Cathe, if I only have an hour, 5 days a week...

Cathe,

You recently answered a question from someone wanting to lose 20 pounds in 3 months, which is my goal as well. Your response was AWESOME,but I cannot do it, as I don't have 2 hours a day (I start teaching at 8:00 am and don't typically finish work until 7:00 at nite!). I would be willing to workout 2 hours a day on weekends, but could probably only do 2-3 days per week, one hour. Can you help me?

Vids I have

Intensity Series (ordering this week - can't wait!)
Rhythmic Step (also ordering)
Circuit Max
MIC
MIS
Interval Max
Power Hour
Body Max
CTX Series
Step Works
Power Max
Mega Step Blast.

I hope to hear from you and any other experienced Cathe folk!

I workout about an hour and a half to two hours five days a week. I get up around 4:15 am to do it. It's soooo tough, but that's what I have to do get the workouts in that I want. On the other hand, I don't work at my office for nearly as many hours, so that could change if I did.

I don't have two hours a day either but I think that it is certainly possible for you to make headway with one hour per day @ 5 days per week or with 2 - 3 days during the week and longer workouts on the weekends. :) Personally, I hope that nobody here is insulted, but I don't see the need for me to exercise two hours per day unless I am training for an event or am a fitness professional. Plus, I just don't have that kind of time in my day and I am not strong enough to get up as early as some on the board!

Take the workouts that you have and rotate them so that you are doing weights one day and cardio the next. Do something like...

M - MIC
T - MIS
W - rest
T - interval max
F - power hour
S - rest
S - mega step blast

I like to fit the workouts to my schedule week by week. There are some days when I might have a tiny bit more time and so I do a different workout. On others, I may feel tired or have less time (so then I might fit in a shorter workout). If you get DVDs, the premixes are great for this. Sometimes I wake up a tiny bit late so I do a shorter premix rather than the whole workout!

You might also search the message board for rotations and check out some past rotations for suggestions.

Good luck!
Christine

I have to agree with Christine on this one. I also only have about an hour to workout each day. I work full time and have 2 kinds (dad is out of the picture), so I don't WANT to workout at night. I get a GOOD solid hour in the early morning, sometimes a few minutes more, but usually about 1 full hour.

I have had awesome success rotating my Cathe videos. I have been doing Cathe's workouts for a bit over 2 months and lost 30 pounds doing them. I just mixed up the workouts. Cardio one day, weights the next, cardio next, then circuit, then rest, then tough cardio, then tough weights....just kept playing with the rotations that I make up. It's also good for your body to experience all those changed each day too!

Have fun and good luck!

Thanks for the great advice and sample rotation! And for making me feel better about not devoting "enough" time to exercise - I champion anyone who would even attempt to workout 2 days a week, but I don't think I will ever be able to do it (I'm not even married with children yet!). I've also read in several places that if you workout that much, your body will get used to it (wish our bodies weren't so darned adaptable!), so to see results you'd probably have to workout even more! YIKES!!!

Okay then, you need to clap for me because I DO workout more the 2 DAY A WEEK! Ha! Couldn't resist!!!

Oops! I guess that means I deserve applause too! I guess 2 hours a day was just too foreign a concept for the impulse from my brain to type it to actually reach my fingers!
