Cathlete
Cathe, Hi. My name is Kristen and I am a HUGE fan of yours from Columbus, Ohio. I some questions for you. I discovered you and your videos last year(last Nov). Since then I have obtained over 25 DVDs. I love them all--weights & cardio. I trade off lifting weights in the gym and doing you. In the gym, I am strong and usually lift heavy weights (i.e. 25lbs for shoulder presses). Right now I am going through this phase in which I would rather train with you than go to the gym. However, the weights you use in your workouts are lighter than what I can lift. Here are my two quetions:

1. Do you, on your own, train with heavier weights or are these the weights you use?

2. Will I lose my strength (i.e. 120 lbs for conventional Db deadlifts)if I solely start training with you and forgo the gym?
** I understand it's not always the weight in lbs that matters but
what you do with the weight that changes the muscle **

Please guide me in what to do. My plyo ability has DEFINATELY benefited from you. I am just a little scared of sacrificing my "strength". Anyways, THANKS. Hope to hear from you soon.

Kristen

Not Cathe here, but I also lift heavy and can't wait for her new series to come out (#30 bench press)!! You may benefit from her new series as well.

I do both. I go into the gym and train much heavier, especially for legs and back and some tricep exercises. I can't lift much more than 65lbs barbell over my head at home, so for me I do the rest at the gym. Some weeks I just do more endurance based workouts.

Here is what I am thinking that I am going to do for my "rotation". Since I am in grad school, I need to be efficient in working out, yet, feel that I have gotten a good workout.

Day One: (gym) heavy back and heavy shoulders
cardio: interval training on arc trainer

Day Two: (home) legs: home-made mish-mosh of Cathe's leg workouts
cardio: Drillmax, Imax 3, Bm2, HSTA cardio premixes

Day Three: (home) shoulders, biceps, abs
cardio: kickbox/bootcamp mish-mosh
*KM blast challenge, bootcamp, HSC cardio, BBC

Day Four: (home) chest, triceps, abs
cardio: high intensity step mish-mosh
*Imax 2 blasts, Imax 3 blasts, BM2 circuits,
C&W combo #2 and combo #4

Day Five: (home) legs: home-made mish-mosh [different]
cardio: cardio kickboxing
*K,P,C, KM blasts, Bootcamp, S,J,P hi/low,
step blasts only

Day Six: (home) total body mish-mosh OR gym extra work
cardio: Drillmax mish-mosh ????
**still working on day six...

I do have my own cardio machines at home. so when I have extra time I will include additional cardio in the evenings

kristen...

Just wanted to say that I grew up in Upper Arlington and went to OSU!! I hope you are doing well in Columbus! I live in Chicago now, but GO BUCKS forever!!

Kristen- I pretty much train at home, with one day reserved for the gym to do the stuff I can't at home.....i.e. assisted pull-ups and stuff like that. I lift pretty heavy and discovered the other day how to do heavy squats at home...borrow DH! I am able to get about #80 over my head safely, then have DH add another #15 to each end of the BB and go for it! I don't know what I'll do when I have to lift heavier, though:7 .

>I live in UA also. Right by Kingsdale shopping center. Have
>you heard of Power Shack? That is the gym I belong to!!

Holy!!!! I use to go there all the time!! I miss it, actually! I live in Chicago now, but every time I am home I go to the Shack!! How funny! What a small, small world!

There's a lot of construction at Kingsdale right now, isn't there? They need some great stores!

Well, enjoy the shack for me! It is a great place, a true gym. I cannot believe it! How funny...

Wow! This is a small world! I do like Power Shack, but with all the new & bigger gyms in town, Power Shack's population has decreased. I don't mind that the gym is less crowded, though, give me more space to be my crazy self!! Right now I am doing more Cathe. While she might not lift as heavy as I can go, my ability to do plyos has greatly increased. I love to combine drillmax cardio + imax 3 blasts + BM2 power circuits + HSTA cardio into a workout and then add legs on. ;) Anyways, great to hear from you. Please email me!! Talk to you soon. :9

I am tired just reading your workout!! I am going to steal it!! I am doing a lot of track work this summer. Lots of sprints and bleachers...it feels great!!

I heard there's a Gold Gym there now...that's competition, but I could never leave the shack!! lol!! I will definitely email you! Did you go to UA???

Hi! Good to hear from you: :D No, I did not come to Columbus until deciding to go to OSU for my graduate school. My parents got divorsed, and since my mom's parents live here (she grew up in Clintonville) it was only natural she (we) moved here...from Cleveland. We have been here for about three years. I live here with my youngest brother (also in school) and my mother. My older sister is married and my other brother is in Indianapolis. My father is now re-married and is still in Cleveland--thank goodness! I am 29 and have only one more year of school. My degree is in exercise physiology, naturally ofcourse! Anytime you need a workout, let me know. I have become extremely creative when it comes to Cathe. }( Not only do I mish-mosh workouts, I also mix-match individual exercises to make supersets, trisets, and giant sets. So much fun!!:+

YEAH!! I lived in Cleveland Heights for grad school - went to Cleveland State for Sports Psychology...I worked at the Clinic in Sports Health! I love Cleveland.,..Don't tell, but I love the Browns more than the Buckeyes!! (I know, a SIN in Columbus! ha)I wish I loved the Bucks more...being a Browns fan is so depressing.

Anyway, this is so funny - three Buckeyes!! YEAH Sirenwoman, have you seen the new workout facility at OSU?? It is amazing - sure wish it was there when I was at school!!

Kristen,

PS - GOOD LUCK with the rest of your schooling! You can do it...not much longer. Do you have to write a thesis?

No. I did my intership last year at MediFit in New Albany. All that I have left is a comprehensive test that I will take next summer covering only exercise physiology.

This morning I had a wonderful workout...Kickboxing with legs. Hopefully I'll be sore. Lots of sweat!!

Talk soon }(
