Cathe -- Is changing rotation often okay?

Hi Cathe!

I was wondering if it's necessary to keep a rotation for at least 4-6 weeks, or if it's okay to change it up more often.

I understand the benefits of changing at least every 4-6 weeks to keep the body guessing, but I'm also wondering if it's counter productive to change more often. I tend to get bored easily so I like to change it up often. Will my results suffer in the long run?

Thanks, Cathe. :)

Hi Marla! I hope you are doing well :)

The main question you need to ask yourself with any workout plan is: Am I effectively reaching my goals and getting the results I am looking for?.....(side note: if you have reached your goals already then you need to ask yourself "Am I maintaining my goals?" )

If the answer is yes, then keep going at it strong.

I find that many people who are new to working out do better on an initial program that lasts about 12 to 16 (sometimes more)weeks with subtle changes implemented along the way. Their minds have a lot to absorb and their bodies have a lot of adapting to do. Big changes are not necessary for them.

As the body becomes more accustomed to working out over time, it adapts to new programs faster and therefore can handle new or altered programs at a more frequent pace (typically anywhere from 4 to 8 (or even 10 weeks). And for someone like yourself who likes to change more often, 3 weeks works too.

If ever a program isn't giving you results, then things need to be reevaluated. That would be when too frequent of a change, as well as a host of other things, would be considered in making sure your program is structured to enhance your goals.

Hope that helps :)

Hi Cathe -- Yes it sure does help.

I've been working out for many years, but I think I do need to get back to a real, structured rotation and stop messing around (hee hee).

I've been a little flighty with my workouts for a while -- partly because I was recovering from sheer exhaustion (mostly stress -- adrenal fatigue) which wreaked havoc on me physically.

I was in denial that my body really needed a rest, so each time I began to feel better I went right back to heavy-duty workouts and I'd crash and burn again. :-(

I kept readjusting trying to figure it all out and I've been all over the map.

I will go through my stack of Cathe rotations and find one that suits my current needs, just so I can get structured again.

Thanks so much for your help, Cathe. I'm so very glad you're here. You mean so much to me.

Jeff and I still hope to get ourselves and the boys out your way for a family vacation and stop in for a good, sweaty workout. :)

Hugs,
Marla
