Cathe videos for the mature exerciser?

I love your videos, but some are overwhelming when it comes to the step routines. I'm over 50 and exercise 5 days a week, mostly Firms, Cathe's FitPrimes and K. Voight. Your new Blast series sounds interesting. As I get older I worry more about my joints and the ability to keep up to the level I am now. Does your new videos suggest modifications? Thanks

Criskw,

I am another Cathe exerciser. I have noticed my own special needs now that I am 44. I do notice modification suggestions, and some participants are modifying, especially in the CTX series. This morning I did Step and Intervals (and chest) and I noticed the brown-haired girl on the right (stage left) who did some unobtrusive modifications. I felt good going a little light, with her.

For example, not leaving the ground very far on the power 7's.

I have noticed a need for me to work out a little less, and watch my eating a little more. I have ordered a book called Life is Hard, Food is Easy. I am awaiting its arrival from Amazon.com.

It's about emotional eating and how to pre-empt it. I think it will help me because I don't want to waste time overexercising. I also want to preserve my joints.

Do you notice modification suggestions in Cathe's existing videos? I think the CTX series is perfect for someone like me, over 40 with a fairly active job. Good luck with other responses.

Hi,

I too have been considering the blast series, and I was wondering if anyone knows if Cathe will be having modifications for these, as I too am concerned about my joints.

I don't know...I guess every "body" is different, but for me, I've only gotten stronger with age thanks to YOU, Cathe! I'm 48 and yesterday did PLB with 40, 50, and 55 pounds on the barbell with 10 pounds of ankle weights added on to on my waist (including step ups) -my heaviest ever. Because I'm tall (5' 71/2") I have been doing all my step workouts on 10" for years and have never had any joint problems (I know it's a no-no, Cathe, but I love the extra intensity and seem to be doing just fine). The only adjustments I have made over time is to lessen my cardio to 2 or 3 times per week (not because of my age but because of the latest research on cardio vs. weight work) and as a result I am starting to see more definition than ever (I used to do less weight work and more cardio - usually 6 times per week).
Now let me say BY NO MEANS am I bragging here...that would be just plain SILLY...but I just wanted to say that as we get older it IS possible to get stronger! And Cathe, I must say with all sincerity and with utmost gratitude, that I am approaching my 50's healthy and strong thanks to YOU...I use your workouts exclusively and have been for many years...You are truly a goddess and an inspiration to us all...Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
