Cathe, why won't you tell us...

Hi Cathe,

Why can't you tell us what your diet is like daily? Everyone wants to know. It's just to give us an idea of your daily menu. I understand you can't give us our own personal menu, I just would love to know yours. PLEASE???!!! I would appreciate it, and do you ever have a glass of wine or a margarita? Please reply :)

Thanks,
Amanda

Not Cathe here Amanda, but she has in the past given us her own general dietary guidelines - if you do a search in this particular board you'll find it (I'll see if I can find the link when I get the kids lunch.) But Cathe has repeatedly said that since she is not a registered dietician she will refrain from giving out dietary advice. But she has shared her own before. HTH

While I can understand why Cathe can't give each of us a detailed diet plan, I think it would be interesting to know what she consumes in the course of an average day...sometimes it's easy to get overwhelmed with what to eat, when to eat it, etc. So to hear her detail things about her diet helps people understand, because most of the people that are interested in her, I believe view her as a success in this area! I know I do! So, Cathe - I second the request for any info you're willing to give out! :)

Thanks, that would be great. I know Cathe has to be careful on dietary advice since she isn't a dietician, I just really want to know her daily menu. Thanks again for replying & if you get that link, please let me know.

Amanda:)

I actually think it's really smart of Cathe to not share this information because she is quite tiny and every body is different. Because Cathe is such a role model for so many of us, I'm sure there are those who would mimic her daily food intake calorie for calorie and expect to look like her. I'm not saying I'm not curious myself, I just think it's probably wise of Cathe to not go too much into detail.

(Please don't flame me, these are just my thoughts.)

if she answered nutrition questions she would have to respond to twice as many questions. i agree with the above poster as well about people trying to follow her exact eating pattern. she also isn't a licensed nutritionist/dietician so i think she may be covering her a** by not giving out that type of advice. but i too would love to know what one day of her eating looks like just out of curiosity:)

I believe Cathe has posted some general guidelines as to what she eats in the past for interest's sake, but I don't really believe it's necessary that she posts about this in fine detail because everyone is different and what works for Cathe may not work for you.

I do a lot of Figure Prep work here in Australia and let me tell you - the nutrition requirements and intakes of all my athletes vary widely.

Cheers

PS - I really like what Cathe has written in the past about this - she eats well most of the time but also indulges in moderation :) Where most of us should be heading :)

I agree, I think Cathe has been very wise to be careful with this information. When you are held in such a high regard by so many, this type of information can be misunderstood. Everyon'e body is different, everyone's lifestyle is different, everyone's calorie (and the type of calorie) demands are different.

I believe Cathe has said in the past that she follows a clean diet most of the time with occassional indulgences. Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe she has a soft spot for mint chocolate chip ice cream...I think!

Cathe hasn't uncovered some magic diet that gives her a rock hard bod...she has just discovered over time what works for HER. That same diet may have Lisa X starving but may cause Beth Y to flunk the pencil test!

I believe Cathe is ACE certified (as am I --I have an ACE certification as a personal trainer).
Just fyi, when you get an ACE certification (and others as well, I'm sure), the certifying organization is very unequivocal about advising trainers and group instructors not to go beyond their "scope of practice" when dealing with clients (which in Cathe's case means us). So if your training does not extend to diet and nutrition, that means you probably should not try to counsel or "treat" people in those areas.

I can't speak for Cathe, of course, but I'm guessing this may be a factor in why she's very circumspect in what she posts here on those topics.:)

Okay, let's get this straight. Some of you who replied need to go back & read my question! I myself am a certified fitness instructor & personal trainer & also have a degree in the fitness field. I am not asking for Cathe's caloric intake or asking her to give me nutritional advice...I don't need it, I know all about clean eating. However, my guess is that all of us here look up to Cathe, I know she is a role model to me. There is nothing wrong w/ her sharing some of her favorite healthy meals/snacks, or a few recipes. Just as in her workout DVD's, she usually mentions the amount of weight she uses as a guide to the rest of us. That doesn't mean everyone will use the weight she uses, she tells us this info as a guide. I know everyone has different diet needs, duh! But some of her meal ideas or some of the things Cathe likes to eat daily shouldn't be some big secret. We look up to her & all like to know about her.

Liz,

I am currently checking out your blog website - and I have already added it to my "favorites". My jaw dropped when I looked at your before and after photos . . . I can only imagine the dedication, hard work and discipline - I am in absolute awe. Inspiration? Unfortunately that word cannot even come close what you are - thanks for including the links on your response. I'll be visiting your site often - you are the epitome of amazing.

Hey Mo,

Thanks for the compliment!

Amanda,

I reread your original post and it doesn't really mention recipes as such. Which is why I interpreted it the way I did :)

Shelley (Limecat) has a wonderful Cathe Compendium of recipes - clean and not so clean which are worth a look.

Cheers

Hi,

So how do I get some of the recipes? How do I contact Shelley (limecat)? Any additional info. would be appreciated. Thanks.
