going to purchase and someone commented that if you want a REAL workout, try Cathe Friedrich. I found Cathe.com, purchased Power Hour .. and the rest is history. I now use Cathe exclusively because I've never found anyone better.

I "met" Cathe through Collage too--also w/one of those reviews about the butt kicking workout. It's great that she's getting that kind of exposure again--not so much for her b/c she probably doesn't need it, but surely for those fitness starved women looking for a quality home workout!

I saw that too and was so happy to see that they put her workouts back in :) I found Cathe thru collagevideo too and the rest is history!

Anyone know why Collage stopped distributing Cathe videos in the first place?

I also wonder why Collage didn't list the Pyramids as a "staff favorite."

I too first heard about Cathe thru collage...until now, I have ordered all of my fitness videos through collage almost exclusively (mostly Firm work outs)!

omg!!! wahoo!!! Now I'm looking forward to getting the catalog. I also discovered Cathe through Collage (1996's Power Max), but since they stopped carrying Cathe's workouts now I only buy some pilates and yoga dvds once in awhile. That's great news.

I'm editing to comment on Collage's "staff favorite" seal of approval. I have been buying videos (and now dvds) from Collage for years and years and some of the workouts that were staff favorites were not my favorites and some others I discovered by myself because I trusted the descriptions and I bought them even when they were not staff favorites. Not all Cathe workouts have been staff favorites in the past and Susan, I know we can't understand that, but I'm thinking maybe the staff members are not as strong as us to handle the pressure of the great Cathe }(

I believe that Collage and Cathe came to a parting of the ways when Cathe elected to price her products as SHE saw fit rather than as Collage saw fit (certain of Cathe's pricing structures were far more competitive than Collage's); they showed her the door and she said, "Fine - I'll do things MY way." Although Collage is obviously the Giant Ape in terms of fitness video/DVD clearinghousing, Cathe obviously lost nothing by having the marketing of her products vastly reduced in Collage's catalog. Collage got to the point where they would list her older productions that were still in stock, but not promote any of her newer ones.

Oddly enough, I interviewed for the (very) part-time position as Collage's certified instructor-reviewer several years ago (Collage is located in the greater Twin Cities Minnesota area where I live), and I'm ever thankful that they didn't hire me. I'd've had to have slogged through so many mediocre to crappy workouts that I would've gone bald a long time before I actually did. And you gotta know - one of the co-owners of Collage looks like he hasn't lifted anything heavier than a computer mouse, or like he's broken a sweat or a pant, in decades.

That's not to say that Collage isn't a valuable business; it is. But it's a business in the business of moving vast quantities of product, and elite producers of intense workouts like Cathe tend to have a somewhat more specialized market.

It's great to see Cathe back in Collage. However, if you read the descriptions you will notice that they are slightly inaccurate. For example, they indicate that Cathe's lightest barbell in PUB is 40 pounds. They also describe Cardio and Weights as an interval type of workout. Still, I'm glad they rated these DVDs as staff favorites! :)

It was fun seeing Cathe in Collage again, but after my initial surprise & happiness, I quickly slid back into "couldn't care less".

I found Cathe at Collage too, but put off buying many of her workouts for months due to their descriptions. I think they often make workouts sound WAY too hard for any so-called "normal person" to attempt. I put off workouts from other instructors for the same reason, & now love them.

However, I'm glad Cathe's in the catalogue for the sake of people out there who haven't found her yet.

I enjoy reading my Collage very much, but to tell the truth I rarely buy anything from them anymore. There are so many other cheaper sources...they have always been way expensive in my mind. I order one or two from them periodically so as to keep getting the catalogue!

p.s. Edited to say, Ajock you would've been great in that job! You would have torn those workouts up. But as you say, how could you have kept wasting time with (most of) them once you did a Cathe?? Pure torture!
