Cathe ROCKS compared to gym classes!

Tonight I did kickbox at the Gym because my DH and 2 yearold were already home early and I would have never got a workout in at home this evening. Plus I was lazy this morning and didn't get my butt out of bed:(

All I can say is Cathe rocks. It is amazing how much better of a workout I can get right in my own living room!!!!!!! All thanks to Cathe and her crew! Tonight during class I just couldn't quit thinking of the new series and how much fun it is going to be!!!!!!!!!! I was also planning out my workout in the morning. Crazy, huh.... working out at the gym, and thinking of what Cathe video(s) to do in the morn'! :)

There are a couple good classes at the gym. However, most of them do not even come close to Cathe.

Just thought I would share! Do any of you think about Cathe and the new series when you are working out at the gym? Or am I the only Looney Bird??

I am always thinking about what I am going to do next. The thing with me is that I don't go to the gym. I always work out at home or take my runs outside.I just can't imagine fitting the gym into my schedule.I am from a small town and the gym here is more of a social gethering place where people are always chating and I am pretty sure that the women only go to check out all the other womens bodies. It is pretty bizzare.
other then that I have now started to dream about Cathe. Before I went to bed on Tuesday night I did the second step in pre ordering so I was excited about that.So , I think in my dream I was getting my new workouts and I was also getting to meet Cathe!!!!!! I was so excited in my dream and nervous, but then I woke up.Don't worry I am just as looney as you!

I've never taken a live studio class at any of the clubs where I teach aqua, but I've watched plenty of them and I can't help but agree with Pammer. The intensity level and the fun factor don't even come close to Cathe's workouts!

IMHO, DVD/video workouts in general and Cathe workouts in particular are vastly preferable to live land studio classes. You get the chance to practice the choreography over and over, and don't lose precious time each session having to figure out where to put your feet. And once you've mastered the choreography, you can then focus on putting the real oomph into the routine! (Caveat: this is a two-left-foot Klutzina speaking now!)

Of course, that only applies to studio classes. My live aqua classes are unparalleled.

Hi Pammer,

The last time I did an aerobics class at a gym was 11 years ago - I never really enjoyed them, as I was too busy wondering if I was going to go flying into the person next to me. Much prefer my living room, but not my ceiling lights. And Cathe kicks my butt more than any other instructor I have ever worked out with at home - she is certainly whipping my flabby, British a$$ into shape (about time too ! It has been jiggling behind me for far too long now ! :7).

Anna :)

Annette: I like that.... Klutzina :D Yep, thats me too !

Haven't taken classes at a gym in a looonnng time. Was thinking of taking a few just to compare, and since we've gotten a dog home workouts are near on impossible! (Puppy madness!) I do get out for a 3.5 - 4 mile jog with the pooch daily and I spin on Sunday mornings at the club -- THAT I can honestly say is quite a workout. The class is one hour long and as far as cardiovascular goes, it DEFINITELY is up there with Cathe! I get my heart pumping between 170 and 180 for the majority of the hour and talk about SWEAT! I am lucky that we have a great instructor (as it were) who is in his mid forties and mixes excellent music for spinning (Rock me Amadeus this past Sunday was the highlight -- the younger particiants in the class, while they loved the music, had NO IDEA what it was! HA!) So - long-winded, but I would say that for a bit of diversity a spinning class would be the only gym class to challenge all the Cathe-ites out there on a cardio day! Give it a whirl and see what YOU think.

Happy Thursday!

P.S. Like Annette -- when I teach my cardio kickboxing class, I too kick itway up Cathe style. My "students" think I'm very tough! That's a compliment I think.

Now, don't get mad at me, but there's an instructor called Varissa at my gym who kicks most of Cathe's aerobic and kickboxing videos out of the playing field.

I call Varissa "KamiKazi Woman" (meaning suicidal). She does everything at breakneck speed and at extremely high intensity. No rest steps for this Boot-Camp style woman! Every time I take her classes, I'm soaked from head to toe and gasping for air. She's absolutely amazing! And gorgeous to boot! Varissa says she never lifts heavy, but her body is very similar to Cathe's -- well-toned with lovely muscles and six-pack abs.

And curses, not only is she beautiful, but Varissa's a sweetie, too!

Unfortunately, the lunch-hour classes at my gym are usually just barely over a half-hour. I'm not sure I could do Varissa's class for an hour! And some of Varissa's moves are downright dangerous -- two-feet jumping jack coming OFF the step; push-ups off the length of the step, hands on floor then pushing up jettison-style and arching the spine back to a dying swan-like pose (did I mention Varissa is a former gymnast?). Moves like this I refuse to do -- but only if I see them coming! (No two classes are the same).

I'm sure Cathe is just as much a "killer" when she teaches her classes. But not as KamiKaze!

Patricia

P.S. The hi-lo in MIC runs a very close 2nd in intensity to Varissa's classes!

Annette,
Every time you mention your classes I get sooooo jealous. There is nothing more in this world that I love than a really tough water aerobics class. Of the MANY that I have been to, only a few have met my high expections. I know that your's would and it makes me very sad that you don't teach at my gym. Doesn't central Missouri sound like a nice place to move? LOL Heather
