Cathe, how important is a complete day off?

Hi Cathe! How important is it to have one day off?

My rotations usually account for one day off but I have a really hard time on that day. It takes everything I have to not do at least 30 minutes of step. If not for the sake of my mood alone!!! I am much happier on the days that I get a good workout in.

Thanks for your input!

Hi Melissa! I prefer a complete day off for its restorative benefits. If you are finding that you are experiencing more anxiety rather than restoration on this day off, then keep that "off day" a light day. If you are going to do 7 days a week, you will especially need to listen to your body. If let's say one day you wake up and say "uh, can't do it today", then make that your off day. If you at least continue to listen to your body in that respect you will be at a great advantage in warding off overtraining. Good Luck!

Hi Cathe! Thank you for your advice. I just wanted to let you know that I did take a complete day off yesterday and I really felt great about it. I did start twitching around 7 pm which is when I usually get in my workout, but I made it!!!

I also wanted to "thank you". There are many reasons why I should thank you, but in particular, I've been reading alot of your advice on "clean eating". I've have struggled with my weight since FOREVER. About a month ago I decided to stop weighing myself, focus on my rotations and "cleaning up" my eating and I feel great. I stopped drinking my daily large coffees with milk and sugar (plus 4 Slenda I'm embarrassed to admit!). Two large coffee's a day since I'm being completely honest. It has made a huge difference in the way I feel about myself and my health. It's amazing how much more aware I am of everything going in my mouth.

Who knew that 2 years ago when I opened The Step that my husband gave me for Christmas and popped in your All Step that it would have had such an affect on my life. I am turning 35 this month and I can honestly say that I am in better shape today than I was 10 years ago. I put on FitTV every morning at 7 am, well at least until my daughter gets up, because just the sound of your voice motivates me for the rest of the day until I am able to get a workout in.

Thank you Cathe! I am sure you have changed thousands of lives if not more, I just wanted you to know that I appreciate how you've changed mine!!

Happiness and good health to you and your family! :)

Melissa
