Cathe - how can I shrink my waist?

I know I need to eat clean. Abs are made in the kitchen as they say, so I guess a slim waist is too. I do that, but what exercises are best for slimming the waist? I have small hips and thighs, but my waist to hip ratio is too high. When I find a pair of pants that fit me in the hips they're too tight in the waist - a legacy of having 3 babies I guess (even though the youngest is 16:) )

Any suggestions?

I started rebounding last week and can you believe I've lost a 1/2 inch in my waist since then. Not sure if it is coincidence, but I don't think so as I haven't changed my diet and I haven't lost any weight.

Kelly that is so interesting. I have a friend who bought a rebounder based on my recommendation. She swore that rebounding increased her waist size. I haven't used my rebounder for a year. Maybe I should give it a go again. My waist isn't what it used to be either.

I totally believe that every body responds differently to different exercises. I used to be a Firm Believer, but started getting so big through the legs and butt that I couldn't fit into my clothes. Since I stopped Firming I have lost 2 inches in my hips, 1 inch in each thigh, and 2 inches in my lower abs. I'm now wearing jeans I haven't worn in about 2 years thanks to Cathe's workouts.
 
One of Tae Bo's videos on circuit training goes into what slims the waist -- it's the 38 minute video -- collage has it for sale. He mentions 2-3 times in this video -- what slims the waist. I don't know how to describe it or I'd tell you here. I actually have found that is helping to slim my waist.

cardio kicks is an awesome workout. i like it better than kpc. when punching your twisting your hips so it majorly slims them down.

How did your thighs and butt get big by using "The Firm" workouts(w/o)? Just wondering, because I don't want that to happen to me. I have mostly Cathe's w/o's but some Firms that I think are great when I can't keep up with Cathe.

I found some info for you. On Cathe's Home page near the bottom, is a section called "Articles by Cathe" .... Press on "A Fitness Solution to Your New Years Resolution" ....
Scroll down to the last largest paragraph ....

I suggest to read the entire article, who knows, this might help all of us to obtain her fabulous body.

Hi Janie, If you go to the Yas Yas site and do a search, you'll find many people over there who believe that the Firm made their lower half bigger by doing so many many leg presses. This is from doing the Firm exclusively. I already have a bubble butt and it was just getting bigger. As soon as I backed off leg presses, I started getting smaller. Almost every single Firm has some type of leg press in it, even the cardio workouts have you climbing the tall box. I lost 2 inches in my hips within just a couple of months of stopping all those leg presses.

I came back to add that I know it was the Firm workouts because anytime I need a break from Cathe, I go back to the Firm and the same thing happens every time.

Thanks for the info. My behind is already too big :) I don't want it bigger. I do firm at least twice a week on my lazy days but I think I better slow down :)

Has anybody tried the TaeBo for abs dvd with Billy Blanks? I've always wondered if this type of workout for the waist is very effective?

I have never tried TaeBo, but I've heard many people say that it helps with the waistline as well as the hips/thighs.
