Cathe, how many days per week do you recommend an ab workout?

Hi Cathe,
I hope you can clear up some confusion for me. I have read that you can work your abs every day, but I've also read that you need a day in between for your muscles to heal. I try to work abs 3 times a week, but I wonder if I should be doing more. What is your recommendation for ab work?
 
Hi Muffin Top! I probably won't be able to clear up the confusion since this topic seems to be a controversal one.

Here is my feeling on it....

I prefer to work abs a few times per week rather than everyday, especially if you are truly working them hard. Hard in that you are using weight resistance and/or are sore to the touch the next day. If you are just doing high rep light conditioning then you can probably do up to 5 days a week, but I don't believe more than that is beneficial. Not that its harmful either, just simply not necessary to do everyday. Anything that is done every single day can become monotonous. Monotony leads to boredom and lack of focus. Lack of focus leads to lack of results.

I think 3 to 4 times per week is plenty. Hope that helps you.
 
Yes, it does! Thank you! I will stick with my three times a week. I'm almost always a little sore the next day. Thanks for your help and I hope you are back and kicking soon!:)
