Cathe, How Much is TOO Much?

Hello, and thanks for reading this. I usually post in open discussion but I really feel I need your input on my training. I've been working out with you religiously for approx. 2 months after I found you on Fitv. I was hooked after that! To make a long story short, I've embarked on a personal fitness mission to really get into top shape. I've always been athletic..but I digress ;)

I've got about 20lbs to lose to put me where I'd like to be. I'm only 5'1" but I've got a muscular frame to start with. So, 125-130 is something I'd be happy with. Currently, I'm at 145 but down from 158 (yikes) during the last 2 months. I'm an exercise junkie...I consider my diet to be pretty clean thanks to a lot of tips by these wonderful forum members. Upping my protein has really helped me fuel through my day easier. My concern is the amount of training I've been doing. I LOVE weight work and I build muscle really easy (the trainer at my gym is scared of my arms - he told me to stop lifting so heavy but i plug my ears!)

I pretty much exercise 7 days a week, happily - i enjoy it. During the week, I'll hit the gym at least 3 times during the week for approx. 30 min. where I'll run for a while or mix it up with the elliptical. Then I'll go home and do one of the 4DS cardio segments (but not so much the step portions, just can't get that footing down!)or your basic 30 min. step or just a basic session of cardio and then I mix the 4DS with the two upper body GS's. I am working a different muscle every day but it's working out to be like 6 days a week with weight training, mixing the 4DS & GS's. Friday thru Sunday, I'll do a longer cardio, such as Low Max or a firm dvd (KPC should be here any day though!)

From what I've learned through you and these wonderful members, I have a feeling I might be overexerting myself, at least with cardio. I don't feel it, but I don't want to get to the point where I burn myself out either. Similarly, I feel I might be hindering my weight loss too. I'd like to see the scale move more than a few ounces here and there. Yesterday I got the Feed the Muscle Burn the Fat book and I'm anxious to get into it... I'd like to really get the results I'm after (fat loss and leaning out) while doing it safely.

Can you give me your thoughts on this? I'm really looking forward to your expert opinion. Thanks so much!

~Tammi~

And just to add to the previous post, I have spent a lot of time searching through the forums and have found similar postings which offer good advice. But if it isn't too much trouble, an answer from Cathe on my situation would make me feel a whole lot better and put me at ease with my program. (I know, I'm neurotic!) Thanks!!

Current studies show that your results will slow with too much sustained exercise as the old bod becomes efficient....having said that, watch out for injury..with me, I was 10 hours a week hard impact- for years...and at 43, the joints began to fail....more isn't always more....
