Cathe, question about lunges.

Dear Cathe,
Hope you had a beautiful EASTER:)
Yesterday I did my favorite leg workout: Legs and Glutes. I'm wondering if there is another way for me to do lunges without straining my knees. I try do use 8 to 10 lbs. for lunges and I am careful about my knees not going past my toe. Would it be better for me to do them on the 8 inch high step or just at a shorter range? Thank you for your help!:)
 
Hi Fitlisan! I had a very nice Easter, thank you! I hope you did too.

If you are experiencing any strain while doing lunges, then take a week off of that movement (or any movement which causes a straining sensation). When returning to that movement, start on the floor with no weight. Then gradually (every few workouts) add weight in small increments. Then add height in small increments (no weight is advised at the start). If your knees start to feel strain, then back off in height and/or weight to where it is once again comfortable. Keep listening to your body. Good Luck!
