Cathe - please help!

Hi Cathe,

I have done your videos in the past and LOVE them, but now I'm working my way back up to them after a a couple of years of sporadic exercise. I've been back to regularly doing moderate exercise, such as FIRM videos (cardio and weights) and walking on the treadmill, and now I want to lose 15-20 lbs (especially in my lower half) and firm up. Could you please make a suggestion on a rotation that would help?

I have the following videos:

Step Heat
How to Get in Shape For Your Wedding
BodyMax
Pure Strength - 2 upper videos
FIRM videos

Thanks so much,
Jen

Hi Jen! Good for you for easing back in with moderate amounts of exercise as opposed to diving back in and doing too much too soon. So now that your muscles are ready to be pushed harder, I would suggest weekly workouts of:

Two moderate to high intensity 45 to 60 minute cardio workouts of your choice

Two interval workouts at 45 to 50 minutes

Two total body weight workouts per week (can be split up)

One lower body only workout per week.

One exercise video that is not on your list but I would strongly recommend for your lower body only is Leaner Legs.

A sample week:

Mon...Body Max (could replace one of your interval workouts)

Tues...PS CST

WED....Step Heat

Thurs..Cardio portion of wedding tape followed by PS BBA

Fri....Treadmill interval workout (alternate fast and slow or hills and flats etc.)

Sat....Leaner Legs

Sunday.......off

Good Luck!

Hi Cathe,

Thank you so much for answering! I really appreciate the suggestions. I will take your advice and order Leaner Legs - I was eyeing it anyway! ;-)

I'll let you know how it all works.

P.S. Congrats on your new baby!

Jen

Hi Rachel! No I would recommend Circuit Max as an interval substitution. Body max has an interval type segment in the middle in which you do high intensity plyo movements and then recovery time. Circuit max does not spike in this manner and therefore would not suffice as an interval tape.

Help -- the doctor finally cleared me to work out again after a knee injury and I want to follow this rotation. However, I can't figure out which tapes would qualify as "interval" tapes -- well, unless the word "interval" is actuallly in the title, that is.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
