Cathe, I am new and want to buy all your DVDs, but do not know where to start. Seeing, Connie's pictures on the forum is such a inspiration . I want to purchase the pure strenth for sure. I am 5'3, weigh 132 lbs, work out 5-6 days a week with karen voight, cory everson, running. I am starting to see some muscle definition but want more, especially my arms. Also, my muscle definition would show better if I lost some weight. I need to loose about 10 lbs especially around my waist. I want to also have muscle definition, especially Madonna's arms. I am so overwhelmed what videos to buy and how to rotate them. Should I buy the new beginner/intermediate.
I was also interested in CTX, timesaver, intensity series, body blast. What orders should I buy these. Is ME and BC to hard to start with too?

Please help.

Paola

I am not Cathe (BY FAR) but I do have many of her workouts (and all the ones that you are considering) and can offer you my opinion!

CTX, to me, is a great way to begin working with Cathe. It is designed to work each body part and give you some cardio. It gives you a great idea of what Cathe can offer and how talented and well rounded she really is!

If you are looking for big challege, then the intensity or body blast series is the way to go. There is an upper body workout in one that really gets to your arms too!

I would also recommend that you read about each series and workout b/c the despcriptions here are great. That way, you can have a good idea as to what really happens in these workouts!

Good luck!

Pure strength is definitely a good place to start. Depending on your level of fitness I would recommend either the Body Blasts or the Intensity Series as a next purchase. Body Blasts have a bit more of a fun factor and are not as intense. If you want to go all out and really challenge yourself- just cut to the chase and purchase the Intensity Series. Thats my 2 cents and I have all of Cathe's workouts!:)

Edited to add that it depends on what level you are-- do you have step experience etc? Have you been exercising regularly? If you have no prior step experience then start with the beginner dvd.

Go to the Video Fitness Forum and read the reviews on her products. Wow, there is a TON of info. The women there have taken the time to break each workout down (sometimes) into minutes!!! I purchased MIS and the Pure Strength Series based on the reviews. I printed off the details and put it into a spreadsheet so I can know what is coming next and what weight to use, etc.

I am seeing alot of upper body results using these two workouts. I like MIS because many of the exercises are simple using the barbell. In the PS it seems that you use more dumbbells and more complex moves. The combination seems to be working for me. I also got Power Hour and CTX upper body and Leaner Legs and I can't get into starting something new when I am enjoying the others so much!

Just my two cents!

thank you everybody, no I do not have step experience. I need to buy a step, any recommendation. I do have experience lifting weights. I will definitly be pure strength, MIS, CTX series

If you do not have experience with step, try the beginner DVD and then Stepheat. You will want to hold off on CTX until you learn Cathe's step routines. In CTX she assumes that you know the moves, so it could be frustrating if you bought that one first. I highly recommend Pure Strength and MIS-- those are great choices for starting out and MIS has great form pointers.

Also, you will want to buy a full sized Step Company step. I found one at a garage sale for less than $20 in perfect condition. Look around unless you can afford a new one.

Good luck to you.

I second the recommendation for the new beginner step and then Step Heat. Step Heat is great and it has an ab section at the end, a bonus there. On DVD, step Heat comes with 2 others, and the DVD is called Classics Volume 1.

:)

Mega Step Blast is fun too. I learned Step Heat first and then MSB - either one would be good for learning her moves. Just skip the third section of MSB though! You will be toast by then anyway (in a good blood pumping sort of way!!!)
