Hi Cathe. I have a strange question.

I finally went to a Podiatrist and found out I had an ulcerated/inflammed bursa under a corn on top of my left little toe.

I may end up having surgery on in it a few weeks and will be in a foot cast for maybe 5 weeks after depending on my recovery.

It is called arthroplasty and it will shave down a bit of the bone on top of the joint. Apparently my small toes are curled up and rub on any enclosed shoe and my New Balance Cross Trainers had a seam that hit the wrong spot. I kept trying to get the corn to go away and made the toe worse.

Anyway,I still want to work out at home and don't want to go to a gym. My feet are fine as long as my small toe is free so to speak. It is a rubbing problem not an impact one.

What do you think about doing step work bare foot? Or doing your Kick Boxing DVDs? I am a bit wary of doing heavy weights but I've never dropped one on my foot with shoes. :)

Have you ever encounterd someone with this toe problem in your studio?

Has anyone worked out wearing Teva's?

I know that you are not going to give me medical advice and I'm not looing for that but the Dr. wants me to work out at a pool and I don't have the time and or money to join a gym and I hate swimming.

A small toe is bring me to my knees so to speak.

Colleen

PS I just ordered a pair of Ryka Rythem Two's. No seam across the toe.

Hi Colleen,

I knew someone with a similar problem and she cut out the small toe area of an older pair of shoes and used those until her toe healed. Maybe this is something you can do. HTH:)

Michelle. I was thinking of doing that. I'm going to go ahead and do it since the shoes are history any way.

I'm glad to hear someone else had this. I'd never heard of it.

Hi Colleen! I see that it has already been suggested that you cut out an area for your toe to be free. Being that your Cross Trainers can't be used as is (at least from now until many weeks after surgery) you might as well make them useable til its time to buy a new pair that fit your repaired toe perfectly. Good Luck!
