Cathe, is it possible to build a butt?

LauraMax

Cathlete
Am I completely trapped with my genetics? I've been squatting, lunging & pressing at the heaviest possible weight for about 2-3 years now. My rear end has kind of built outwards on the sides, but I haven't been able to develop that nice round shape I was going for. Plus my thighs have gotten bigger so my jeans don't fit comfortably anymore.

I'd love to hear any suggestions you might have if you don't mind.

And welcome back! We missed you......... :)

Laura -

Obviously not Cathe, but I can tell you that since I've been concentrating more on the workouts like Butts & Gutts, and less on the heavy weights, my legs are slimming down and my butt is filling out. I looked in the mirror the other day and though, "Wow, I do have a butt!" Which is amazing to me. But, I think everyone is different.

Hey Laura - I so wish I could give you some of my butt! I am naturally "blessed" with a full, round butt-that being said it really can get big super easy... not sure I'd rather have my problem or yours but it always seem it is one way or the other for people, either they got one & it's big or can't get one!

The exercises I try to avoid b/c it makes my butt even "higher" and more round than it is already is the high step, I really think it helps to "build" a butt. I don't have any training or know this for sure however this has been what I have found... you did say though that heavy weighs bulk your thighs, if they build real easily you may want to moderate or at least "keep a close eye on them" if you do decide to try more high step-it also tends to really make my thighs more muscular. :)

Just a question Laura Max -

Are you feeling your glutes during the squats, lunges, etc? Or your thighs?

I notice that sometimes during Cathe workouts while she is saying your glutes should be on fire it is actually my thighs instead.

Sometimes adjusting my leg position will change the "burning" area. Other times I think it is just that the weight is too much and my thighs are working harder that my glutes.

Just my own observation . . . :7

I think the high step is the way to go. I'm going to focus more on that and the glute squeezes (at night watching t.v.). My daughter makes fun of my flat butt! So, here's hoping to achieve a rounded butt!! ha ha.

I'm bumming cuz I have a chest cold - feel like a sumo wrestler is sitting on my chest! :) So, I haven't done a really great workout for a few days. Although I went skiing for 6 hrs. yesterday and shoveled today! Not bad for being sick!

Butts and Gutts "Leg Blast Pre-Mix" has very quickly slimmed down my thighs and built up my butt in the back, rounder and higher. I also feel my butt all the time going up stairs now, I usually felt it in my thighs and hips. This is just the past few weeks. I read in the forum that others loved the leg blast premix, I'm sooo glad I tried it!!!!! It may not work for everyone, but it seems that high rep low weight (though I still work in a normal, heavy weight lower body workout about once every week or week and a half) is what works for me.

Do you have fat to lose? Sometimes that's the key to exposing our "real" shapes. You could have a lovely butt that's waiting to be exposed (so to speak(. ;)
