Cathe, where do you get inspiration for your workout?

I am so impressed by the high quality of your job that I'd really like to know what happens " behind the scene " when you come up with new ideas, how you build a new workout and how you sequence exercises and moves so effectively, stopping at the right moment and pushing hard when needed. And ( yes I'm full of questions for you) how much time do you dedicate to your personal, constant education in fitness, following courses, reading and studying to keep you always updated with the new trends and researchers' discoveries?
I think your life must be pretty busy, I really admire you for all you do!

How kind of you to say such nice things and ask these thorough questions Ellie. I take so much pride in creating and producing high quality professional workouts and products. It's something I have always placed great importance on and take very seriously.

Yes, I definitely keep on top of research findings and fitness trends by reading trade publications, subscribing to fitness industry reports, attending fitness conventions, implimenting test training on others and maintaining my fitness certifications. But my biggest plus is that I also have a health club that I own with my business partner where I teach and train daily. I refer to my class regulars as my lab rats since they are at the base of all my fitness trend testing. I also maintain contact with many top trainer fitness colleagues and we bounce ideas off each other with some brainstorming sessions too.

As far as designing a workout, each workout is put together differently based on what the workout actually is. But they all have the same "Cathe Criteria" that goes into them. For the most part that is where I give my workouts their signature seasoning and the right mix of kick to make sure it packs the right punch for the intended purpose and audience it was designed for. My warm ups have to build a certain energy, the body of the workout has to build and swell to a melting point and then back off and on a bit with just the right energy to keep that heart rate as high as the fun factor. This gets tested on my students, then brought to the DVD cast where it gets further groomed/tweaked to the point where I feel it has that "Classic Cathe" feel to it. That might sound a little funny but its a term that anyone who works closely with me knows just what that means :D

Thanks for asking and thank you for your business over the years :)

I am very thankful for both "Cathe Criteria" and "Classic Cathe"! Keep doing what you do so much better than anyone out there.

All the work you put in is very much appreciated.

I am relatively new to doing your workouts and am in awe how I think they are going to kill me (you say ...the right mix of kick) and end up being so much fun!!!

Three cheers for the Cathe Criteria!! They are the best workouts ever!

Yesterday I did HIS. The step premix only. I hadn't done any of your step routines in a while. I just wanted to say that your step work outs are like riding a bike. I never forget the routines! It doesn't matter how long it's been I never forget any of them. I love it. While I was doing HIS yesterday I got goose bumps. Is that crazy or what!!! LOL

Have a great day!

Susan

Hey Susan,
It's on the 4DS Series. It's an awesome step workout only 33 minutes long but kicks my butt and I'm sucking wind the whole 33 minutes! The music is great too!

Thank you Cathe for your kind answer!I don't know where you get all the energy for doing all this great job ( maybe this is another of your secrets , of course you're driven by an incredible passion for what you do but still youmight have some secret weapon to cope with everything!) what I know for sure is that I truly love your criteria and I know what you mean by "classic Cathe" and will never thank you enough for all you've done for me! Please " keep up the good work " and don't stop producing your videos, you've made thousands of people HAPPY AND HEALTHY and you must really be proud of that!

Cathe, your "formula" is PERFECT! You've never failed me yet! Thanks for all you do! Ellie, great questions!
